  • There are some pieces in my wardrobe I can't seem to part with, and yet never actually wear. It's time to change that. In this video I'm going to wear an item I'd forgotten about every day for a week, to hopefully re-ignite the spark I once felt for those items. Enjoy watching!

Maybe you can make the striped onesie into a peplum top. Than you can wear it under a jacket in the fall, or as a top in summer.🙋🏻‍♀️

I agree 100% on refashioning the jumpsuit into a blouse/top. I’m not a fan of jumpsuits on adults to begin with, because who wants to have the prospect of disrobing to that extent (how do you NOT wrinkle, crush, or drop the top part on the floor?) any time they need to use the restroom? The palette of the jumpsuit looks like it might go with the green skirt she considered with the ivory blazer.

I would have styled the pencil skirt with a band t-shirt tucked in and a denim jacket over top so that you could be covered and put together but not look corporate

i feel that almost anything 'works' if you wear it with intent. it's boxy on purpose. the colours clash, on purpose. i look like an old lady with huge shoulders.... on purpose!

I looooove that black leather dress and how you styled it ! It is such a flattering shape and an item that I think does not go out of fashion ! Also, the oversized sweater + pencil skirt look is actually really cute and “modern” ?

The colours of the jumpsuit look sooo nice on you! In my opinion, you should make it into a top to pair with your beautiful vintage skirts - it would really suit you.

I love pencil skirts and I find that for me the best way to make them feel less formal is by wearing a graphic t-shirt with them. For instance I have a bunch of harry potter shirt and star wars shirts, so wearing one of those with the pencil skirt real makes the outfit feel a lot more casual for me.

I see in a lot of Korean fashion people wearing turtle necks and shirts under spaghetti straps. Maybe something like that would make you feel more comfortable wearing the jumpsuit and let you wear it during the colder months.

What I have learned from TikTok is that you can take a longer sweater and make it look cropped by wearing a belt around your waist and tucking the sweater in it. And then kind of tug the sweater back up and let it hang over the belt a bit so that you hide what's underneath. Have never tried it, but could be useful maybe? :)
    LOVE that leather dress, btw!

I wouldnt be able to bring myself to leave the house/changing room in that, I just can't lol. Even thought i find this cut rather flattering on ALL bodytypes, but aestetic isnt worth pushing comfort levels.

I agree, I though she looked adorable in the jumpsuit. Along with the black leather dress it was perhaps my favorite. She could always add a blue, black, or rust colored satin trim around the legs to add length without changing the style too much. A good tailor could perhaps let them out a little in the bum too if she wanted. I definitely think the outfit is still workable.

That little jumpsuit - I would alter it Into a top with a ruffle, made from the left overs, on the bottom of it...
And then I would pair it with the same cardigan, and the jeans from the first day

  • @AbigailPoirier

I've been loving blazers lately! They really help me look like I put some thought into my outfit.
Backstory: I'm most comfortable in jeans, a t-shirt, and hiking boots, however I like to look more professional when I'm teaching.
So I compromise by wearing dark blue, black, or white jeans, a fitted solid color tee (or tank), and ankle boots. Throw on a blazer and it just makes the whole outfit look more put together.
It's not what fashionistas recommend, but my favorite combos have 3 colors. For example: navy jeans, orange top, and tan blazer & boots. Or white top, plum blazer, and black jeans & boots. (I guess I like my pieces to have some contrast.)
I thought your blazer looked great with the paperbag pants, and it was the blouse that kept the outfit from working. Maybe a shade of tan halfway between the lightness of the blazer and darkness of the trousers would have worked? I don't think that's one of your colors, though.
The pencil skirt was nice! I would have dressed it down with a colored tee and flats. Maybe a cardigan over the top, too.

I did enjoy watching that as I have good clothes that I rarely wear too. The cherry dress with vest is a huge winner and don’t worry about the color peeking out at the shoulders, it brings allure and appeal. Those 2 office-y looks ... I’d keep them in case you have some kind of job interview or speaking engagement...just so you’re prepared. Thanks!

  • @mdkr7168

Great idea! I always find myself overwhelmed when I am sorting out my clothes during a change of season, because I always stumble upon items I love, but just don't know how to style... I am also definitely guilty of loving blazers in theory, but hating them on myself. Happy to know I am not the only one. Keep it up!

    • @mdkr7168
      @mdkr7168 4 ปีที่แล้ว

PS: could the frilly bow blazer work with a breton-striped t-shirt? For some reason I personally always really enjoy the combination of lace and stripes. I could see that work with the olive (?) skirt.

    • @mdkr7168
      @mdkr7168 4 ปีที่แล้ว

PPS: a trick I love is making (chunky) sweaters appear shorter than they are by wearing a small waist belt underneath and tucking the sweater in under the waist belt (rather than tucking it in your high-waisted pants, making you look chunkier than you actually are). In winter, I wear my sweaters over my collared dresses pretty regularly this way!

I was just about to comment that blazers often look best with a simple, well fitting pair of jeans, and then you showed up in jeans. 😊 A simple, non patterned, tight skirt also works. Either pencil skirt or mini skirt.

I loved the black leather pinafore! For the jumpsuit what I would do is cut it in half, hem the top and turn the bottoms into a handbag and headband. would be supercute with jeans and boots. Maybe a cardigan too. Obviously, do whatever you want, you don't have to do what I would do. But the colors on the jumpsuit are fantastic!

I actually really loved the jumpsuit with the oversized cardigan and it would have been super cute with your Chelsea boots for a grungier look which may not be your style at all, but you can lengthen the shorts by adding some lace trim, I think if you could find some in a cream or one of the colors from the jumpsuit it would work really well.

The first blazer with the bow needs skinny pants and simple top all in a neutral color or black because I think it's a statement piece, it's very beautiful. The pencil skirt would look lovely with a black leather jacket that's a bit short and it would definitely make it less formal. The jumpsuit is also soooo beautiful.. maybe if it's soft enough you can just wear it at home

I always wear high wasted pants (wide leg ones are good) over my short jumpsuits in winter, it makes going to the bathroom a little difficult depending on the jumpsuit but makes them a lot more versatile. Although if you don't want to wear it as a jumpsuit you could just alter it into a top instead :)

Fun video. Love that leather dress! So cool!! You could always make the cherry dress into a skirt alone. It would be a lot more versatile. You could then do a black blouse or black cardigan or even a red cardigan for color pop. I personally love shoulder pads! They were used a lot in the 30s and 40s, and you could style that nice black and white top in that manner. I love 80s fashion and when I buy vintage 80s with shoulder pads, I keep them as-is and feel the 1980s flow through me all over again haha! :)

Oh I feel you, a couple of days ago I myself tried to style a few items that always make it through decluttering but that I never wear. The results weren't as promising as yours though! You came up with really good outfits, and oh that cherry print dress! Where do you wear such a dress, you ask? EVERYWHERE! Ok ok... Regarding the need for short kardigans, you may want to check Natabo. It's a small Polish brand run by an excellent seamstress and last year she started offering such kardigans. As far as I know, the quality is superb, although I sadly don't own one yet so I can't back this statement with my own experience. Every couple of months there's a new model (new color/fabric combination, the cut's the same) in the shop, so it's worth checking it once in a while (or following the brand on instagram to get the news). I hope this doesn't sound like an advertisement, nobody's paying me, I just know I can recommend this brand :)

All of these outfits were super cute . i would style them with high wasted jeans and basic plain tops since they are statment pieces, maybe distressed jeans or wide leg jeans with the lilac sweater. That dress is kind of hard to dress down but i like what you did.

An AMAZING hack for wearing too-long sweaters over dresses or skirts is to put a belt on over the sweater (kind of like you did on Day 3) and then PULL the sweater out until it blouses over to the desired length - presto, cropped sweater!!

I love the blazer with jeans combo! I didn't think it would be possible to make it work but you did it! Also think the black leather dress looks absolutely gorgeous on you

I love that bag too. Your first look was great and I would do that one asap if I had the clothes and yes all I could think of was cut off that bow. Great job 👍👍👍

I'd wear that blazer with slim black pants and a slinky camisole of some type. The colour of which could be just about anything. I wouldn't pair it with an A-line skirt, it does look very church/mum. Looks nice how you styled it sans bow. I love day 2! you look like a beatnik for sure, only a beret away!

That first outfit you read my mind. I was thinking that blazer with jeans and a fitted top of some kind would move the blazer out of "grandmother-ish".
And the pencil skirt. If I wore it (and was slimmer) I'd pair it with a fitted brightly colored graphic t-shirt and some sandals, I like mixing dressy and casual, and pairing neutrals with bright colors.
Or the red capelet(?) would be cute with it, maybe? But that wouldn't be an every day outfit.
