    I was surprised you didn't try to make an outfit out of the 'orphans'. When you first showed off your choices, I immediately thought the white vintage top would go wonderfully with the green skirt and (screen colors notwithstanding) maybe even the green vest on top. Perhaps add 'make an outfit from only unloved items' to your challenge?

      @Loepsie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      I didn't think to pair them together as they're such different weights! The skirt is very thick, woolly and warm, and the blouse is very light and summery. But you're right, it might have worked :)

    the vest, the skirt and the white blouse would make a great outfit already. i usually sort my clothes by colour and when it is freshly washed i put in on top of the stack. the clothes in the bottom of the stack will be next to be worn and i style them to an outfit that fits my needs. this way i wear all my stuff always and never really forget what i have got. there's no need to be superconvinced by an outfit, it just has to work okay, why would you stress yourself over just not going outside naked. there will always be jeans and t-shirt there for you :D

  • @StellaMariaGiulia
    @StellaMariaGiulia 3 ปีที่แล้ว +43

    I did this too last year! (I blame the lockdown boredom)
    I found out that the donate pile soon became part of my fabric stash, I've been using it for pockets, facings, collars and even contrasting sleeves 😁

    • @raraavis7782
      @raraavis7782 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Lol. I read that as ' detonate stash' 💣
      And yes, I do the same, very often. It's so much fun, to upcycle unloved or unwearable clothes. And seeing that donated garments, that aren't either vintage or brand name often end up in the trash anyway...I don't feel to bad about cutting something apart, that's technically still wearable.

    • @rhonddalesley
      @rhonddalesley 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes to both of your comments! Bias binding and lining are also good ones to use unloved/unworn garments for but now I’m finding that although my donate pile is shrinking my fabric stash is growing (as if it needs any more help) 😂

    I would wear the purple dotted blouse with the green skirt or under the blue dirndl!!! And also keep the sleeves rolled down. The thing that makes it look cheaper is how pale the fabric looks when rolled as it is printed rather than woven.

    If I really like an article of clothes but don’t have anything that really goes with it, I look for things that will go with it. Sometimes I just buy something that looks very pretty without thinking about what my wardrobe currently has or doesn’t have.

    I'd style the polka dot blouse with white or light blue bottoms for summer. I really like it, but I know what it's like to keep things you just don't reach for. No point in keeping those! I do have some clothes in my wardrobe that I hate in spring/summer, but love in autumn/winter, so I make a point of only getting rid of things in the season I normally wear them.

    Maybe the purple sheer-sleeved blouse tucked into the cinnamon high-waisted pants, with a scarf that showcases lots of purple and cinnamon as a belt? The scarf would need to be long enough to tie and then let the ends hang down a bit. With brown flats, this would be a pretty summer-into-autumn outfit.

    Well, I’m *slightly* disappointed because I was really expecting you to pick ANCHOR pieces and not an accessory like a vest or a thin sleeveless “blouse”. But you’re so adorable, so much fun to watch and I love the outfits you come up with, so I’ll get over it! 😅
    As for the purple blouses-the colors aren’t flattering on you. The light colors you’re wearing now are bringing together your skin tone and hair and eyes. You became “invisible” in the polka dot blouse and the last one. So we saw the outfits but not the real you. You have an amazing figure and can make almost anything work. But you really look brighter in the pastel tones you’ve been going with recently.
    It was a great experiment!

    I love the outfits you came up with! I kind of did this challenge accidentally once when I moved. I packed up the clothes I didn't need often first and took them to the new apartment and my frequently worn clothes would go last as I still needed them in the current apartment. So when I moved into the new place the rarely worn clothes were there unpacked and ready to go first so I would suddenly wear completely different items than I usually would :D It was very interesting though and I had to be a little more creative.

    Cool idea! A great way to see which things you ought to donate. I think I should some time try to do the same!

    I got curious to see the green skirt paired with the sleeveless vintage top...

    Nooo, don't get rid of the green skirt! When you showed the first three items, I thought they would work great together: green skirt, white blouse, darker green vest!

    The purple polka dot shirt would be so cute under a pair of overalls! But it would also go cute with the green skirt but I have a feeling since you don't really like both pieces if you pair them together you definitely wouldn't wear it.

    The Plum blouse would be incredibly cute with an A line wool skirt in a dark forest Green and a brown leather bag

    What about black fabric painted polka dots on the last blouse, the purple one. It might make it more edgy. Dots the size of pencil eraser out the size of thumb print.
