My hubby isn't gaga over dogs. After 14 years, we finally got a dog. Now they have "liver Wednesdays" once a week where he cooks liver for both of them. He also watches dog tiktoks now on purpose. A good dog will change your heart.

god bless ❤️🥰 you never know how an animal is going to affect you until you get one. for me it was my guinea pigs. i have always been a dog/reptile person, but i was suddenly given guinea pigs after i was approached at work by 2 different people who couldn’t keep their pigs. now, i’m absolutely obsessed and i am forever grateful that my situation ended up the way it did. im so glad that they were given to me, otherwise one of them was about to be released into the wild (it wouldn’t have survived our illinois winter storms) these little piggies are loved and are showered in attention and healthy treats all the time! they do take up a lot of my time and space in my home but i wouldn’t have it any other way.
A good dog will change your heart? Not really if you're still eating the body parts of dead animals. You know your heart has changed when you stop killing animals (or paying others to kill them for you).

The number of times a man has said "No way in hell!" to getting a dog, and instantly falls head over heels in love, I often think it's also them trying to protect themselves from the inevitable heartbreak.

Oh, absolutely - dogs love us unconditionally, everything else we have to perform to earn, so the thought of losing such a strong bond is kind of a lot to deal w/ mentally.

When my husband's old jack russell died, he cried like I had never seen before. My sons were confused about why their dad was so upset. I still miss that old dog and it's been years.

It took 17 years before I could convince my husband to get a dog. He was never around dogs much growing up. We've been married almost 39 years and have always had a dog. They add such a richness to life, especially when you become empty nesters.🐶💖

My husband always loved dogs but I convinced him to get pet rats. He wasn't keen on the idea but he would never tell me no to taking in a pet. He knows when he met me that I was an animal lover. He bonded with the rats and he still mourns our favorite pet rat many years later. He has since become an animal lover himself. He used to help care for wild raccoons and stray cats at his workplace, he recently retired so he doesn't see them anymore. Now he enjoys putting up bird houses and feeders and watches the neighborhood birdies.

My wife wouldn’t even consider getting our kids a dog when they were growing up, our eldest got married and left home, our second went travelling all around the world for years then came home to live for a while, he came home one day with an 8 week old Staffie. My wife had every argument you can imagine against the dog, this went on for about a year. Our son moved out and wanted to take his dog, my Wife had every argument against him taking the dog you can imagine, she won.
They do get under your skin.

They look like Yoda or gremlin ears. I was just browsing my local SPCA and saw a dog with ears that stick out even MORE than this dog's. She's going to be my best friend if she's still at the shelter when my finances improve enough to allow me to adopt a pet.

@@rl798 Absolutely! I haven't had an animal of my own since childhood, so she will get all of the pampering a dog could want. The SPCA does say that she doesn't like other dogs, and that she needs work with basic commands and socialization, so that will be a challenge for me. But I think working on that stuff would help us build a strong bond.
I can't blame him for becoming obsessed with Elsie. I'm obsessed with her just watching a 4 minute video about her and her adopted parents. She is so cute. I love the purple wig!

Sweet Elsie was probably living in constant pain and was still a gentle creature. So glad she is in a loving home now with humans who adore her and have tried to sort out her medical problems.

She has the most amazing ears! They used to call them "Flying Nun" ears after an old tv series with Sally Fields...the hat that went with the habit outfit looked like it was ready to "take off" flying! So cute.

Seeing how cute and cuddly this dog is really made my day. I'm hoping to adopt a dog from my local SPCA who has ears that stick out even MORE than this dog's ears. I need better finances before I can afford to take care of a dog, so I'm sure someone else will pick her up first because she's adorable. But she's mine if she's still there at the shelter when I'm ready ❤️

Our younger 2nd cat was so loving instantly. We went in 1 at a time at the shelter & held her. She nuzzled our faces. But she had been up to been euthanized at a shelter. She was saved by the Humane Society. Then she was adopted & returned. When she came to us she had such anxiety & abandonment issues. She cried off & on all day & night. If I left our screen open & went outside she cried at the door. Now she doesn’t cry all the time & now that I’m less anxious & stressed her anxiety is gone. She’s my therapy cat. When I stress out, she cries & demands I pet her.

I keep repeating it over and over and will never stop: If you never lived with an animal you never lived at all, it´s something wonderfull to rescure a dog, rescure a cat or any other animal that needs help. This is what we humans should do. No bickering, no fighting, just caring for all these animals and make them a part of this amazing thing called life.

My dad: When the dog goes, no more dogs(my mom's American Eskimo was 14 when she had to put her down.
2 months after my mom put her dog down, I bought myself a Siberian Husky puppy(I never had my own dog)
1 year later, my DAD went to the same breeder and bought a Siberian Husky 1/2 sister to mine
So much for "no more dogs" hah
Even though I raise "his" dog(she's basically mine, sleeps in my room etc).

@@ice9594 I wanted to adopt at first, however rescues around here don't have many dogs - hard to get specific type of dogs(with my allergies I needed longer fur as shorthair dogs make me breakout in hives), I have cats so I wouldn't trust a dog with an unknown history, and also I wanted a dog with genetics and potential to live long lives. I did buy Canadian Kennel Club registered so I know about their family tree and such.
@@Loviekinz I had to buy my current dog due to allergies and asthma too. It's difficult to find dogs that suit those with allergies at the shelter, especially small dogs. The dogs I grew up with were all given to us by people we knew.
I love seeing animals getting the love they deserve!! I have a pit. They have unfairly got a bad name, but are the sweetest and smartest of all dogs in my opinion.

You guys may think I’m a fool or even perhaps a sociopath 😂 but I’ve had dogs all my life and I’ve always cared for them the best I could and always had this kind of connection with them, especially with the one I have right now 😁 ! He’s like glued onto me 24/7 ! And I wish everyone could experience being loved this way by a dog because this is the most powerful and pure feeling I’ve ever experienced in my life ! My dog is like my baby and I would risk my life for him without a doubt because he’s my own personal sunshine ☀️ when its raining in my life. And when I’m staring into his big brown eyes, I’m understanding right away what pure love really means and look like 😁.
