    Helpful hint,
    If you struggle seeing the difference between planted and rolled like I did, plan ahead, decide which direction you will plant and roll across that direction then when you plant you can see the difference much much easier

    If starting from a Harvested field:
    Mulch
    Plow (if needed)
    Lime (if needed)
    Cultivate
    Remove the stones (small ones by rolling, if you have big stones use the picker then go over with the roller again)
    plant
    x2 fert
    weeds 👍
    There are different ways to go about it with the different equipment on offer but you need to make sure you get the bonus's
    5% Mulching
    15% Lime
    5% Rolling
    23% fert 1

    Plows, subsoilers, and spaders are supposed to prevent weeds entirely. The other cultivator types are supposed to have higher amounts of weed. although right now there a bug, and only the plow is preventing weeds, as well as the shallow cultivator, and disk harrow.

    • @luksor4724
      @luksor4724 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same bug (or rather opposite) is with weeder, it cannot prevent weed from appearing, even if you remove them in first stage they will grow back soon so currently there is no other method of dealing with weeds than with herbicide spray

      @@jawz-_-7665 it depends of weed % seems that weeder removes 50% of weed, if you use weeder on 75% weed there will stay 25% of weed after your course and then after few months weeds will grow back to 75% or even 100% no matter that you just removed them. It's for sure bug because in other FS games starting from 17 weeder was substitute of herbicide with one condition, you had to use it as fast as possible, now weeder is worthless until they fix this bug in patch. You can check it by yourself, just seed your field with 2in1 seeder (like pottinger for ex.) right after harvesting, then wait one month, use weeder and look how your weeds still grows :(

    I found it easier to use the stone picker after plowing. It leaves a cultivated state, and you can sow and fertilize at the same time right after. Then you can use the roller, you have to use it after sowing regardless. When I don't need to plow, I would just mulch and direct drill with a seeder. Afterwards, you can roll over the small stones that pop up. One thing I realized though, I didn't know mulching was that important. I was just plowing/drilling right after harvest.

    Thanks so much for another informative video. Couple of quick questions and one suggestion for a future video. First, I thought Rolling was supposed to be done after seeding to push both rocks and seeds into the ground but can’t seem to locate where it was I learned that. Perhaps it was in the equipment description for rollers or on Giant’s Academy training site for fs 22. Second have you noticed any advantages in using solid vs liquid fertilizer? Last for the suggestion, I have always wondered about the impact of the various tool groups on cultivating and plowing. For instance subsoilers vs power harrows vs standard plows or standard shank style cultivators vs rippers, discs and power harrows. Maybe the real answer is the cultivation depth needed turn under the last crop such as using rippers and standard cultivators on standard crops vs different methods for root crops or the basic soil types, not sure, but do not think Giants has done much about providing examples of when one tool is preferable over another. Oh and one additional question, did you produce chaff and bail it or simply leave the chopped straw on the field prior to mulching?

    • @cat_lover8441
      @cat_lover8441 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think he didnt need to roll after sowing because he was using planter instead of seeder

  • @Netrole
    @Netrole 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The seedbed texture that you get from rolling over the field after cultivating is also created when using shallow ground work after cultivating (shallow cultivators, powerharrows, diskharrows). When you use these directly after harvest you get stubble cultivation status, but when used after cultivating you get the seedbed status. Might be an alternative to get the 5% bonus instead of rolling, but i have not confirmed that yet

    I recommend rolling *after* seeding/planting, since the rollers are wider than seeders and planters you can use some breathing room on the side to make sure you don't accidentally miss a spot.

  • @incubatork
    @incubatork ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was always under the impression that you rolled after seeding not beforehand, it firms up the ground a bit and helps stop the seeds washing away should it rain hard before the seeds germinate and get a hold. I also noticed that almost all seeders around here have a trailing roller that is fixed to the reer of the seeders, called a packer, packer is also a manufacturer of rollers.
    After plowing, the first crop is devoid of weeds, if I remember rightly it also mentions this in the help

    FYI stones have no effect on yield themselves per se, just the effect of extra potential equipment maintenance, but one of the methods of dealing with smaller stones (rollers) dose have a positive effect on yield, which is just as true when there are NO stones, as a roller converts the ground to a seedbed for +5% in the case of field rollers, if stone themselves had a direct effect on yield then stone pickers would also have +5% yield bonus, but they don't.

    I was wondering in the context of this video (which includes steps like plowing and cultivating to maximise yields): what're your thoughts on the various combined-purpose tools? Like, the seeders that can plant without prior cultivation, or the ones that combined fertilization with seeding, or especially tools like the subsoil cultivator and the spader which appear to plow and cultivate a field simultaneously? Is this a question that has been answered in another of your videos?

    I think your weedy field was just seeding and harvesting, so 2 passes or 1135/2 = 567 yield per pass.
    Your nice field was mulch, plow, lime, cult, roller, seeder, fert 1, fert 2, deweed (if needed), harvest so 10 passes or 195 yield per pass.
    Since you can instantly sleep the days away, you'll make more money quicker in terms of real time spent just doing the least amount of work per field :)

    Thanks for the video. I’m playing with seasonal grow on. After harvest, when do I begin prepping the field? In the month I need to seed? For example oats, harvest is in July/august, planting season is in March/April.
    I begin prepping (mulch, seeding, lime, etc in March?

    You could have also after you rolled the field you could have sprayed some fertilizer down then plant and then after you get done playing you can apply the second fertilizer down having 100% fertilized before the crop even comes out of the ground

    OMG, i thin k the biggest change i'm happy to see is that plows now stick to field restrictions, or at least, my experience with plows in FS19 was that when I'd try to plow a field, it would end up making a bunch of little triangle parts, or, large swaths of "new field" so usually all the edges of my fields had a sawtooth look and it really messed with AI pathing.

    • @austinredd7117
      @austinredd7117 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds like you had your plow set to ‘create new fields’ make sure to keep that off unless you’re trying to extend or create a new field! Hope that helps, should work the exact same in FS22.

    I know I’m a bit late to the party. After seeding you can fertilize, immediately use the herbicide and fertilize again. No need to wait for a new growth state of the crops.

    Great video. I'm new to FS games. Was wondering why my fields were 100% weeds after a couple days. What do you recommend for a new player just getting started not wanting to do any money cheats? Lease all that equipment you use? Or sacrifice certain steps?

    • @NomadHorizon
      @NomadHorizon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Early on you don't have the funds to obtain all of the necessary tools for maximum yield. So you kind of just have to work your way up to it. I would recommend taking a loan out for a weeder, plow and lime spreader or a liquid fertilizer spreader to start since all of those have the biggest effect on yield. I wouldn't worry about rolling or mulching until you can pay off your loan. Same goes for stone Pickers, but with those, I wouldn't by the cheaper 2 of the 3 because they are super difficult to use and you'll spend more time lining up for your next row than you will be actually picking up rocks on that row. Also, if you get a liquid fertilizer spreader, don't get a weeder, or if you get a lime spreader, don't get a liquid fertilizer spreader because the Liquid fertilizer spreader can use fertilizer and herbicide, and the lime spreader can use lime and fertilizer. It's merely to save money since you don't technically need both since one can do the job the other can't.

    • @ryanm5291
      @ryanm5291 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NomadHorizon super helpful thanks. Didn’t know about taking out loans! I did lease a dry fertilizer spreader… those things are stupid expensive. I dot quite understand how leases work yet. But we’ll see!

    • @NomadHorizon
      @NomadHorizon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryanm5291 It's pretty straight forward. You can take out loans in increments of $5,000 up to a maximum of $500,000. You can pay it back whenever you like but you do have loan interest that will take money out of your bank once every month. Also, I meant to say don't get the cheaper 2 stone pickers because they are garbage. The most expensive one does cost a bit, but the hassle you save yourself from will be worth spending the extra money. But like I said, i wouldn't worry too much about a stone picker at the start, because tool maintenance isn't all that bad and the stones have no negative impact to yield. Since you did get a Solid Fertilizer spreader I would also get a weeder since you already have the lime and fertilizer covered with the Spreader(assuming you got one that can spread both), and lastly just a plow. Then you'll be yielding about 160% on your crops. which is still really good.

    I have heard that herbicide has a negative effect on yield, even though it mitigates the negative effect of weeds by destroying them. Therefore the recommendation is to use a welder rather than herbicide. Also you can apply fertiliser before seeding and immediately after seeding, which is quicker than waiting for a growth stage or two. My go to approach is: plough and lime if necessary, otherwise mulch, cultivate, fertilise, seed, roll, fertilise. That gives 100% yield bonus. (I have weeds turned off).

    I know this is an older video. But all I do is after I harvest, I cultivate, then roll, then plant oilseed (or whatever it’s called. Maybe called radish? Idk I’m not playing right now), then fertilize it, then then next day I weed it, and cultivate it, and it gives me a 75% yield, then I plant whatever I’m planting, weed it, then finally I fertilize that and it gives me a 100% yield. Pretty simple.

      *If starting from a Harvested field:*
      5% Mulching
      15% Lime
      5% Rolling
      23% fert 1
      23% fert 2

    just so you know you can fert 2 times before laying your seed. you can fert after harvest, plow or cultivate so anytime you change the surface of your field. Than all you have to do is spread herbicide after seeding. than all you have to do is wait for harvest.
