For the cotton harvester, I think it's important that you can eject an unfinished bail of cotton from the Case Harvester. The JD you can not. I've been left high and dry on contracts because I couldn't deliver all the cotton since the JD Harvester had 9,954 L still in the tank.
Yeah same, worked 2 hours on a contract Whit the JD cotton harvester. I brought the bales to the sell point but couldn’t complete the contract because the left cotton. Had the cancel it, what a shame :(
@@Boaz_963 I wish the game would also apply "Missing crops" penalty (which we see at the end of contract payment view but it is nonexistent tbf). They should add an option to end a contract early and still get a payment of how much work you have done, so it doesn't go to waste like this. I just bought JD Harvester today and was disappointed when my tank was at %80. Then I found a mod which had fast harvesters although they had the same problem as JD. I guess I am going to have to go with Case Harvester too.
@@christophermartin5742what you can always do is find another cotton contract use the next field to finish your bail then complete the first contract. You can then cancel the new one.
There's one piece of equipment I buy in every savegame which is the small amazone fert spreader with 42m working width. It makes it's money so quickly doing fert contracts that it's a must buy imo
Agreed. I usually buy it along with the lindtrac small tractor because its maneuverable with quad steering and just send it off to do fertilizing contracts with AI helper/courseplay.
The Man 4x4 truck should've been in your list. It can act as a tractor. Its usually the first thing i purchase on a playthrough. Cheapest 500 hp tractor you can get. Though slightly limited. I usually get it so I can run that 8m subsoiler without wasting all my money on one tractor early on
Best vehicle in hundreds is MAN simi-truck. It has truck mount in the middle, and trailer mount in the rear. So it can attach most of the equipment and works on fields, like cultivation.
my favorite rig is the Man 4x4. you can hook up farm equipment and pull all the trailers. the Man has a shorter wall base you can turn it tighter and get it into smaller areas when pulling a semi trailer
The Hardi Rubicon has an advantage over the smaller one you picked, it can raise its boom high enough to go over rows of olives and grapes, that is 14 rows in one pass
Two more best in category items: For headers, the Case IH/New Holland 3162 TerraFlex/SuperFlex Draper - you can fold it and then it becomes its own trailer. No need to load and unload the header from a separate trailer and remember where you placed that. The game doesn't mention it in the "combinations" list, but you can also attach it to other large harvesters. For example I'm using it with the Claas Lexion 8900. And for trailers, the Krampe SKS 30/1050 because it has the 2nd biggest capacity and can store ANYTHING (except liquids).
Oh and my personal favorite early/mid game jack of all trades tractor is the JCB fasttrac 4220. It drives 65kph, has all wheel steering, front loader, thin tires, front 3 point and front pto. Basically the only reason why you would need to buy a second tractor is heavy equipment with huge power requirements.
dude the MAN truck is TOP TIER, it can hook up to a ball hitch, pintle hitch, 5th wheel, AND it has a PTO! And it can pull the same weight as the other 90k trucks. PLUS the offroad tires make it great on the fields for those realism players. No other semi in the game comes with that many features
I like the Case ll cotton hsrvestor over the John deer one just because when your done harvesting, you and even the AI can unload the full harvested field on the Case ll. The John deer doesn't let you unload the unfinished cotton harvest. So you don't get to complete the contract sadly
The MAN trucks can be used for farm work... so I usually end up going with one of them early on to pull around equipment because they have so much horsepower and PTO in the front and rear.
I am a big fan of the John Deere 7R - only large tractor with a front loader, has a belly weight so with the Albut Bale King very easy to move 4 bales in one go, can run narrows, reasonably quick, and enough HP to run wide seeders/planters, rollers, and either spreader as well as plow. Great row crop or dairy tractor.
I like the MAN truck just because its very versatile, can take a lot of different types of trailers. The The Fendt Favorit is a great little tractor, lots of horsepower and versatility for the price. The Ventor 4150 just because the folding/unfolding and harvesting animations are so awesome, only reason i do potatoes.
And the MAN truck has a PTO that way it can also pull the anderson bale trailers or other farming equipment if needed. But as I'm mostly playing european maps where I would have hard times getting the US trucks around corners I never even tried if they can use PTO equipment as well...
Great video, love hearing about some of these underrated pieces! That is a great callout on the Helianthus headers, I never noticed that they run 50% faster, and I'm doing a sunflower map right now! For planting, I stopped buying the Kinze 4905 because it requires liquid fertilizer, at least to run it with a worker (maybe this isn't the case anymore?). I always just buy two of the smaller 12m Kinze 3665 run both of them in parallel with Courseplay. The smaller Kinze costs $11625 per meter of planting width and can run behind a well equipped medium tractor (MF 8S for example). The large Kinze costs $13708 per meter, requires a large upfront investment, and requires a large tractor to pull it.
I quite like the Dalbo MaxiCut mulcher. It's 5.8m compared to the TMC 610, which is 6m, but the Dalbo runs 50% faster so you end up getting more work done. As you pointed out with the windrowers, working width isn't everything.
I think my favorite mod tractor is the AGCO 1000 - similar to the Fendt 1000 - the mod includes that version, the Jenz-Fendt and the Challenger colors. And it has enough lighting to rival a small sun, so great for those pitch black nights on an Oxy map!
I agree. I did a test one day to compare all versions of the Fendt 1000 base game and mods on console. For some reason the AGCO 1000 mod just performs way better, like from what I notice it has more torque, or just a a better gearbox. It just pulls heavy loads way better than all the 1000s Also has the best customization, and best value. I just wish it had the tire option of the Fendt 1000 US mod
John Deere 7R 350 is my go-to base game tractor. Throw the BKT rear duals on it, the center weight and a loader and it's a do-all tractor for any mid sized farm. 388hp for 300k with all that versatility? Yes please!
The planter capacity is a total with seed and fertilizer together. It will not hold that much seed. It’s deceiving and can be disappointing on larger fields.
The MAN TGS has a power output at the rear so you can use trailers liker seeders/planters, spreaders, etc etc.. i use it instead of lagre tractors, since it's 100+k cheaper than a lagre tractor with the same horsepower :)
I like the Fendt 900 more. Little bit more maneuverable than the 1000, same top speed. Has reverse drive control too. I’ve not found much of a use for that though!
Back when they introduced it, they had a mower you could put the front mower on the rear mower. With that set up and a baler behind you could work silage really fast. That was in FS17 if my memory is correct
Favorite piece of equipment is the Challenger large tractor. There's no real benefit to it over others, not the highest horsepower, not the heaviest, not the fastest, just absolutely love the looks of it.
I started with the 1000 Vario and now feel proud that I made a good choice! Then I realized I could reroll starts on farm manager mode until I hit it in the used vehicle shop. Got that with the biggest engine and twin wheels for 209k! NOW I am finally ready to start :)
I re-rolled Farm Manager from 9 am until 10:40 the other day looking for a spawn with wheat, oats and canola on the main farm and a decent used market. I settled on wheat, oats and sun flowers and a $65k Case Maxxum!
Great video, Rigitrack electric tractor is the greatest piece of machinery you can buy. 68,000$ for 75 hp. You'll be surprised that it can actually operate anything up to 120HP requirement on flat ground. I was forced to use it in an all electric farm and actually love this stupid little tractor, so much torque because of electric. JCB all the way for med+large tractor
The MAN truck is the omly one I think you are wrong with here, given you will play with a truck doing cultivation and stuff like that. it has a pto. so you can run a lot off equipment that a tractor at the same price can not, you have a 130 000 "tractor" with 500 horsepower.

Correct me if I'm wrong but with the windower, i get the math behind it being almost 20. But that's with 2 passes of the length of the field. So if you went by trips up and down the field, wouldn't that bigger ones still win? Because 2 passes with the larger one say 15m would be 30m's right?
Yea bigger ones are still faster but they require mpre momey, horsepower and there windrows actually will have less total grass so bailing is slower :)
It’s still faster than a smaller 1 ether way, 15m worth of grass is more in the row than lower so bailing would be quicker as you would only need to bail 1 row to have 15m worth of grass, how could a 8m or anything smaller make it quicker???
Honestly, i use a modded version of the base game stuff, If i can. The bale loaders are the only thing i might use if Idon't use an autoloading trailer.
I like themost 6 mtr width equitmen. ( dutch guy here) when it come to tractors i give my preference to the deutz and jcb ones for mid sized as for small tractors I mostly go for deutz, mf, valtra. Awesome video, helps me out a lot as a new player. Do you have vids on whats a great way/clever or route to make tons of money quick? (not cheating) maybe even reusing the crops to other sources after harvesting them, example: Such as barley for chicken feed & then using the straw from it to make money or for bedding.
Silage bales my friend. The payouts are large and consistent. You don't have to replant grass, it regrows multiple times a year, and the equipment to get started is fairly inexpensive. Make sure to get a bale autoloader trailer though, otherwise you will go a little bit crazy trying to manipulate bales.
The John Deere picker's price reflects the real-world advantages it has over the Case, and it should be noted that market share in cotton combines is dominated by John Deere's round-baler because of the efficiency and the reduction in labor and machinery as a result of the Deere picker's technology. Because the game does not require cotton modules to be treated as they are in the real world, that advantage in-game is wasted. Thus the price is poorly reflected. That said, I prefer the Deere because it is a continuous harvester, and on large fields can save significant amounts of real time. The 770 mod (I believe) provides the wider header as well, making it a genuine win over the Case even considering prices. A large cotton field and the requisite industry buildings will more than pay for the extra cost of the harvester, and I get that part of the process done much faster and can move on to further prepping the field for planting the next season.
A thought regarding the 1050 Vario: You make the point that it's good value for money, but if you do the math, it costs 709.86/hp. I would propose the 1167 Vario MT in its place, which is rated at 673hp, and only costs 667.9/hp.
