After a snow-delayed flight from London, let's enjoy the sunset and beautiful roads in Spain for a test drive with the new Audi RS4 Avant! It's a car I've been looking forward to driving as a possible contender for my daily driver in Germany. What do you think, should this be my choice?
I can see why you like the RS4, but personally I’d go for a C63 or E63, as they have much nicer interior,s they better looking, they sound amazing and are not much more expensive. I’m only 13, so I have no idea how they both drive, but the AMGs gets better driving reviews. They’re also very practical if you go for the estate. Have a nice day :) Proud to be part of the #shquad 👍🏻
The interior of the Audis now is absolutely gorgeous. I can just tell I would love that ride, I drove many in my day, this RS4 seems epic, plus its a wagon.
Great cars but in Europe, having a smaller car is often an advantage, not to mention the sporty feeling. The RS6 and Panamera are both great options but huge cars. I own a C7 Audi for reference.
james webb Is that confirmed? I have not read anything about that. Actually ive read that some executive has already talked about the next rs6 in an interview.
TheFrankybody If my vacuum cleaner sounded like this RS4 Avant, I'm down to get one. Be using it 24/7! Go get your ears cleaned out or go listen to a standard A4 then listen to the RS4. I'm sure most of us would agree that the standard car, sounds alot more like a vacuum cleaner with a stock exhaust. 🙃🙃
Well you cant realy compare it to a standard A4, you should compare it to the C63s wagon. The Rs4 doesn't sound bad but for the ridiculous price you want it to sound better than this and have more power than 450hk.
TheFrankybody I see your point but he hasn't said anything about C63 AMG 'Estate', he's asking if he should get this for a daily driver. I'm not personally a Mercedes fan myself so I'll be disagreeing for the most part and I could be speaking for alot of others too. C63 AMG standard with no other options put onto it is already almost £64,000.00, RS4 with no other options put onto it is almost £62,000.00 which is not the carbon pack Tim is driving in this video, and with European regulations being that cars like this or common production cars which could go 155MPH or more are electronically limited to 155 MPH, so is it really worth spending more and more for sound when you can upgrade to a more preferred exhaust system? Course you can upgrade like Tim has said so it's not limited. I personally prefer the looks of the Audi than the Mercedes but that's me.
ChrisPap98 - Err.... Shquad??? What does it, you, mean? There are more "Shquad" replies to this video but me, being the wrong side of 50, have not got a clue as to what you mean. Please explain. In English... Thanks :-)
The Zanzibarbarian it’s the nickname for all those people who get notifications of the new videos and watch and reply usually within minutes of the video launching on the channel. Hence the hashtag #shquad ie notification squad and Tim’s nickname Shmee. Hope that explains it and PS I’m 51 on Wednesday so your not alone. Lol
I love the RS6 but it will be replaced with a new model in the next 1-2 years, at least the new RS4 will stay new shape for at least another 4-5 years!!!
J Gripen the RS6 has a 4.0 biturbo, not related in any way to the 4.2 lol. and small displacement, turbo engines are what launched Quattro, this is a step in the right direction.
Tanner Young I should’ve been more clear, what i meant was i’ll miss the V8. The 4,2 is so legendary. And i couldn’t disagree with you more, but to each their own. I love German V8’s.
I am not much into cars anymore but what i really love about this car is the fact that the actual body is wider compared to the normal versions. They used to do this in the 80s but later they often just put on wider bumpers or side skirts to transform the car into special sports version. For example the BMW M3 in the 90s, this E36 series platform, the M3 version had like the same looks compared to the standard series. This Audi reminds of the early sport quattro cars in the 80s which had wider and shorter bodies in metal.
I went through this exercise 12 months ago looking for a comfortable powerful daily. We went though all sorts of SUV's, Estates, shooting brakes including the FF and the RS6. The RS6 was just too compromised, it was angry, wanted to drag race everywhere. It was the perfect car for someone that wanted everything in one car and didn't own anything else. We the figured out that pretty much describes all of the RS range. But I do own other cars, so I was looking for something a bit less compromised. It was then we tried an S6. Same power as the RS4 at around 450hp, less shouty, more comfortable, all round an excellent daily drive and a bit of a bargain when ordered new via a broker. Drive an RS4 Avant and a C7 S6 Avant back to back and you'll not even consider the RS4 if it's a true daily you're looking for.
If you want an Audi then the RS6 V10 really can't beat... A really good used model face depreciated as far as they'll go and the models that will break have already broken.. the noise alone is incredible.
That would be the perfect car to just kick around in AND have a lot of fun driving too!! Plus, although it is very attractive and will grab some attention, its not hypercar-level attention so yeah, thats probably a plus. I think it sounds great! Love your videos!
Hi Tim ! great Video again ! Yes this would be awesome to drive as Daily ! you can do the Nurburgring with your mate, and be prepared for bad weather, and such ! i wish you a great holiday and good luck with choosing a new daily !
I lived in Germany a long time, and drove a lot, I ended up the same as the Germans,a big diesel. I preferred Audi because of the 4x4 but now they all do them. No sporty exhausts, no road clinging handling just 700 miles on a tank and quiet. This A4 looks brilliant, great fun but for day to day long slog autobahn miles at 100mph plus, the big 3 in estate and 4x4 version is unbeatable.
Great looking car,a stunner.Practical, great interior, super motor ,family or lone daily driver. At last a great car all of us can afford, and not a super car.Best car yet.I would be thrilled to daily drive this car myself, great choice !
I lived in the centre of Munich for a decade, I had a Smart Four2 for in town and a P Turbo as the out of town daily. My criteria was enough space for two to go away for a long weekend, and be able to drive over the Alps in a winter blizzard without drama. Frankfurt has space, but crime is more noticeable, an anonymous car is a good idea. Many of my Frankfurt friends choose to live in Wiesbaden.
Seems like a perfect car for what you need, exhaust can be changed, sounds pretty good as standard, does exactly what it says on the tin, I think it would be a great daily for Germany
Personally prefer the Panamera, this has some very weird Škoda hints on the design. But Audi always pulls it off with comfort and reliability. Great video Shmee!!
Yes, do it. Get rid of the FF and treat yourself with this Gem. But in that stunning dark metallic green it has been presented with. What a gorgeous Colour. 450 HP is more than enough for a quick daily.
I had the previous generation and I miss it every day. This is a much better bet than the RS-6 if you don't have an army of children to take around. For what you do this is perfect. Ditch the FF before it gets much older and just get a loaded up RS-4 with a nice panoramic sunroof for summer and all the toys inside. Utterly brilliant car (apart from the exhaust which was SOOOOOO nice in the old V8...)
Much improved reviewing Tim. Avant's being only available in Basic form here (US) I'v had to mod our Avant/alroads to get similar driving experience to and S or RS. I think the RS4 Avant is the perfect complement to the GT3, a little stealth is not a bad thing..
Buyer beware with these new Audi's!!! I bought a brand new RS5 (same platform as the RS4) Coupe in Oct and it got recovered after two weeks with a serious suspension fault which STILL hasn't been diagnosed or fixed! Apparently its a manufacturing fault with these. The worst thing though was Audi customer service who literally were about as difficult as any company could be. Made me feel totally unimportant as a customer and did the bare minimum to help. In the end I had to threaten them with solicitors and they had to buy the car back off me as a full refund. Unquestionably the WORST customer service of any of the premium German brands and yes, I've owned all three. You have been warned.
Yes you should, without doubt in my opinion. I hear your reservations about being generic however the RS4 Avant is the one model from the RS range that has a proper heritage so to speak - the original with the Porsche door mirrors (I believe) was the first ‘super wagon’ and defined the genre - yes there had been the Volvo 850 T5estates that competed in BTCC but the RS2 with its borrowed Porsche elements (Brembo brakes, door mirrors, engine mods etc) but understated looks only recognised by car people was so cool - it’s this pedigree that keeps it special. The smaller more nimble dimensions vs the RS6 make it more attractive. I think the RS3 variants are more appropriate for people in their twenties where as the RS4 hits the sweet spot for you and just looks right - it’s the perfect choice especially if you are living in Germany but perhaps one in British racing green as a subtle nod - go for it !!
Yes you should!! I think it’s a realy good car for all seasons and it is practical enough, and it’s a good looker for sure!! Also it has that sporty look like its big brother, the RS6 wich i personly realy like!
Asked your advice a few months back on a decision between a C63 coupe or RS5.. Picked the Mercedes up on Saturday and absolutely loving it, thanks for the advice.
Michael Passchier, go take a long walk off a short pier mate! It's a great practical car.If you don't like it buy a Mini Cooper Mr.Bean Edition, if you want a shitty car with "emotion".
if you really need a daily for germany, get this.. audis fast wagon history is just too cool! this car is such an icon already ;) and you can just put a nice aftermarket exhaust system on it! :D
I think it is a great car for the city, but also to blast over the autobahn and maybe even the ring! Beside that, it is really practical so I think it would be a great choice..
The RS4 is one of the best choices as a daily. You don't need a "supercar" daily when you have real supercars in the garage! The all wheel drive and the very modern interieur makes it a great choice, but I would prefer the rs3! The 5cylinder turbo is just freaking amazing!

Shmee150 I Love your channel! 😍🔥 #SHQUAD
Its not a bad car bud i would choose the Mercedes e63 estate🤙
Definitely a great choice... I would also look a a C63, but you can’t lose with either
Brandon Reid yes, but the E63 has AWD
The interior of the Audis now is absolutely gorgeous. I can just tell I would love that ride, I drove many in my day, this RS4 seems epic, plus its a wagon.
Wait for the new RS6 or go for a Panamera!
Automotive Mike but the Sport Turismo
New RS6, where I can see pictures
No new rs6 . Audi will not release one with the new A 6
Great cars but in Europe, having a smaller car is often an advantage, not to mention the sporty feeling. The RS6 and Panamera are both great options but huge cars. I own a C7 Audi for reference.
james webb Is that confirmed? I have not read anything about that. Actually ive read that some executive has already talked about the next rs6 in an interview.
Yes you should! 😍 The New RS4 Avant is just beautiful! 😍
Mr Sweaty Yes very 😍
Looks doesn't matter when it sounds like a vacuum cleaner...
TheFrankybody If my vacuum cleaner sounded like this RS4 Avant, I'm down to get one. Be using it 24/7! Go get your ears cleaned out or go listen to a standard A4 then listen to the RS4. I think this car looks so much better than the old version and much sportier, the interior is just another world from the old one.
Yes definitely. Sonoma green.
That color is awesome. I really like Mocha Latte too.
I think this car is the best daily driver. It has 450hp which is good for a daily driver and the design look so beautiful and more angry
Get a Audi RS6 Performance thats a Beast and the sound was more better 👍 greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Nils-Hagen Reichelt ich bin gespannt was du danach berichtest
GA - Projects das dauert mal noch.. wir bestellen ihn so dass wir ihn im september abholen können (wegen leasing der sq5 läuft erst dann aus)
Shquad!!
cringy
Just get a Porsche Panemera Gran Tourismo and be done with it....
Tony Roberts - Cheers for that. Oh! For the sake of good old English when "hashtag" hadn't been invented #Istillhavenotgotaclue
One of your best reviews mate, super honest, proper driving and some serious Shknowlege 👌
I am a fan of the RS6 Avant but that is an absolute beast I love the Audi avant class you should get it Shmee I would! Brilliant video once again!
I love the RS6 but it will be replaced with a new model in the next 1-2 years, at least the new RS4 will stay new shape for at least another 4-5 years!!!
But the RS6 is awesome
i always love the rear bumper of the rs models. it makes the car look so aggressive and fast
I’ll miss the 4,2 V8😪 On the bright side, it makes the RS6 all that more special
J Gripen the RS6 has a 4.0 biturbo, not related in any way to the 4.2 lol. and small displacement, turbo engines are what launched Quattro, this is a step in the right direction.

I should’ve been more clear, what i meant was i’ll miss the V8. The 4,2 is so legendary. And i couldn’t disagree with you more, but to each their own. I love German V8’s.
Been watching your videos for like 6 years...This is the most Romantic lighting we've ever had.
Hi Tim im in a hospital rn because i broke my hand, thank u for cheering me up! :D
No worries, take care and get better soon :)
Get well soon bro
I am not much into cars anymore but what i really love about this car is the fact that the actual body is wider compared to the normal versions. U can buy anything change anything but don’t change the intro who else agrees
Uttkarsh Suri
Or his name sounds like a boy with tits 🤣
Probably my fave engine from Audi. It doesn’t have all these ridiculous pops and cracks, it’s got that beautiful V6 tone.
Yes, you should!!!
I went through this exercise 12 months ago looking for a comfortable powerful daily. We went though all sorts of SUV's, Estates, shooting brakes including the FF and the RS6.

Yes buy it
Skiing and German Autobahn... sounds perfectly! And then come to ABT and give it the final "SPECIAL" touch!
Wow my dream car...
That new RS4 has a fantastic soundtrack, honestly, one of the best looking cars ever to come out from Audi!, a definite recommendation
Buy this Koenigsegg CCXR ;))
Audi looks great as always
Krzysztof Dolecki hi can't its 4.5million soo imagin
I really love the understatement look of the new RS5 and RS4 😍
Well done, Audi 👏
I would rather go for the new M5. Would suit you better as well in my opinion
King of the Ring this one is way more practical
M5 has more power, better sound, more tech and more presence
M5 looks like a regular 5 series, it has no presence at all
And the Audi looks like a regular A4, so what´s the point? A 5 series with 4 massive pipes and an M bodykit doesn´t have any presence? K then.
Nikkb Are you blind? Maybe go check your eyes
If you want an Audi then the RS6 V10 really can't beat... A really good used model face depreciated as far as they'll go and the models that will break have already broken.. the noise alone is incredible.
Get one from ABT 😃
Great review Tim .... You are without doubt the go to car UTuber for the best analysis
Great car as a daily driver
That would be the perfect car to just kick around in AND have a lot of fun driving too!! Plus, although it is very attractive and will grab some attention, its not hypercar-level attention so yeah, thats probably a plus. I think it sounds great! Love your videos!
Or wait for the new rs6/rs7
Niels _66 but in the mean time he could get a RS4 as the A6 is launched in january, add one year to that, and almost the same with the RS7 :)
Love Richardson I can agree with that
Hi Tim ! great Video again ! Yes this would be awesome to drive as Daily ! you can do the Nurburgring with your mate, and be prepared for bad weather, and such ! i wish you a great holiday and good luck with choosing a new daily !
I’m in school watching Tim review an Audi RS4.🤨😏
Woow focus on school, you can watch later ;)
Shmee150 Noo You’re way more entertaining then school
I lived in Germany a long time, and drove a lot, I ended up the same as the Germans,a big diesel.

This A4 looks brilliant, great fun but for day to day long slog autobahn miles at 100mph plus, the big 3 in estate and 4x4 version is unbeatable.
Yes, you should get the RS4 as your daily, it is a beast but in the other side if you want it to be smooth and practical it will do the job easily👌
The perfect car I think!!!!!
Amazing video, like always. I love this car even I like the RS3 Sportback with the 5ender a bit more.
Fantastic video! Love ur vidz, addicted to that intro! ITS SO LIT!
YES! 100% YES! it is my dream car, and if I was in the same fortunate position as you, it would be the first thing I would do! Please go for it!
nice review
Michael Laurin u didn't even watch the whole Vid :D jk
Yes,definitely get it. Not many youtubers have it! Its an awesome sleeper.
No, Buy a Porsche Panamera Touring as Your daily!
Great looking car,a stunner.Practical, great interior, super motor ,family or lone daily driver. At last a great car all of us can afford, and
not a super car.Best car yet.I would be thrilled to daily drive this car myself, great choice !
You should get the RS4 as a daily. I really like it.
RS6 is the audi to have. The RS4 is very nice and would be a good fall back option. Wide arches look brilliant.
love your vid
Thank you :)
Yessss
I love it Tim! I think it's the perfect choice for a daily driver in Germany and amazing overall package. Getting my S4 next year in the US!
I haven’t seen the video yet, but to answer your question: yes!
Seems like a perfect car for what you need, exhaust can be changed, sounds pretty good as standard, does exactly what it says on the tin, I think it would be a great daily for Germany
Get the new RS4, if not wait a bit for the new RS6 or RS7
Personally prefer the Panamera, this has some very weird Škoda hints on the design. But Audi always pulls it off with comfort and reliability. Great video Shmee!!
I Love this channel! 😍🔥 #Shquad
Best looking avant on the market. Can't wait to see the new RS6!
Might make it look meaner with spacers on the wheels
Ronald Croos haha
Any Car that you can afford would be Awesome! Given the choice, that virtual cockpit is brilliant. Maybe one day, imagine
A full windscreen?
Yes
Yes, do it. Get rid of the FF and treat yourself with this Gem. But in that stunning dark metallic green it has been presented with. What a gorgeous Colour. 450 HP is more than enough for a quick daily.
Hey Tim, how about the new A7? Practical, fast and sooooooo much technology!
The new 2.9 V6 sounds absolutely epic! Everything is V8 these days, so it's nice seeing Audi going back to the B5 RS4 roots with the sound of a V6
yes
What a car. It’s a great all rounder plus the advantage of the superb Quattro system.
U should buy it
I had the previous generation and I miss it every day.
E63S AMG Estate
Arnav Vaghela easily the most hideous car ever made
Callum Docherty exactly
DaveB Audi are top of poor reliability charts
I saw that! Unfortunately AFTER I bought mine.
Surely you bought an RS5.
I see quite a few in the Netherlands and I hear NO problems,...
Nino Eskes hoi ik ben Nederlands nog geen gezien
YOU SHOULD GET THE c63s as a daily
overrated
500 bhp RWD? Not sure if it best fits as a daily driver.
E63 would be better
Fuck yea e63 or c63
Glc 63 would be best ‘support’ car and daily drive :-)
Those grills next to the headlights and tailights are a great design feature, and emphasises the wheel arch curves.
#Shmee150Shquad
I like the combination of compact with decent boot space in this audi and it made those mountains look as easy as eating a marshmallow.
#Shquad
Yes you should!! I think it’s a realy good car for all seasons and it is practical enough, and it’s a good looker for sure!! Also it has that sporty look like its big brother, the RS6 wich i personly realy like!
Buy a Stelvio QV
jesus....
There is one thing i am waiting for, And that is that is the 5 cylinder!!!
first
The interior is amazing !
No
There're so many Audi in my hometown, but I can't see a Audi wagon. The RS4 Avant is pretty cool and usefully.
hello
Hello there, all well today? :)
yes ty
Asked your advice a few months back on a decision between a C63 coupe or RS5.. Picked the Mercedes up on Saturday and absolutely loving it, thanks for the advice.
Dont buy it, it has no emotion, steers without feeling. And it sounds crap. Only positive is the quality of the interiour. Overall not convincing
im with u
you sound like a women mhmm i want emotion dude gtfo
Michael Passchier none of the modern car has any steering feel
Michael Passchier, go take a long walk off a short pier mate! It's a great practical car.If you don't like it buy a
Mini Cooper Mr.Bean Edition, if you want a shitty car with "emotion".
topkek, look at dem audi fanboys getting triggered.
That carbon spec with a blue paint job would be the perfect Minnesota winter car! 😁
NO STAY WITH THE FOCUS RS
Fahim TRG
wtf focus rs over an audi rs 4?
Yes you should get one of these. Awesome Q car and a definite sleeper.
No don't waste of money
This guy is winning great to see love the videos
if you really need a daily for germany, get this.. audis fast wagon history is just too cool! this car is such an icon already ;) and you can just put a nice aftermarket exhaust system on it! :D
I think it is a great car for the city, but also to blast over the autobahn and maybe even the ring! Beside that, it is really practical so I think it would be a great choice..
Get it, lovely car. I pick my RS3 saloon up Saturday can't wait
The RS4 is one of the best choices as a daily. You don't need a "supercar" daily when you have real supercars in the garage! The all wheel drive and the very modern interieur makes it a great choice, but I would prefer the rs3! The 5cylinder turbo is just freaking amazing!
I had the B7 RS4 for 4 years and enjoyed it very much. Sold it with regret but now am looking at getting the RS5 or RS4
The perfect winter Transport Item
wonderful daily driver with practicality and performance
WoW! Amazing job, amazing revue! Greetings from autobahn POV videos! :)
You're really well educated on all of the vehicles that you review. You must have a photographic memory to remember all this stuff.
