  • How I made my Antminer ASIC L3++ quiet for home asic mining. This is my second try and I was 100% successful. If you are mining at home with asic miners you know how loud the l3+, l3++, s9, z9... are.
    I used an -- Igloo 48 qt. Laguna Ice Chest Cooler --

    This worked for me but your asic may run different than mine and I don't want you to burn your house down. Talk to a pro before trying ANY of this!!!

    How did you get your fan speed to 3600. Are you running custom fan speed?

    • @euclidmining
      @euclidmining  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm using HiveOS for my firmware with "Customize the fan speed percentage" off. Its under "Miner Configuration", scroll to the bottom of the page. There's a toggle switch for "Customize the fan speed percentage". I have mine off.

      @@euclidmining thanks man. What percentage are you using?

      I have that set off. I let the software control the fan speeds as needed.
      I don't mind burning out a fan or using too much electric so I let them run full on what the miner needs. I'd rather have a cool running ASIC and increase chip life over a $20 replacement fan. imo
      What are you running yours at? I'm messing with my T17 firmware update tonight... Just posted a video. It never seems to end lol

      @@euclidmining mines unchecked too and the fan is 4600 and 3500, still very noisy

      The fans on the L3++ running at the same speed (overclocked) as my L3+ run the fans at different speeds. Since I've updated my Hive OS firmware my fan speeds seem to be the same but register lower. Maybe a software glitch from earlier versions.
      I'm looking into getting a couple new fans. A fan I haven't tested but have read great reviews on is the Noctua NF-F12 iPPC 3000 PWM, Heavy Duty Cooling Fan, 4-Pin, 3000 RPM.
      noctua.at/en/products/fan/buying-guide
      I've seen them on Amazon and Ebay for around $30 but I recommend buying directly from the manufacture. (i don't have a affiliation link)
      They are much quieter than the stock fans that come on miners and produce the same airflow. You will need to mod the connection (cut a little piece of plastic off so it fits) but from what I've read they are amazing.
      Ill order a couple today and have a video as soon as I get them in.

    Does the cooler keep the miner cool?

    • @euclidmining
      @euclidmining  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So for my experience it did. lol I'm not sure what made it cooler but from leaving it out in the room to putting it in the cooler it dropped 2 degrees in temp. In the end the real experiment was to see if it kept it quieter for home mining where noise is a problem.

    Hi, what do you recommend : buy Bitcoin for 1000$ or buy S19 ? I have electricity for free...

    • @euclidmining
      @euclidmining  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now this isn't financial advice and it's not what you should do. Free electricity? I would have already bought 50 S19s. LOL
      And electricity is never free. Somebody's paying and someone's going to figure out wen they see their electric bill go up like a rocket. S19 uses $3.00+ per day x 30 days. Going to go up around $100. Careful...

    How is the miner holding up in the long term.

    • @euclidmining
      @euclidmining  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ran it in there for 3 months and never had a problem. Even in the middle of the summer it ran cool and quiet. I have several more coolers I'm fitting for the other L3+ and L3++s I have. BUT, I did buy some new fans that should be arriving in the next week. If these new fans can quiet the L3+ as well as I'm told I might not need the coolers anymore. As soon as I get them Ill have a video testing them. Ill test 2 machines side by side. One L3+ in a cooler and one setup with the new fans.

      I haven't had any problems with it. He is average or below and the noise, there is no noise. I do have the power supply on top of the cooler with a hole for the wires to go through and internet. I am doing some revamping on it. I'll have an updated video for you in the next couple days.
