A product in the market will only bear what people are willing to pay for it. FN has priced thenselves out of the market by making mediocre products and setting MAPP prices sky high. Smith, and even Ruger make a better Pistol chambered in 5.7 that does not feel like cheap plastic. With all that aside, who wants to pay 42 dollars a box when 22 magnum is 15 dollars a box with similar performance?
@@Truthloveliberty It's a good round and has its place for sure. Just not quite the stopping power or penetration of a 9mm, also more expensive and harder to find ammo. Why it receives a lot of backlash. Great gun though.
Because it is about 2100 fps and it is the size of a 22 long it produces a piercing injury. A large man could probably physically still attack after teo body shots.
I’ve carried an FN 5.7 for 10 years. Standard 20 rd. Mag. with a 30 reload. Light weight and 50 rounds is a big deal. Premium weapon that won’t fail. Vietnam Vet Gunners mate USN. I’d like to carry my Mk 23 but it’s not practical shaking hands with age 70. I’m happy to say that Iv’e never had to use the damn thing, so far! Thank you!
From your comment, im definitely leaning on getting one for my first pistol. I just want something easy to conceal, reliable and will get the job done if ever I need to defend myself. Any pros or cons you could share from experience? If so, much appreciated in advance
@@reeferman206 I love my 5.7, but I probably wouldn't recommend one as your first gun, for the simple reason that 5.7x28 ammo is roughly 3x the price of 9mm ammo. Unless ammo cost isn't a concern for you (a normal day at the range for me is about 200 rounds, that's ~$120 for 5.7 or $40 for 9mm), you're much more likely to get in the practice a new shooter needs if you go with a 9mm, and there are plenty of great platforms out there in that caliber, including the FN 509 if you want to try out an FN although I'd personally recommend taking a look at the CZ P-01.
@@reeferman206 Please realize that many people say they are veterans, or have "seen action" in these forums are full of it. It is your job to investigate the best gun, caliber, and carry option for your needs. A 5.7 which achieves the advertised ballistics will not be easily concealable for most people.
@@reeferman206 Do not. You will end up being very impressed with your purchase for 30 days, then it will sit in a very unsafe place for the rest of the time until you decide to sell it. Otherwise, you will forget about it and create a hazard for those who end up finding it . Gun ownership, for good, well-meaning people, is like a real marriage. You either do, or you don't. If your first gun is the most powerful gun you can get, you are going for a whore, because the only reason people spend money on whores is because they don't have the courage to have meaningful relationships. They rarely stay with whores. Get a 9mm or a .380 or a .45, and train the hell out of yourself. Get good. You will need it. There is no caliber that will overcome a lack of training or practice. Get something affordable and comfortable to carry. You will not practice as much as you need to if your ammo is 80 dollars a box.
Smith has gotten some things right lately. I shot a 2.0 and it's the most accurate and comfortable striker fired pistol I've ever shot. Haven't tried the 5.7 yet but I seen a guy at the range with an M&P and he was loving it.
I see more and more local law enforcement agencies switching to them over glocks. My 2.0 slide is easy enough for my mother to rack and she make hits on steel at 50yards with it and the vortex red dot. Only issue i had was I bought the threaded barrel model.
I've actually been throwing my Ruger 5.7 into the carry rotation as well for the round count and shootability aspect too. I was surprised it was easy to conceal by how light and skinny it is
I didn't intend to make a 57 as my carry but, I found it the most comfortable gun to carry. IWB,OWB shoulder rig. Light, flat and then there's 21 rounds plus two spare mags without notice.
I’m happy you’ve decided to consider the five seven as a carry handgun, I’ve been carrying it for 12 years or pretty much since it came out and everyone thought I was crazy. Great video man🙏🏾
I’m so glad 5.7 is finally getting the attention it deserves but I think the M&P 5.7 right now is superior to FN, Ruger, and PSA with it’s 22+1 round capacity and tempo-barrel system making it gas operated, as well as flat trigger, crisp trigger break and reset and internal hammer fired system
Nice but i wasnt thrilled with the pin to break it down. Reminded me of a pmr30 . Loose pins in the field was the deal breaker for me. Very comforttable in hand i must say.
I have owned a 5.7mm for years upon years. I have a FN Five Seven as well as a Ruger 57. I have shot other pistols also chambered in the 5.7mm round. I really do not find any of them to be superior. I do find my FN to be my least favorite due to several factors. But that is why I am basically referring to the other available options. I have yet to try the new Five Seven that has been released. So basically I feel the other options hammered in 5.7mm like Ruger and S&W to be about equal. I however do not carry a Five Seven or 57 at all. I carry my HK P30LEM though.
The only thing I think about when I hear smith and wesson is they destroyed Thompson Center and I wouldnt have anything they have to offer even if it was free !!!!!
You have to remember that Colion is not only sponsored by FN but also by Ruger (also Leupold). What he does when it comes to being an advocate for 2A rights is amazing but take what he says about specific firearms and accessories with grain of salt.
I own the Palmetto State Armory (PSA) Rock 5.7, which is very light, easy to shoot and very accurate, and costs much less than the FN. My Rock also holds 23 rounds for a bit more capacity.
Fired my 5.7 tonight at the range and it keeps shots in the ring very well. Did launch spent shells clear across the fireline, but shows how powerful it is in my opinion. Adding it to my carry rotation myself do to back issues. Nice light carry option for us injured blind Americans. Don't require promission to carry, all you need is bullets, gun, and training.
Please tell me that was a joke and you're not carrying a gun while blind. I thought I supported the 2nd amendment in all cases but think you may have found an exception, that sounds terrifying.
Colion, if you want to move up to the flattest shooting 9 mm have your favorite barrel maker machine you a barrel for your favorite gun in 9x25 Dillon with a fully supported chamber. Underwood ammo and Double Tap and I think Buffalo Bore all have multiple loading available. Underwood has a 90 gr Xtreme Defender solid copper bullet (made by Lehigh) moving at 2,000 fps and producing 799 ft.lbs of energy. Lehigh also makes a 68 gr and 118 gr if you handload for those that want more speed or may want to run subsonic with a suppressor. The 9x25 Dillon is true 357 Magnum power in an autoloading pistol. Underwood has the more traditional jacketed hollow point 125 gr running at 1,700 fps and 802 ft.lbs of energy, both the velocity and energy are equal to the full house 357 Magnum 125 gr loads. The Dillon is one hell of a round.
My first carry gun was and still is the 1911. It's not bad, has plenty of upsides, which is saying something for a full sized model. However, after learning the ins and outs more, the Five Seven seems like the way to go. Ammo more expensive but the spitzer design in a pistol is just a simple duh.
Ps they make a P90 style upper for ar's that is drop in and go, uses the P90 mags and ejects out the standard ar mag well which means you can cut the top off a pmag and collect all your brass while shooting, look it up they are sweet!
I agree. Using the same round in the pistol and sub, saves you having to carry two different types of ammo. My understanding, is both were meant to be defensive weapons, capable of penetrating russian body armor. People do have their issues about the P90, but from everything I have heard, it mostly sounds like familiarity issues. Purchase the right rounds. There has been performance issues, buy the FN ammo, and you should be ok. Get familiar with the weapon and how it shoots. The PS90 shouldn't have as many quirks as the P90. Something about a two stage trigger, for full fun. I haven't had a chance to fire one myself, but these are at the top of my list.
Love this video. I carry a number of different firearms myself. I am a bigger guy and to conceal a firearm for a big guy is super hard. I have no issues in saying. I am 5'10 and weigh 280 lbs. Leave it alone, LOL 18 months ago I was 370. Still, being in Texas is easier as we can open carry and I carry in waste band with butt exposed. Depending on weather is how I pick the firearm I carry. Summer time I do not mind carrying a 9mm. Heavier clothes I go up in caliber. Either my 57 or a 40 or 45 and even a 1911 in 10mm. To be honest I do not really like a 9mm. Like yourself I have done a lot of research on the 57 and now carry it with out any doubts at all in the firearm. My 57 is a Ruger. Zero malfunctions as of yet with it. Great video.
I like the little cartridge, but have not jumped into that pond yet. It is a wicked little round for sure says the ballistics. The economy has been devastating on my personal income. I do have a plan to improve that part of my existence, but it is not here yet. Right now I will stay where I am regarding guns and ammo. I have been prepping for almost three decades now, so all is not lost. For those who have a 5.7 handgun, rock on.
I bought the Ruger 5.7 last spring and absolutely love it. It's lightweight with low recoil and super easy to shoot. My only gripe is how much the ammo costs.
You want to rotate them because they will get envious of each other if one gets more attention then the other. So , when you need it, it may refuse to fire. LOL
I've been carrying the Ruger for 2 years. Freaking love it. I would carry the FN but it is such an expensive pistol I don't want to risk losing it in the event I have to use it. I'm really loving the 5.7x28 cartridge.
First 5.7 I got was a PS-90 and while it is a safe queen for 95% of the time, that 5% when it’s out is an absolute dream. Most of my arsenal is fun and comfortable to shoot but that accuracy and comfort is hard to beat. Next gun will be a 5.7 pistol for sure, regardless of its price tag.
2 years ago I got a FN Five Seven for me and a Ruger 57 for my wife. I love them both and I carry my FN every day. I did have some failures with the Federal 40gr FMJ ammo but never with any of the FN branded ammo. The SS197LF is my favorite. You CAN find the SS198 green tips but they are far more expensive with little extra performance. Just waiting for someone to make a load designed to go as fast as they are meant to, 2000fps+. Also, really looking forward to the PSA X57 PDW!
What CN said was true about this gun. First time shooting it. It was very easy to acquire target with stock sights, super accurate, and less recoil than a 9mm. Makes rapid firing all the more fun. Definitely thinking about 5.7 instead of a 9.
I carry a Ruger 57, and the conceal ability tracks there too. It’s extremely flat and thin, meaning on my smaller frame, nothing prints. The only thing that could print is the magazine, but that can be more than managed.
Had the FN Five Seven since the USG model came out and carried it for years. Even with the mag extension it still concealed well and weighs damn near nothing. Only reason I changed over to a glock is because if I have to use it in a self defense situation, I don't want to lose a gun to the government worth more than 500 bones.
I bought the sti staccato c for that same reason. After I bought it and became very comfortable with carrying it around my apartment, doing different tasks. I read a comment exactly like yours. I live in Illinois. Even if I'm 100% found not guilty, no civil law suit to follow..ect.. I don't trust Illinois to give me back my $2400 staccato. Somebody's fingers are going to get very sticky, and I'd legit be heartbroken. So I immediately went back to my 43x.... felt good about it right away.
@@martialman12 Both are reliable as thousands of rounds have been put thru each. Since all else is equal, there's no reason not to safeguard a financial asset. Also, whether we like it or not, juries tend to look unfavorably on "strange or unusual" guns used in self-defense. I work as a LEO and have seen this myself, so a stock G-20 it is.
I have all of the 5.7x28 generations and third party ones, like Ruger and M&P 5.7. The M&P is my favorite of all of them. Honestly, holster options still suck for all of them.
Stop looking for holsters and start looking for a custom holster maker. No joke whish someone told me this 20 years ago. Now days with the materials it's not much more expensive. Or DIY is an option. But yeah never again I have a guy for that lol!
Hadn’t even thought of the 5.7 x 28 as an option I thought it was interesting that it was like a mini rifle round, but didn’t know enough about it until I watched this video. I thank you for your clarification and your knowledge. I will definitely be doing a little bit more research and moving forward from there.
I bought a S&W 22 magnum. My carry round is 2,200 ft/sec, carries 30 rounds in the mag. Thin and lightweight so easy to carry. Never had a failure yet.
I have a custom built pmr.30. An buddy it is no joke. One of my rotation guns. Mostly for hiking/backpacking cause it so light. But at the rang everyone there is like man wth is that an how many rounds was it. Lol. Absolute laser beam as well. Only thing that's scares me about edc with it is the ammo, rimfire just flat fails sometimes. With that said personally I have had the best luck with fiocchi, cci was my choice until some almost catastrophic failures with their casings started.
A couple things about the five seven is the ammo is very expensive. Hard to find in some areas. Its really just an overpriced .22 magnum. But I love my five seven dearly. I can see why the secret service uses it.
I have found that most women who are recoil sensitive really love the 57. People with arthritis in their wrist love it too. A friend of mine had the fn when I first shot it liked it but not enough to buy one but ruger came out with it at a much better price so I got one then got the psa 57 and I just recently got the s&w 57. The new design that s&w came out with for this caliber is awesome but for price and reliability the psa is really hard to turn down.
In my opinion the two most important factors for EDC are reliability and how concealable it is. 57 wouldn’t be my first choice just because of the size. It might work in winter with a bulky hoody, but I would expect it to print in regular clothes. That’s just me though, you do you.
to be fair the thinner width of the five seven pistols helps with concealability, especially when you consider that the fn is the thickest pistol out of the line up of the fn, s&w, ruger, and psa
My gen 1 been in my main rotation for 7 r 8 years now. Get ask all the time why, Colin covered all my reasons. What blowed me away was the zero malfunctions, me too p90 as well. People call me a liar almost every time I tell them but to this day out of gen1 an p90 I have only had two eagle rounds fail while loading. Push the bullet into the casing. Other than that 1000's of rounds zero fails
Thanks for defending the FIVE SEVEN and the 5.7x28 round. I have been using a Gen 1 almost since Day 1 as an EDC and also as a work gun in several countries. Had one failure as a result of face powder like sand in another country but that was actually on me for oiling like I was on Tennessee woods. As to your Gen 2 does it ,make my Gen 1 obsolete? I would like to upgrade plus my 70yr old eyes and 50+ years of shooting really could use a red dot. Doubt FN will send me a Gen 2 but I would be glad to trade them my somewhat famous Gen 1. Wait .. are you joking ? I'm talking about concealability on your Body. Not in a car or bag. The S&W 5.7 is MASSIVE ! It's ( 8.5" long & 5.7" tall ) & weighs ( 26oz ) . Great Trigger and can fit inside my nylon NIKE running shorts or most importantly my very thin wool suit pants. I don't see how it is possible in my life of NOT wearing a heavy jacket all the time or very loose clothing to carry an ( 8.5" x 5.7" ) - ( 26oz ) Monsta. @@456MrPeople
If they would load the cartridge like they did at the start, it would be effective and popular. The only reason it delivers “66%” of energy is because they changed the powder to not make it go the ~3000 fps that it could. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but I think the round is “underpowered” on purpose so other calibers in its weight class wouldn’t suffer in profit. It could be OP af, but it needs to be loaded hotter.
I don't think I'll ever carry anything BUT my Glock 29, not ever. Yet I am still quite currious what this 5.7 pistol would be like as my sidearm, & a 5.7 carbine as my main gun, which utilized the same mags. Until then, I'll stick with my G29 & Kriss Vector 10mm with 8" narrel pistol, as my main gun. Great video, as usual!
Only issue with 5.7 is that it’s hard to find as far as I’ve seen. I imagine I could bulk order it or something, but I’ve yet to see any stocked in any of my local stores. The round is super cool and I would definitely consider it in the future, but until I see it become more common, I won’t be touching any 5.7 guns just yet.
@@joejohnson4183 I’m mostly talking about availability, not price (though I can’t imagine it’s crazy cheap due to the rarity) Edit: unless you’re referring to the availability of it, but I’d have to know where to look 🙃
@@PlatinumHustle but for how much? I don’t feel like I should HAVE to go online just to get a caliber anyway. If it’s not common, I don’t need to have it, it’ll be a pain in the rear.
My Ruger 5.7 Is my favorite go-to carry, mostly because of its accuracy, mag capacity, and its weight. It’s basically a full size pistol with the weight of a compact. Had to get comfortable walking around with that longer barrel in my pants (pun intended) but ultimately it’s my favorite handgun out of my collection. Didn’t know all their rounds were lead free until now so that’s a big plus being in a health freak.
I think the Ruger 57 is best! Internal hammer is technically double-action-only and so never fully cocked until the trigger is fully pulled. AND the option of manual safeties that are easy and instinctive to use!............................elsullo
I’ve used the 5.7, .40, .45 and 9mm. The major issue I have with the 5.7 round is that it simply doesn’t cause enough tissue damage, it’s less lethal than most every other major handgun round. I am stating round for round, not weapon system vs weapon system or round count. Putting 10 pellet sized holes that zip right through your target vs your opponent firing at you with a more lethal round is a disadvantage. We did multiple ballistic tests with the aforementioned calibers and the 5.7 left us unimpressed. There is an application for this round but in my opinion, as a close quarters, self defense round the 5.7 falls short. Obviously most any round to the face, head or vital organ will be combat effective and if I need a handgun to engage 30 targets, 200 yards away, then the 5.7 would be my choice. In certain situations the heavier 9mm round will actually penetrate better than the much lighter 5.7. At the end of the day, shoot whatever you are confident and accurate with. Just my 2 cents.
I've had a FiveseveN for a long time. Only problem I had is over the years some of the mags would not allow it to fire and it was due to the mag safety. Disable that and all the original mags work just fine. I remember when CMMG came out with 30rd mags and separately sold the the extension to put on your existing mags.
If I had to choose a 5.7 pistol to carry, as much as it pains me to admit it, I don't think my beloved FN Five-SeveN would be my first choice. Frankly, I got mine solely because it's my favorite pistol. Otherwise, I would've gotten a fancy black, grey, and gold Rock 5.7 from PSA for half the price. Either that, or go with the Ruger so I can run the LC Carbine along with it to make it easy on myself if I need a rifle for a situation. Great video, Colion! I'm happy to see that the Five-SeveN is actually a legitimate contender as a carry option.
I've got the RUGER 5.7 pistol and the RUGER LC 5.7 carbine. I love both and like you said I can swap mags out and also the carbine has a folding stock from factory and I can put it in a backpack in case I need it. It's a sweet setup. That 5.7 has atleast 6 different gram bullets so if you get one do your homework on what bullet is best for purpose.
Dumb question, my Father In law got my lady a 5.7 and she loves it (low recoil which helps her accuracy) but it is too expensive to practice with and too big for her, or to carry in her purse really. What would be a cheaper, similar power easier to conceal? A small 9? Or a subcompact 38? I'd rather she have something she could shoot all the time affordably. I was told .40 is really affordable compared to 9mm.
Been carrying a 5 7 for YEARS! The light weight capacity and high velocity had me from the beginning! Had a trigger job done to remove the mag disconnect other than that shoot the green tip rounds and let not your soul be troubled!!
Oklahoma didn't call out the 5.7 as illegal to carry, but essentially described it in great detail. I was disappointed that the language/restriction was put into the Constitutional carry law.
Love your channel Colion. Isn't there a better concealed carry insurance company that you could shill for? There are so many problems with USCCA, & definitely better companies to chose from.
I’ve had multiple failures with my S&W 5.7. Mostly with AAC ammo, but also with Speer hollow points. Too many failures to trust it. Also, many reports online with magazine issues.
I am a die hard 1911 guy and have been carrying one for over 30 years, but now you have persuaded me to test drive one of these bad boys. My son has had one for years and I kinda made fun of him and never even considered it until watching this.
I've been carrying this awesome gun for years now. Check the ballistics people before you judge. You will see with the correct ammo this gun competes if not beats most.
Excellent points! I retired my trusty-dusty Ruger P89 which I carried for DECADES, for the Ruger 57 (And now have the wonderful 'LC' Carbine to pair-up with). Folks around me thought I'd lost my mind. Then we ran the 5.7x28 through a very extensive weekend on the range, against as many-varied targets as we could build/buy. They're not laughing/mocking this caliber/pistol any longer. :-)
I’m just now kinda getting into firearms. My edc for now is a Glock 17. A lot of people don’t like to carry the Glock 17 as an edc because of the size, rightfully so but I have big hands so I needed something big for my hands. I’m not gonna lie tho, I’m def interested in getting an FN! Always thought they were great guns & looks fun to shoot.
The 5.7x28mm is loud AF. Other than that it has a lot going for it. The wound characteristics of a few easily available commercial loads are pretty horrific for anyone hit by them and pretty unhorrific for anyone standing behind that person and the person who just pulled the trigger. Low recoil, longe range, high capacity, and thin carry pistols are definite advantages for EDC.
1. It’s super light 2. High capacity 3. Minimal recoil 4. Fast follow up shots 5. Penitration 6. Very accurate 7. Long range for pistol 8. Optics ready 9. Very reliable
Once I started requiring red dots on my ccws my 5.7 went into safe queen mode. I love it but how am I going to take advantage of shooting further with basic irons which aren’t very precision oriented
Reasons you wouldn't carry the FN Five-Seven (1) There are cheaper options without the branding upcharge. PSA, Ruger etc (2) Ammo is more costly than 9mm Luger ($/rd) (3) No compact carry options (4) Limited holster availability (5) You live in large aggressive animal territory (45 Super, 45 Colt or 10mm 🥰) Otherwise, well done Noir! Kudos as usual to your well articulated presentation.
Thanks Colion, for expanding upon all of the reasons why I too changed to a Ruger 57 for carry! Another reason is the LACK of overpenetration in a combat situation with 'civilian' ammo. Also, I am compulsive about utterly safe carry, and you just cannot beat a double-action-only pistol: never fully cocked until the trigger pull is fully to the rear..........................elsullo
Hi, got the 57gen2 love that gun carry on the job every day. Shoulder rig. Also have the Ruger57 still not battle tested like FN! None of them are theFN57 has NEVER LET ME DOWN. Thanks Ham&Egger
Whats cool about the 5.7 is that at the muzzle the 9mm has more energy than the 5.7. But at 200 yards the 5.7 has as much or more energy than the 9mm because of its lower drag coefficient..
I carry a ruger 5-7 any time I’m carrying. These 5.7 pistols By far the most comfortable full sized guns to carry (I have a FN57 too) their lightweight ness is undeniably a deal maker for them. I don’t feel my pants are trying to slide down like my 9mm or 45 carry guns. Also debatable here but certain 5.7 ammo has been shown to still penetrate soft body armor notably the hollow points ss195lf and ss198lf. Ss197 has been shown to on occasion too.
All All NATO ammo is readily available and yes, a lot of people don’t know the 5.7 cartridge is a NATO cartridge the least used but it still used around the world mostly by special forces and security details
5 reasons I wouldn't. 5.7 is expensive, more likely to overpenetrate, dosnt come in a easily concealable platform, has limited aftermarket support as it's newer than 9mm, and lastly you're 1000% more likely for find glock mags than fn Mags in any situation where you need it
The Ruger 5.7 was my first pistol over 2 yrs ago. I would carry it in an off the body bag, but as I grew in my knowledge and experience of firearms, I have a EDC rotation that doesn't include the 5.7. I still love the Ruger, it was my first and it seems that the 5.7 ammo price is coming down. For SHTF, the 5.7 will be called upon.
5 reasons not to: 1. Pricey 2. Ammo too expensive 3. Ammo not stocked as widely as common calibers 4. You won't need to punch body armor, and you can't get the AP rounds anyway 5. Holsters more scarce
The Regular 57 ammo does not punch body armor tool. The SS 190 is the variant that punches body armor. You people type the most un factual things without doing research SMH..

@@elmateo77 thanks for the info! 👍
Smith has gotten some things right lately. I shot a 2.0 and it's the most accurate and comfortable striker fired pistol I've ever shot. Haven't tried the 5.7 yet but I seen a guy at the range with an M&P and he was loving it.

Great video man🙏🏾
good thing youve never had to use it.... if you can't kill a deer with one why would you try to shoot something equally as large with it?
@campsitez2355 the 9mm is hardly a deer stopper, yet most of us carry them.
The Five seven , as a non gun owner (UK) has to be my favourite pistol !
I Love my PSA Rock 5.7.
Not as “Smooth” as the FN! But, the Price and Red Dot standard mount? You can’t go wrong.
Same here.
Yes sir The Rock!!
PSA Rock Rk1 with +7 mag extensions and a red dot🤙
Yessir, I do love the trigger in the rock. I got the 7 round magazine extensions also😊
I’m so glad 5.7 is finally getting the attention it deserves but I think the M&P 5.7 right now is superior to FN, Ruger, and PSA with it’s 22+1 round capacity and tempo-barrel system making it gas operated, as well as flat trigger, crisp trigger break and reset and internal hammer fired system
Honest outlaw gives that Psa high praise over the other specially that fn overpriced and not as reliable

Look up the people that actually used 5.7 in shootings. They stopped using 5.7....

A 5.7 pistol and the FN PS90, both shooting the same round, is a nice combination.
Absolutely!
Would love to see either a metal frame striker fired pistol (to help slim down the grip as much as possible) or a full on 2011 style pistol in 5.7x28
I bought the Ruger 5.7 last spring and absolutely love it. It's lightweight with low recoil and super easy to shoot. My only gripe is how much the ammo costs.
I’ve heard every round has a buff on poor people
All great reasons. My Five seveN has been in my rotation for a few years now and I love it. The only other gun I like as much is my Staccato CS.
You want to rotate them because they will get envious of each other if one gets more attention then the other. So , when you need it, it may refuse to fire. LOL
You can definitely get all copper rounds that make armor look like paper. Not a moot point. Great video.
Currently I carry the s&w 57 and it has been quite good to me. Works great since I’ve got a little bit bigger hands so it grips quite well for me.

2 years ago I got a FN Five Seven for me and a Ruger 57 for my wife. I love them both and I carry my FN every day. I did have some failures with the Federal 40gr FMJ ammo but never with any of the FN branded ammo. The SS197LF is my favorite. Any 5.7 with a barrel shorter than 5 inches is a waste.

Love my Five Seven. Great handgun and packs one hell of a punch.
Less lethal? Have you heard of the Fort Hood shooting?
Keep on convincing yourself.... others know better
I've had a FiveseveN for a long time. Only problem I had is over the years some of the mags would not allow it to fire and it was due to the mag safety. Disable that and all the original mags work just fine. I remember when CMMG came out with 30rd mags and separately sold the the extension to put on your existing mags.
I have actually been waiting on the Hornady 5.7 defense rounds before carrying my 5.7
If I had to choose a 5.7 pistol to carry, as much as it pains me to admit it, I don't think my beloved FN Five-SeveN would be my first choice.

That 5.7 has atleast
6 different gram bullets so if you get one do your homework on what bullet is best for purpose.
I do like that gun but I feel that it's cost prohibited for me due the price per round... I wish it😅 would be cheaper...
PSA rock 5.7 better than the fn comes with 7 mags and isn’t more than a car

The community has your back Noir. No matter what you going through just to let you know.
You can support him by purchasing his cheap Chinese merchandise.
I plan on doin more than that
Excellent points!
:-)
I love FN but the M&P supposedly has half the recoil on their new 5.7
I’m just now kinda getting into firearms.
Low recoil, longe range, high capacity, and thin carry pistols are definite advantages for EDC.
the "wound characteristic" of a 27 grain bullet that would borderline be acceptably used for small game the size of squirrels you're talking about?
hopefully the more popular it gets... the cheaper the ammo gets.
I shoot my fn 5.7 with not ear plugs I don’t think it’s loud at all
1. It’s super light
2. High capacity
3. Minimal recoil
4. Fast follow up shots
5. Penitration
6. Very accurate
7. Long range for pistol
8. Optics ready
9. Very reliable
@@Rubicon14 what do you mean "very accurate"? can you give me an example of the most accurate handgun you have shot?
Once I started requiring red dots on my ccws my 5.7 went into safe queen mode. I love it but how am I going to take advantage of shooting further with basic irons which aren’t very precision oriented
Reasons you wouldn't carry the FN Five-Seven
(1) There are cheaper options without the branding upcharge. PSA, Ruger etc
(2) Ammo is more costly than 9mm Luger ($/rd)
(3) No compact carry options
(4) Limited holster availability
(5) You live in large aggressive animal territory (45 Super, 45 Colt or 10mm 🥰)
Otherwise, well done Noir! Kudos as usual to your well articulated presentation.
Limited holster? I just custom order a sharkskin shoulder holster.
I like how colion just spawns at the start of the video
Most of us can’t afford ammo to get proficient with it 😢
I need more bullets
I’m with you on that bro… ergonomics are unmatched to any others I’ve held.
I think the white FN Five seveN is a good EDC gun. I think of it as a Mini AK47 round. but then. in your pocket
Honestly, I’d also be more than happy to carry an expensive top-tier gun that I got for free.
Exactly
The PSA 5.7 looks interesting too.
love mine
hate the trigger tho but fns and revolvers will spoil me like that
@@p00lboydry fire it a few times. It's gets better
@@sincere0025 ive dry fired it over 1,000 times and shot over 800 rnds thru it already... what does it take?
@p00lboy sorry to hear that. Don't know what else to tell you
@sincere0025 its my only full sized pistol i cant hit metal @100yrds with... yet
Hi, got the 57gen2 love that gun carry on the job every day. Shoulder rig. Also have the Ruger57 still not battle tested like FN! None of them are theFN57 has NEVER LET ME DOWN. Thanks Ham&Egger
Hi colion noir I love your channe!

Reason #1: Readily available ammo.
All All NATO ammo is readily available and yes, a lot of people don’t know the 5.7 cartridge is a NATO cartridge the least used but it still used around the world mostly by special forces and security details
@@vicdiaz5180 They can get the AP bullet rounds that we can't possess.
I’ve got the “twins” - Ruger 5.7 handgun and carbine. Love’m both!
5 Reasons. You're a brand ambassador. All five 5 reasons 😂
i was considering it for the home ... not really for carry. High mag cap, solid round, easily maneuverable ... i think its perfect for home
5 reasons I wouldn't. 5.7 is expensive, more likely to overpenetrate, dosnt come in a easily concealable platform, has limited aftermarket support as it's newer than 9mm, and lastly you're 1000% more likely for find glock mags than fn Mags in any situation where you need it
Citation needed on overpenetration
The Ruger 5.7 was my first pistol over 2 yrs ago. I would carry it in an off the body bag, but as I grew in my knowledge and experience of firearms, I have a EDC rotation that doesn't include the 5.7. I still love the Ruger, it was my first and it seems that the 5.7 ammo price is coming down. For SHTF, the 5.7 will be called upon.
5 reasons not to:
1. Pricey
2. Ammo too expensive
3. Ammo not stocked as widely as common calibers
4. You won't need to punch body armor, and you can't get the AP rounds anyway
5. Holsters more scarce
Yes ignore the constant attacks in gun owners from police.
The Regular 57 ammo does not punch body armor tool. The SS 190 is the variant that punches body armor. You people type the most un factual things without doing research SMH..
Brother I love this!
