Also yeah NSH seems to kinda love collecting/creating life in his structure, Some lizards and many plant life. And as for the ending, it seems like NSH zapped Hunter to not only end Hunter’s last cycle as least painfully possible, but also to not let Hunter mutate into a Rot monster

I loved the new rooms in NSH! They all felt both pretty official and also unique in their design; they really stand out from the architecture of Moon and Pebbles. Speaking of, it was _slightly_ off-putting seeing rooms from (what mostly seemed like) Moon reused for NSH with little changes, but I don't want to nitpick, as it's all still very well made.
used warp menu to enter NSH as gourmand and you can guess what i found in his chamber.

I almost completely missed that ending actually, I thought it would really end with hunter just living in the premises forever, but nope!

This reminds me of something sad a Veterinarian once told me, forewarning.
If it is at all possible (depends on vet), when euthanizing a pet due to illness etc, to be with them. It may be painful, but it is their final moments, and being near someone they trust can be a great comfort to them, as opposed to fear and panic at being in a strange place at the end.
Which is why leaving your dog behind is one of the most cruel thing to do as a human being, if that's even an act worthy of being one.
Have had 5 dogs in my life. And I knew, even without being told, that no matter what emotional state you are in it is your duty to be with them at the end and that is not something you skip.
Sad ending? Yes, but if anything, from personal experience, witnessing an animal companion being given swift peace rather than left to linger and suffer is better.
Hunter got to go home, have some relatively comfortable days with playtime and happiness, without fear nor hunger nor predators, and then had his last moments in the arms of his creator.
Given the alternatives in such a world, that doesn't sound so bad afterall, does it?

Not only that, but in RW, if you don't ascend, you don't die. You just go to the next cycle.

And this also gives hunter a second chance to ascend, so hunter got to meet NSH and a second chance to ascend, and from the ascension ending, we can conclude that hunter wanted to see NSH again, as the void shows the deepest wishes of those that go inside (Survivor sees its slugcat colony, monk sees survivor, arti sees her children, saint probably wishes to free other life from the cycle, so it sees karma 10, a symbol for ascension and gets echoed)
The mod creator put a lot of effort into this, even adding custom dialogue for different slugcats besides hunter and you can even have nsh read pearls and theyll appear in the collections read by him!! although most of the english is pretty broken, its still really ecstatic finally getting some juicy rw game content. Its pretty unfortunate the mod creator doesnt seem interested in expanding on this anymore as stated from the description in the workshop but it was still very pleasant to experience!
NSH has dialogue with every slugcat, even has an inv version! also has rubicon dialogue, alone, with FP, with LTTM, with both LTTM and FP., as well as a slightly altered version for saint (low gravity almost everywhere except in places that usually have normal gravity and the room before puppet chamber has zero gravity... the creator (s) put a lot of effort and detail in this mod!
Y'all know this is how Downpour started right? If the devs see this somehow, PLEASE let this be part of a next huge update

YES, I've wanted a mod that adds the other endings to more campaigns and this mod does something like that for Hunter...
With Artificer, specifically, I envisioned it as playing out with her, after making it all the way to Journey's End, looking upon the slugcat colony there and seeing all of the others coming to see her arrival, but she seems unusually apprehensive and skittish. She takes a look back for a moment, composes herself, and goes forward towards the embrace of her fellow slugcats [this would mostly be shown visually, of course, but it's basically her mustering the will to leave everything behind and finally move on].

I watched this after completing the ending for myself and I feel the exact same. I am shaking and crying over silly little slugcat's death. Also, hate to be the guy, but NSH is referred to with he/him pronouns by other characters.

There's actually a connection to Subterranean from Shoreline, so the warp probably wasn't needed if you were quick enough.
Oh right! I didn't even consider that!
Subterranean is one of those regions that I try to spend as least time as possible in so I completely forgot it also connected to shoreline...
@@lolight2 Yeah, understandable, I only know about that little connection because I find myself using it as a shortcut to Moon during expeditions.
Though I did double the amount of cycles pebbles grants when reaching him in remix settings, I was able to use this route to reach the gate. I'm sure if I were better at the game and I got good luck with cycle time I could do it completely legit with no extra cycles.
it's 100% possible to reach the ending with 15 cycles left completely legitimately
my route was to go all the way though sky islands on the starting cycle, ending on the other side of the chimney gate, then on the second cycle climb all the way up the wall to pebs, get the extra cycles and hibernate.
on the third cycle i went all the way from the top of pebs, back down the wall, down chimney to industrial, and ended in shaded (you might also be able to go through pebs on the previous cycle, and go down the leg instead, though i didn't do that)
on the fourth cycle i went through shaded and to moon, gave her the neuron and pearl, and on the fifth i went to sub and hibernated with 19 cycles remaining.
after that i decided to take it slow since i had 4 spare cycles and ended my run with 17 cycles remaining.
i did get kinda lucky with cycle lengths (and enemies not being obnoxious), but with 2-3 cycles to spare elsewhere im sure its possible even with not so great luck.
just dont die on the first couple of cycles, or you'll probably wanna reset the run lol
Now we need a special ending with Spearmaster where we can explore 7suns
And some kind of special ending or addition to Monk would be cool too :)

Do you know that if you warp other slugcats into NSH's room using cheats, he has a bunch of different dialogues? Even for different states of slugcats, like Spearmaster before (spoiler) or during or after, Rivulet before/after ending, etc etc.
I wonder if they are planning an update that would allow those slugcat's to somehow visit NSH...

@@lolight2 Probably not. BUT they may let the Sunlit Trails Mod/expansion developer plop him in their set. Incase you don't know, Sunlight Trails is the expansion of regions made by the dev that made Scorched District and Pilgrim's Ascent, and further continues into Far Shore and Mossy Fields, with the intents of having a set of regions only distantly connected to the 5P/LttM complex.

i have recovered somewhat from last time only to be struck down again-- at least this time hunter had a way kinder end and made it to nsh again. it was super cool being able to see around the area, especially the boxes area. now i wonder what that pearl says though? ahhh, this is such a cool mod--

This mod is actually very interesting, all the pearl dialogue nsh can read, even from the areas that are not accesible by normal slugcats like metropolis. He even got snowy superstructure in saint campaign and that makes me wonder if there will be actually a way how to get to his superstructure with other ways than hunter and warp
I'm crying now, it hurts a lot, but it's also wonderful. This is one of the best mods I've seen
idea: Copy the gate opener pearl with the mouse drag mod then once you get to that gate on top of NSH and see if there is anything.
this mod destroy my heart... it really is a hunter expansion and is so vanilla like... I hope devs translate it to Spanish someday it would be so nice!

I came to a wholesome ending similar to spearmaster's ending and ended up walking away crying 😭 Another bittersweet ending to the surreal world of Rainworld. Gave me "tell about the rabbits, george" type of sadness
NSH’s dialogue in this could use some work, I think the creator is not a native english speaker and the personality is a bit off.
I agree. I wonder if the creator is open to working with someone else to polish it a bit and release an update?
there are 2 things that looks interesting for me.
First thing: On top on the structure there was a colored Pearl. Maybe we get some lore?
Second thing: You can use devtools to go through the gate to the right.
The gate would go nowhere. It's a dummy gate. If you try and skip through a region gate without it loading the region on the other side, it'll just fail to actually go somewhere. Best case scenario, it would just link to the dummy pipe at the other dummy gate.
the pearl is a "photo album" that nsh had instructed his overseers to get pictures for. The most lore thing is that nsh explains that overseers can only go far enough with "careful guidance"

Maybe it's possible to go shorter by going to subterranean > shoreline > subterranean > outer expanse? You don't need to get the echoes, since you aren't ascending.
Also, a lot of people are sayjng this ending is very sad (and yes i agree because i cried), but if you really think about it, it's way better than Hunter's canon ending.
In Hunter's campaign (the canon one), the "only" ending for Hunter is ascension. But when we play as Gourmand, we see something else. We see Hunter Long Legs, so, it seems that Hunter couldn't get to ascend in time, and lost to the rot.
So, basically...
Hunter's canon campaign's ending:
-Hunter couldn't ascend in time.
-Hunter loses consciousness alone and afraid, with nobody that loves them or that they love nearby.
-Hunter technically dies but at the same time doesn't, apparently.
-Hunter probably feels a lot of pain as Hunter Long Legs.
-Sad ending.
Hunter's ending in this mod:
-Hunter spends their last days with someone that loves them and that they love.
-Hunter dies in the arms of their owner.
-Hunter doesn't turn into Hunter Long Legs.
-Hunter is freed from the pain that the rot causes them.
-Sad, but also sweet ending.
Something i think is interesting:
From what we know, there is no way to ascension except for void fluid and Saint. This means that, when No Significant Harrassment zaps Hunter to prevent Hunter from feeling more pain and turning into Hunter Long Legs (which would for sure be extremely painful for Hunter, specially by the fact that if they turned into Hunter Long Legs, their brain would most likely not be able to control the body anymore and Hunter would probably experience a lot of emotional pain too), what No Significant Harrassment says about Hunter turning into another species or just a slugcat if they want to is probably canon in the lore of this mod.
Oh wow, that ending is very sad.
I wonder how NSH felt after that, being godlike in comparison, and can make a new slugcat. Or if they were attached to just the hunter?
I feel like hunter got rlly narrowed down with downpour, like all his abilities aren’t unique to him anymore so it would be so cool if they made this canon ❤

Anyways, I’ve always been intrigued by the concept of iterators and their slugs. I’d love to see a spearmaster ending where he meets suns, or even possibly making saint’s challenge 70 cannon! :D
(Edit: NSH not being a total troll like the animations is so weird for me, but I will say him having colorful lights and collecting plant/animal life seems on brand)

So essentially the reward for being hyper-fast is you still being told you can't be cured. Kinda lame, tbh - assumed that the requirement is there so you can make it in time to be healed from the "cancer" - the one NSH made the Hunter with in the first place.
Might be the first frikkin' time where I say Ascension is a better ending than this, sadly.
I have had a rough day and am genuinely crying at the ending. This may be the best mod I have ever seen. I’ve always wanted to get to go to NSH’s structure, and the beautiful emotional ending is just the cherry on top. This is my new headcanon for a timeline in which Hunter returns to his creator…

I cried at this ending not because I found it sad but actually because I thought of it as the nicest way for Hunter to pass on. Obviously dying to the rot or the rain must be terribly painful, but ascension is probably very painful too given that void fluid seems to have corrosive properties. I think Hunter returning home to see their creator and being put to sleep in NSH's arms after a consoling speech was the most comfortable outcome for them out of all the endings.
Little did NSH know, the rot would be his ultimate demise.

The ending is extremelly sentimental but going slightly off topic, i found out that using the warp mod as saint you can ascend NSH and he appears on the ending iterator puppet room

It may have taken me two months to get to the mod and play it, but I did. I avoided this video cause I didnt want spoilers but sadly ended up watching it as I was playing anyways due to it crashing right after I reached Outer Expanse and missed the ending cutscene and the froze just outside NSH in cycle 0 so I couldnt see the other ending. So I am glad I could still see it here and I didnt have to redo hours of work just to see it :'))

Sometimes mods crash for me too, usually I have to swap around the load order a bit and by the time it's finally stable I'm too tired and just use warp/dev tools :p
what about the extra cycles from pebbles, Dosent he give you 5 extra? Also u probably knew this already but there’s a subterranean gate in shoreline so you probably can make it in time
Yep! With the subterranean path in mind, you might be able to make it there even quicker, but I am not the most familiar with subterranean so I completely forgot that was an option X.x

Edit: I believe passages aren't available as Hunter, so you really would have to make it all the way to Moon and back to OE in just 4 cycles, wow!
It's a pretty brutal journey! Some commenters mentioned that you can go through subterranean instead to go to shoreline, but even with that in mind I imagine the trip there would still be quite tough to get in time!
Aaa, when I played this my game crashed before I could go back to NSH on a negative cycle and it ended it there so I couldn’t go back, I had no clue he would do that ;C
i believe theres a gate from shoreline straight to subterranean
as much as i'm aware of the centipede hole, you can still climb up the cliff from farm array

@@lolight2 there's a subterranean connection in shoreline! My guess is the way to do it would be farm arrays to subterranean, to shoreline, get moon and then back to subterranean!
It’s possible with the extra cycles from pebbles, if your insane enough, you can rush down from the five pebbles shelter near the wall gate, down all the way to shaded citadel gate shelter, saving like 3 or 2 cycles

I really like this interpretation of the cycle only question is, why isn’t everything the same in intelligence, since I assume they keep memories of past lives, especially since the ancients knew about the cycle, is your memories of your lives limited by the intelligence or is it just that squids and lizards don’t have the physical capabilities to act on those thoughts they have and just have to get by life until they die again

I have a idea, maybe the watcher campaign will take place near NSH’s superstructure? I’m probably wrong, but that would be cool.

Actually, the way karma gates work is uhhh no matter which side you are coming from, it'll load the unloaded region and unload the loaded region. With dev tools you can teleport yourself to the other side of the gate such as metropolis, allowing us to enter it with any slugcat (expect saint of course). Should also work with bitter aerie but I only tried with metropolis
The story is certainly beautiful, but there are quibbles, 1 rebirth as a concept in the world of rain is absent, you as a creature have 2 outcomes, either move to the past, or go to heaven (the outcome is as if you entered an empty liquid), why? remember the children of the technician, and how they rose without any problems simply by dying, and also remember about the ancients, who suffered precisely from the cycle, that is, if they were reborn, then each time they would be new creatures, and therefore there not would be problems there were no iterators either, empty liquid only speeds up the process a couple of thousand times, perhaps in order to rise to the top simply by dying, as a standard, you need to have a special state of mind, the so-called 11th karma, and when you live for example a couple of hundred years with your mind, you you receive karma, and when you are a child, you initially have this karma, there is only one outcome where rebirth as a concept does not contradict the concept of the world of rain, this is if you retain both memory and personality from a past life, but you are also a creature of your species , it should turn out, because again, the problem is in the villages, so alas, this concept here falls under the definition of a non-canonical beautiful story, like inv, but not really (apparently, I finally gave up)((translated))

This is an incredible mod but i have a problem,when the cinematics are supposed to play the game just crashes and i only see my screeen go dark and i onlu hear the music so what do i have to do to solve that bug?
