Downpour is the single best dlc I have ever played for a game. It loses some of its unforgiving esotericism in the form of the remix menu and spearmaster's frankly unnecessary iterator logs, but outside of that it's such a perfect expansion to the game. I really like it as a counterpart to the base game's nihilism as well. Saint's campaign is the best part of the dlc, and I love this quote from the undergrowth echo there: "Why did they search for an escape, as if we were imprisoned! What offering from the void could usurp the gift of life already given? This moment, right here! It is where we are meant to be."
imo Saints campaign is really poor story wise and directly contradicts what made Rain World special in the first place. Same thing kidna goes for Artificer too.

You forgot another important "ability" of Gourmand. Unlike other slugcats, being bitten by a lizard will never result in an insta-kill (unless it's a red lizard). Normally, when you get bitten there's a chance depending on the species that the bite will not kill you, but stun you instead allowing you to escape if you're lucky and the lizard meets a rival and gets into a fight for instance. For Gourmand the instant-kill chance (again, except for red lizards which always have 100% kill) is 0%, so if you're about to be eaten by a lizard it'll always be worth it to wait a bit. Edit: I've played this game for over 300 hours, and I think I'm still missing a few pieces of lore (pearls and spearmaster conversations).
I agree about Artificer's campaign. The camera is one of my worst enemies there, and I remember my friend introducing to me a camera scroll mod. That was when I finally gave in to get my first ever mod into Rainworld (along with Controllable Deer mod because I didn't know about the remix options until later.) I agree with how it loses part of rain worlds charm because of how it makes you the focus. The game is not about you, it never was and never will be, and the camera accentuated that fact by not having you front and center. You may be the protagonist but you are not the main character. The real main characters are Pebbles and Moon and the story is about them, not the slugcats. (This just turned into a rant T_T
I usually play with the camera scroll mod disabled when I'm playing by myself. Despite my criticism I rarely find it hard to deal with outside of a few choice spots (mostly in and around 5P). I agree with that. Downpour does change the Rain World vibe. Since now you feel like a protagonist, a super powered protagonist even, and with a role to play in the story. But here's the thing, do people really want more slugcats that has zero abilities, that also are insignificant? Do they want more of the same? If that's the case, then why make something new right? To me, the direction Downpour took is the only one that makes sense. And let's be honest, now, isntead of FP and Moon being background characters that adds worldbuilding and lore, we actually get a very compelling story with them as the main characters, and I think that's beautiful.

I think the reason only the base game campaigns are allowed is because of all the extra movement downpour slugcats get. Not a problem with gourmand’s campaign, but you cannot pay me to go through the final area if the rivulet campaign as anything but rivulet.
Another good mod to use for coop is the split screen, wich does exactly what it says and I think it gives more freedom for the players to go anywhere without the risk of being too far. ALSO the mod Stick Together is compatible with SB Camera Scroll, and you don't have to use any of its features except that it centers the camera BETWEEN the the players inistead of just rigidly following one of them
For those who are interested, there's a mod on the Rain World workshop "SplitScreen Co-op" which does what it says on the tin, allowing the players to completely split up from each other. It's fairly configurable and It also has the added bonus (if you have a dual monitor setup) to have an entire other monitor dedicated to player 2. However, it's worth noting, at least it appears so, steam remote play *CANNOT* be used with the second monitor player, so instead you'll need to set-up a streaming program like Sunshine and Moonlight in order to play. I would however recommend only doing this with someone you know and trust because this isn't as sandboxed as steam's remote play, and without proper set up can let people remote control your computer. This is also is a good bit more demanding than the regular game, since your computer needs to render the game twice, so it may not run very good if your computer isn't the greatest.

43:40 no? I did every challenge in expedition in like 2 weeks cause I liked it that much. tough I will admit it was mostly because of the unlockable perk, I already knew every perk before playing and the thought of being able to play with them pushed me to do harder and harder expeditions and together with the absurdly in depth movement system it provided me with quite a lot of hours of just having fun
I remember watching the ultra kill, cultic, and rain world videos when they came out, and I’m so happy I got the channel recommended to me again after so much time, great video.
For me, the rivulet was my least favorite character. I really love exploring maps and taking my time, and even after the cycles went back to regular, I had to hold Orb, which didn’t leave me room for much else. I also dislike being fast, it felt like I was playing with ice physics the entire game. Also the lack of understanding why rivulet was helping. Are they sent from another iterator? Why didn’t they have a unique overseer to guide them? Why do they start with the mark of communication? I dunno. Maybe I just hate that one room in underhang that used to have the circle area under it, but now requires a grapple worm, and another hard platforming section after it. The one thing I did like was exploring the rot, though. I feel like the rivulet campaign suffers the most from “main character syndrome,” since they pretty much killed pebbles and saved moon, which none of the characters (other than hunter) were even able to come close to having a big an impact. I hated that I could just run past things and avoid danger completely, since I like thinking of fun ways to get by danger. I don’t hate rivulet, but they are my least favorite downpour character.

Submerged has a "purpose" outside of Rivulets campaign, if you didn't know already. It has 2 purposes outside of Rivulets campaign.
Spoilers for the images he shown

WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO REALIZE IT WAS LOOKS TO THE MOON, VOID WORMS AND 5 PEBBLES?! WHYYYYYY
Being a small youtuber is tough. Take my sub
Comparing the artificer to the demoman is actually kinda accurate, because they're both missing an eye
lets go he finally made a video on downpour
Maybe you are a little bit late but better late then never
19:27 erm acutally it's not a creature from minecraft but an actual animal we have in the real world
Submerged superstructure as saint is a very playable region with different routing
"This creature from Minecraft'" is an axolotl!!! >:(
Ahh yes the thumbnail the only thing that made me press this vide
theire is a reason to use submerged superstructure as the other characters, the cape mission
Also you can play co-op on downpour, you just need to change a file.
The tf2 reference was epic and the scav in the chat too
evan jelly on reference with the title
Co-op can be played normally in all camapigns, you simply have to turn it on in the games files
11:36 lol
Fun fact i found this week. If you restart saint progress after completing the story, the cycles does not restart with it.
I just found out about this game 🙌 its so amazing, i cant wait to play iy
