Fleet Nature Reserve looks like my kind of place - I'm on Black Isle next week, so will pay a visit.

Nice town Dornoch. Not been there or that area of Scotland.
Loved the nature reserve, the eider ducks were spectacular. Thanks for posting, David.

Hi Janet, hope you're well. It's a really lovely wee town and I can really recommend it. It's not far from Dunrobin Castle and the Falls of Shin, so makes a great base for exploring the east coast. There are some amazing beaches all the way up the east coast too which I don't think people realise. Hope you have a lovely week. All the best, David

In the meantime I’m happy to tailor tours to what interests you. Look forward to meeting you one day and if you have any questions about visiting don’t hesitate to ask. All the best, David 😀

The beaches look better in weather like that, David - still hoping for some turquoise waters in the Moray Firth though. Black Isle today, Leith Hall was spectacular yesterday.

Thanks Stephanie, hope you're well. Yes, I'm really fond of Dornoch beach. It was very refreshing that day! Scotland has some outstanding beaches, although it was a bit stormy for swimming. They were brave souls, but it did look lots of fun. Have a great weekend. All the best, David :-)

Q&A - I've had a few questions about the channel over the last few months that I thought it would be good to answer :-)
    1. Why don’t you vlog more?
    2. What is happening in Scottish tourism just now (June, 2021) ?
    3. How do you choose the music?
    4. Will you carry on exploring and filming Scotland?
    1. Why don’t you Vlog more?
I've always wanted the channel to be about Scotland and not about me!
I'm really not that interesting. Vlogging is the commercial thing to do on TH-cam and gets the views, but I want to showcase Scotland’s natural beauty and wonderful wildlife, so people will fall in love with it, cherish it and want to protect it. That's what really interests me and motivates me. I do realise this doesn't make me a good fit for TH-cam, but that's ok :-)
I have to accept in this niche that I can’t make any money, or even have the channel pay for itself, but hopefully, when I’m gone, there’ll be a small legacy to leave and I’ll have had some fun along the way :-)
    2. What is happening in Scottish tourism just now (June, 2021) ?
The Tourism sector has been extremely badly hit, as has hospitality. There are some signs of recovery, but many viable businesses have now sadly closed right across the country. As for my own business, I’ve not done any commercial photography, or tours, for about 16 months and I don’t really expect this to change until next year. I will persevere, but to be frank, my own personal future in the Scottish tourism sector is very uncertain, as, sadly, it is for so many. I will hang in there as long as I can :-) There is good reason for optimism, but I still feel cautious at this moment in time.
    3. How do you choose the music for videos ?
I get a lot of comments about the music. Adding music to a video, and trying to choreograph it to the scenes, is really challenging and I don’t always achieve my vision. I can’t afford to licence the music I’d really like, but I have come across some very talented musicians whom I am able to pay and support. Not everybody does, or can, like the same music - and that’s the way it should be. It’s impossible for me to please everyone. What I can say is that I do spend a lot of time choosing tracks, that either have personal meaning to me at the time of filming, or that I think bear some relevance to the scenes I’m filming (at least to me). Without writing the music & lyrics myself it’s impossible to completely nail it - but I do my best to create some mood with my choices. I would love the opportunity to work with Scottish musicians.
    4. Will you carry on exploring and filming Scotland in the years ahead?
Yes, I am driven to do it, but each film involves an enormous effort of time and money and, if it was a business, it would be running at a massive loss. The pandemic certainly hasn’t helped. I don’t think TH-cam will ever allow me to cover my costs, so I’ll just film as and when I can afford to. I love photography and filming Scotland, but I’m realistic that I’ll have to finance it myself. I do appreciate every single person who's subscribed and it's been lovely to get to know many of you and at the moment that's my reward :-)
Hope this wee Q&A answers some of your questions :-) Have a great weekend everybody!
