Man, your playthrough are fantastic. You explained the Kittens so clearly, I feel I understand it already. I watched your playthrough to learn the base game, and here I am again waiting for my Kittens expansion to arrive. Thank you So if you buy 2 kittens, you place them both on the same turn. That's an interesting aspect of it!
I really enjoyed your explanations and video. We love to play Isle of cats, the family version to be more precise. I think I will buy this one. Thank you so much!!
Very thorough instructions, thanks! I like that the kittens give some meaning to the turn order. In the base game we always ignored the speed cards because there was no real benefit to going first unless two people needed the same cat.
I'm so mad I missed this kickstarter. I only just learned about/played this game last weekend. Picked up the base game and only opened it up a few days ago. But now I NEED these precious kittens!
Hi @O_A___ If you wish to remove the Late Arrivals cards from your deck you can do, they all have a treasure chest icon in the bottom left corner which makes them easy to identify. I hope this helps!
We (my 12 and 7 yr old sons) LOVE playing with the kittens and beast expansions and we are learning the event expansion now! had a question about the events and the blue vs green numbering, I was confused and originally thought the green meant you could earn points over multiple rounds. I have a better understanding after watching this video so thanks! One question after watching a different video where you demonstrate kittens with the sister. When the turn order switches from you being first to her being first, you empty and replenish the kitten field with new kittens. Is that done in normal multiplayer also, because we have only replenished the kittens as they were taken.
I'm really happy to hear it! In the solo mode there is an additional rule around kittens to simulate a player taking kittens: "If your sister is the fastest player, then all 4 kittens should be removed from the kitten board and immediately replaced with 4 new kittens." This doesn't apply to the multiplayer mode. I hope this helps!
Hi Sandra, These are part of the Big '2-minute' Box which can be found here: shop.thecityofkings.com/collections/accessories/products/the-big-2-minute-box It will be back in stock next month. I hope this helps!
Man, I wish I had bought the game with the Kickstarter pack originally, for a bit more cash I would have had the bigger cat meeples and the fish meeples, which I really want.
Do all the event tiles have a red gem on one side and no red gem on the other? If not, what do you do if you draw no event tiles with a red gem or all of them have a red gem?
Question-- the draft rules say it costs 2 fish for a cat to eat a royal rat, but this rules explanation says 1 fish; not that I'm overly worried, but just wondering which will be the final cost?
Hi @tinnekeberton6949 The Isle of Cats can be played with 6 players if you have the Late Arrivals expansion (this adds the needed pieces for extra players). The Kittens + Beasts expansion (and all other expansions) can be played with 6 players as long as you have both the game and Late Arrivals expansion. I hope this helps.
Just had a comment about the kittens. Considering the people I play with, making the rule, where only the fastest player may catch the kittens, that would probably put a sour taste in the group’s mouths. It is almost a take that kind of feeling, so we would probably house rule that rule away, so anyone could catch the kittens on their turn and if they run out, then they run out and only cats can be captured at that point. Dr. Finn has that mechanic in “Butterfly Garden”, but in a two player game, either player can catch the butterfly cards on either side. Otherwise, the game becomes pretty one sided and if you just can’t get those boots, you just may never be able to go first.
Hi Cleansweep38, I am always a fan of people playing a game in the way that is fun for them, so if you feel it necessary for your group to make your own rules then of course you are welcome to do so. I would however strongly recommend you try playing it with the correct rules first before changing them. The kitten module is balanced around the way it impacts the value of cards, the costs involved in getting access, and the limits of people not being able to get them all the time. If you were to simply say everyone can always get them, you will find it unbalances the game and more so, the kitten module wont really add anything to the experience other than giving you some new options. Hopefully once you have it in front of you and give it a try, you will get to experience how it was designed to be played and will see why it works, but if not you're always welcome to have your own house rule.

I'm really glad to hear it @Zaloomination and I appreciate the kind words. I hope you get to enjoy playing with the kittens soon!

That is a good thought! It will add another layer of complexity to the card drafting phase 😂

i missed it too... but i think we can get them on the website for more money😔
I love your tutorials. You explain everything so well.
Thank you Christine!
Thank you for completely thorough and clear explanation! Easy to listen to you!
Do you think it's possible to swap out the cards from late arrives into the base game?

Great video!!

Hi Cleansweep38, I can confirm one side always has the red gem and the other side will not.

Hey, good spot! The final cost is 1 fish, the draft rules were slightly outdated on this on but have been correct for the next rules release.
Is this game also for 6 players?
