I have my great grandfather's Case Stockman he bought new back in 1971. I also have my Case Trapper I got for my birthday 2 months ago. I love both of those knives. Case's quality is still top notch after 52 years.
I'm 69 years old still love case. I collect them as often as I can. Case is number 1 with me and my family. You cannot top case for collect abilities. Case is the undesputed leader in traditional pocket knives.
I collected Case knives for years, and a then I bought a Great Eastern Cutlery knife. I never knew you could get a production knife made in the USA without issues. The walk and talk, the centered blades, GEC knives are the best production knife made. Recently I sold over 100 Case knives for dimes on the dollar so I could have more storage space for more GEC’s. My collection of GEC’S has now doubled in value as well. But I ain’t sellin!!!!
Great video. One reason I continue buying Case is to help support jobs here in the USA. I've notice that quality in recent years has been excellent compared to what came out late 90s and very early 2000s.
I have a case shark tooth made in 1981. It’s been through it. The brass started to wear probably from in and out of the case so much. Sent it back to case and they repaired it. No cost to me and they paid for UPS shipping. They will always have my business. Great company American made.
@faultroy That's why you force a patina on your blades. You can patina the blades naturally by cutting cooked meat, especially beef.......or you can force a more consistent looking patina on the blades using apple cider vinegar that is heated. The patina actually protects the blades from rusting with minor care, such as simply wiping the blade clean after each use.
I have one of Case's knives and love it and have it in my collection which is growing larger now. The model I have is the 6254 with the SS below that model number and it has two blades in the knife. I am planning on buying another one to carry in my pocket and use it.

Case absolutely sucks nowadays, and this is coming from a man now 58 yrs old, who grew up loving Case knives. These videos are TOTALLY untruthful for how Case knives are really made today. Ask yourself WHY Case will not allow factory tours, unless it is their bi-annual PRE-PLANNED "factory tour for the public". That's because they do NOT want you to know what is REALLY taking place during production. They pull the same "magic show" in this video. But in reality, behind closed doors, a bunch of robots making sub-par cookie-cutter knives that are NOT "hand hafted" as they claim. A quick polish job on a rag wheel is NOT "a hand hafted knife". Trust me. Check out GEC ( Great Eastern Cutlery ).......and never look back.

@@howabouthetruth2157 The thing to consider is where CASE falls in the areas of price, place of manufacture and availability. They are a mass producer of knives that manufactures in the US. GEC is a boutique company compared to CASE. If each CASE knife was made in the same fashion and took as long to produce as a GEC, they would have the same fit and finish, cost just as much, and be just as difficult to find. I hear what you are saying, and it would be great if CASE could do things they way they did 50 years ago but the reality is they are not competing with GEC. The real competition is Rough Rider and ABKT.

I got my case pocket knife to emmulate my Pa. I have 3 now. And I know they will last longer than I will, an will be razor sharp, till I die. A man's knife.
I love my Case knives. I own a dozen of them and I'll surely get more. But most of them had uneven grinds and/or were either dull or still had a burr on them. The 3 CV blades that I have were fine, so IDK if that means anything? Also 5 of my current 7 Case Stockmans have bladerub where the clippoint meets the sheepsfoot. I have a S35VN medium Stockman on the way from DLT and I trust it'll be alright, but I am a little bit anxious because I live in Europe so returning it isn't going to be a real option. I wish that companies like Case and Benchmade would make their legendary warranty more accessible to European customers🙏Anyhoo, thanks for the tour👍
I just got my buffalo horn/S35VN Mini Trapper, so needless to say I was happy with my Stockman. Still wish Case would make them available through EU dealers though, and also still wish they would make their warranty more accessible to European customers😶
Great video and look into the skills involved in making these knives. I've yet to add one to my collection, but after watching this I'll be looking for a modern traditional style knife from Case soon!

I would just keep the knife after I got done working it on the buffer wheels and sharpening it assembling it. I would just snag it and put it in my pocket. I would pay for it later and let my boss know about it though. I would have an amazing collection.

Um.......you don't have much experience with traditional folding knives, because Case knives are NOT made to the high quality they once were. They have cut out most of the hand hafting processes, glued shields instead of shields pinned on the correct way, and years ago, they resorted to tumble-polished blades, which beats all the tips and crisp corners off the backs of each blade. Check out Great Eastern Cutlery: hands down, the very best factory pocket knives made today........barr none. They cost more, but they are worth every dollar, due to the old-world hand hafting techniques and the best blade grinds you will find anywhere.

FYI- Some of their new knives are made in China. All the Harley-Davidson models Tex-X etc. Very sad. Harley-Davidson is the one knife that should be US made.
I gotta say, I've been a Buck guy since I was 12 in 1982.. but.... I just got my first Case, a Blue Caribbean Copperhead with the *ucked up english blade (sorry, forgot the name, straight edge, looks kinda like a sheep'sfoot but with a curve..) and I'm pleased with the craftsmanship. I still edc a Buck 505, but this Copperhead? Her sole job is package opener. Replaced a 1991 SOG Sidewinder in that role. Sidewinder = clip blade, lousy choice for tape......
i bought a Case trapper 2 weeks ago. blade edges were rough and of poor grind. I think Case has become an imitation of its former self. Old timer and Schrade have met similar fates. I'm 52yo and as a teen i could take my grass cutting money and buy a US made Schrade or Case at a fair price. a Marlin in 444 would take 2 years to save up for however it was made by people who cared about their customer base.
the term Hand Crafted cant be used when it is mass produced like that. No different to Chinese Mass Production. Go look at Chris Reeve Knifes then you can say hand crafted. Case is mass production and in South Africa I find that they over priced for what you get. Sorry but it is what I see. I really want to get me a Medium Stockman 90mm closed length but it simply is not worth the money.

They just announced the Kickstart Trapperlock to be released this spring. Granted its not a switchblade, just assisted open

Case knives over the years have been not doing to great on the quality, have to fix about half of what I buy from them, other then that great knives
The finishing line needs to improve so much the blades & Bolsters should NOT have scratches all over them it’s a huge problem right now in my opinion.
Case needs to go to GEC and learn how to make knives again and GEC needs to go to Case and learn what honoring their warranty means.

Mass produced. I had one from 1999 and it was a nice knife. I bought 2 newer models and they had blade play and weren't even sharp. What a shit show.
