That's pretty cool! I like the the issues that go wrong and not editing out, what maybe to expect. Like the clamps coming off the bench, etc. I noticed that on other vibs..👍

I agree. That's one of the things that had drawn me to the channel in the first place. Instead of *poof* it's done, we get to see what us average tinkerers might attempt and see it fail. I never could get into the auto mechanic shows on television with the spacious clean shops, guys in polos and slacks working on clean parts, and do little more than point at what needs done.

guys in polos are grease sissys lol,i agree i love this channel its for the backyard guys who dont own full ,snap on tool sets or high end tools, ive seen numerouse tools on here from harbor freight lol,and the non editing and great detail is what dragged me in.

You can get an Oaty roof jack for a shift boot. They're the things used to seal roof penetrations where vent pipes come through roofs. Oaty makes nice rubber ones.

Something that may help, check out minimum bend radius for the alloy and thickness of metal you are working with. That can help you as you are drawing your layout. It will allow you to see exactly how much metal you need, and the exact point at which you need to clamp the sheet down to create the bend with it's minimum radius. I know in the video you said you brought the sheet out about an 1/8 of an inch, which is interesting because that is about the same for 2024-T3 sheet aluminum stock!
Also, if you will be doing this more often you might want to invest in a box and pan brake, or find someone who has one ;)
Thanks for the vids man! I don't own a jeep but I still love watching your channel.
If the internet doesn't give much info on minimum radius for steel, check out FAA 8380 Airframe Vol 1 for sheet metal layout. It focuses on aluminum stock but it will give you an idea and a jump start on the math.

If you have a bandsaw, you can cut out wood templates to match the outline so that you can use it as a guide for your Plasma cutter. I use a bandsaw and oscillating spindle sander to create a template

Love this channel. I'm playing catch up. Tip for next time, if you care, dividers will help you scribe curves like a pro. :) (Oh and if you cut the scribed templates out of plywood you can use it to cut right on your line with the plasma cutter. Makes cutting metal parts a lot nicer. )

What I found helpfull to do to make a nice straight bent is to tap a little line on the inside of the bent with a hammer and a chisel.
That makes it bent fairly easy, even on 1-1,5mm sheet metal.

So after the sheet is cut and you are happy with your edges and you are set and ready to make a bend, why not run a torch over the edge where you are about to make a bend? I think that would make it easier to bend and hopefully without any hammering..

    Matt
Would like to converse with you but do t know a lot. Out this utube like how to pm you w/o public seeing. I am building a tube frame off road racer two seat pick up truck style frame. All extra HD tubing etc. made a cardboard model of what me. Console will look like a d used carbon fiber/Kevlar hybrid material and glasses around the cardboard. I'm at a rough stage now. Got to hand finish and sand and even out areas. And. It the lid out of the top nose part of it I want it to open like a BBQ pit or coffin. Bad example. But cannot figure or decide how to make the lid water proof or at least resistant. Will hv a solid pin hinge all the way down one side, but I hv a saw blade width gap all wY around. Thought bout cutting some sheetmetal and hand finishing the radius and debuting edges of it & riveting it to the top of the door that way it will cover the gap and also serve as keeping a lot of debris out maybe running a small bead of silicon around as a gasket. Wanted it made from sheetmetal but do t hv a brake nor foot cutter. Pretty. Implicated piece and definitely one of a kind. Wished I knew how to post a. Video of it and I would post it. Gonna be a work of art this buggy when done
