Ok, so I was worn down, flat out exhausted as I watched this (not tired because of the video.. lol). I'm being asked to join an existing band that has some synths that are native to Logic Pro (and they don't want me to approximate them using Reason), but my machine will absolutely not run it because it's too out of date to have an operating system update that Logic Pro needs. As it turns out though, Mainstage DOES run on my machine. Am I able to take patches from Logic Pro and use them in Mainstage? Did I understand that correctly?
We had the exact same issue with the first channel getting lost when exported to Logic. Thank you for making this video, Peter. Also, we just clicked on the blank channel and moved it left to the first channel strip position.
interesting - you mean you were able to click and drag a channel to a different position in Mainstage? I haven't been successful in doing that. Let me know if you have any secrets!
I get wanting to transfer Logic sounds, into main stage. Not the other way around. Main stage by comparison seems ultra limited. I guess you can just change the instrument in the ms channel strip.
Excellent video, thanks. It would be cool if Mainstage allowed one to record and save a recording for each track, so one could record a live song in Mainstage but do post production in Logic, but as far as I can tell this is not possible. You can record the whole song and save it to a single file in Mainstage but that's it (afaik). I guess you'd have to run both Logic and Mainstage during the performance, which seems risky. Let me know if I'm wrong and this can be done!
Hi Peter, thanks for the sharing, good learning.. Can you elaborate more how to export/import AUX channel strip from Mainstage to Logic Pro X? I have saved AUX channel strip setting from Mainstage in .cst file to hard drive (under Music --> Audio Music Apps --> Channel Strip Settings --> Bus folder) Unfortunately, I don't success to import this setting in Logic Pro X. I add new AUX channel strip in mixer panel, but there is no way to re-call the AUX channel strip that I have saved in .cst. Please advise if I did the wrong way.
My patches don't transfer as a group they become individual tracks when I import them in logic and only play the sound of that individual track when I play it.
You saved the day. Thank you.
Glad to hear it!
This was so incredibly helpful. Thanks a ton.
Glad it was helpful!
THANK YOU! Creating that new first channel really helped me! I've been wondering why I was losing sounds when I transferred patches. Great stuff.
Very informative! Thanks Peter

This didnt work for me sorry but thanks anyways
Did not work for me. When i load patch all show up as individual sounds and only the first instrument does sound
Thank you for letting me know. I will look into it and see if these instructions are outdated.
