Man, I gotta be honest, at the beginning of this video I had some serious doubts. Thank god I kept watching, you kicked some serious ass here. Well done. I was totally grooving out to it. Really dug how you built upon a simple loop and made it shine.
@@looseleafjournal I'm stubborn and like to go against the grain (so no Ableton), so I am trying to take a crack at MainStage in an effort to get a live show going. I thought it would be straightforward as I am a logic user, but man, its a bit daunting. But this video was inspiring, thank you!
Dan Tremblay honestly, Ableton is probably a better solution but I agree. I enjoy the workflow, controls and instruments in mainstage so much more. If I was going to perform live though, I’d probably look into a abelton/rewire solution.
Hi Joshua! For me the most helpful would be understanding how you set up Mainstage for the live performance. What are all the buttons, faders, etc. doing, how it's configured to use your midi controller. I was able to replicate bits of your setup, but as a whole...
Hey , could you point me towards some resources that helped you in your learning process? Im trying to understand, are you toggling through different loopbacks for each instrument that are routed to midi faders? Im amazed at your control. With this method, would it be possible to play all drum elements on a drum pad simultaneously while still recording individual loops which can then be faded? Any help would be great
Sorry I took so long to respond! I didn’t even notice people had watched this video! Ha. Almost everything has been self taught as far as Mainstage goes. For this session I built placed multiple instances of the Loopback plugin on the session layer on Aux strips. I then made a bunch of different patches and routed them each into one of those Loopback Auxes instead of the main output. I then put midi control of the volume to faders in my keyboard and arming of the Loopback plug in drum pads on my keyboard. Keys and Drum sounds at Mainstage sounds and the guitar is a Helix Native plugin. I know that’s a lot but I hope that answered your question. Thanks for watching!
Como lo haces, me gustaría poder hacerlo yo también? Tengo equipo pero no se como hacerlo? Me puedes explicar los pasos? Gracias y un abrazo. Muy xulo!!!!
Wow - this was really great! I wasn't totally sold at the start, but what you did at 3:20 pulled me in totally and then just love that sound you got on your guitar. Really awesome song - loved it! How did you get that sound on your guitar - are those Logic affects?
You are doing essentially what I plAn on doing for my next professional project man. Im gonna use mainstage for live psytrance/rock music. Similar to Infected Mushroom, Skazi, 1200 micrograms, etc. Ill sub to ya here and get your info. Maybe we could work together on somethin. I live in ohio and have some pretty solid connections in the business man.
christopher short , I’m using the Line 6 Helix Native as an instrument inside Mainstage. I believe I’m using a matchless with a basic memory man delay, and long reverb.
Hey man. I know it’s been awhile since you’ve uploaded this, but would you mind sending me the template for this if I gave you my email? This is exactly what I’ve been looking for
Joshua Winters Kbiben29@gmail.com Thank you so much! If you send the template I’m sure I can just open it in mainstage and any third party plugins you’ve added might not load. I’m just having a hell of a time getting it set up to use guitar and midi at the same time.
Joshua Winters thanks for this video, I would also love to get the template for this, would you mind sending it to me also? Thanks very much. youtube@creativekudos.com
I’m really curious about the setup. How you’ve arranged the workspace.
For the love of god, please give us a tutorial!
Amazing Sound!!! How do you quantize any sound with loopback in Mainstage. I can't manage it. Any help would be appreciated!
Logic Pro X has automatic audio stretching to essentially quantize anything with the beat. Im assuming the same engine is running in mainstage.
@@jedimindtrix2142 not really, that's why I was asking for. Maybe there Is something I miss. Anyway, thanx for the answer 👍🏻
I was also paying attention if whether I was getting used to the human mistakes or it started to quantize the more he played each part.
@@kaspartambur it quantize automatically as Logic X does...the problem is...how?

@@looseleafjournal nooo, why? :D Why not still try and push the Mainstage route to live looping live? This video gave me hope too. :D
@@kaspartambur Mainstage doesn't have a built-in timeline and would be severely limited. Rewire with Logic or Ableton is best bet.
This is AMAZING!! Wow! 🤩
Would LOVE a tutorial
Well done, nice job! God choice of sounds, matches well together.
So sweeeeet!!!
Awesome live looping!
Lots of potential mate! keep working on it!.😎
This is a great tune! Are you using pedals or Guitar Rig?
Are you using the build in MainStage looper (loopback)? or something else? Cool looping btw!
Jammed with you..Dreamy bells in Logic, nice together .)
Thank you!
Any chances you could share the mainstage template you did for this?
As a beginner Mainstage user I really liked your performance! You should do a tutorial!
Thank you! I may do that. What would be helpful for you to see in that?

And yes to the drum pad question. It’s all about planning ahead with routing though. You’d have to have an idea of how you wanted to do that.

The guitar just has some overdrive, delay and reverb
