Drive Flanges... what's that clunk?

  • What's that noise? ...or... Things that go clunk in the night!
    Backlash in a Land Rover drive train is an all-to-common problem. Today we are looking at one of the main culprits - drive flanges!!! Why they are a problem, and what you can do to fix it.

    Great video. I have a clunk in my drivetrain, but it's a 2008 Puma and I think it's the gearbox output shaft. Another LR terrible design with a dry spline 😢

    can you get after market one peace axle and flanges i wonder if you could weld the originals up so they are one peace

      You wouldn’t be able to take the hub apart do replace brake rotors or bearings/seals or even re-grease the bearings

      Yes the one piece drive flange and half shaft exists and many people retrofit these to do away with play at the drive flange.
