I know that is the issue = if I could get shot of these Land Rovers! This is the sort of thing we had in mind ca.pinterest.com/pin/716142778239310290/ but we can custom-make them if the customer has a design
Wow. Quite a machine. Most of us won't want to cut more than 5mm. The chassis walls on my OKA aren't much more than that. I particularly like how it dealt with the thin stuff so quickly, which would minimise warp. Far cry from the old Oxy acet torch eh Mike? Might have to get me one.
I only use my bottles for heating/bending - and I use propane The Plasma cuts great, and these inverter machines are super light - downside is having a suitable extension and breaker if you are working outside the shop This one was one of the top ones as it is CNC capable, but there is a same amperage but cheaper available
Nuzzle size is often overlooked , you need an 0.8mm to run 20 amps and the lower air pressure. Many of the cutters comes with a 1.2mm as stock for cutting high amps and higher pressure. When cutting down towards the floor , it good to have some kind of water container to capture the molten metal , otherwise your nice floor will be not so nice anymore. Anyhow nice kit and the most fancy display I ever have seen.
@@BritannicaRestorations That is a nice option if you need it and good they offer one without CNC input. 16mm is practical. If you are making an armored personnel carrier.
Mike the brake regulator you replaced on the 300tdi Can you open up and see why it was blocked and how it reduces the rear breaking- ie did Landrover go too restrictive to be safe- how much does it reduce the pressure- one of your experiments would be a great idea.
Hello, I once tested a 220 volt plasma cutter in my workshop, but the 16 ampere fuse of my 220 group kept breaking, how is your experience? looking at the input and output power 3520 watts compared to 11000 watts? Could IGBT technology be the basis for this? Thanks for the nice programs .Rob
Hi, how thick is a Defender Chassis? Reason is, I'm a wheelchair user and would like to get a Defender after I break my Freelander Td4. I have this crazy idea of fitting some form of lift system to enable me to get into the car. I just need a lift of around 8 inches. I'm thinking of a platform on a cantilever.
Plasma Cutters have got cheaper & cheaper. I bought one years ago for more £££, not much larger than this but from a Brand Name (still made in Republic of Chinesium) and with less features. It’s hard to compete with, if it fails throw it in the bin and buy another but hardly environmentally friendly compared to my 50year old welder which still works perfectly but is 45 the size & 10x the weight.
This inverter MIG/ plasma are super light and after using them for about 6 /7 years they are pretty reliable - but they are a bit tricky to set up for the steel or metal you are using - I do not do a lot of fabrication or chassis repairs now, so when I do get them out it is a bit of trial and error! But once set you are off to the races!
That'll be handy for carving the Sunday roast.
When you started this channel I'll bet you never thought everyday would be Christmas! 😆😎
Lol! Nice thing is I keep the newest stuff and give the last one away - or I would be cluttered with MIG's, Plasmas and diagnostic tools!
Good bit of kit for the workshop, I've had one of these inverter plasma cutters for years, even Lidl got one for sale £119
Yes and very easy to use - looks like there may be a winter project coming on to make a CNC table!
@@BritannicaRestorations Look forward to seeing how that goes, like you I don't have the room for one.

Better than the old burning gear

Thanks for the tips!
Your nice shoes may not be so nice either. I have no idea how that could happen.
@@jamescaron6465 I only do welding in sandals 🤣

Looks like a nice bit of kit.
Yes - there is a cheaper version without the CNC input, but to be honest I rarely cut more than 5mm steel so 16mm is a bit overkill

Generally 2 - 3 mm depending on the placement on the chassis - I think the original main frame is 2 mm
