For everyone saying there's a good deal of psychobilly artist here. My bad. Usually, when I put on Horror Punk playlists, these artist I've included are always there. So let's all agree for this video that Horror Punk can also be a bit of an umbrella genre where punk and psychobilly can co-exist, or I'm a big dumb idiot who shouldn't trust user playlist... YOU DECIDE!
Psychobilly and Horrorpunk intermingle so clearly that its fine if you include some Psycho bands every now and again, I'm just personally more excited to see some of my favorite bands on a more popular channel like this since Psychobilly isn't featured basically fucking anywhere
They do have overlap. A lot of people who like psychobilly like horrorpunk, and vice versa. However YOU'RE STILL A BIG DUMB IDIOT just kidding, your videos are very informative and even though I basically know the genres inside and out this is still a lot of fun to watch and you did a great job. I would love to see you doing on psychobilly though! I bet you could do some crazy shit with that!
I love Ghoultown. Don't know if they're really atypical Horrorpunk, but they bop. Koffin Kats are fun aswell. I actually haven't listened to the Misfits yet (How? I don't know)
Jerry Only is a super chill guy. I was the first person camping out for a Misfits show and he came out and brought me some food and a Devil's Rain poster and hung out with me while we was working out for like an hour. He put me and a friend on the guest list, so then could sell my ticket and get a t-shirt after the show .
We appreciate your approach to this subject, and are flattered that you showcased us prior to mentioning the Misfits. We unfortunately are more inspired by Alice Cooper, Kiss and Gwar. The problem with including us in this video is that the horror punk genre considers us too metal. So we are going to need a horror metal video...but we are not metal enough for them either. We just don’t have what it takes to be part of the cool kids clubs. But you...you include us in what you consider an integral part of something, and for that we thank you.
we should make a Tim Burton themed punk band with Beetlejuice on guitar Jack Skellington on vocals Edward Scissor hands on bass and Mad Hatter on drums.
This was my obsession when I was 14-15 (until I discovered Doom Metal). I literally facepalmed when I started realizing how many bands used those chord progressions and I was literally listing off songs with those exact chords and that exact rhythm... Screw it, where're my copies of Dayglo Necros and Fashion of Fear?
as a person who still listens to horror punk from time to time, all I want to say is I freaking love your videos and I would love to see a how-to video on the psychobilly genre next year.
i still cant believe all my friends growing up didnt hear the elvis impression in the misfits vocals. always said i was crazy. its so obvious. im convinced they had just never heard an elvis song before.
This music sounds like every other band I was in in the mid to late 80's. Back then, we just called it, "Punk". I've never heard of it referred to as, "Horror Punk". And your song title sounds seriously like an album title that "Alien Sex Fiend" would have come up with.
Genre classification usually comes later (since it's hard to classify things before you see how their trends and average traits shake out) and it's determined by the qualities of the music rather than how the individuals playing that music prefer to label it. In fact it's probably the norm for people making music in budding genres to not actually know what genre they turn out to be playing, although in the post-internet world where labels and communities spread insanely fast that's probably changing. Like I imagine the gap between the first vaporwave music and the self-awareness and identification of vaporwave artists as vaporwave arists was significantly smaller than it was with something like this.
@@TheSquareOnes I understand that. Back in the 80's, I was doing a LOT of experimentation with tape. I used to create tape music by making rythms with found sounds, or snippets recorded over and over again from music albums, and I would just saturate the recordings with recorded found sound till they were pretty much a wall of noise with insane rythms knitting the whole thing together. What I was actually creating was "Industrial Music". I was pretty much doing everything that Throbbing Gristle was doing. But at the time, I didn't know that "Industrial Music" even existed. Where I lived, you just had no access to any of the bands or individuals creating it. I used to call my "music", "Sound Collage". It was different than Musique Concrete, and it was very.. punk. More punk than punk, in my opinion, because at the time, all the punk bands all constructed their music with the same sounds (guitar, bass, drums, vocals). I was pretty much saying at the time, "Using the standard setup of guitar, bass, drums, is what EVERYONE is using. I rebelled against even THAT. This "new" Sound Collage thing was the REAL punk in my opinion at the time. I felt that it spat in the face of anything considered music. Punk, despite how noisy it was, was still recognizable as music. Sound Collage was.. just this unrecognizable mess that was different every time you listened to it. It wasn't until years later that I discovered other bands that were doing similar stuff and were working with the same ideas I was.
I work with a horror punk band (creating artwork and occasionally performing monster characters) and....yeah, this is pretty much 100% accurate. Thank goodness for public domain horror movies!
Everyone is just secretly a Misfits fan. Ps: I particularly think a REAL theremin sounds better and more atmospheric than an usual synth, but find this kind of shit is hard so whatever.
The "Misfits for dummies" guide book 😈 But jokes aside, that's one catchy song as all good horror punk songs should be. Also, Robot Monsters would've been a killer name for a horror punk band.
You deserve so much more recognition in the TH-cam music community dude, you put a lot of effort in your videos, you are funny and I love your channel man, keep it up.
That song was better than most modern horrorpunk I’ve heard. Good job! You should check out this band The Rosedales. They’re from Chicago and been around since the 2000’s. Their sound is more unique than most horrorpunk, if not most rock bands at the time. It’s a bit more melodic and moody and it rocks. The first time I heard it I was hooked. Definitely worth to check out!
"Horror movies are movies that horrifies you"... So, every Nicholas Cage movie?... Wait, Nicholas Cage in an horrorpunk band would actually be awesome!
This needs to be an album (looks like you are almost halfway there already). Ever since the Nintendocore video, these songs have been getting top tier legit.
Honestly, this is such a fun format. I am not at all suprised you are successful with this. Really well written, and I can clearly see the fun you are having. Stay creative like this!

@@j.is.w4sted it definitely is nice to see psychobilly get attention. That was pretty exciting seeing Mad Sin in there.
i thought he was gonna say "if the dead kennedys were the UNDEAD keneddys" in the intro
Undead Kennedys were a thing in my area for awhile. Cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch was the singer. for real.
@Daylight Spook Weren't The Cramps Psychobilly? It's not exactly Horrorpunk, but Psychobilly had a huge influence on it.
I was expecting, "If Jello was like, REALLY, into The Twilight Zone."
Horrorpunk is one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" genres. It works, and is just fun.
Also the song was 👌👌👌
I love Ghoultown. Don't know if they're really atypical Horrorpunk, but they bop. Koffin Kats are fun aswell. I actually haven't listened to the Misfits yet (How? I don't know)
Oh, no. It's broke. I spent 8 years with The Misfits. They're more fucked up than Humpty Dumpty.
Oh my god I LOVE the fake drumset! Andreas is doing his very best.
"Fake"?? What do you mean fake? He's carrying the whole show!
@MomoTheBellyDancer the what?

As a metalhead all I have to say is this song was metal not punk because the tritone makes metal. Tell the metalheads, hey tritone in music.
The rap from 'Leprechaun in the Hood' is totally an exampke of horrorcore. The rap/hiphop equivalent of horror punk
Here in brazil we have a strong horrocore movement. With groups like T.e.r.r.o.r Gang, Lord Tagman and Patrick Horla
Pagefire!!!! You son of a gun! hahaha! Great video! Thanx for including us! -Davey 🎃🎃🦇
Thank you so much for inspiring me with your music and taking on a journey that would lead me to make this video! This means so much. :) 🎃💀🎃
You should make a collaboration.
But regular punk already did plenty of songs about the most bloodthirsty and sadistic monster of all time: Reagan.
😂 Agreed. Nixon too.
Reagan was a monster.
Iron Reagan is the sh!t. Members from Municipal Waste and Darkest Hour.
REAGAN’S IN
REAGAN YOUTH
FUCK YOU REAGAN
Etc etc
we should make a Tim Burton themed punk band with Beetlejuice on guitar Jack Skellington on vocals Edward Scissor hands on bass and Mad Hatter on drums.
Basically any high school mall goth band really 🤷
So Dir en grey but replace the metal with doo-wop punk?
Like, ya got any pumpkin spice ciggies? I just like, literally can’t even right now.
Hey!!!

Back in the 80's, all the death rock kids smoked clove cigarettes.

Andri's homestuck guitar catches me off guard every time. we will never be safe, we will never be free from hussie.
Theres no escape UwU
Oh gods it is what i thought it was
I chose to innocently read a web comic and now I'm trapped forever within Hussie's web
I can't believe how good these songs are. This is better than most actual horrorpunk, lol.
Immediately thought the same. It's really damn good.
I was thinking the same. Like he wasn't lying when he was saying a lot of horror punk is just copy cats, and a lot of it isn't even good at that.
Well, the song actually is horror punk. The description before was very detailed and the song fulfills all the criteria...
For real, that was a thick groove!
This was my obsession when I was 14-15 (until I discovered Doom Metal).

Oh shit ! Blitzkid was my local band ! I miss seeing them in that shady dive punk bar
I was so excited to see them on tour this year...
What part of WV you from?
Yooo me and my exwife used to jam out to Blitzkid back in the day! Good times...
did not expect to see best detective girl in a Pagefire video, but I ain't suprised
Here to say, Calabrese is an awesome Horror Punk band I think everyone should check out
this team does it all.. audio, video, teaching and it killlzzzzzz... amazing!!!!
Never in history of music so few did so little to burst egos of so many!
This guy's videos are underrated!
Now a Pagefire/Calabrese crossover NEEDS to happen. Also, this makes me childishly hopeful that Andri will do a dedicated episode for psychobilly.
I would legit have a heart attack if this happend lmaooo

i still cant believe all my friends growing up didnt hear the elvis impression in the misfits vocals. always said i was crazy. its so obvious. im convinced they had just never heard an elvis song before.

"Whitney Houston, we have a problem"

It was definitely a thing, check out "The Screaming Dead"
Alien Sex Fiend songs typically more like artsy goth club music than your run off the mill Misfits clone though

This. Mathcore too

Short answer: Stitch together the best parts of goth, pop punk, hardcore and (optional) rockabilly and there you go.
You're not wrong
Not a horropunk band, but this song kinda reminded me of Turbonegro... and that's awesome!
