Ah close enough. Although that kind of mash up would lead to some interesting ideas. Overwatch with cars, would be interesting. Cat and mouse is already pretty close to escorting the payload, and "point attack" with cars would be fun (I'm thinking a minimum drift score instead of a just staying on the point).
Fun fact: in fh4 there is actually a race circuit in Edinburgh that is an exact copy of pgr2 Edinburgh princess circuit. Also 2008 was a wild time for racing games, especially with titles like grid, mcla, burnout paradise and this game right here.
Also the a few of the devs from Bizarre are now on the Forza Horizon team. so Im p-sure that Edinburgh track is a little easter egg. It was one of the more popular tracks in the PGR series.
No. No! Don't say that. It's fantastic! The cars, the soundtrack, and the reward after beating the entire career on platinum was ABSOLUTE torture, but when you do and the game complimenting you for the accomplishment? So worth it.
Also, speaking of the garages, I love how all of them had, what was it, Geometry Wars? The Waves version specifically. It was honestly a great way to kill time if you did get bored of the races, but couldn't be bothered to put a different game in the Xbox.
I think many ex-Bizarre Creations employees went on to work at Playground games so I guess their spirit kinda lives on, but PGR was a certain breed of Racing games that I absolutely miss. You should definitely give Bizarre Creations’s next and final racing game “Blur” a look; it’s a very fun racer in its own right.
And playground games used to have that spirit until the soulless cash grab that is modern forza horizon games, people don't realise that if you make a game that people like and think is good, no matter how controversial it is, people will play it, somewhat ironically rockstar is the only studio that does that (ignore gta online and the definitive trilogy)
Great video!! I still play PGR 3 and 4 to this day. I recently purchased another Xbox 360 just for PGR. By far my favourite racing game of all time and I've done the 1000/1250G multiple times on different accounts. In my opinion, this game has never been bettered and is the pinnacle of this genre. Why Microsoft haven't made this backwards compatible is beyond me. I actually created a Gamertag called Bizarre Creations lol
I still miss these games and wish they would make a come back. One thing you will notice right when you start playing is the physics. i still throw this game on and play once in a while simply because the physics are still satisfying to drive. The single player is really unique and still much more creative and interesting than games of today. Its really nice to see some love for this game as it has always been on of my favorites. Awesome video Moses
My favourite racing game ever! Graphics and weather systems ahead of it's time. Beautiful sound design. Amazing tracks fit for all car classes. Ranked multiplayer. Gotham TV (basically the first streaming/viewing system in console games). Genuinely challenging AI and a engaging single player campaign. Cars balanced better than other games. A truly brilliant game. Anyone remember the Turbine Superbike?! I used to use switch between D-Pad and analogue stick steering on this game because both were so fun. My first ever world record was even on PGR4, great memories here. It's spirit kinda lives on in Forza Horizon, but I'll always prefer PGR (Cat & Mouse was hilarious in this game!) Great video, Moses B! Thanks for highlighting this racing gem on your channel for others to learn about.
I loved this game and series as a whole with PGR4 being my favorite of the series. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the Arcade Style, Circuit-Racing Genre oh and it's Bizarre Creations not Blizzard Games. lol
I loved this game & it still blows my mind that they got the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges & the surrounding areas right!!!(I've driven on both of them multiple times). Also that 1 lap race around the Nordschliefe in the rain was fucking hell on earth! I still can't beat it to this day! Ugh 😩 They need to remaster this and pgr 3 already!
I think the most amazing part of PGR was the fact it featured the Nordschleife and Macau. This is an expectation generally fulfilled by every PC sim and GT/Forza but in the context of a pure arcade racer, being able to run the Ring, at night and in the snow on a bike is insane. Macau too is even in the sim world very rare and is mostly to this day a rfactor mod passed around games that will support it. No arcade racer featured it that i remember, not even TOCA.
This game has a special place in my heart, not even Forza Horizon can take its place because I can't play it with my friends on the same console. Damn you microsoft, if you're not gonna release a sequel, at least let me play this game on the current gen, I still have the disc! Edit: Before someone recommends Forza Motorsport - We've been playing it due to lack of any other choice but I don't like driving being *that* realistic. it feels so slow that i'd rather go out for a bike ride or drive my real car
Great video! It's sad to see this series gone. I never played PGR4, but I played PGR3 and it was a really cool and unique game. That being said though, some of the characteristics of this game are now in games like TC2 and Forza Horizon, which is nice to see.
Loved the video. And OMG i totally forgot about the sledgehammer and turbine bike. They were probably my favorite vehicles. Almost impossible to keep on the track, but if you could it was just a matter of not losing too much in the corners and you'd obliterate anything on the straights. This video makes me want to get a 360 even more. God this game was awesome. Such a shame it doesn't exist anymore, maybe MS should make Forza a tri-yearly franchise and add a game like this to the line-up. (Wishful thinking do 😢)
For some reason I've never heard about this game, and man, now I'm adding it to a list. Love older racing games like this one. Thanks for bringing my attention to this. And the video is a piece of good work as usual.
@@RustyHondas yeah it's insane mate. I love driving and sliding the Ferrari F430 about and many other cars. The cockpit details and engine sounds are superb. Still the best arcade style racer to date. The Developers did an amazing job. Can you imagine a 4K 60/120fps of PGR4?

Hearing that intro gave me crazy chills. It’s been such a ridiculous amount of time since I heard it, and it’s such a fitting theme for the game. Downloading Xenia now, specifically for this game. Staple of my childhood.
I honestly don't think there is a game that I have played as much as PGR4 and wanted it brought back. I honestly love this game to death and I actually don't have a single complaint about the game. I know you didn't talk about the multiplayer (not sure how much of it you played) but that for me was the highlight especially the bulldog game mode. Massively enjoyed the lookback on PGR4 either way.
@@UltraViolet_Moses that's a shame. The multiplayer was fun af. Bulldog essentially is infection but you go play around the entire map. The best part was it was and wasn't a team game. Foxes vs hairs but each player was still competing with each other and it made the game mode stupid fun. Cat and mouse was great obviously racing too. The only real weaker one was free roam Kudos cause it was dlc and very rare to get a lobby
Man this game was my life when i was 11. Until one day after school i scratched it with the excitement of wanting to continue my career save. Im now 23 and im going to go to my local game store tomorrow and buy a version and finish my career. Thanks for this video helped me rationalise why 11 year old me loved this game so much and why i was brokenhearted when i broke it !
Thank you for the kind word at the end of the video. And thank youf or showing this. I always wondered what I missed out not having a playstation or a xbox, and I admit I missed alot. Maybe reason why I hang so much on modern forza horizon titles as on PC there simply was never a PGR series. The coolest thing we got was the TDU 1 and 2 I think. At last cool for my interest of playing. Kind of love admiring cars for what they are and crze. This game I got to say I love the garage feature. I wish more games would have something like it. The car list is also jsut epic in my opinion. something awesome for everyone.
I'm so glad you did the voice over for Darwin's family tree (awesome video btw), so I could find this gem of a channel. The intro to this video was a surge of nostalgia. This game gave me the best sense of progression. At first I couldn't complete the Class A car Nürburgring race (the race-tracky one, not the jungley one) in arcade mode even on steel difficulty, I had already completed all other, but as I improved I was eventually able to beat it by coming first on Platinum difficulty. One of the most memorable moments in gaming for me.
I will always remember the day where I first listened to PGR3 sound motors samples by the summer of 2005. The sound of the F355. I litteraly cried and said to myself ‘It can’t be real’.
This will forever be one of my favorite games. I purchased it on Amazon around 12 years ago for 52 cents, total 81 cents with shipping. Today it is close to 50 €s, and I absolutely see why. This game cemented the Callaway Corvette and GMC Syclone in my list of my favorite cars, and I wish the Callaway was street legal in Germany, because I would do anything (including saving for it) to get my hands on it. Guess I will buy a GMC Syclone instead, even though I don't like the automatic all that much.
Beautiful throwback, man. Your video is a classic and deserves more views. Racing games just ain't built like this anyway. The closest we got to this was Driveclub (which I consider a spiritual sucessor) and that was also taken from us. I always find myself revisiting PGR4, and just recently got to number 1 rank. I just wanted to end this comment with a huge fuck you to Jacek Myrcha. That bastard gave me so much trouble. What a ride. Anyway shoutout to all the PGR lovers out there
Love this video! I was a huge PGR fan when I got the first Xbox as a kid! You nailed it on the head too, it was people like us the real racing game enthusiasts that would sink hours into these to level up and unlock everything. I miss these games and the old GT and underground nfs where everything was set races with tracks. Open world is fine but gets boring if you are one player by yourself.
I don't understand why all modern-day racing games have a personality of a dirty gas station bathroom, it's like they don't wanna challenge people or they wanna open to new people that never played a single game in their life.
I bought an old school xbox360 last year just for this game cause I loved it so much back in the day. Its still great today for me. If I want serious I play asseto corsa with a wheel. But its nice to sit back and have fun with this one and the vehicle sounds are awesome too
PGR 3 was my first Xbox360 game, i love to play it everyday when i return Home from school. Sadly My 360 got the red ring and i sell all the games and accesories
This game was incredible at the time, i was so impressed with the visuals and gameplay. This series deserved to be up there with the most popular racers. I've played countless racing games, and this is certainly one of the better ones. This was the game i always picked back up whenever i was in the mood for a different racing experience. It was probably the game i noticed the most difference in skill within online races. Despite being an arcade racer , the skill gap was quite large and it took time to be among the fastest in the lobbies. I wish it had a bigger following.
My favorite racing game along with the pgr3, fm3, and fm4 What I liked about the elimination mode is when I replay during the elimination mode when one of the drivers to get eliminated, the driver disappeared and the car suddenly turned into a ghost
PGR 4 was absolutely amazing fun, especially the cat and mouse races. I used to race every night with several other guys from (literally) all over the world.
There’s only one main thing you forgot. Being able to play the Arcade Geometry Wars inside the game! Having an arcade machine inside of your garage so awesome!
Guys, I was just reunited with this game on this wonderful winter day!! This game's sound effects are still top tier, and as he said in the video, the atmosphere makes these race courses and that guitar filled OST makes those $6 dollars well spent. 😎✌️✌️
PGR is imo one of the most underrated but also one of the most influential racing game series out there. I remember playing Metropolis Street Racer via Emulator and I really loved its style and its unique progression system. Also the soundtrack is nice too where they also have TJ Davis (the vocalist from the Sonic R soundtrack). Later on I tried out PGR 2 and was mind blown by the things you can do (walking around the garage and around the showroom, play Geometry Wars and the multilingual soundtrack with the real life radio stations being the cherry on top) PGR 4 is also amazing for its unique selection of vehicles, the aesthetic and the overall gameplay. Like driving around the Nordschleife in snow is the most jackass thing ever but it's so awesome. I also love the gestures the bikers can do whenever you overtake an opponent for example. I really want a new closed track simcade so badly. Grid Legends is like the most recent game that gives me PGR vibes and I love it a lot. Shame that it didn't got much attention though
the only pgr i never played was the 3, because i didnt have an xbox when it came out but man, pgr4 was my game with pro street back then...really miss these simple days
My favourite racing game of all time. So many great memories. I complete career mode once a year. Enough said, PGR4's soundtrack is stuck in my brain froever.
ive loved blur since the day i was playing it split-screen on a ps3 and playing this for the first time over xenia it really is worth the hype, only career ive enthusiastically played through in a long time. I'm not a bike guy at all (i dont know how any of them would've compared in real life) but they remind me of midnight club 2; optional, hard to master but really fast. i've ended up riding bikes most of the time due to how it feels, down to the animations of the rider
Ayo bro I heard ur dad is that useful charts guy, hes a cool guy, wont lie I tried to find a pirated version of his chart but I had no luck g, best of luck to your YT
Greatest racing game ever. Second is drive club by the way, it’s pgr4 for the ps4. It’s so good too but not pgr4. This game is like a love for me. I still remember the day I brought it and how I would just play it for hours at a time. Glorious.
My favorite racing series. That's really saying something. As I love a few. But they hit the goldilocks zone with PGR. Just perfect right in the middle of Arcade/Sim. So many memories of all of them. Sorely missed. BTW, it's Bizarre Creations. Not Blizzard Creations. Cheers!
To this day, the best engine sounds in any racing game are in pgr4. PGR and Burnout series are a total loss for arcade racing fans. Hope we get something similar one day
Picked up 3&4 the other day for a pound each haven't had the chnace to try them yet been replaying the gears trilogy the only good games in the series.
I don't have PGR 4 which saddens me and I'm going to buy it at some point and now I love PGR 3 (since I have it and am decent and able to get platinum on most events with the F50 GT) and am leaning towards getting 2 but I wish I didn't say goodbye to Bizzare 8 years late maybe beating these three games will be a tribute to this sub-genre of games and of memories long gone but unfortunately, my preference for PGR over Forza has created a love/hate relationship with Forza since they indirectly killed this franchise but I still respect those games and have fun with FM1, 4, and FH5
Nice video! Couldn't agree with you more. NFS Unbound really doesn't do it for me, Forza Horizon 5 has no progression, Gran Turismo 7 is too sweaty, Assetto Corsa is too complicated, Project Cars 2 is dead and I'm afraid to try 3. You should try GRID Legends. It's got a lot of fun city circuit racing with a variety of road and track cars with all sorts of weather. It's definetly not on the same level as PGR but it is in the same genre which makes it fun! The new Test Drive Solar Crown game is yet to be released but that'll be open world so who knows what the quality on that will be, but Test Drive Unlimited 2 was a good experience overall. The Crew Motorfest just released to good reviews all around. So we have at least 2 solid arcade racers with 1 open-world game on the way. The genre may not be dead its just not in the golden era anymore. I'll tell you what though. I miss games like NFS Underground 1. Talk about a game with huge art style and visuals, without sacrificing good gameplay mechanics and level design. (I can forgive the rubberbanding A.I. lol)
If Phil Spencer was the goat of xbox ceo's he would bring this back if the ABK deal goes through. PGR was my jam to the point that I found your video after thinking about emulating the game lol. Now I wonder can you still buy it in the xbox store?
PGR still is owned by Microsoft they can definitely resurrect the franchise but I think open world racing games are in and circuit racer’s don’t sell as much
You know, from what you've said about the game, it looks like it has a loooot of similarities with Driveclub. I wonder if the developers took inspiration from PGR4...
So me being me, somehow started saying “Blizzard Creations” later in the video L M A O, so please forgive me I swear I’m not always this dumb

It was probably the game i noticed the most difference in skill within online races. Despite being an arcade racer , the skill gap was quite large and it took time to be among the fastest in the lobbies. I wish it had a bigger following.
Time to break out the 360 and play PGR3, great video m8.
My favorite racing game along with the pgr3, fm3, and fm4
What I liked about the elimination mode is when I replay during the elimination mode when one of the drivers to get eliminated, the driver disappeared and the car suddenly turned into a ghost
Well said, thanks for sharing this video.
My pleasure!
Guys, I was just reunited with this game on this wonderful winter day!! This game's sound effects are still top tier, and as he said in the video, the atmosphere makes these race courses and that guitar filled OST makes those $6 dollars well spent. 😎✌️✌️
YOU ACTUALLY PUT THE BEETHOVEN THING LMFAOOOOOO
multiplayer was amazing !! as an American I got to play with people around THE WORLD. CAR Soccer AND tag were my favorites
Later on I tried out PGR 2 and was mind blown by the things you can do (walking around the garage and around the showroom, play Geometry Wars and the multilingual soundtrack with the real life radio stations being the cherry on top)
PGR 4 is also amazing for its unique selection of vehicles, the aesthetic and the overall gameplay.
The fact that there was cars and bikes made it a win for me...
the only pgr i never played was the 3, because i didnt have an xbox when it came out but man, pgr4 was my game with pro street back then...really miss these simple days
Metropolis Street Racer was, and still is one of my favorite racing games. Playing right now on my steam deck 😂.
here in 2024 playing pgr4 right now! no online games active ):
My favourite racing game of all time. So many great memories. I complete career mode once a year. Enough said, PGR4's soundtrack is stuck in my brain froever.
I was a dumb kid thought this was something to do with batman 😅
Snowy Nürburgring on this game is a core memory
ive loved blur since the day i was playing it split-screen on a ps3 and playing this for the first time over xenia it really is worth the hype, only career ive enthusiastically played through in a long time. I'm not a bike guy at all (i dont know how any of them would've compared in real life) but they remind me of midnight club 2; optional, hard to master but really fast. i've ended up riding bikes most of the time due to how it feels, down to the animations of the rider
Great video I have just started arcade mode again
You are never bored during the single player.
In my humble opinion, they made the wrong choice dropping this franchise and going with Horizons
Ayo bro I heard ur dad is that useful charts guy, hes a cool guy, wont lie I tried to find a pirated version of his chart but I had no luck g, best of luck to your YT
Cheers mate
Still love PGR 4 ❤️
Best racing game
Greatest racing game ever. Second is drive club by the way, it’s pgr4 for the ps4. It’s so good too but not pgr4. This game is like a love for me. I still remember the day I brought it and how I would just play it for hours at a time. Glorious.
Hope this game is in the next list of backwards compatibility line up. Whenever it happens.
Cheers!
I used to LOVE this racing game, probably only second to gran turismo series in my book
I wonder if we will see this come back now that activision is being bought by Microsoft?
Ok you got me to try this game when i heard about the soundtrack.
Great video! I wish I could play this game but my xbox account got terminated :/
This was my favorite game growing up, thank you for sharing this!
More than happy to!
@@UltraViolet_Moses I've been waiting years for Microsoft to bring this game back in the backwards compatibility library smh
To this day, the best engine sounds in any racing game are in pgr4.
PGR and Burnout series are a total loss for arcade racing fans. Hope we get something similar one day
Fantastic video ❤
Thanks 🤗
This game is insanely fun!
Into still killer!!!
Excuse me but I'm wondering on whether you might eventually do a video on Grid Legends?
(I can forgive the rubberbanding A.I. lol)
Great video about pgr4 especially the soundtrack and the car list also Moses what do you think of blur?
I personally haven’t played Blur, so I can’t comment on the game
If Phil Spencer was the goat of xbox ceo's he would bring this back if the ABK deal goes through. PGR was my jam to the point that I found your video after thinking about emulating the game lol. Now I wonder can you still buy it in the xbox store?
Are there any similar racing games? Arcade style in urban environmaent?
I really miss that pick up and play feeling PGR games gave you...
Legend status!
Kudos points
Kiss
You realllllly gota play DRIVE CLUB. It’s so good and seems like the kind of racer you would like.
you would never believe it, but there is a Driveclub video on this channel
i 100% on 2, 3 & 4... spent years waiting for No 5
"The next game to nail a metal soundtrack will be getting a thumbs-up."
.....Wreckfest, anyone?
Wish they could add this on gamepass. Maybe this game has those car licenses thats stopping that from happening
there's that and the demand for this game probably isn't there to subsidize the cost of the license
Ever considered making a video on older racing games? Maybe during the 90’s and early 2000’s?
Stay tuned for early 2022
@@UltraViolet_Moses Nice
Sega GT 2002????
PGR still is owned by Microsoft they can definitely resurrect the franchise but I think open world racing games are in and circuit racer’s don’t sell as much
You know, from what you've said about the game, it looks like it has a loooot of similarities with Driveclub. I wonder if the developers took inspiration from PGR4...
now that microsoft is acquiring activision blizzard, all we can do is hope for a new pgr.
Loved this game ❤️😂
Still love it! ❤️
