I got fit with a set of Aerotek I95 Black Label shafts with Miura TC 201 heads. I haven’t looked back. Best feel in a set of clubs in a long time and my 67 year-old elbows are thanking me.
I got aerotech this past summer and it was the best thing I ever did. No loss in performance, little gains in flight and all the benefits for injuries. Love them.
In the spring of 2021 I got custom fit for 2019 Titleist T-200’s with stock Tensei Red AV series AM (2) Regular flex -1/2 short - 1 deg flat at 2ndSwing in DE location. Excellent fitting and walked out confident knowing I got the the right sticks. In December 2019 I had my 2nd rotator cuff surgery on my left shoulder and had my right rotator cuff surgery in 2014. Left shoulder has limited motion thank goodness it’s not my right shoulder because I wouldn’t be able to swing. Love the feel of these iron’s especially with graphite shafts.
looking at this video with a smile on my face while looking at my Gen 5 PXG irons on MMT shafts been enjoying them for a couple of weeks and could not be happier went to get fitted with an open mind and resulted on giving these MMT shafts a chance coming from Nippon Steel 105 regular to 70g regular
Recently pulled the Modus NS Pro shafts out of my Honma TW747V iron set. Put in some KBS Tour graphite shafts. Gained a little speed. My elbow is also very grateful as I play five days a week and hit a lot of simulator time in between.
I have the MMT105tx, and they've been great. If you have elbow pain at all, there's no more downside. I will *never* go back to steel. It's over, unless you want a cheap shaft.
I switched to the LA Golf L Series iron shafts and I couldn’t be happier. I love them! An added benefit is, they don’t bother my golf elbow nearly as much as steel shafts do
@@DubyaKW Honestly, curiosity and because my golf elbow was really bad. I watched the TXG video that they did with that super fast guy ( blanking out right now but they mention him in this video) and was like, if the graphite is strong enough and in the right parameters for him and Bryson then they certainly have something for me. So I ordered 1 4 iron shaft from LA and built the club myself. Gained ball speed, club speed, 12 yards carry on average and the right spin window and launch conditions. Then I noticed when I was hitting that club my elbow didn’t hurt as much so I ordered 2 more shafts and did my 5&6 irons. Fell in love after a few range rounds and course rounds. Then ordered the rest of my clubs, even my wedges. I’m so happy that I gave them a try and now love them
@@justinrivet1085 I'm right there with you. Bought a used set with them to test out and have since ordered 3 other sets to replace all my iron shafts (I might have a problem). Love the feel and have noticed less pain in the elbow as well. Don't know that I'll have any other shaft for quite a while.
@@jessehughes3877 I have a problem too haha. Once I learned how to regrip, change out shafts, etc. it was over for me. I can’t see myself changing out of these either though. The stigma of graphite iron shafts will soon be turned around. Also, the graphics they can do on them is so much better. Way more bag appeal. Not that that matters with everyone but, it’s a nice added bonus. The only downside is, it makes for an expensive set of irons lol
I'm currently using MMTs and really like them. Was previously using Accra iSeries which were also good but I prefer the MMT. #1 and #2 ladies golfers use Aerotech Steelfiber so I would imagine those are very good as well. I can really feel it on my body when I use steel.
Just switch to LA Golf L Series, custom built my own irons Srixon ZX7 heads, Amazing soft, ball flight was straighter and more penetrating. Getting the right swing weight was a challenge for the build, however they feel incredible, not going back to steel after the feel of these shafts.
I went from KBS C-taper 130X to the MMT 105TX and have not looked back. So much easier on my joints and elbow. The Tensi blue was another good alternative for me as well. The way I look at it, when was the last time that you hit a driver with a steel shaft?
There is a big movement to graphite. It would be very interesting to see how they performed with the wedge. Maybe even get Mike to hit different shafts.
I recently switched from the True Temper S200 shafts to the MMT 75 Graphite shaft. The difference is like night and day. I'm hitting each club 15 yards longer with the MMT.
Just got fit into LA Golf A-series 105 Stiff(4) in my Mizuno Pro 225 irons. I have never hit a 6 iron so good and consistently as I did with this shaft. Played Nippon Modus Tour 105 stiff which were previously fit for me after I tried a set of KBS TGI95 shafts for a few months. The LA Golf product feels better, smoother but stable, than either of my other shafts. KBS was nice for feel but my dispersion was all over the map, maybe 10gms of less weight, true flex, or balance point was not right for me? My 6 iron ball speed average was 121mph, carry around 188-190, spin rate around 4800-5000, descent angle 45-47 degrees on TrackMan. Dispersion was very tight and I could move the ball both ways with slight draw or fade, needless to say I am now $1000 poorer! Definitely recommend giving these a try.
I got lucky and found a set of la golf a series shafts low low 105x (114g) expected them to be too light compared to L series but super satisfied and felt like I saved a log of energy with my distance.
I recently changed back from Project X 6.0 to steel (Modus 105R). During the fitting we tried the old shaft with my new head - far worse, and hard to hit. Balance and weighting. What I am noticing, though, is extra post game impact soreness in my fingers. That IS different, and I am now experimenting with losing the "Align" strip to soften impact a little, by going back to the straight MCC+4. On my hybrids - Ascent 50HY R feels AMAZING
I'm currently playing a set of ORKA RS10MB in the Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Black stiff and these are by far my favourite shafts I have played. I have built them swing weighted to C9 and they just feel so smooth and offer so much feedback and give me exactly the flight and spin characteristics I like.
L series have a very high balance point, you lose 3 swing weight points compared to most shafts. Maybe that added to the lack of control more than total weight
Juppp, exactly my experience. I fitted into project x ls, loved them, but backnand neck started hurting after hitting quite a few balls after an accident. Came back to fitter and tried mmt 125s and didn't see the difference in the numbers, but with softer feel which I liked. Only reason not to do it would be price in my opinion:)
27yo steep player here. 120g x flex iron shafts ruined my elbow and hand in one season. Everyone should consider graphite at the least and try them if they can. It’s amazing how much it can affect your body
I have fitted my Mizuno 225 with the stiffest autoflex iron shafts, gained more than 5 miles clubhead speed and improved my striking enormously.. I’m 57 and I swing my 7 iron about 80 miles an hour.. the biggest advantage is the feel of the shaft loading through the swing.. maybe an idea to a video to discuss this enhancement of feel with the softer autoflex shaf.
KBS are now doing there graphite shafts in swing speeds instead of A/R/S/XS, they now do 60/65/70/75/80/85/90 etc. I think this is a step forward as it stops the tipical egod man using stif+ shafts when they dont need them.
Why do KBS TGI, PGI or MAX graphite shafts never get a look in on this channel, so many people play KBS steel shafts so it seem sencible to see if those people could get the same from the KBS graphite range.
Had a set of PX Catalyst 100’s that were fantastic for me. Currently using $ taper’s but have a set of MMT’s in the closet that need some heads for testing.
It took me several days to really get the feel for graphite shafts. I just decided to switch and see how it went. I'm very happy now, but in a side by side in 1 fitting session I never would have adjusted quickly enough. It seems like a potential problem fitting people into graphite.
Swing machine. If I buy MMT hoping for this result and get more frustrated by my own result. lol. When the price settles a bit more, I would give it a try. Thank you for the vid!
Great video and thank you for this cause I was in a way doing this shaft change idea here about 6 months ago with my fitting. My PXG's had the MMT's and though I did hit them well and after a fitting found that in my new P790's I was placed into True Temper S300 105VSS and found I had better strikes and distance . My 8 iron club head speed is 90 mph (at 54 years old) and these steel shafts felt heavier and easier to control for me where at the MMT's felt lighter though same shaft weight. Will also add that I agree with you Ian that the same shaft will not always work as intended, an I tried this for the last 2 years trying to self fit. I ended up with a driver shaft that is a different brand from my fairway woods and hybrids are a third shaft. As odd as it may sound and look, in the last 6 month is took me from a 25 handicap to a 18 handicap with better batt striking.
Great to see. Went from PX steel to MMTs and really like them. Been hitting them quite a bit on the toe and was curious about the LAGP. I may just have to go a bit heavier and softer on the MMTs from 105 TX to 125 S instead.
I swear by the Aerotech FCs and use them in all of my irons. I am a higher swing speed player (105-107mph 7iron) and they are incredibly stable and do not cause excessive spin. Will not go back to steel. 👍🙏🙌💯
Yes, graphite is more expensive than steel. However, using graphite has allowed me to continue to play golf into my golden years with arthritis in my right hand. Over the long haul, I preach starting juniors on graphite shafts and stick with them throughout their career.
To me, the main advantage to graphite besides the QC aspect would be vibration dampening. I'd love to see something measured because from a numbers POV, there is no advantage I'd imagine for almost all players. But, if it made strikes feel better, that quality alone would make it worth it.
I’ve recently went to ventus in woods hybrid and threw one in my 4 iron. For the top of my bag they are so good. (Idk if I could or would spend that much for iron shafts) but it would be interesting to see results for sure

And if stiff, how can I know if is better 80 or 90g? Could you guide me a little, please? Thank you very much!
I’d really like to understand the graphite equivalent to the Nippon Modus 105-S. I’ve been using Nippon 1050 and Modus 105 since 2008. Or is it a case of really just needing to get a proper fitting with a selection of graphite options. I like the idea of being a little more forgiving on the wrists and elbows.
I had graphite iron shafts many years ago and broke all of them inside 6 months. Maybe they were poor quality given it was early on in graphite shaft development but I still can't bring myself to hit them now given the replacement cost.
Were these all built to the same swingweight? I know from my experience , the LA Golf shafts are little more counterbalanced so swing weight is surely lighter with the LA Golf..
Great video on a subject I’m keenly interested in. I currently play the latest Titleist t100 irons in stiff amt white steel shafts. I’ve developed golfers elbow pain. Can I switch to steel fiber shafts or mmts in the same club heads? What would happen to the swingweights? Would it change or remain the same?
Hi, Thanks for a great review. Could you do a follow-up review testning out how Graphite would play out in wedges. I played both recoils protos and now MMT i my irons but never managed to get a fit with Graphite in wedges, I really dont get any feel for it.
I recently switched to graphite shafts and love them. I went with the Vista Pro. I wish maybe they were a tad bit heavier but the feel was night and day for me.
Why not use graphite? Especially with the results of this test.. a few companies offer the mmt’s as a stock offering and they gotta be better quality/ performance than most of the stock lower end steel offerings.. very interesting 🤔
How would the Tour AD compare to the MMT? The Graphite Design offerings are very expensive but I don’t see many reviews. Are they a quality grade Shaft for irons?
I'm thinking about trying to L-Series. I'm swinging my 6 iron at 115mph club head speed(No joke, look at the videos on my channel) and I have issues flighting the ball and spin. I just ordered X7 hard stepped but I'll give graphite a try
I'm nowhere near your speed (103 6i) and I'm testing hard stepped L's vs the Bryson Signature series. At your speed, I woudl skip the L all together and go right for the Bryson's. They are a one length blank but I think you can butt trim them to proper length for a progressive set.
At some point father time catches up with all of us. I'd rather use graphite and save my joints than use iron shafts when the performance gap is so quickly closing
If I have fit into DG X100 or KBS $taper 130x could the MMT 105tx be a good graphite shaft option? I don't mind going a little lighter to help with speed + some end of round fatigue, but want to maintain the stability. Thanks!
Due to arthritis and a back I went with zx5 with recoil f4 95 stiff, I really like the feel but I need a bit more weight, I would love to try the new srixon with those mmt at 105 weight
I have the 110 F4 in my lob wedge and it's great. Good luck finding MMT 105s - very hard to come by right now. I'd love to try them (currently have Modus 105S in my irons).
Hey, I used to use the i95s in my tc201s, but I switched to MMT in my 301s. I ordered some KM700 from Miura and they only had Mitsubishi OT. I ordered them but I am curious how they compare. Also, any reason you think Miura doesn't have MMT as an option? supply issue?
Love your videos. Looking for advice. I am in my late 50's hit my 8 iron approx 165 yards. Very high ball flight. Currently playing Z785/Nippon 120 Stiff. Thinking about going to a lighter weight shaft. Either steel of Graphite. As I am not getting younger. But I dont want to lose performance as I am a single digit HCP. Thinking of the Sub70 699 Pros when they come out LH. Or the PXG XCOR2. Not many LH fitting options here in PA. Any thoughts?
You hit an 8 iron 165, why would you go to a lighter shaft? Everytime I've tried a lighter shaft I lose clubhead speed and spin higher and I'm not nearly as long of a hitter as you
The problem with heavy, graphite shafts is that because the weight Hass to be so high, the stiffness is very high because of all the material required to prosthetic weight

Can I switch to steel fiber shafts or mmts in the same club heads? What would happen to the swingweights? Would it change or remain the same?
I have the mmt 105 stiff in my t100 s 2019 version they are awesome
Hi, Thanks for a great review. Could you do a follow-up review testning out how Graphite would play out in wedges. I played both recoils protos and now MMT i my irons but never managed to get a fit with Graphite in wedges, I really dont get any feel for it.
Why did you not through in the AeroTech?
I recently switched to graphite shafts and love them. I went with the Vista Pro. I wish maybe they were a tad bit heavier but the feel was night and day for me.
Why not use graphite? Especially with the results of this test.. a few companies offer the mmt’s as a stock offering and they gotta be better quality/ performance than most of the stock lower end steel offerings.. very interesting 🤔
How would the Tour AD compare to the MMT? The Graphite Design offerings are very expensive but I don’t see many reviews. Are they a quality grade Shaft for irons?
Not a complaint, just an observation, is the clanking noise after the ball hits the screen new?
could you make a video for the tour ad iron shafts? I've only seen 1 video reviewing about the tour ad shafts for irons.
So do the 105 tx fall into Ian’s category of ‘light and stiff being bad’ or is he meaning LIGHT. I’d say at 115 g the 105’s are pretty mid weight.
I'm thinking about trying to L-Series. I'm swinging my 6 iron at 115mph club head speed(No joke, look at the videos on my channel) and I have issues flighting the ball and spin. I just ordered X7 hard stepped but I'll give graphite a try
thats crazy fast!
I was retro fit with Accra shafts at TXG, I'll never go back to steel.
When did Mattie boy get back to TXG? happy to see that....
Why no Steelfiber?
No love for the Xcaliber Rapid Taper 105s?
If I have fit into DG X100 or KBS $taper 130x could the MMT 105tx be a good graphite shaft option? I don't mind going a little lighter to help with speed + some end of round fatigue, but want to maintain the stability. Thanks!
Is the standard deviation really valid when you are tossing out ‘bad’ shots? It just seems that doing so skews the true meaning of standard deviation.
Really want the VA Baddazz shafts in the mizzy hot metal HL
The Standard Deviation #s of the MMTs are almost shockingly good - you could see it with your eyes with the repeated similar trajectories
what is the closest to KBS C-Taper S? would love to move to graphite but I've not hit anything remotely as consistently as the KBS C-Taper S...
