Jeep Gladiator Truck WAYALIFE Build by EVO Manufacturing - Let the Transformation Begin

  • When Cindy and I built up our Jeep JL Wrangler, we purposefully took our time and installed as many aftermarket products as we could. This would include everything from a basic budget boost to EVO long arms and coilovers and we did all this to gain as much experience as possible. With that said, when it came to start building up our brand new Jeep JT Gladiator, we decided to do things a bit differently. Being that the two are so similar in design especially up front, we decided to pick up where we left off on the JL and go BIG right from the get go. Of course, I'm talking about Dana UD60 1-ton axles, Nitto 40" Trail Grappler tires, a PSC ram assist steering system and a superior EVO coilover suspension system. In this short video, you'll get to see the beginning of our Gladiator's transformation from being the mythical Jeep truck that it once was, into the Legend that it has since become. We hope you enjoy.

    Finally someone building a JT properly! Of course it was going to be Wayalife! I've been so disappointed by other TH-camrs (talking to you Stradman) that are building their JT for views and not for function. I can already tell that this is going to be my dream build. Looking good Eddie! This really makes me want to go to tons and 40s on my Gladiator. How much suspension lift are you aiming for?

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When we left Off Road Evolution, we had 3.25" of lift. We may go a bit taller but just a bit.

    Nice build, spoke awhile back about me deciding going JLU or JT, ended up with the JT Rubicon, I’ve already got my evo 4.5 stage 4 plus kit with the king adjustable shocks at the house as well as the yeti steer smart drag link kit, waiting to have a free weekend to start turning wrenches looking forward to seeing this build....I debated on going coilover on the front but not familiar with coilovers and don’t have the experience to install it as well as tune it and set them properly and the cost of them.....
    Looking forward to getting the gladiator out on the trail will be following your build
    Thank you wayalife

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you made the right choice not to go coilover. For most people, it's not needed and really, it's costly to maintain.

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I've stated multiple times now, we're simply testing something different and so that we can gain first hand experience with another very popular axle that's made in the USA. We did have an XD60 and ProRock 80 all lined up but decided to decline Dynatrac's generous offer to do this. Without question, Dynatrac makes some of the BEST custom axles money can buy and as you know, we've not only been strong supporters of theirs for well over a decade, the owner is a personal friend. Although he may not be thrilled with our decision to do this, he has wished us the best of luck with it. We will of course be sure to put our UD60's to the test and for better or for worse, we'll be sure to share what we find.

    Hey Eddie, I love what you're doing with the gladiator. I'm looking at getting one in the next year or so. I'm holding out for the diesel model. My question is I'm looking at putting 35s - 37s on it and I was wondering if I should bite the bullet and get the dana 60s and 80s for it or would they be to much. I know for now that 37s will probably be the biggest I go with but I may later on get 40s.

    Is that the stock rear dif? 60 seems big for stock on something like that. Glad to see this is going to be a unique build. Coming from a pipe fab shop and also commented below, those look like really nice welds.

    So given that you chopped off everything, would someone be better served by buying a sport and doing the same? I’ve got till the diesel release to decide.

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, probably. We mainly got a Rubicon because it was what we could get in a pinch. You could probably do what we doing for about the same cost as a fully loaded stock Rubicon.

    Will they be going over the factory frame welds that I've heard don't really hold much and fail?

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The poor welds were really only an issue on the first batch of JL's. Haven't seen any problems since nor on our JL which has over 40k on it now.

    Dang super excited! Do you think you will need a supercharge to help move the weight? Also, upgraded braking? Mine is 3.5 lift, 37” tires, 17” beadlocks, and I feel like I’m maxing it out.

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah, the all new 8-speed automatic seems to get the job done well or at least, for me anyway. As far as brakes go, the UD60's come with MASSIVE ones. You'll see them in the next episode.

      If it were me, that's what I would do.

  • @marcosierra1822
    @marcosierra1822 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Honest question. Why do you spend the premium on a Rubicon just to cut it all up and add your own parts? Are you actually able to recoop the premium by selling off the Rubicon parts? I would think optioning out a Sport with whatever interior features you want would save significant money for aftermarket parts. I don’t know if you are sponsored or not, but I am “asking for a friend😉”. Great build, great channel, and I’m excited to see the finished product!

    • @wayalife
      @wayalife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a great question. We actually ordered up a Launch Edition JT thinking that we'd be one of the first to get one. When that didn't pan out, we just got what we could and that happened to be a Rubicon. To do this, you would be better served to start off with a Sport.
