Looking forward to all the knowledge you're going to share. I'm one of the millions that have been laid off across America. I've got a 1 ton Ford and a flat bed, so here we go. All help is appreciated.

NINJA TIP: wind and other forms of ambient noise are both annoying and very distracting. I realize you're talking about trucking concepts and therefore want to give that feeling of not being in an office environment, but sometimes the downfalls outweigh the benefits. Just my 2 cents.

Hey kidsletsplay. I'm so glad to hear you are starting a business . To answer your question yes I have. There are a few different types of trailers that can perform the task you are looking for. Let me ask a few questions first. What type of power unit are you looking at pulling this trailer with? Are you looking to transport general freight or larger vehicles such tractors and bobcats and such. There are a few companies that manufacture lowboy trailers. I love lowboys because they are perfect for larger vehicles that don't fit so great on other car haulers. They easily transport tractors, ambulances, large mechanic or service vehicles and can also accommodate palates and general freight. The only draw back is, the deck drops between the fenders making it a little more challenging to load. In most cases you run out of weight before you run out of deck though. These trailers start at around 10k new last time I checked. With the price climbs as you add options though. If you are looking at a conventional over the wheel flatbed trailer. I can tell you that months ago at the auction I had seen a gentleman with a flat bed trailer that had a deck on the neck. He had removable aluminum ramps and risers that converted the trailer into somewhat of a wedge. I thought it was very nifty and I took a few photos of it. If that is what you are referring too. It do not know of a company that manufactures this but what I Can tell you is this. I commend him on his versatility. Staying versatile can make for a very healthy business if you do it right. Because he had to chain down each ramp it seemed to be a little time consuming. It sounds like you are asking the right questions and on the right path. Please keep me informed on how it goes

Hi Joe. How r you?First of all thank you for reply. I preparied everything to start up my business, but still have couple questions regarding auto transport brokers and bonds. I've been working as company dispatcher in past, but never deal with cars. I understand, that it's generally same process, but "devil is in details". Is it any way I can get your email adress, or any other contact info, so I'll ask my questions more specifically? Thanks in advance. Eldar

thanks for the info great peices of Info, I would like to hear more on how to get licensed prices of insurance what a better carrier insurance cost would be, a truck and trailer is just that, a truck and a trailer, did you start out with new equipment or did you have your own authority or sign on with someone great videos hope to hear more

Hey crystal and jake wells!! I'm glad I'm helping. When you ask how to get licensed are you asking personally or for your equipment? Insurance is going to be a tricky one as there are a million factors such as driving record, value of equipment and the liability coverage of your load. I do believe that most brokers require 125k insurance for a 3/4 car transport but always review your contracts. You can always amend your policy and raise or lower it and in some instances spot insurance can be obtained. About a year ago I transported two very high end cars for a pro baseball pitcher and the value exceeded a quarter million for just the two vehicles. That did not include the new high end Mercedes I also happened to be transporting. I was able to obtain additional insurance to cover me on my trip across the country.
I started out with used equipment and have never owned new equipment. I also have a pretty good mechanical aptitude though. When considering the purchase of new or used equipment I think it is always important to know and understand your strengths and weaknesses. Doing your own repairs can save big bucks but, if you don't know what you are doing can in some instances can have devastating results a short time down the road.
      independent or owner operator?
That's a huge decision. A lot of the deciding factors on this will stem from a few factors. What is your support structure. There is a ton of paperwork and office work involved in just running 1 truck. I know of drivers that do it all themselves but it can be tasking. Third party support services are ussualy charged by percentages. An example of these services are billing, dispatching, accounting, payroll and more. So as you can see knowing your capabilities and strengths going into this are huge. It is important to remember that entering the transportation Industry isn't a quick thing. It will take time to become efficient but once it is achived, expansion is another option.

Hi Joe! Thank u for information on this and other videos. Planing open my own business in a few weeks... Have you ever see treiler, that can be used, as fletbed and car hauler at the same time? Is it possible to put wooden floor between wheel tracks on straight car hauler trailer, so that way you can handle both of them? Thank you.

You can definitely haul cars on a standard flatbed. How many will depend on the length of trailer & the weights of the vehicles. The only thing to consider is how you'll secure them to the trailer.

There's a major problem with your ides , you spend 50-60 grand on a set up then wear it out in 2 -3 years and warranty won't cover your rig used for commercial purpose .. Plus with all the changes with the fmcsa regulations and the federal dot. Elog and the sleeper minimum size for the small trucks you can't sleep in your back seat so then your choices are either custom built truck with a legal size sleeper or hotel bills every night and that means receipts with a time and date stamp on them which shows the dot. Exactly where you were .i wish you the best in your business travels I run class 8 rig for 18 yrs now and have seen what the dot. Does to the hot shot trucks at scales and how often they get pulled and checked with all the new laws
