This is one of my absolute favourites. It showcases Elvis’s stunning voice and beautiful storytelling. Another gorgeous song from one of his movies is Please Don’t Stop Loving Me. He was incredible. 💕🇦🇺
Just from this small scene this is a moving incredible performance by Elvis and yes What a beautiful man!!! - his stunning beauty literally takes your breath away!! Thank you so much for honoring Elvis. I just love your reactions.
One of the things that always impresses me about Elvis‘s singing is his vocal control and ability to change his tone. Like in this song when he sings “and here am I” it’s so light and delicate compared to the rest of the song
Smooth as a river rock, and always beautiful. This is the kind of song that Elvis did that melted your heart. He sang it like it was true. I appreciate your terrific reacts to my man Elvis. I miss him. Thanks.
Not one Elvis movie lost money. Elvis was a natural and his line delivery and his facial expressions in his movies were wonderful. I love all of Elvis' movies, but my favorite is Charro. Yes, Elvis was a beautiful man (in more ways than one) and you are not the first man to say that.
I liked Harum Scarum. But then again, I'm an Elvis fan. Many of Elvis' movies were not good, because the powers-that-be didn't care whether they were good or not, just as long as they earned money. But Elvis' performances are another thing entirely. He was an artist. He excelled in music and movies. I'm a movie buff and have seen a whole lot of B movies where the acting is just plain awful. Just for that perspective, Elvis' acting ability was great, even from his very first movie. I thought his reactions and actions were terrific. In the movie Wild in the Country, I believed the drunk scene with Tuesday Weld and then the anguish his character felt in the Hope Lange scene. I loved Kid Galahad. There was some singing, but with Gig Young and Charles Bronson and Lola Albright, it was an entertaining boxing film. In Tickle Me, Elvis showed his comedic timing was impeccable. Elvis once said in an interview making the movies made him physically sick. He hated the exploitation, how the movies were exactly the same except for the scenery, and only represented what Hollywood thought he was instead of who he really was. But he was a really good actor and given the right property, I think he would have excelled at it. Instead the industry and his own manager beat him down. So sad.
When I saw this before, I even watched the reaction I had to comment. Even as a little girl, this is remained one of my favorite songs. I was absolutely thrilled that you reacted to this! I adore this song.
He melts my heart with this emotional song ....beautiful. I so wish Elvis could have heard your reactions to his music. I can't help but think he would be so grateful for the recognition and your in depth attention to details not only regarding his beautiful voice but his charismatic and cinematic concert performances . I hope we can watch one of his movies with you.Thank you so much for such amazing reactions...when you are explaining what you see and hear your words make me think of a painter who with each stroke of his brush brings beautiful, vibrant colors and shapes I either have not seen before or saw them but could not explain what I saw to anyone...sorry if my explanation makes no sense. Thank you again for all your brilliant reactions..🌻
You are exactly right about his storytelling skills. You can listen to a record close your eyes and almost see what he is singing about..and again in his movies..in a scene such as this where he can just sit and si g such a beautiful and heartbreaking scene.
Such a dramatic vocal performance❤🎙🎼🎵🎶🎶🎵❤Elvis sings with pure emotion, his handsome face portrays the feelings in every word of this song. Beautiful. Thank you for another great reaction Mike😊
Beautiful response. You really give a very good analysis of Elvis songs. Maximum respect! His songs are eternal. I have been listening to him for 36 years and this so-called phenomenon crosses generations. Elvis is unlike anything since the dawn of human history.
I am a fairly new Elvis fan and bought all his movies and I love them all. I have watched all of them over and over. I love watching Elvis sing and also have learned to look for his guys he had with him, as they were in the movies also. So sorry he got such horrible wrire ups in the newspapers. Love your analysis of this song. I cry when he sings it. Thank you so much. Elvis forever!❤❤❤❤
My first time on your channel and my first time hearing this song. Love your observations about Elvis’s beauty and talent. I was born about the time Elvis‘s career was taking off so when I hit junior high, it was all about the British invasion and groups like the Mamas and the Papas. Elvis was for my mom’s generation in my mind. As an adult, as I learned more about music and singing, I could listen with different ears and hear the real talent of guys like Elvis, Glen Campbell & others. Anyway, enjoyed the video and I will subscribe. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely beautiful song, his voice is outstanding, and as you say he would have been brilliant, at doing a bond theme song, it definitely sounds like a bond tune, and yes he was so handsome, and he was a good actor. Thank you for another great reaction Mike, keep them coming.❤❤😊
Mike! You said you were interested in some rehearsals. One is Bridge over troubled waters, where it shows how Elvis had complete say over his band and singers and did it with such feeling and compassion for those who worked for him. Check it out! You wont be dissapointed
Fantastic review! Please check out the song 'Surrender' from 1961. Julie Andrews once said that Elvis from the early 60s had a nearly perfect voice. I also really love 'Just Tell Her Jim Said Hello' from 1962.
YES......Definitely !! We'd Love To Watch Elvis Movies 🎬 With You. His first Movie was LOVE ME TENDER In 1956, 21 yrear old Elvis had no training in Acting, so the critics paned his first attempt but it was a Box Office hit. ❤
Oh my gosh I love this song. Haven't seen this in years. Actually this was a unfortunately the manager formula but he was always great in his endeavor. Real acting jobs were done in his first early movies "Flaming Star". " Loving you" King Creole " "Wild in the Country". And honey not many men could rock a turbin. Thanks, always great to see.
Elvis hated most of these movies and the songs, but he performed them flawlessly. He had to be one of the handsomest men who ever lived too. He sang, he acted, he arranged, he entertained and was knock-out handsome doing it. For one of my favorite Elvis movie songs try Indescribably Blue from the movie Viva Las Vegas. That movie had a lot of good songs and one of the best ones. Elvis was also SOOOO good in a comedy role (Follow That Dream especially). The first movies were the best usually, more serious, and better roles for Elvis. King Creole is one of the best.
Truly incredible, i love your reactions, you pick up on things that are really important but many poeple wont notice. I always look forward to your ELvis reactions. Are you able to do "She wears my ring" and "Fair is moving on"?
Es una montaña rusa de emociones lo escuchas y no hay como resistirse a la seducción de su prodigiosa voz gracias Dios por crear ésta maravilla de hombre 😏🎸🎤🥋👑😘🫶🔥
Hi Mike and Hannah, I was only 5yrs old when this movie came out and I lived for the Elvis movies, I know that he was getting sick of the same thing, but as to a little girl growing up in Tennessee, it was always a great day to be at the Capitol theater on a Saturday afternoon and even in my small home town, the liines were around the block , so I just couldn't get enough of Elvis, I asked you about reacting to Elvis singing Just Pretend in Vegas 1970 and Loving Arms in audio version, great reaction as always and just keep on TCB like our main Man Among Men Elvis forever and Always TCB 1935
Dear Mike, this is another greatly appreciated reaction on one of Elvis' great performances. Thank you, I love it! Please react to "Danny Boy" from Elvis' album "From Elvis Presley Boulevard" 🙏🏽
He hated those movies, but his manager forced him into a contract to make a certain number of movies. Elvis wanted stronger parts. He also wanted to go to Europe but, again, his manager stopped him. He was an illegal and was afraid of being caught. His manager ruined Elvis, destroyed him. I’ve gathered this information from interviews of the people who were close to him.
Superb Mike! A movie dismissed by even ardent Elvis fans and yet, you come along and tell us how brilliant this performance is. I am so looking forward to your analysis (I personally think your videos far exceed the simple nomenclature of “reactions”) of other Elvis movie songs. In fact, I’d be really interested in your take on Old McDonald from Elvis’ Double Trouble movie.
Beautiful song sung wonderfully - just wish it was a bit longer it's much too short for my liking but Elvis looks and sounds amazing (not surprising that ) - the film Harem Holiday in the UK wasn't the best but hey Elvis was in it so that's good enough for me 🎶💙🎵
As I've maybe commented before there are many underrated songs in Elvis movies. I get SO irritated when people wheel out the same old nonsense that Elvis movies are bad. Show me another big superstar renowned for singing who has half the comedic timing or acting ability. Brilliant analysis as usual - keep up the good work!
He' definetly doesn't get the credit fir his acting abilities, /he's underrated, it was the fans fault that the movies where the same formula, they wanted him singing in them, there are lots of hidden gems in his movies, he was the highest paid movie actor in the sixties, pocketful of rainbows is a sublime vocal from the movie GI BLUES👌
Elvis doesn’t get enough credit for his performance in the movies he has some sexy stuff out there let me tell u. Some of them even won a few awards if u do the research people just put these movies down but no one else could have pulled this off. His comedic timing was on point, facial expressions, dramatic acting. Elvis had it all! These movies are something he left us that will forever remain a part of his legacy. Plus anytime u wanna see him pop in a movie u can laugh out loud with him. TCB I’m a movie fan if u can’t tell lol
Here’s another that you should definitely check out…it’s from New Year’s Eve 1976…a FABULOUS concert. Elvis was in fabulous voice and in a great mood. The visuals are poor but it is ENTIRELY worth checking if only for his vocal gymnastics and the ‘operatic’ ending. Look forward to your reaction…goosebumps time 😉 th-cam.com/video/0SemIarWczA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VW1Lw0pe7LX2Ci80
Love this song. Greatest ballad singer whoever lived. His baritone is so strong in this tune. At this point, the Colonel went ultra cheap on the engineering and mixing of the movie recordings unfortunately. So the recordings are substandard. His incredible talent superseded the limitations.
The Elvis did some nice film but this one Harum Scarum was filmed the yr I was bought into this world and its my 2nd least fav behind kisin cousins but the performance of this track is a fine vocal performance and u can c he gave it his all for the song in the film.TCB&TLC
He was a really great actor, but most of the scripts he was given were awful. It's just so sad and so frustrating, but no matter how upset and disheartened he was with the way his film career was going, he sucked it up and still gave it his best, bless him. If you haven't watched any Elvis films yet, I would suggest watching 'King Creole' (his 4th movie) if you want to see just how well he really could act 😊
Great reaction to a lovely song. I would not recommend watching most of the movies and certainly not this one. There are some very fine songs from even the poor movies that are worth watching or just listening to the audio. I don´t think people in Hollywood had any idea what an extraordinary talent they had and mostly wasted. Great artists spring from the most unlikely sources, but it´s like no one had any idea that the wiggling rock n roll singer that parents loathed could be so exceptional. Watch the early movies like Loving You, Jailhouse Rock, and King Creole. There might be a few more to watch that others could tell you about.
Great insight and observation on an underrated song, and some of your remarks indicate your knowledge of EP is rapidly increasing. As a long time avid fan don't bother with the film, far from his finest hour.
No matter how bad some of his movies were he always had that incredible voice and put everything into even the most mediocre songs. This particular song was one of the best performances and Harem Scarum was in fact one of his worst if not the worst movies.
I watched his movies in alphabetical order when I was furloughed. Even the lesser ones tend to have a gem buried somewhere in the formulaic script. I don't remember thinking it was poor. I'll have to check it out again soon. Too many say he made bad movies because that's what they read without actually watching them. They don't make up their own mind. Lazy journalism....
For all of the reasons that everybody knows, Elvis was relegated to fluffy, family oriented films with non-taxing plots. Always filmed in a matter of a few months, the budget was low and rarely did the his leading ladies come from the Hollywood A list. They intentionally placed an anvil around his neck before sending him on set and still, all 32 movies were financial successes. Hal Wallace, Director of The Maltese Falcon said “The only sure thing is an Elvis Presley movie” and he was right, so Wallace used that profit to make movies with other actors. Elvis always showed up on time with a memorized script and never complained. For having worked with him, many claimed more of a sense of spiritual fulfillment. As for his fans, his movies are viewed with a deserved reverence for they appreciate the unusual journey of this man who constantly exceeded the quality of others. As for the James Bond effect…Elvis Presley singing Surrender, 1961. Dr. No, the first Bond movie…released in 1962. I believe somebody involved in the production of this film, carried Elvis in their mind. Another brilliant reaction.❤️
The brilliance of tech is we can now cherry pick the highlights from each of Elvis`s movies, and make no mistake there are many regardless of what people may say about them. As fans we can do this as we know his material inside out, but as you are discovering, so many great performances have not been seen by newer fans simply because of the poor reputation of some of his movies. Elvis could act and had a capacity for learning that was second to none but alas it was never pushed to it`s limit and we are again left with what could have been but wasn`t. Two songs I would strongly recommend are Edge Of Reality th-cam.com/video/7Skrq8unUlE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2DqJq5bCbPruMwWm and Drums Of The Islands th-cam.com/video/9igAKZoEguk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=smp1orU-58zOvmQi which are both fab movie songs and I`ve left a link so you may just would like to view them privately. Great reaction Mike I can tell your getting bitten by the Elvis bug and long may it continue.
One of a couple of passable songs from his, maybe, most atrocious movie, «Harum Scarum» (Harem Holiday), from 1965. Even the old «Colonel» Tom Parker, thought this movie, was below par, that’s saying something. Elvis usually «delivered» in the movies, but no wonder he got «physically and mentally ill from doing movies» (quote Elvis). The songs on the soundtrack was really bad, and sounded as they were recorded in a tin can. Elvis still had to go through a bunch of movies after this one, that was equally bad, if possible. Incredible to think that his phenomenal, unique performer, was relegated doing movies like this. A cultural crime, no less. Keep up the good work, and take care😊
This scene shows how AMAZING Elvis was at acting and singing.... a NATURAL with a supernova of talent. SIMPLY NOONE had all these skills.
Elvis is absolutely Gorgeous and his voice is incomparable!! ❤️🔥
This is one of my absolute favourites. It showcases Elvis’s stunning voice and beautiful storytelling. Another gorgeous song from one of his movies is Please Don’t Stop Loving Me. He was incredible. 💕🇦🇺
Also, "Big Love, Big Heartache" from Roustabout!!! So gorgeous and underrated!!!

Just from this small scene this is a moving incredible performance by Elvis and yes What a beautiful man!!! - his stunning beauty literally takes your breath away!! Thank you so much for honoring Elvis. I just love your reactions.

One of my favourite Elvis songs. Would like to suggest Such A Night for a reaction.
Yes brilliant song

Yes! Elvis movie night.😊
His voice and health was at his best in the early and mid 60s great actor allso underrated
Elvis could of been an actor in silent films and I would of fallen for him, and hard
It's a shame he didn't do this one live, I can imagine a similar arrangement to What Now My Love.
I like how he keeps still and focused And expresses the song so well.
A short and sweet song from The Man. Great reaction!🙂
Thanks!
He was such a beautiful person! Love him!
Fire 🔥🔥🔥

I'm happy Elvis did these movies, specially for the many lovely songs such as this one.
Elvis should be ariund to hear how you compliment his acting in this scene.
Thanks Geraldine!

Thanks!
