Hey everyone! I made a follow up video that goes into more detail about what’s really wrong with cocomelon. th-cam.com/video/DxmfvaL5HrQ/w-d-xo.html check it out here!
I agree with you 💯 as cocomelon has totally damaged my toddler, emotionally, development and etc. I couldn't understand were all the issues and behaviour was coming from. Until I have to seat and start watching cocomelon my self. To understand what's going on. No more cocomelon for my kids as well... Never. Cocomelon needs to be cancelled
I agree that it's creepy and zombifies kids a little. People had a problem with me for not wanting my kids to watch teletubbies back in the day, and they're literally toddlers with televisions IN their bodies, living alone, being raised by a vacuum cleaner thing instead of parents, with a terrifying laughing baby head in the sky as the sun. Nightmare stuff!! 😜 And about it being "multisensory," all TV engages vision and hearing, any show, so I don't understand that comment. If kids are rubbing, smelling, or tasting a TV show there are more serious issues there. 😂
I completely agree. My son started watching a lot of cocomelon after my daughter was born and his behaviour got worse with time. The behaviour got so bad that I decided to ban cocomelon for a week to see what would happen. After a week and a half without it he fell into the routine I had in place for him already. Would always listen to me and go to bed on time. Today, my husband put it on for him again and he started throwing tantrums 😭
It's interesting. It's like his brain and body are missing connection and being present in the real world. But of course a young child doesn't know that, they only feel how they feel. I hopr your family is going well now. I can't stand Cocomelon, and I have avoided it because I found it so creepy and overwhelming.
It’s crazy how many times the frame changes on cocomelon. It’s the same type of addicting behavior that we experience on a tictok binge. It’s the quick change of frame that releases that dopamine and makes the videos addicting to watch. It’s pretty crazy. Most modern shows are like that for kids. Count the seconds between a change of frame. I’ve found the more the frame changes, the more addictive the show is. That’s why kids attention spans are like .5 seconds. Who would have thought. It’s crazy.
This is why I think Bluey is one of the best modern shows for young kids. It's super slow, with easy-on-the-eyes colors, and teaches good lessons. Plus, as a bonus, it's fun for parents too.
That's actually fascinating. I grew up watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood and I'm pretty sure that it was designed to have minimal frame changes and long shots, which I guess could have contributed to my relatively long attention span. The show also taught essential lessons to children in easy to understand ways so that's why if I ever have kids, they'll be watching it too.
Apparently I once counted the scene changes in an episode of the Blue's Clues & You! nursery rhyme series (which is like CM, except with Blue's Clues characters and more solid CGI) and found that most scenes were one or two seconds! Guess they must’ve been playing follow-the-leader!
It just baffles me how fast parents turn to a screen to distract their child. Children need to learn how to be bored and develop strategies to deal with it. You’ll save yourself huge headaches in the future but putting in a little effort now. You can help your little ones by creating engaging play spaces. 👉🏼 rotate toys- get the blocks out today, the puzzles out tomorrow, the farm animals the next… etc 👉🏼 books! Books! And more books! Keep these on rotation too. Every room in our house has a little pile of books! 👉🏼 art space- always has pencils and paper but sometimes a new little creative project appears. 👉🏼 music! Add more if you’ve got them!
@@adrianawashere1 ah pretty much the entirety of social media is a platform of unsolicited advice lol so toughen up. And nothing I wrote is “shaming”, unless my being baffled somehow offends you. In which case that’s your issue, not mine.
@@adrianawashere1 somebody gives their take and advice, from their experience. Instead of feeling shamed you will grow and learn so much more if you take it, consider and try it, and just see what works for you. It will never happen that everyone has the exact same experience with their kids, nothing ever works for everyone. Being open to new strategies instead of feeling called out is going to get you so much further. As a working and studying mom, i started letting my baby girl(6 months old at the time) watch different videos on youtube like the sensory vids, other nursery vids along with cocomelon. Then my baby would just only want to watch cocomelon, if the others come right after she would start losing attention, play with her toys to eventually get bored and cry. I noticed late but now at 7.5/8 month, whenever i call her or make a noise she smiles but doesnt look at me and keeps watching them. So now i’m done! No more cocomelon. I hope its not too late. But i dont know how else i can get her entertained/busy while i do my work or school. Loved your video, amazing job mama.
Thanks for sharing your experience and way to go with finishing school and working! I get that you need your down time so you can get things done! Have you tried sensory activities instead of the show? Sometimes I put my 6 mo in the playpen close to me with a few activities in it and she is quiet for a while while I work. If you don't have a play pen you can use a fitted sheet with four toy bins to hold up each corner.
It has absolutely zero, and I mean ZERO to do with your baby watching cocomelon. I have 3 children, ages 5 and under. My daughter in particular absolutely loved cocomelon and watched it regularly. It never affected her negatively in the slightest; she is incredibly bright, imaginative and loves playing with her toys. My baby will be 1 year old next week and has never been interested in cocomelon. No matter how many times I put it on he’s barely interested. He likes other shows but cocomelon doesn’t interest him. My oldest watched plenty of chu chu tv. They are all very bright children and advanced for their ages in many ways. There has been zero academic research proving that cocomelon affects young children negatively; it’s all hearsay.
Imagine people having nostalgia about cocomelon. it disgusts me. i grew up without electronics, so i just hung out with my friends and played outside. none of this mind control.
@@tinaclaxton5818 I grew up a kid in the 2000s, and throughout my house I was surrounded with electronics: from a PS2 and a PS3, to a Nintendo Wii and a multitude of nowadays considered vintage TVs, DVRs and VCRs, and finally also a couple of Windows desktop computers of which when my parents weren’t around, I would use to access TH-cam. And tbh, throughout my childhood, even from the videos I saw on TH-cam back during that time period, I don’t think I ever had a CoComelon equivalent growing up
So I am a musician, and teach music to kids for a living. I went on the cocomelon live stream, and almost every song is in C major. Every song follows the same simple chord progressions, and has little to no variation from song to song. Almost every song is in the same 2-3 keys, and offers the kids watching/ listening no depth/ deeper musical stimulation. I literally was blown away by how "phoned in" the music is. Kids can handle and NEED better music to stimulate their minds, and inspire their creativity. I really think that only hearing the same sounds, in the same key, with the combination of all the bright colors is mind numbing. We can do better for our kids, and they can handle/ need better content.
My best friend’s toddler loves Bluey, and it’s on when I come over to see my friend and her toddler. I found that even I, along with my friend, also enjoy Bluey as adults. AND it portrays the parents very positively. I watched a video comparing the two shows, along with other shows, and the pacing (frames per second), along with amount of camera movement, and Bluey’s pacing is a lot slower and calmer. I highly recommend Bluey!
Frames per second has nothing to do with pacing. The amount of cuts is the relevant factor. Wether the show is in 25fps or 60fps, it doesn’t make a perceivable difference
I have no kids, idk why im here haha. This was very informative. I seen its trending they say this show causes tantrums and speech issues. It's crazy what these shows can do
What a load of complete and utter crap. There is zero academic research on this, it’s all hearsay. I have 3 children, ages 5 and under. All of them have watched plenty of cocomelon, and they haven’t been negatively affected in the slightest.
As a guy whose little siblings are so bad and watch cocomelon, cocomelon is already impacting my life in a negative way. Ever since cocomelon was a thing, my life was never the same. I eat in my room now. All I hear is cocomelon outside of my room, and my little brother yells when cocomelon gets taken away and I hate it. Ever since cocomelon has been around, my brothers are BRAINWASHED into looking at cocomelon all day. I keep telling my mom to do something about it but she ignores me, yet in a few years they will become zombies who perform poorly in school.
@@piiinkDeluxemore common than u think sadly there’s much more serious neglect that takes priority u guess sounds rlly ducked up but this is a pretty normal thing in the us and other places too I would guess some ppl simply aren’t rlly thinking consciously my man it’s the only logical explanation some just live life on auto pilot
My nephew has completely changed just within 3 week after my brother banning cocomelon. He is a chatterbox now and able to construct full sentences which is totally different than before. Suprisingly he has learned more vocabs now. I’m quite surprised when i visited my brother yesterday n immediately search about cocomelon now🤣
Thanks for this. My daughter is now a zombie cuz of this evil show. I started detoxing her from cocomelon since yesterday so let's see. a month ago she was a smart chatter box. So hopefully she will return to normalcy soon 🙏
My daughter started showing anger signs and I had to stop her from watching the show. I don't even understand how can a spirit of anger come from that show
@@user-rm1lm3rt7e oh baloney. My daughter watched a ton of cocomelon as a baby and is now an amazingly intelligent, sweet, smart 3 year old. This is all hearsay and depends completely on the child.
That was the problem I was having with my daughter too. She was also picking up some wrong ways at expressing herself and started acting out everything in public....so I been getting her involved more in outdoor activities, playing in her room, limiting screen time, etc...made a big difference. She's calmer and sleeping better
@@D2014-u5i you can’t just say something is heresy because it didn’t happen to you… it’s a super common psychological response. It’s being studied. The screens change 2x-3x faster than a standard kids show.
When my brother was younger, he would watch Cocomelon all the time. Whenever he heard that jingle he immediately ran to wherever it came from and started to watch. And once he started watching, he wouldn’t stop for anything. Lunch was ready? He wouldn’t get up. Whenever I put something else on he would have sort of a cocomelon withdrawal and would try to hit me. I eventually told my mom to introduce him to other kids shows because cocomelon always put him in some sort of trance-like state. She obliged and there have been no problems since. He recently just started watching Bluey and he loves it. I’m glad I caught on to it sooner then later.
So Basically Cocomelon Is To Kids What The "whizz-crack" Is To Me Because "whizz-crack" Isn't Just "whizz" It's "whizz" And "crack" In Ballistic Terms "whizz-crack" Means RUN! we dicussed how bad cocomelon is for kids development in my unit on early childhood education, like I could write a 3000 word essay on how bad it is. but if your adult friends go on a bad trip and they're freaking out, putting on something like cocomelon seems to work. basically, cocomelon: bad for kids, good for stoners
Cocomelon, and hey bear are excellent for stoners But I think hey bear could still work for kids since it is just one very calming frame and relaxing music Great to fall asleep to aswell
The change of behaviour I saw in my friends son watching coco melon was pretty crazy. Normally, he very active running around, maybe a bit hyperactive honestly. When watching the show he gets distracted like a zombie.
That was when educational shows were educational. I’m not talking about this garbage such as Cocomelon which is barely educational, and basically a substance for kids. You might as well load your baby full of narcotics then have them watch cocomelon.
I'm a gamer, but I know if i had a kid I would be so strict with their screen time lol. Cocomelon is just so weird to me as a 26 year old, thank you for giving me some perspective from your point of view as a parent.
Fourteen-year-old here, tried watching Cocomelon to see if it affects teens as well. Didn't move or blink for two minutes straight until I got a message on a Discord server. Yeah, Cocomenlon should be illegal or smth.
I agree I really wish we go back to 2010 to go to Chuck E Cheese to escape from cocomelon. BTW in 2010 Chuck E Cheese added the TICKET BLASTER to all locations. I would do that
@@fatou110ful over stimulation can cause delay in some areas. I hope you find another more suitable form of entertainment for your son. I wish you all the best.
Ever since my child had started watching it, at one, when I cut it off, or it stops, he has meltdowns. He is two. I just stopped him from watching cocomelon for 5 days now. He is going through withdrawals and, one day while he was having a meltdown , something just clicked in my head that cocomelon and his tablets is the cause of it. So I am doing away with it period.
Okay but why take 5 min to get to the points ? 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Okay number one: glued to the screen Number 2: behavior issues and developmental issues Number 3: mind control You’re welcome
She said 5 minutes to get to the point. Which implies the valuable information starts 5 minutes in. You and your kids need to work on your basic reading comprehension and context clues
@Rock Steady Junior I have to disagree as I have personally watched it with my son and seen the little dude JJ getting outta bed when his parents put him in bed and when the parents catch him they giggle put him back it happens about a dozen times and then they let him stay out of bed and eat snacks. Thatz a big no that teaches kids it's okay to be getting out of bed because eventually the parents will Crack nope!
I work at a daycare and I had cat videos playing on my phone for the kids to watch for a moment and they all started chanting CocoMelon (3-4 year olds btw). I immediately said "Coco Melon is banned here" My coworker looked at me like I was nuts and said "They can watch cat videos but not CocoMelon?" looking at me like I was stupid and crazy. I just said "Yeah", didn't go into how it rots their brains almost. Like cat videos are real life animals caught on video aamd it's vastly different than CocoMelon. Plus the kids were enjoying the cat videos just as much and actually laughed and talked about the video unlike anything I've seen in CocoMelon
Yeah please don’t show this in your preschool classes, this shit is literally designed by evil ass people to be as psychologically manipulative and addictive as possible to young children.
I introduced my 3yrs old son from 3 months and it has affected his speech development. I have now employed a speech therapist for him. His one and half year old brother is doing very well without cocomelon.
What frustrates me about Cocomelon and it's hundreds of clones is that there are so many better, more educational shows out there that have way more effort put into them and actually teach something of value to children instead of repeating the same obnoxious nursery rhymes over and over again. Sesame Street, Bluey, Arthur, Daniel Tiger's Neighbourhood, the list goes on.
Just last night I was telling my boyfriend that we are stopping Cocomelon from today. I noticed my daughter would get super overstimulated for bedtime, some nights she would take a whole hour to fall asleep.
@@CouchMomClub I'm 12 and I went to Chuck E Cheese at 0 and got the limited edition Magician Chuck E plush 2010 I kept it ever since. My role model would be Chuck E Cheese.
It IS demonic ! I saw my child how he turned from a very calm baby to someone i don’t know after watching cocomelon for 2 months… detoxed him from every screen tv phone etc.. now he came back to normal
Whatever happened to Baby Einstein? Classical music, hand puppets, slow scene changes... I had a love/hate relationship with it. Loved that it soothed my grand babies and held their attention (18 -24 mo), hated that it made me sleepy. How about Wonder Pets? Great imagination, good music and the adventure was usually based on a famous painting. Or Backyardigans? It took me 2 episodes to figure that show out. 🤭 Or Barney? The Wiggles? Bear in the Big Blue House? Mr Roger's Neighborhood? Sesame Street? Bluey? These shows didn't cause tantrums, had a slower pace, encouraged imaginative play and introduced famous music and art and discussed things important to young children and actually taught the beginnings of preschool. I think they should be on for the new generations. It's the adults - station owners and older parents - who get bored, not the little kids.
Well YES!!! LOVED baby Einstein and Elmo’s world! Also I don’t think I watched bear in the big blue house but nowadays I can’t stand Barney or the wiggles or caillou! Also I grew up with dora the explorer, cedarmont kids,Mickey mouse clubhouse, etc! I’m so glad I was born in the 2000’s!
My 3 year old son was not exposed to TV and electronics until 2. And we only allowed him to use the tablet or phone only when we were eating out. But we would engage with him while he was watching so that way it would break his attention to the screen. He's able to talk to us while watching. And I would tell him how many minutes left and when it's times up, he can put it down easily. We don't do any screen time at home. He knows that. So he never asks for it. He loves to play on his own and with all of his toys. Our baby girl who is 1 1/2 seems to be more affected by the screen and Cocomelon because of her exposure at grandma's house. She is a nightmare at home. So we won't be leaving them at her house anymore. She doesn't respect us. And she doesn't listen to us. Our daughter was exposed early because of seeing her brother at grandma's. So when she's home with us after picking her up, we have to break her cycle. And she cries for hours. So, absolutely no more!
Yeah I finally got a tablet (my own, I used my moms phone when I was 7) when I was 9, and my attention span is great, I limit screen time, I stay away from bad things, and I just enjoy life. Life isn’t always electronics!
There is a channel out there that took all the episodes with Cody as the lead (the black friend) and we watch that channel. I agree with limiting screen time and not playing too many episodes, but we allow it and enjoy the songs together as a family.
Bluey is also a bad one. I think if I ever had kids I would be careful for what they watch because bluey and coco melon are just brainrot. cocomelon is just brainrot. Modern animation and ideas like bluey these days for kids; bluey just seems very dead with nothing special to it and it looks very overstimulating to watch. I think kids will have a higher chance of getting like mental health focusing problems from watching cocomelon. Used to babysit kids and all on the tv was cocomelon that drained my brain too. Old shows like on cebeebies and stuff had a much more relaxed and developing series that kids could enjoy. Seems sometimes the industry does ‘not care’ anymore and they’re coming with deader animations and plots each year. Bluey is so over refined. I recently saw bluey is trying to combat mental health too and conditions which is fine but I don’t like bluey. It’s only slightly better than cocomelon. Cocomelon is a soulless cooperation and as a child I had a lot of sense but if I watched this as a child it would have mess me up.
@angelar9759 As someone who loves Bluey, I'm sorry you feel that way about the series. Cocomelon is the type of brainrot that addresses kids with a demeaning attitude, with insipid lessons and a bland artstyle. Bandit and Chilli are two of the best animated parents I've ever seen, allowing their kids to learn and grow in a safe environment, without fear of being talked down to and they rarely get met with an angry response. When Bluey crashes in the lounge room and knocks something over, Chilli's first instinct wasn't to have a go at her, she made sure she was okay, before reminding her why she had to be more careful. Bluey far outshines Cocomelon, since it was made with the goal of making an engaging and educational series, with as many life lessons and morals for kids as there were parenting techniques and methods for handling difficult scenarios for adults to learn. I won't hide my disappointment that you think Bluey is only slightly better than Cocomelon. All I hope for is that you take some time to reflect on the intentions of the creators and how successfully they communicate the reasons why they make the show. I hope the love and dedication put into Bluey shines through for you.
You’re certainly on point about parents really needing to put something on to just shut their kids up; but WHY of all things does it have to be Cocomelon? There’s literally 3 whole seasons of Bluey, probably the best kids show in the last 30 years; and they instead show them an overstimulating repeat of technicolor vomit.
Lots of parents see all kid shows as the same. They don't see a difference between good shows like Bluey, Trash Trucks, or Daniel Tiger and the bad ones like Cocomelon and TH-cam Kids. Not to mention these are going to be first results when you search little kid shows.
I haven't even heard of Cocomelon before this. My god, I swear I could boot up Source Filmmaker for an hour and crank out something of better quality than that with my 0 years of experience in 3D animation.
My mother and other parents around me used to say a show was too "sassy" if they didn't want to explain why they didn't want to watch something. That was a pretty good way to not expose me to sexuality/racism when I was old enough to ask but not old enough to understand.
I'm curious, but why doesn't Encanto work in your house? I think it's a beautiful representation of grief and acceptance that's presented in an easy to understand way for children, similar to Coco, but that's just my opinion.
Yeah I was confused about that too. I completely understand why she doesn't want her kids to watch Caillou, and even Dora the Explorer is not the best, but Encanto? Maybe it's because the We Don't Talk About Bruno song is too addicting or something. Who knows?
I've got a couple of baby nieces, one of them doesn't really watch anything because she would rather run around and play with toys, the other sometimes watches TH-cam (her mother takes great care with regards to what she watches), she mentioned today that she never lets her watch Cocomelon for specific reasons, and I didn't really know anything about it so I found your video. Now I feel up to speed and better prepared for the job ahead, your video was really thorough, thought provoking and well made, thank you!
I’m REALLY glad that I don’t watch cocomelon. I stick with better culture shows such as Hi-5 (1999 Australian kids show) Fact: Originally it was called Checkgate back in 2006-2013, then ABC Kid TV in 2013-2018
my daughter has been watching cocomelon for a year now from the time she was 18months till now 2 1/2 and she now has speech delay, throws a lot of tantrums due to this I am going to ban my child from watching cocomelon and other musical cartoons.
I work in a restaurant and I have witnessed a friend of one of the other waiters there put an iPad in front of their 1 yr old and then completely ignore them as the baby clicked on TH-cam videos. The baby was tapping on colorful kids videos every few seconds, just one after another, while the parents were talking to each other or on their phones. That is not parenting.
@@mynameisreallycool1 I sent my ex-wife a video of a case of a little Asian girl who fell off of a building after being alone in an elevator because the nanny was on her phone, negligent. The dumb ex-wife feminazi monster didn't get the message, becasue that __itch still focuses more on her phone than my daughter, but I'm too poor to afford a babysitter, so I ahve to settle for my ex-wife, letting her have access to my daughter so long as I am unable to save my daughter from her.
@@mynameisreallycool1 I think parents in public are like if you go to Chuck E Cheese and they do a KID CHECK Stamp on your wrist or a sticker and they stamp your back to make sure that "Everyone comes together leaves together" that would be parenting.
As a person that is not a parent I appreciate parents giving their kids ipads while dining at a restaurant. I don't want to be eating while listening to crying and temper tantrums. I find it respectful.
Ok for one thing I make music, so the reason you're kids are so addicted is because the creators know the Major scale, it's the same for pop. Not listening and texting everything, is a lot bigger than just Cocomelon any show can do that if there interested in it can work both ways, but it's always been up to u of what your kid watches. For my kid she interacts with me but I don't just leave my kid alone when she watches it, I join in with her and all on dancing, singing and all that. If you're using the show as a babysitter your the on who's the real problem, using show's like that just makes it worse.
I been binge watching these negative cocomelon reviews and was shocked that there is no positive comments defending the cartoon. Is it really that bad? I have 4 kids 3 of which grew up watching cocomelon. And they are still amongst the most well behaved in thier classes. They watched cocomelon religiously. They have great speech and no tantrums at all. When I turn off the TV and say that's it no more TV, there's not even a peep. Because they know no matter how much they complain they will not win with me so they have to accept it. If the are throwing tantrums because you turn off a program that is a great opportunity for a teaching segment. They must learn they cannot win over parents. On another note I know of a few children that have never seen cocomelon and have terrible behavioral issues. It's from the parenting not the programming. Not saying anyone is a bad parent. Just saying that a child's behavior shouldn't be based off of what they are watching alone. My oldest (8) now watches all those gamers that be cussing up a storm and crude humor, I am comfortable with him watching it because he doesn't repeat what's on the channels. He doesn't have a potty mouth and he's just the sweetest thing with his little sisters. No bullying no crude humor or misbehavior from him. On the other hand people hear thier kids. Opy everything they say and just put it off as "oh thats just the way he is I don't know how to make him stop". We have to step up our game as parents. All of us including myself because nobodys perfect. Good luck my fellow parents...
I agree that it all boils down to parenting. But I disagree with your choice of language when you say "winning." I believe I understand what you are saying; parents outline the expectation and guide their children accordingly. Maybe there are some good qualities in the show but my video is not the in favour of the show.
I must admit at first I didn't like the show either. When I first saw it I didn't want my kids watching it either. I thought it was pretty dumb and promoted misbehavior as well, with out needing anyone else to point it out. But I let them watch it nonetheless because that's what they was watching at thier mommas house and I knew there was no way I could prevent the exposure. So I figured I'd just monitor thier behavior and look for any changes that I could link to the cartoon. And to my surprise there actually was none.
I totally agree with you. For what I have experienced with my 15 mm month old daughter, she loves Cocomelon and honestly I have not noticed a slight misbehavior on her part from watching this show. On the other hand, she actually has learned from it. It's crazy how many good things she has learned from it: hugging, play with her dogs, eat with her spoon, help around the house, climb up on things, she loves the outdoor videos, she loves to help others and be kind the same way Cocomelon does, and when it is time to turn the show off, she does not even complain. And if some days we don't turn the TV on, she does not miss it. I think this video is double standard because I know of many parents who let their kids watch Harry Potter and many other shows which to me are evil and a horrible influence for them. I think what makes kids misbehave and act weird is not Cocomelon, is everything else which they are exposed to and parents think are ok.
My baby got to see some videos on Jewtube today with me, but when I said she had to stop, she began a tantrum, so I hit her butt. :-) I say this because I know there is probably a libtard on the iternet who will complain. They prefer beign soft on rebellion making rebellion easy. That's why the US is full of brats. No good parenting. Just enabling and weakness on the part of the "authorities."
I fell down a weird rabbit hole of cocomelon conspiracy theories after putting it on jokingly and watching it with my friends, do you have links to the studies/claims experts have made? Also I’m curious? Maybe I’m biased but I grew up on Dora the explorer and in retrospect I think it aided in my language learning skills later on.
So many experts online,...….I am a qualified educator. Each child as with any adult learn differently and respond differently to external stimuli. Too much time online in any context can be detrimental. If you're concerned limit screen time. Teach them to read books instead.
I mean, I used to be a kid, but i didn't watch Cocomelon or those hyperstimulating kids channels that act like drugs. I watched something different like cartoons, comedy, TH-cam, movies and other stuff. A message for all the parents out there: Don't let your kid watch Cocomelon, it's so hyperstimulating that it acts like a drug and hypnotizes your child.
My cousin doesn't let her kids watch cocomelon cos she said it hypnotizes them and that bothers her. I think when I babysit my niece I'll find shows from my childhood and put them on for her like Mr. Rodgers and Rimper room.
I remember my cousin was trying to cook and i turned cocomelon on at random. His daughter hushed up for a good while and now is always watching cocomelon
I. Am. So. Angry. Cuz i am an intern at a kindergarten and the teachers kept opening Cocomelon for the kids and when i change to some other shows sometimes the kids say they're bored and wanted to watch Cocomelon instead. And im talking Shaun the sheep, Bubble Guppies, and even Bluey. They dont wanna watch those shows and would rather watch Cocomelon. Its a disease. Most songs are stuck in my head now. Help.. Even sometimes when i change into other shows, the teachers would automatically switch to Cocomelon after a while. I'm so furious
Any normal parents will notice that their children are sucked into the screen when those addictive kids "shows" are on and stop showing them further, me and my wife being two of them. We legitimately freaked out when we found our kid was glued to the screen and stopped responding to us when we showed one 30 min long kids show on TH-cam. Those neglectful parents may think this is a good thing to just shut up their kids, which is a huge problem
Its not even violent. That's with just about any kids show. Will they grow to be serial killers? What's the difference between coco melon and sesame street, or elmos world. To each his own
My mom and others use to hate that I watched YuGiOh 😂And anime but my vocabulary was complex from a young age( only in English) and I am common with alot of words that are not common in speech but are in text in simular shows .
Actual good shows for children: POCOYO Pokémon MLP, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Scooby Doo, Mr. Bean, Tom and Jerry, SpongeBob Charlie and Lola, any PBS Kids show, Crashbox , team umizoomi, Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder, old seasons of Postman Pat Fireman Sam (old seasons) Pingu Blue’s Clues, Wild Kratts, Little Einsteins, Sofia the First, Any Disney movie (that’s not a remake) Steve Irwin Documentries, Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids, In the Night Garden, 64 Zoo Lane, Ghibli films, etc. These are what I recommend for children!
Encanto and Dora… I was like 🤔 those are very specific, why those? Especially Dora- that was a staple growing up, and even with my nephews. They have no issues at all. My niece is definitely a victim of Cocomelon.
The only thing that attracts kids watching cocomelon is. Those big ass glassy eyes, flashy colors, exaggerating mouths, facial expressions, tone mimicry of other kids songs, and it's lack of variety compared to Elsa gate for example.
I’m a 33 year old with no kids, but considering having one with my partner. This scares me because I’m so out of touch with today’s new trends and tech. I grew up playing with chalk in the backyard and playing with seashells
I grew up listening to Baby making music, Snoop, Ice Cube, SUC, Biggie, etc. Avoided gangs, the trap, prison, sexual hangups, and bullets. It's all about how parents put into context what their children experience.
In my house, I banned Cocomelon in my house. I'm tired of seeing Cocomelon toys and videos at Target. The only thing we OGs was watching as a kid was Thomas The Tank Engine. Thomas has always been my favorite show, I have a baby cousin and he loves watching Thomas with me.
Good thing I grew up with Nickelodeon (and Nick Junior), Disney Junior, Cartoon Network, PBS Kids, and Netflix! But sadly, Netflix has Cocomelon now......
Cocomelon seems like it was made by someone who sees music as a way of getting those synapses going, to the point where they studied the entire “system type” they’re aiming for to crank out as many action potentials as possible. I always felt like most of those songs had a very specific swing beat that reminds me of a human heartbeat - a sound that humans associate with the womb and cuddling. The heavy use of keyboard percussion instruments, like marimbas, seems intentional too. Marimbas are clear, but their “attack” is brief. It’s a sound that can get your attention without being explicitly loud or overwhelming. Additionally, it seems like the marimbas were played on a keyboard; keyboards generally guarantee a very consistent sound. People shell out thousands for string sounds that take up gigabytes of hard disk space to avoid the consistent sound of keyboard strings, but the consistency is less noticeable for mallets, and might be desirable. After all, some adults like synths too. But these synths are higher fidelity than the Roland synths that made up the soundtrack of my childhood shows and tapes. Still, I wonder if culturing kids with these universally non-native sounds is even the best idea. Then we have the lyrics. Everything is “good for you”. Let’s keep those little sparks going.
My daughter used to watch cocomelon she never had any of these problems but i guess every child is different she is 4 now. We only allow screen time for 15 minutes and thats on the weekends only cause during the week is study time we have her desk set up with everything she needs and reading to my daughter is a must i also let her read to me. She is enrolled in ballet and swimming, so she stays pretty busy. She is already reading and writing. It's all about control. Even adults need to control their screen time thats why i don't believe in the tiktoks or Facebook its a no for my household.
I'm a 2000s kid and I used to watch PBS kids shows like Arthur, Sesame Street, Teletubbies, Clifford. I like those shows. I'm glad I don't watch Cocomelon.
So glad I grew up with Sesame Street, School House Rock, Curious George, SpongeBob, etc. and not whatever the hell Cocomelon is meant to be. If I had a kid and I let ‘em watch smth, I’d do Bluey.
Yeah I didn't want my daughter to watch it but somehow it was found...(I think her aunt or her friend's house) now I use it at keypoints to get her to eat longer.
Very smart to take control of when and how you watch the show. We should always use shows and devices as parenting resources, never as a measure to control or over stimulate our kids.
I had a few mums advising me against cocomelon as soon as I had my baby because their kids got addicted to it and would throw tantrums wanting to watch it, so I’ve avoided it like the plague and so glad I did. I’ve never shown her a cocomelon video! Would you say putting normal nursery songs on TH-cam is ok?
No, TH-cam nursery rhymes were worse sometimes. Idk exactly how they compare since Ive never seen them, but I do know TH-cam kids is similar with low quality, repetitive, and often ai generated videos that have a same effect on kids. But what makes it worse is some of those fake cartoons that straight up out sexual themes and disturbing imagery of famous cartoon characters. I'd say please monitor what they see on TH-cam. When they get older, I've heard good things about Trash Trucks on Netflix, and Daniel Tiger. But one and only one show that is a must watch (in terms of modern day preschool era shows), is Bluey. Not only a good quality show, but somethkng designed for you as a parent to also learn things as well.
Hey everyone! I made a follow up video that goes into more detail about what’s really wrong with cocomelon. th-cam.com/video/DxmfvaL5HrQ/w-d-xo.html check it out here!

cocomelon is weird and cringe
I agree with you 💯 as cocomelon has totally damaged my toddler, emotionally, development and etc. I couldn't understand were all the issues and behaviour was coming from. Until I have to seat and start watching cocomelon my self. To understand what's going on. No more cocomelon for my kids as well... Never. Cocomelon needs to be cancelled
My friend’s baby cousin watches it all the time and the songs are stuck in his head, now they’re in mine, the cocomelon apocalypse
As a 23 year old childless woman I find this extremely interesting
Anything could distract me from life is all interesting😂 and i swear they’re all unrelated things:))
Well... Start having kids. Your people (whites) are being replaced.
As another 23 year old childless woman, I feel the same way.

Oh wow and he throws tantrums
@Zara Art
I feel bad for you
My two boys watched it and I noticed that when I call them they don’t listen. Do you have a show that you recommend?

It’s crazy.
This is really interesting!
This is why I think Bluey is one of the best modern shows for young kids. It's super slow, with easy-on-the-eyes colors, and teaches good lessons. Plus, as a bonus, it's fun for parents too.
@@randomtraveler4149 yes! I we love Bluey! If we are watching tv, it’s usually Bluey!
👉🏼 rotate toys- get the blocks out today, the puzzles out tomorrow, the farm animals the next… etc
👉🏼 books! Books! And more books! Keep these on rotation too. Every room in our house has a little pile of books!
👉🏼 art space- always has pencils and paper but sometimes a new little creative project appears.
👉🏼 music!
Add more if you’ve got them!
I agree!
I like how this is a video explaining how and why cocomelon is bad.
Don’t see why you’re shaming parents and are giving unsolicited advice.
@@adrianawashere1 ah pretty much the entirety of social media is a platform of unsolicited advice lol so toughen up. And nothing I wrote is “shaming”, unless my being baffled somehow offends you. In which case that’s your issue, not mine.

Learning for Littles! It’s a great alternative on TH-cam!
Imagine people having nostalgia about cocomelon. it disgusts me. i grew up without electronics, so i just hung out with my friends and played outside. none of this mind control.
I grew up with a SEGA GENESIS a SONY PS2 with DUALSHOCK 2 I never even had cocomelon in the 1980s

@@sirenbassist7854 interesting perspective. I agree wholeheartedly.
Thanks for sharing, I'll have to check it out.
I watched that same video, very informative
My kids love bluey
Frames per second has nothing to do with pacing. The amount of cuts is the relevant factor.
Wether the show is in 25fps or 60fps, it doesn’t make a perceivable difference
@@musiccer7446 I watched the video, it said nothing about fps but I did talk about cuts, I believe that she meant cuts lol

It's interesting how kids brains work and how a tv show made to teach kids can hinder some that watch.
Seems like cocomelon gives autism.

Or Barney?
The Wiggles?
Bear in the Big Blue House?

Sesame Street?
Bluey?

Bluey is so much better than cocomelon. It treats kids with respect and explores topics with emotional maturity that can be appreciated by all ages.
I just simply hate cocomelon, every time I see it, I just felt disgusted, and all and stuff, I will suffer if I see it.
I’m a teen with no kids (14 yrs old) watching this, but I loved this video
@Starry sky I like them both. Encanto has more of a telenovela vibe, but yeah overall I also prefer Coco. (Probably because I'm Mexican lol)
Maybe the magic kinda stuff
Maybe the magic kinda stuff
@@jul8365 the problem with magic?
Yeah I was confused about that too. I completely understand why she doesn't want her kids to watch Caillou, and even Dora the Explorer is not the best, but Encanto? Maybe it's because the We Don't Talk About Bruno song is too addicting or something. Who knows?
My niece threw tantrums as a toddler when we didn't allow cocomelon at my house... she would scream when it was nap time
That would make my son say "Sacre Bleu!"
Dora the explorer is fine bruh, but cocomelon?
Strange.
Thank you 😊
I’m REALLY glad that I don’t watch cocomelon. I stick with better culture shows such as Hi-5 (1999 Australian kids show)
Fact: Originally it was called Checkgate back in 2006-2013, then ABC Kid TV in 2013-2018
Good thing i did not watch their recent ones long time ago, it was only the old ones from thier old name ABC TV
my daughter has been watching cocomelon for a year now from the time she was 18months till now 2 1/2 and she now has speech delay, throws a lot of tantrums due to this I am going to ban my child from watching cocomelon and other musical cartoons.
I’m curious about this a little bit,
But why don’t you let your kids watch Encanto? It has a good message and stuff, just curious 👀
My niece used to watch Cocomelon before but not anymore, now she's watches Bluey.
Also JJ literally goes to school and he can whistle which means he was born to be way smarter than the average baby
Good god. Seeing families like that in public is so sad. I hate that this is the norm and that these kind of parents make excuses for this.
The creepy thing about Cocomelon is that all the babies' heads are bigger than the grownups' heads.
@@tinaclaxton5818 I like that idea too. I've thought about it but will wait until she is a little bit older. Thanks! 🥰
Im glad I was born in the mid 2000s where I grew up watching Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Disney channel.
Why would anyone care about something so harmless when there are things that are so much worse.
Like elsa gate
I remember my cousin was trying to cook and i turned cocomelon on at random. His daughter hushed up for a good while and now is always watching cocomelon
2:23 yeah, Caillou had a threatening scene like he is 13 but his dad has a gun on one of the episodes
I don't know about cocomelon, but I remember Tim running from the other end of he house when he heard the Marine Land commercials lol 🤣🐳
I've heard the stories... then marine land was.... underwhelming... 😂
I. Am. So.
To each his own
If there’s any Kids Show I love a lot more than Cocomelon, it would have to be good ol’ Thomas the Tank Engine! 😁
I used to watch Thomas 😊
@@CouchMomClub You can always watch it again if you’d like!
OH HECK YEA, Just make sure to show them the first 7 seasons and seasons 17-21, the rest suck
4 me its t&j. Too bad they cut it up...
Seasons 17-21 are ok, but Season 25 is absolutely trash
My mom and others use to hate that I watched YuGiOh 😂And anime but my vocabulary was complex from a young age( only in English) and I am common with alot of words that are not common in speech but are in text in simular shows .
Those cards have paragraphs of text on them I don't know illiterate ygo players lol
Actual good shows for children:

me : why not include r21 movies
Where’s StoryBots? And VeggieTales?
Okay but wtf is wrong with Encanto.
According to the woman in the video its because they don't talk about Bruno
Encanto and Dora… I was like 🤔 those are very specific, why those? Especially Dora- that was a staple growing up, and even with my nephews. They have no issues at all. My niece is definitely a victim of Cocomelon.
The only thing that attracts kids watching cocomelon is. Those big ass glassy eyes, flashy colors, exaggerating mouths, facial expressions, tone mimicry of other kids songs, and it's lack of variety compared to Elsa gate for example.
Thanks for finally saying that it causes development issues
every little kid should be watching PBS kids
or nick jr
I recommend watching Blue’s Clues, it actually shows good morals and extremely entertaining. Highly recommended!
Exactly
Well done sister. my 5 months old little princess is into cocomelon so deep that she cries when you stand on her way.
Thank you for sharing
Millennial parents need to face major backlash for making kids watch cocomelon
i loved watching stampylonghead when i was around 7 - 8 years old, it was like the minecraft version of mr rogers neighborhood for me
In my house, I banned Cocomelon in my house. I'm tired of seeing Cocomelon toys and videos at Target. The only thing we OGs was watching as a kid was Thomas The Tank Engine. Thomas has always been my favorite show, I have a baby cousin and he loves watching Thomas with me.
Do anyone agree for me that the kids should watch Bluey.
As a 13 year old Aunty to two girls I find this informative
ARE YA READY KIDS ? is my millennial analogy of the coco melon tune
Cocomelon has killed my brother inside everytime i see him with cocomelon, he now pronounces bananas “banaenaes”
We should always use shows and devices as parenting resources, never as a measure to control or over stimulate our kids.
interesting video. i didn’t realize how bad coco melon really is…
This is really interesting! Could you link the research you mentioned, I'd love to read more!
I didn't just use one source but I will do my best to link the main stuff.
@@CouchMomClub cool, thank you so much!
Kids should watch pbs, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network like us young mfs
My baby sister always watches it I tried putting on a new kids show but when I do she screams as if she's in a murder scene and I just hate it.
I've seen this happen with my friend's baby too
Just put her on and keep doing it every day until she forgots about it
Cocomelon is demonic
Don't worry, we will protect kids from cocomelon
I had a few mums advising me against cocomelon as soon as I had my baby because their kids got addicted to it and would throw tantrums wanting to watch it, so I’ve avoided it like the plague and so glad I did. I’ve never shown her a cocomelon video! Would you say putting normal nursery songs on TH-cam is ok?
Nursery songs are great! Try to find songs sung by a human at a regular place
And sing them yourself every time you can. 😊
I’m showing my mum this video, and hopefully no cocomelon will be allowed in the house for my new sibling coming summer 2024
