For the past year, I've had to endure Cocomelon almost on a daily basis because of my baby sister. I can also confirm that "Cocomelon withdrawals" are a real issue.
My sisters ex would put it on for his daughter and it's God awful, she would throw fits when she didn't get to watch it. Unfortunately now the same thing happens for slime asmr because of my sister. Update: Had to babysit my niece and my sister told me to just put on cocomelon for her for a few hours
Bluey seems like a really good show for kids. From what I've seen, it really seems to promote playing outside, and after watching the episode kids could use a similar scenario to what they watched while being outdoors
I'm a nanny and when I look at ads put out by families, it's common to see parents request mininal screentime for the kids, but sometimes I specifically find "NO COCOMELON," and it is honestly such a relief to see. UPDATE: I now work at a daycare, and the no cocomelon days are over. All good things must come to an end.
I found out I'm autistic/ADHD about two years ago which means I've gone my entire life not knowing what the hell was wrong/different about me. I really enjoyed kids' shows and cartoons growing up. But when I started checking out shows with my own kid, they gave me insane headaches and drove me nuts. This does a VERY good job at explaining why. I've since introduced my kid to the shows I watched as a child (especially something like Blue's Clues or something equally "calm" when she needs to chill out before bed). Thanks for helping me figure all that out and give a name to it.
I swear, if I ever have a child, I'll let them watch only old shows, things like the classic seasons of Thomas & friends or the little red tractor (Dunno if that one was ever distributed outside of german speaking countries), things I enjoyed watching as a kid.
@@Foxy_Lightning th-cam.com/video/OGCvyW1yx4M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=11rQhpeL3HE6BF6H Little Red Tractor was actually a British show dubbed in German "Kleine Rode Traktor"
I used to volunteer for a preschool and they had “song time” where the kids would listen to songs on a tablet and eat some snacks. A cocomelon video came on and all of the tots stopped what they were doing put down their cheese crackers and remained fixated on the screen for the duration of the video. It was honestly kind of terrifying.

@@Awesoemfella Yes regular and also in another language or without lyrics. And the teachers in my preschool played pop songs in english (it is not our language).
Honestly everyone should put parental restrictions on tablets where they don’t show videos like Cocomelon or other garbage videos that feel like MK Ultra.
@@Awesoemfella yes.. song that fit for kids.. nursery rhymes are fine so are some other songs on their own.. just none of the cocomelon stuff because it just overall seems like it won't be very good in the long run.. relaxing instrumental music can also work
There’s nothing wrong with letting kids watch tv because parents do need down time so there should be no shame for that. But as a babysitter the second I turned on coco melon the kids kept quiet and didn’t move. I limited it as much as I could and got them to dance to Disney songs instead and watch octonauts or Sophia the first. Luckily they didn’t throw tantrums for a very long time but they definitely did put up a fight.
OCTONAUTS! Omg, I loved that so much when I was little! I think it's still running which is AWESOME because the educational stuff about marine animals was always so interesting to me when I was little. I mean it still is! 10/10 good show for kids. I know some people wish there were more female characters but honestly most kids are gonna base their favorite character off of whoever is coolest in their opinion.
SonicGirlZ I fully monitor everything they watch when I babysit so they technically don’t have access I do I’m just letting them watch Disney music videos or TH-cam kids videos that I fully monitor
I don't understand why people are so fond of the "But it's for kids" argument as if toddlers and young children are hamsters or something, as if what they consume doesn't matter because they're not even human yet. It's precisely because they're children that they deserve to experience good, healthy entertainment. Our brains develop at a very rapid rate when we're kids. What these kids consume will reflect on their social life, school life, and by extension the development of their whole early personality. Why does this even need to be said?
Agreed wholesale. Just because it's for kids doesn't mean it has to be low qualily and ugly. In fact, kid's content should be on par with adult content.
I'm surprised Bluey's Hide and Seek, an episode about bluey not being able to stay on task and having to learn to focus to accomplish the goal she set out to do, is way less hyperactive than anything cocomelon put out
I imagine one of those cocomelon kids in the future having a Winter Soldier-like episode when they hear the cocomelon intro for the first time in 20 years
@@XiELEd4377 for me it feels like a 50/50, you never really know what's gonna happen. I don't think its gonna become like vine at this rate though, so I'm just gonna guess
It's not just the visuals keeping kid's attention, it's also the songs. Constant music playing with saturated colors and quick changing shots. It's just a sensory overload and kids need to focus on it to try to figure out what is happening because there's too many things happening.
I babysitted my brother at a young age and I learned and saw that these jerks use highly exaggerated thumbnails and vibrant video with some iconic characters like the adventures, SPIDER-MAN! Elsa, and Disney and Pixar char, he mainly watches these channels in another language and they sometimes are highly violent and sexual and even though i made him watched YT kids and I babysit him when I was 11-12 and I constantly told my mom he was watching terrible things and she just said “he’s just a kid” I’m 13. And my brother is grown up and slightly matured, I also learned if u take away the kids iPad when they watch these things they get a bigger mental breakdown than when they don’t get tasty food or cool toys, just shows how much YT kids channels creators take control and hypnotize these kids so badly
The songs aren't even GOOD, which is the worst part. How can someone listen to Baby Shark so often?!?!?! I can barely listen to my favorite song 3 times in a row back-to-back. Variety matters.
I don't know if it's the case for Cocomelon, but in other channels for children, there are the same songs repeating over and over again. It drives me mad. 2 examples are "The wheels on the bus", and the "Bingo" dog song.
I remember hearing about a toddler that thought "don't forget to subscribe" meant goodbye after watching hours of youtube. what a fucking world we live in
Imagine if this was Really Common and you whoud hear on the Street Person one"Dont forget To like and subscribe" Person two"you two buddy and Ring the bell"
world??? More like F***ING HELL. Edit: also, ever since I saw Cocomelon on the TH-cam homescreen, I felt a great disturbance in the internet & realized that this is the equivalent of putting school lunch pizza next to a Tsar Bomba & a nuclear reactor.
I literally watched one clip of Cocomelon to see why it was so popular, and I shit you not the hypnotization stuff even worked on me. The flashy, colorful images that zoom by are literally digital weed
@Anti-republican brazilian. Yeah it’s the most dumbed down toddler show I’ve ever seen. Although I think it’s good to teach Spanish it’s not enough Spanish to be worthwhile (and in other languages she teaches English apparently). There are better shows to learn Spanish I guess if you just watch them in Spanish. I wonder how well Ni Hao Kai Lan reaches Mandarin.
Cocomelon is genuinely a psychological *phenomenon*. I just started this video but my gosh the GRIP it has seems so uncomfortably calculated. It's so overstimulating for me that I can't watch it comfortably (mild sensory issues), but for a small child... eesh. When I think of shows that would be good for such a young mind, I think of very slow paces which I think the next part of the vid is about to affirm? I just genuinely think developmentally that slower-paced shows that are calmer, and I do think that even if a slower pace doesn't put your attention in a chokehold, it can still be mesmerizing and engaging in its own right and to a more moderate extent.
As an early child development sciences major, I really appreciate you mentioning that even shows for toddlers should have substance. The majority of brain development occurs in the early years.
honestly i just wish parents would get their kids to watch cartoons on TV instead of on youtube. youtube has no filtering, not even youtube kids. nothing is specifically filtered out like on TV, and just getting sick of your kid and making them watch bright colours and unboxing videos probably numbs their brain to an extent
This was actually super informative, as someone who has 2 young kids it's actually helpful to know what shows are like this, also bluey is an Australian show (I live in Australia) and hence why it's not super popular in America but it's literally the number 1 kids show in Australia on free to air TV it's also amazing because it's made for all ages

i convinced my mom before that cocomelon was really suspicious and she agreed cuz the way my baby brother was legit motionless when watching it scared us. he watches peppa pig now and is much more cheerful. this show is cursed, the animation, the trance it puts kids in, everything.
I’ve only ever seen about 2 seconds of Cocomelon, and from those 2 seconds I can tell it’s the cartoon equivalent of jingling keys around in front of a child to keep them entertained.
Same, I tried to watch some of it, to see what's so great about it, but I don't see the appeal. It just looks like moving colors on a screen, with nursery rhymes playing in the background.
I go to a pk-8 school and my 7th grade classroom is stationed right next to the pre k 3 and 4 rooms, my class and I were bored during lunch so we asked to watch cocomelon as a joke, the teacher turned it on and about5 minutes later the pre k classes walk out and were instantly transfixed to the promethan board playing cocomelon
Hey! This is an interesting retrospective on Cocomelon and the state of children's media. I'm actually the one who storyboarded the Baby Shark sequence in Cocomelon a few years back while I was an intern there (words cannot express how sorry i am), and I can provide some insight on a lot of the decisions that were made back then regarding the show. I don't work there anymore, I haven't for years, but the videos discussed here are ones that I was there for the making of, so I can give a little info on the production side. Also I see y'all being very very angry at Cocomelon in the comments, please don't harass me over this I am not responsible for the company's decisions and I am very sensitive A lot of the time as I worked on the show, I was actually told to dumb down the content, not just in terms of the visuals but also the writing, as most of the design philosophy was, and I quote, "ages 5 and under," meaning a lot of the emphasis the small team of animators put on was on keeping kids occupied and as the video says "overstimulated," which at the time I thought was selling kids' intelligence a bit short. It's the reason why there were so many fast shots and dizzying camera motions. The original storyboard for Baby Shark didn't move around nearly as much as the final product did, as the original intent was to show the Baby Shark dance and not much else. It was also difficult to convey any sort of story thread or moral thanks to the "ages 5 and under" tenet. There were a few things we tried to push in terms of teaching lessons, but most of it got lost in the core philosophy of keeping the kids' eyes on the screen, entertained. This was actually a little bit easier to do back in the 2-D era when it was still ABCKidTV, with one particular example being the Crocodile/Alligator song that I wrote & built the assets for to illustrate the biological differences between crocodiles and alligators in a way kids could understand. The 2-D era was a lot easier to follow in my opinion since it didn't have all that constant flashy 3-D camera movement that merely held kids' attention through the sheer amount of stuff going on on-screen. Cocomelon back then was also animated with a small team of like, 3 or 4 animators who worked on one project each at a time, so regarding the animation, this was a small group of individuals who were trying their best, but I feel that the show could have used a bit more focus on quality than cranking out song after song like, every other day of the week. Looking back at my time interning there, I feel like the show's main shortcoming was its focus on maintaining children's attention with flashy visuals and music that plateaus at the toddlers' level, rather than focusing on advancing their education through moral teachings and engaging (while still obvious) storytelling. I feel like it's not so much some kind of nightmarish post-apoc forced indoctrination so much as an overstimulating lightshow that's the equivalent of feeding kids too much candy. Shows like Bluey, Tiny Planets, Blues Clues, Dora, etc. excel at early childhood development because while they use simple language young children can understand, they grapple with concepts that teach children about morality, language, relationships, generosity, you name it, all stuff that kids need to know to function well and get along with each other as they grow up. The core of good children's media is to not just be entertaining, but also fulfilling, and I wish that Cocomelon had more of that. I ain't saying you're not allowed to have opinions on Cocomelon at all, like tolerate it or hate it I don't care, but this is simply my experience working on the show. if you got this far thank you for reading my experiences in this company but i must stress again please please PLEASE do not witch hunt me over this I was a lowly intern back in the day I was fresh out of high school and I am now happily making video game songs with lyrics content that appeals to all ages
@@evanm320 Actually, what I EXPECTED was that people would completely ignore the rest of it after the first paragraph and just go right to attacking me all like "YOU'RE LITERALLY SATAN FOR WORKING FOR THIS COMPANY EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS HALF A DECADE AGO." I don't have a lot of faith in TH-cam commenters but I did want to share what I thought would be an interesting insider perspective.
Thanks for all the insight. I think money is playing a big part in this - the animators, 3D artists, etc, may have the best of intentions, but the decisions are up to the ones who pay them - and CEOs usually do what's "the best for the company". Meaning that they instruct their employees to produce content that sells well - in other words, more focus on entertainment than education - which is what cartoons used to be like in the 90s (or so I think, I wasn't alive at that time but from what I've seen they were much simpler and made much more sense). Company makes show more entertaining than educational => kids watch it over other shows because they understand it, even though it doesn't cause them to think more, and doesn't cause them to grow => company gets more money THe animators and storywriters are obviously not at fault - they have to do what they're told in order to get paid - and I don't think the even the CEOs are fully to blame. Because if you don't make your show sell well at all costs, then someone else will, and yours will get less and less mainstream and lose popularity. It's a "power race" between companies that's just the result of how modern capitalism works. I've seen this happen in other industries, too. League of Legends hasn't seen a new monster character for well over 5 years. It used to be a game popular for the fact that you can play as a human, a monster, and everything in between, but the marketing people just realized that anime-stylized human champions just sell much better. The community wants something, but the game is free-to-play, and most of the profit comes from skin sales. Human skins are way more marketable than monster skins unless a monster skin either has a really cool idea behind it, or becomes a meme. So, Riot makes all champs (characters) resemble humans, even if it doesn't make sense in the lore, even if their design would be wey better if they were monsters, and even if they literally have the same face as the last champion of the same gender (I wish I was kidding) www.reddit.com/r/LeagueOfMemes/comments/rwflic/same_face_syndrome_gwen_zeri/?context=3 So basically: if show is good, show loses money, capitalism, rich get richer while the poor pickpocket, and we're all gonna die Props for working on one of the most viral music videos in history tho, even if it's baby shark, it's still one of the most popular music vids

I'm studying psychology and if I had a guess as to what was happening with the children is that they are experiencing what we refer to as derealization or depersonalization. Because the show is so immersive and distracting your child from the outside world It's shutting off all of their senses for a very extended period of time. This can cause the child to become complete disconnected from the reality around them and only see cocomelon as their main reality. I've experienced the same thing as an adult in a lot of video games and especially in VR games. This phenomenon isn't completely understood but we can attribute it to shutting off our senses other than our vision for a long time.
I’m not a child psychologist or anything like that, so this is just me talking out of my ass, but overstimulation is a real thing in young kids. I’ve worked with all age ranges in environmental education, and the way they process the things around them is incredibly complicated compared to how older individuals would. They’re too young to be able to process it logically, and a “positive” stimulant like that seems to be almost hardwiring them to want access to that content constantly because of how it makes them feel compared to their regular ordinary stimuli.
@@The_Blue_Otaku spongebob season 1 is litteraly better than the entirety of cocomelons videos and im grossed out comparing a master piece to such masterpiece
It happens with adults too, the addictive overstimulating design of many mobile games and current social media (not the concept itself but how the apps and sites are designed right now) is very problematic. I often refuse to use Reddit in particular (I enjoy seeing the content off-site) because it feels so bad and I get stuck with it for a while because of the addictive setup. I haven’t talk used Instagram or some others so I’m not sure about all of them. Though I imagine it’s a bigger issue in young kids.
hearing those reviews, I'm honestly glad my childhood shows was Sesame street and the late 80s-90s kids education show you can only watch on TV, being airred strictly on certain periods/time schedules of time(public access TV and not those 24hour cable TV).
Luckily Bluey is now already in the process of taking the throne from CocoMelon, for good reasons too! It is actually really good and enjoyable for all ages. Also sometimes tackles heavy subjects.
To be honest I hate coco melon, it’s sad to think about as someone who is overly attached to my childhood. I don’t have a problem with kids playing games or watching tv because after all this is the world we live in now but just seeing so many mothers and fathers talk about their kid self harming for coco melon it just feels personal. I’ve had self harming activity as a kid, not for coco melon or anything but that shit developed into an very specific topic I won’t mention. Them starting young, it’s just scary to think what it can develop into. I’m not the person to love kids, I don’t like them but this genuinely makes me concerned. I wish more kids watched shows with good morals and intentions because holy fuck this is so messed up.
Because it's branded for toddlers, Cocomelon makes parents lower their guard, and let the pretty images drone their toddler into an addictive state, it would be best for parents to monitor what their children watches, no matter how innocent the content may appear.
Guys, that’s how pre-school animation is. It’s cheaper looking because it’s for babies/toddlers and small kids, a little kid isn’t capable to criticize a cartoon for it’s animation style, that’s why cartoons like this have less quality because the benefits are bigger and they don’t waste more money on the videos
Yeah I have a note for that because sometimes I'm stuck with a mlp loving 5 year old and sadly the kid's parent which I live with does NOT monitor the kid's tablet and the stuff they watch is as bad as cocomelon infact they also watch cocomelon. Wanna know the worst part? THE PARENT SAYS THEY WILL MONITOR THE KID'S TABLET BUT THEY DONTAHSUNWIYDBISDWNSSHBWJNWJNQ:SWQIJ
im not an artist, but the color palette aspect of the comparison is probably one of the most important factors that makes Cocomelon videos overstimulating for children. a brief summary of the three other movies used in the comparison: the color palette in Bluey is (in my opinion) very stylized, having matched saturation and other qualities which makes it easier for the eyes. Arcane is pretty similar, except it's a more mature show and the style might be more appealing in terms of artistry. Encanto is more diverse than the other two but the shading and other color-blending methods are so profesionally polished that it most likely mimics real-life vision most, of which our human eyes are most used to and comfortable with. Cocomelon animations however, don't adopt these artistic qualities that give colors their aesthetic purposes and only stick with assets in incredibly bright, contrast shades to captivate children into watching more and more of Cocomelon.
I’m very happy my little sister likes bluey, the show actually teaches them something useful and it’s about a family that actually lives each other, way to go Australian government for making a show I can let my sister watch
What about Pinkfong Wonderstar? I love that show (even tho I don't watch episodes). Its really cute and does all of the colours (not just bright colours). Plus, its like Bluey but for people who like the colour pink, cute things, exterrestrial beings and magic. The morals of Pinkfong Wonderstar are also very helpful and good. Its not annoying its cute and sneaks in alot of stuff that appeals towards epic gamers. And if you don't like the songs, you could just skip/mute them as they are not nessesary to know the plot of the episodes.
fun fact: as you age, something yellowing makes your eyes stop seeing color as brightly. so these babies are seeing these colors even more hard to look at than all of us
"He was caught selling Cocomelon in the bathroom." So yeah, you were saying something about replacing the word “Cocomelon” with any kind of drug the sentence would still make sense? Cuz Idt this makes sense.
Omg, thank you so much. Finally someone is talking about these brainless yet somehow famous 3D kids animation channels. The world is so screwed right now.
at least the nft show can be ironically entertaining because of how bad it is, cocomelon is just, horrible in every single way to the point where its not even funny
The original Phineas and Ferb series was my saving grace in my childhood. I'm grateful Cocomelon wasn't as popular in the past as it is today, because it's literaly too much. Someone send this to whatever organization controls the kids tv community, because they'll not like what Cocomelon is doing.
Hell I'm a young adult and I love watching Bluey with my younger cousin; it's sweet and genuinely funny at times. And it has a lot of valuable lessons for parents too, not just for kids!
i think parents should prohibit their kids from watching cocomelon, and i think the best way to find an alternative is to watch some kids shows for a little bit. you can't stop the creators from making it but you can minimize their audience
For real, fuck cocomelon, blue's clues be hitting different though (I still watch it sometimes because it's entertaining infact more entertaining than cocomelon)
To add insult to injury, the short scenes in Cocomelon Baby Shark are very unfitting because this is a song about a family of happy sharks, not a song about sharks hunting prey.
every day im more thankful for my parents for establishing limits and curfews for both me and my brother (i.e no tv past 10pm, couldn't watch certain cartoons until we reached a certain age)
The colors thing actually makes a lot of sense. Brighter, more intense colors usually click in a toddler’s mind as “cheerful”. So brighter colors tend to mean “happy” and duller, grayer colors feel boring or sad, and I feel like that’s kind of how film makers add emotion to scenes, using lighter, brighter color palettes for happy times and duller or darker colors for sad or stressful moments. Again could be my tired brain overthinking everything but who knows
No no no, i think you've got a point there. The thing about kids (and adults) is that they see bright colors and their attention is directed to it. peoples eyes are naturally drawn to brighter colors. but for kids, pastel/soft colors are more so the way to go. for kids, the best way is to strike a middle ground- use bright but pastel colors. Somewhat muted, but not bleak. Like with bluey- the colors are never too overstimulating. They might be kind of bright, but they're not frying your brain. Simple designs with simple shapes are also easier for kids to digest.
I get your point. Bright colours in cartoons are logical, but the fast pacing with all the bright colours changing are extremely harmful for an toddler's mind. They try to pay attention and when they look into one colour for 3 seconds, the next 3 seconds it's changed, which is why they go to an deep trance.
I'm pretty sure Disney and Pixar have flat out confirmed they use colours to indicate a scene's mood 😂 Makes them pretty interesting to rewatch once you know that 👀
This makes me feel so bad for the younger generations. I would love to see a scientific study on the subject, and i can imagine of that happens and the results come out negative it might do something about the issue. But in the meantime I'm gonna send this vid to my mom, she is a Pre-K teacher and she complains about Cocomelon all the time and this could be the answer to her frustrations
I heard that some toddler/kids who watch cocomelon on a daily basis took more time than usual to start speaking. I forgot the reason behind it but it was something about overstimulation and stuff going on in their brain that distracted them too much

While I understand that raising a kid, let alone multiple, is quite hard, it is crazy how it’s just a matter of handing your kid an iPad/phone and they’re glued to it. I work retail, and I can confirm that I see plenty of little kids/toddlers in strollers with their parents phone watching cocomelon. This really is a problem
It's one thing if you want your kid to not be looking at the screen for too long due to light intensity and such, but for you not letting your kid to watch something to keep them occupied is just stupid. Sounds like you're a bad parent right here.

As someone who grew up with a ton of younger siblings who recently got a Disney+ account (happy now?), I've seen every episode of Bluey at least twice. It's perfect for kids. Good morals, good animation and character design, great development, and realistic situations that always turn out wholesome in the end. It's like Ghibli, slow-paced with a bit of wonder. Edit: my favorite episode would have to be the one with the fairies. following that up is the one where the sisters teach their grandma to do the floss. only this show could make that unironically adorable.
Disney+ started in 2019. Quick childhood Edit: i see the original commenter edited their comment making mine look nonsensical. It originally said, "...grew up with disney+..." for the record
I work in a daycare as a toddler teacher and we put cocomelon music on Spotify and all of my kids sort of stand still and stare at the speaker where the music is coming out of, not really interacting or dancing like they do with other music. It's actually pretty scary 😂
They do that because Frozen was unique and creative. Disney obviously took note from its success. Other things want to capitalize on it... ...and then we get the most terrible shit we can possibly imagine, Cocomelon, which is literally so fucking bright it could have hypnotic properties to it.
I’ve seen “moms” walking around wearing shirts that glorify Cocomelon and act like it’s a cute fun personality trait to let technology raise their kids. Sick

One day I came down stairs to see her watching Cocomelon... she hasn't been the same since. Edit: She's a little over a year old and has not yet developed the ability to speak coherent sentences. The show is nice and slow paced for toddlers so they won't get overwhelmed and become dazed. As somebody who's older but not a parent I even love the show bluey (obvious from my pfp) and alot of other parents too. But for cocomelon? Parents are just tired of it
I babysat for some mom's in my area, and I often was told if they were going to watch TV or be on their screens to monitor what they watched (no cocomelon, baby shark, and other stuff was often on a do not watch list). And I'll definitely say Bluey was such a cute show and I found myself enjoying it too. It's a cute little show with such sweet messages. It also gave me ideas of games to play since the kids wanted to be like Bluey. Bluey is and was definitely light years better than cocomelon, at least from a babysitter's perspective
Sure, but I don't think cocomelon and bluey are competetors. Bluey seems to be more of a competetor to peppa pig, as they both have a lot of similarities. Bluey is still way better than cocomelon, and even peppa pig as well.
weird way to add to the discussion, but when i was in a mental hospital last month, a mom talked about how she had her child watch cocomelon when she was busy with schoolwork. this bit her in ass when her kid would lose their shit when they didn't have cocomelon on. i honestly wouldn't be surprised if its some kind of literal visual drug
I feel like someone smarter and more qualified than us should conduct a longitudinal (long-term) study on the effects that cocomelon had on the cognitive development of young children. Let's not forget, the audio will haunt the nightmares of any sane adult alone. You don't need to look at it, hearing more than two seconds of any of those songs is soul crushing.
I was doing babysitting for this lady and her son is autistic. But I feel like coco melon is the worst. The kid wouldn't move away from the screen. While I was babysitting I decided that the show was too much and switched up to shows that were more natural and not as fast paced. Eventually he was ok with watching the other shows but coco melon gets Alot of attention.
I just gotta say, Bluey is such a good show for younger audiences, every character has depth, there are well written stories and the animation is excellent for a kids show while also teaching kids and older audiences alike some lessons. Well done Ludo Studios!
Bluey is what Peppa Pig aspired to be, but couldn't. My little sister watches Bluey frequently, and I also watch it with her, because, hell, even as a teenager, that show is simply great, with actual lessons to be learnt.
I adore Bluey, it is one of the best kid shows in my opinion, in the way it doesn't talk down to kids and shows a pretty realistic representation of family (which is funny considering they're dogs) and honestly is great for anyone to watch! I hope one day it rises above Cocomelon, that stuff is just terrible, there's no thought put behind it and it doesn't inspire kids to use their imagination (which is really important for kids shows in my opinion). If you put that on for your kid you're just asking for their brain to rot.
My girlfriend is 14 (relax, I'm also 14) and she has Bluey playing in the background while she falls asleep. Meanwhile cocomelon is what you use to physologicalally torture someone
One of my favorite cartoons to watch as a toddler was Little Bear. Even if it was meant for small kids, the show had a very calm and laid back atmosphere with slice of life moments that made you feel right at home in the forested countryside. My mom and I still remember it fondly as our comfort show. I definitely recommend checking out a few episodes (on the official TH-cam channel).
Bluey might unironically be the smartest show for toddlers I've ever seen. Despite being made for younger audiences they pay more attention to detail than anyone asked them to and it's so much more solidly written than it has any right to be. It should be a crime that where I live, it's erred on Disney Jr. Right next to dino ranch and doc McStuffins.

As someone who works in childcare, I absolutely despise Cocomelon. While there is not enough data out there yet to prove the lasting effects of screen time on toddlers, I’ve seen first hand what happens to children who are constantly subjected to it. This “show” is the equivalent of candy in terms of sustenance for the mind, and it takes precious time away from the skills that they need to be learning in these crucial stages of early childhood development.
It happen to my baby sister while the rest of my family is ignorant to the word of brainwashing and brain manipulation, honestly I hate this family and I rather have her train her brain to do chess or playing with that simple tool mathematics that being used for years (I believe it's those long mathematics tools to concentrate for your brain and calculations to help fast thinking)

Cellphone or tablet or whatever time kids do the parents should supervise so their kids don’t watch garbage and also watch in moderation not 8 hours a day cocomelon. I do not think all kids media is bad as their is good animations with story’s and morals like a Disney or Pixar film not 4 hour cocomelon compilation
The other thing to keep in mind about Arcane and Encanto is that the short lengths of the shots are used to make viewers feel emotion, such as fear, suspense, and anxiety. With Cocomelon, there is no story, it's just one mindless clip after the next, meant to steal attention that would otherwise be easily diverted, due to the lack of any creativity in its "stories". I haven't watched Arcane, so I can't speak for it, but having seen Encanto, their uses of short shots are used very effectively to enhance the rich, detailed story already being told, not to mention that one can rewatch songs from the movie and pick up on new details in the animation and lyrics. It's genius because it adds layers to the narrative.
I find that the best children’s content can entertain both kids AND adults. I’m almost 20 but honestly, Sesame Street, Blue’s Clues, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, and so on could STILL entertain me all these years later because these shows value education and find a really good way to make it entertaining which is so important!

Sure makes me miss actually educational kids shows like Zaboomafoo, Arthur, even Dragon Tales. Zaboomafoo was the best because it wasn't on as much, so catching it at the right time on PBS Kids was like catching lightning in a bottle. And the fact that it had a bunch of wild animals both cute and ferocious alike was SO amazing to see as a kid. It's probably what started my interest in animals and pets that continues to this day. The only interest that Cocomelon creates in kids is being more addicted to Cocomelon and making them angry and irritated when they're not watching it. Clearest signs of addiction.
DUDE! That was my holy trinity when I was 9-10! Growing up homeschooled guaranteed I got to catch them all at least every day! I feel like I just got stabbed in the heart with a blade of nostalgia seeing you say that. Where have all the good children's education/entertainment shows gone now?
I remember those, it’s safe to say that with many things the new is higher in quality like 3D animation, CGI, and such, with one exception... that being kids shows, everyone could’ve enjoyed old kids shows, and even learn new things, but with newer shows it seems like what’s good for the business is worth more than what’s good for the kids

Yeah. The sheer amount of colour and blur movement and noises irritates me to no end, and im on the spectrum. Mind you, I dont usually experience sensory overload from a goddamn baby animation.
As someone with autism, you are absolutely right! When I was younger, I couldn't watch anything because of the overwhelming stimulation! The animation is God awful the songs are obnoxious. (Send it back to the earliest 90's) and heads up I'm pretty sure that Bluey. The pacing of Cocomelon is meant to overstimulate which is what keeps them glued to it, constantly 'drugging' them in the sense that the stimulus is constantly shooting into the all child's senses. I feel like the quality of kids shows is going down at a rapid rate. We used to have Sailor Moon, which actually taught kids some lessons and helped them accept different identities with Sailor Uranus, Pokemon who taught us not to be cruel to animals with Charmander and more.
There was also Thomas & Friends which taught us about not acting all high and mighty or we'd get our comeuppance and it's sister show Tugs which told us to hold those dear close to us
And this is exactly why the style of Mr Rogers Neighborhood was so great, imo. Very slow, very long shots, very chill in tone. Not even getting into anything but the style of it

I had a friend (who was a terrible and neglectful mother anyway but cocomelon mad it easier). They didn’t want to deal with their son, so he’d be locked in his room with HIS OWN PHONE watching cocomelon day in day out. This child couldn’t talk at 3, and he wasn’t potty trained, his way of interacting with kids was smacking, beating, hitting, biting. Every time his mum wouldn’t put it on fast enough he’d punch her. If it was on you couldn’t get his attention at all and if you turned it off he’d scream and throw himself onto tiles to hurt himself. If the phone turned off or died he’d throw it out of his room into the wall and scream while his parents slept or had a smoke outside. Towards the end of my friendship with her as he was getting older, he was getting sick of it and BEGGING his parents to read and buy him books. This kid owned one book, and he’d yell at them to read it over and over. He WANTED to learn but the parents just shoved fucking cocomelon in front of him, thus making him the dumbest child I’ve ever met in my life.

Also I see y'all being very very angry at Cocomelon in the comments, please don't harass me over this I am not responsible for the company's decisions and I am very sensitive
A lot of the time as I worked on the show, I was actually told to dumb down the content, not just in terms of the visuals but also the writing, as most of the design philosophy was, and I quote, "ages 5 and under," meaning a lot of the emphasis the small team of animators put on was on keeping kids occupied and as the video says "overstimulated," which at the time I thought was selling kids' intelligence a bit short.
Damn you really expect me to read all that shit?
@@evanm320 Actually, what I EXPECTED was that people would completely ignore the rest of it after the first paragraph and just go right to attacking me all like "YOU'RE LITERALLY SATAN FOR WORKING FOR THIS COMPANY EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS HALF A DECADE AGO."
I don't have a lot of faith in TH-cam commenters but I did want to share what I thought would be an interesting insider perspective.
You've made me read more than I have in 3 months. You sir, are a magician
Company makes show more entertaining than educational => kids watch it over other shows because they understand it, even though it doesn't cause them to think more, and doesn't cause them to grow => company gets more money
THe animators and storywriters are obviously not at fault - they have to do what they're told in order to get paid - and I don't think the even the CEOs are fully to blame.
So, Riot makes all champs (characters) resemble humans, even if it doesn't make sense in the lore, even if their design would be wey better if they were monsters, and even if they literally have the same face as the last champion of the same gender (I wish I was kidding)
www.reddit.com/r/LeagueOfMemes/comments/rwflic/same_face_syndrome_gwen_zeri/?context=3
So basically: if show is good, show loses money, capitalism, rich get richer while the poor pickpocket, and we're all gonna die
Props for working on one of the most viral music videos in history tho, even if it's baby shark, it's still one of the most popular music vids

Yeah, I really don't think dissociation is good for kids.
Interesting.
oh wow my dream is to study psychology congratulations!
but I agree
I’m not a child psychologist or anything like that, so this is just me talking out of my ass, but overstimulation is a real thing in young kids. I’ve worked with all age ranges in environmental education, and the way they process the things around them is incredibly complicated compared to how older individuals would. They’re too young to be able to process it logically, and a “positive” stimulant like that seems to be almost hardwiring them to want access to that content constantly because of how it makes them feel compared to their regular ordinary stimuli.
Bruh if i had a kid I'd rather let then watch old cartoons from the 80s/90s then Cocomelon

im not an artist, but the color palette aspect of the comparison is probably one of the most important factors that makes Cocomelon videos overstimulating for children. a brief summary of the three other movies used in the comparison: the color palette in Bluey is (in my opinion) very stylized, having matched saturation and other qualities which makes it easier for the eyes.
@BlueyBro I mean...this video uses the show as a comparison piece.

every day im more thankful for my parents for establishing limits and curfews for both me and my brother (i.e no tv past 10pm, couldn't watch certain cartoons until we reached a certain age)
But it's also very fast paced so it makes the toddlers more impatient.
Nah, it seems to be relevant
I get your point. Bright colours in cartoons are logical, but the fast pacing with all the bright colours changing are extremely harmful for an toddler's mind. They try to pay attention and when they look into one colour for 3 seconds, the next 3 seconds it's changed, which is why they go to an deep trance.
I'm pretty sure Disney and Pixar have flat out confirmed they use colours to indicate a scene's mood 😂 Makes them pretty interesting to rewatch once you know that 👀
This makes me feel so bad for the younger generations. I feel like someone smarter and more qualified than us should conduct a longitudinal (long-term) study on the effects that cocomelon had on the cognitive development of young children.

It's like when you go on those TH-cam binges and whoops 3 hours are now wasted and you got no idea what to do with your night.

Arcane has the best stories, animation, etc. It's AMAZING.
