      I am on the fence between a Rav Vast B Kurd and Nova Pan D Kurd. The Rav is from Russia, and writing this in winter 2022, I don't know what the maker's views are and he might not be able to state them safely, so I am a little hesitant right now. The Nova Pan drums is less "articulate" to me, and I also wish it was pitched lower, say, B, as the upper couple notes are a little pinched. My guess is that different mallets or even gloves might give me the more articulated sound I want, though.

    • @MariaCalfaDePaul
      @MariaCalfaDePaul  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there thanks so much for your kind comments. I think both drums you mention are great. I only have the Rav not the Nova but have heard good things about them.
      As far as Russia etc. I know the maker did a video that said they no way condone what is happening and in fact find it appealing. They said they are still shipping etc but I understand your concern
      Good luck

    Hi! I was wondering if you by any chance if you knew what the difference between the 12” Idiopan domino pro and the 14” dominus by Idiopan?

    • @MariaCalfaDePaul
      @MariaCalfaDePaul  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Funny that you ask me that because I’ve had the dominus for years and just this week I added a domina.
      The difference so far is the size and amount of tongue however I just read that you added pro.
      I think the pro has more tongues and the base key is different. The base key of the one I just got is G major and the dominus is a different
      Key Also my domina is tuned pentatonic. C pentatonic
      I hope that helps.
      I really like both and am enjoying the portable aspect of the domina since the dominus is much bigger and a lot heavier
      Good luck !!

  • @Vibedrums-usa
    @Vibedrums-usa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Was watching this video and there seems to be some confusion as to what is stainless steel and what is not...also a bit on what stays in tune and what does not. Stainless Steel is non-ferrous thus magnets don't work on stainless...so if the drum is regular steel a magnet sticks to it...if it is stainless it does not. Second...the drums made of thin regular steel will go out of tune over a period of time as everytime you strike the note it stresses the steel across the bottom of the note and since regular steel has a lower tensile strength than Stainless over time it will go out of tune...always low...that is it will decrease in frequency....just FYI...vernon

    • @MariaCalfaDePaul
      @MariaCalfaDePaul  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah that's great to know. I guess when these cheaper drums are advertised they just put out "stainless steel" as a blanket statement. And yes funny thing I noticed is that some of them are not magnetic. Actually I think in this bunch one the 13 inch green one didn't work.
      And that is also interesting about the tuning. I have noticed that my Rav has stayed pretty spot on and I've had them over 4 years. Same with the Zenko and the Guda pretty accurate. The idiopan is strictly tuned with magnets and the two Hluru I have no clue about However I don't own the big purple one any more so I don't know what will happen over time. That's very good info to have. Thank you. The one thing that I do like about the Hluru drums is that they sound way way better than some of the Chinese ones that I have played and I think if it like my first guitar. It was a very difficult to play Yamaha made in Japan actually (as was the case in the mid 1970's ) and my dad got it free with trading in his cigar bands (thank God he quit smoking in his 40's or he would never have lived to 94) anyway it was an awful guitar but my point is that it sparked an interest that has become a lifelong obsession that I never would have been able to spark otherwise as money was tight. So in actuality these less expensive drums can lead to the more beautiful drums such as yours. Oh by the way I recorded this video a month before I got my vibe drum or it would have been named as one of My favorites lol. I only recently released it because after Bailey died it took me some time to get motivated. 💔 Thanks for the clarification. And one day I hope to add a mini vibe :)
