That drum definitely has more of a calypso vibe to it than most. That center tongue is rather different with that upward divot. Very cool drum and a unique sound too. Nice find. I like that gel disc it comes with and thanks for mentioning my video on the Wambooka. I love the free play at the end.

@@MariaCalfaDePaul mine arrived today - ohhhh wow! It sounds so beautiful! I always wanted a handpan but they are overwhelmingly large for someone like me so this is perfect! I got the 16” for about the same price (I suspect it’s the same as the 14” as it measures about 15.5” - the same as my other “14 inch” Hluru) and was lucky to get it with Prime. I just can’t believe how good it sounds.
I agree there is something about these drums that helps soothe sadness. I played mine out on my balcony overlooking the garden and it really lifted my spirits.

@@ukulelesafarikenyayes I was exactly there I started with tongue drums and then I bought a beautiful Rav Vast ,but in 2017 they were half the cost as now however there are other makers making ones that sound just as beautiful ) and then after 7 years of wanting a handpan I got one in the summer of 22! Recently a company sent me one from China and right now I’m thrilled because it is very much staying in tune but i only have it about 10 days. So time will tell. Ajd it will be worth the wait.
At least with the tongue drums you still can make beautiful music and practice!!

@@ukulelesafarikenya yes all of a sudden I’m not feeling the love from the handpan community. They are all saying negative things about the company and telling me that even though I think it sounds good now that it will not stay in tune. So I am so sad about that. At this point I can whole heartedly recommend a hand maker from NJ. Aura Handpans. The one I waited 7 years to get is from him. He has a beginner series that starts at 800. I wound up going up one series into a little more expensive price range because I wanted an extra note etc. But it has stayed in perfect tune for almost 2 years now.
I guess time will only tell about the other one.

First and most importantly, I am so sorry for the loss of your little girl !! I know that heart break and my service dog Sarge who is a German Shep. is going on eleven yr. I know in the back of my mine that the heart break will come. He is my son and a big part of my family. Maria, I don;t know if you know this but there will be a time that you, your little girl your other furry family and other loved ones will be back together for ever. GOD loves us all and with out a shadow of a doubt Animals go to Heaven ! I am sorry that you are going thru this heart break. I watched your videos and saw your picture of her,so cute. After viewing your unboxing of your Hluru 9 note hybrid I ordered one in black. I hope that it will have the tuning cuts that shows that it was hand tuned.. Take care and GOD bless you and yours. thanks Maria, he had surgery dec. 2018 slipped disc. walks but now some balance problem. Arthritic,spondiosos . I will never get another dog.Im 68 and who knows how much time I have and dont want to get another dog and when I die he would not get a good home with lots of love etc. I adopted Daisy 2015 born with out optic nerves so blind she will be 7 in july. However, I just realized that this drum does not have those notes stickers with it. I'm a newbie on Tongue drum. I'm thinking maybe I can use some pencil to write on it. I find this drum to be wonderful for relaxation
You don't really even need the stickers for that
If you want I play songs from a book then yes you might need the stickers but either way I believe it's very doable :) congrats

Wow, thanks, i had take early one of this, but the my prefer is rav vast, for low and sustain armonic or YW Pulsar maybe a lot cheap, the sound this instrument is similar to kalimba very nice. The difference of sound with gouda double tongue without ding for sustain is very much?

I am pretty sure the other brand I think it’s called beetroot is made by Hluru too. I bought the other tuning Amara and it’s virtually identical except it doesn’t say Hluru. But it still sounds as beautiful. Good luck

Hello Ms. Calfa De Paul I have been trying too purchase that Tiel Blue 10" tongue drum that you purchased for about $100.00 you demo'd in one of your videos. Has such a mellow sound like a Kalimba would like to purchase that one but tried searching the internet no luck. Can you list or send me the Manufacture name. If you could list in comments are something. The one that is Tiel blue 10" 8 tongues. A scale. Color doesn't matter but I wanted that particular model another by the same company may sound different. Actually there are many different videos and some of it will come naturally too. And If she wanted to learn with rhythm and counting there are programs you can purchase. "Master the HandPan" which may not be for a tongue drum but he has one for a drum called a "Rav Vastl which is similar. He has some free videos out there too. Good luck

I picked the white one that has the same tongue cut outs but the brand says MOOZICA. Scale of Amara. I love the harmonics it sounds wonderful. No ding but the middle tongue is very very nice and ornately cut.

Yeah I think it depends on how you hit it. and if you use hands or mallets. I still love this drum a couple of years later and I too bought the moozica one that is in Amara. I probably should have bought be one with the note on the middle and not the ding. But I do love the sound and scale
