The best positive spin I can give the creation of the a Hobi Hobi no Mi is that it's from an extremely traumatized child who just wanted bad people to go away and to forget they exist and leave them to their toys. The contractual part of the fruit comes from a certain devilish twisting of "playtime" where the child gets to do anything to the toys because real toys can't really object or consent to their treatment, only be controlled by the whims of the child. Out of this entire video, I think the Tequila Wolf theory is just awesome in the most messed up way. It's such a fucking perfect encapsulation of the horrors of the Celestial Dragons. It's something they would totally do, and there wouldn't even be a logical reason to the evilness, it's purely because they can do it.
I think similarly the memo memo no mi is created by someone who only ever had negative moments in their lives and wanted to be rid of them, to live a life where they could be happy without any bad memories weighing them down.
Or maybe a toy maker who wants the world to forget the bad things/people and always be able to make people happy with their toys. In decent hands that MIGHT be something you could use for a somewhat good especially if it removes memories of bad things from people, but in the wrong hands you get its use in One Piece that we see.
"I wish I could make toys that I could play with forever" I think it's fitting for desires to get twisted much like how when you ask for a wish from a devil in fiction it tends to be not how you pictured it or desired it.
8:11 I've always seen it as a bridge to nowhere. A world noble said "build a bridge that way" and due to their power, it was done, and may never be done.
Honestly, if you think about it, tequila wolf is actually a much worse place to be sent than Impel Down, at least in Impel Down you can easily escape by dying.
I just realized: Remember the video about how many people both knowingly and unknowingly prepare for a flooded world? Making sure that Tequila Wolf is never finished is a great way to do so. You ensure that the techniques to build right at Sea are never lost to time.
We can reconstruct what happened 800 years ago. The Ancient Kindom learned of the rising sea (they might even caused it by using the Mother Flame). The 20 kingdoms (later World Government) found out and fought a war to get on one of the only safe places, the Red Line(this is why they left their kingdoms, except Lili). They need to keep the flooding secret, or everyone will want to get on the Red Line, too. I also noticed something interesting: Joy Boy's allies are unaffected by flooding. Wano built a wall, fishmen and sky people don't care, minks have Zou and the giants have the tree Adam.
Concerning the evil dreams theory, I feel like you could probably explain most, if not all, those seemingly evil powers with children's dreams. Children will wish for the wildest things without thinking about consequences. Especially if they have been hurt or are suffering on some way. For example, a child might wish for the ability to remove memories because of the wish to remove some trauma, or maybe a child is overreacting because people won't play with them enough, so they wish for the ability to eternally play with them even if they don't want to, which might result in Sugar's DF.
3:43 Now I hope that Cavendish gets a fun supporting role later on. Helping the strawhats figure out the nature of demons so they can permanently kill them. Also Cavendish is a swordsman, so maybe Zorro will steal a technique from him.

I've had something similar to that first theory going on in my head for a while, too. After all, we've seen "Dark King" Silvers Rayleigh. Why not (eventually) "Demon King" Roronoa Zoro?
My theory on devil fruits being the wishes of past people is that the fruits aren't exactly what the person wants but rather an over the top or twisted way of fulfilling their desire. Like the hobby fruit, it could be derived from the wish of a child who wanted nothing more but to have as many toys as they want and to play with them forever.

7:40 I'm surprised you didn't touch on the ending of chapter 1113. If the world is planned to flood due to some type of grand cleansing, then a mass bridge connecting to the most important kingdoms makes sense for a purpose outside of perpetual human torture.
If name matters Demons are not a thing, only demonic actions are. However if names don't matter a Demon is like Gear 5. It is a temporary presence that gets turned on when a specific action is done. This is not a theory, so it is fine for anyone to use it.
Sugar's devil fruit seems more like the dream/desire of some kid who never wanted to grow up and wanted everyone to play with her than some nefarious slave master.
I like the idea that the toy fruit was created by the desire of some lonely child who wanted to have more friends, and wanted to stay a child for ever, maybe a Peter Pan-like figure. Their desire was twisted into something harmful, but the intent probably wasn't evil.
11:26 I could see a kid thinking that fruit was a good idea. Maybe their parents were gone alot so they needed a way to make people play with them. The fruit is definitely either super malicious or a kid made it without being aware of the consequences.
I personally would have included robin in the demon possession category. Her countless dark sayings and humor, being called the demon child and that crazy demon form transformation she used in wano

There's something kind of hilarious that there are just people in the One Piece universe that are possessed demons and no one's doing anything about it. "Oh, you're the Demon King? Literally? How nice for you!"
Pika's devil fruit would probably have that bridge built in a year as long as they had enough stone to supply him for its construction but theoretically he'd be able to just keep pulling it from the earth.
I think some of the powers evolve overtime. For instance the hobby fruit the progenitor probably just wished they could play with mommy and daddy the way they do with their dolls, then another user just wanted to play like a kid forever and ever, etc.

Rather than becoming darkness, he became a god of darkness. All the different races in the One Piece world are the result of the original devil fruit users having children and passing on mutant traits. the world government banished the mutants to distant islands, restricted access to devil fruits as tightly as possible, and enacted a global conspiracy to cover it up (the void century). A few more benign mutants passed under the radar, and that's why we have 20 foot tall humans, humans with horns, and humans with sharp teeth.

Then on elbaf she wants to join the crew so one of the remaining satellites reprograms her to remove the order hierarchy and give her free will (or something like that) Theres like no chance this will ever happen but itd be a really cool way to see how the seraphim grow. I still think bonney is a guaranteed member of the crew though
8:40 I could see this being a very long term version of Nami's deal with Arlong. The Celestial Dragon's agreed that a certain nations sins would be forgiven if they could build this bridge, but I could totally see the WG destroying said bridge when the bridge was close to being finished. Edit: Well, guess I should have finished the video lol. Side note, I think that Sugar's DF could have an innocent creation, if we are assuming that Devil Fruits literally spawned from the dreams of people (such as the people of the Ancient Kingdom). I could totally see a little girl wanting the ability to make people into toys so that she can play with them, but kids being kids she doesn't want the toys to be able to disobey her and doesn't understand the ramifications of taking away free will like that
Here's my addition to vegapunk's theory what if someone ate a devil fruit and then thought I would like to do this and modified the devil fruit (this can be explained by awakening) or how sugar's fruit could have been originally made by a kid but got modified
In the anime they make it seem like Cavendish only turns when he is sleeping, but if he was fighting for control in the manga that means hes at least slightly aware of something taking over but not entirely what is being done during it.
10:09 he says 'this is only my theory' not 'my only theory' Which would imply that vegapunk isnt sure, but this is his theory he thought up to explain devil fruits
about the bridge, if you ever watched kino no tabi, one kingdom does exactly that form of torture, but instead of a bridge it is a rail road they send one worker to disassemble the parts of the rails away after 5 years they sent another one to align it back together and after 5 years they send another one to assemble the rail again.
With recent revelations it seems to make sense the gorosei and Imu ordered tequila wolf to be built knowing most of the world would end up underwater after they use the ancient weapons for whatever their plan is. Probably why Mariejois is up so high too
I feel like the Hobi Hobi fruit could’ve been also created with innocent intent. I like to imagine a kid who’s wants to stay the same age forever and have all the toys they desire. Maybe they thought that changing people into toys was a fun way to play with their toys, or maybe they wished for their toys to have a conscious of their own and the devil fruit maker, or however exactly they come to existence, decided that the best way of doing that was stealing the lives of other people. The Devil fruits are possible a-morale and just do things that are most efficient.
I think the world flooding is probably the best explenation for the bridge. We used to not have any answer but i think the world flooding is why it exists
I think many devil fruits are actually twisted interpretations of more innocent desires. Like, the hobby-hobby fruit could have formed from a desire to always have someone willing to play their games. Could have just been a lonely child who had trouble making friends. The orders you can give toys comes from the simple act of creating rules for the games you play.
I had already deduced the basic concept of "The Dark Desires Theory" when I first heard about Vegapunk's musings on Devil Fruits being born from desires/wishes. There are indeed Devil Fruits that were born of pure intentioned people with the desire to better the world, just as there were evil people wanting to destroy or enslave the world. The worst case scenario is Devil Fruits born of good intentions being perverted by current users with wicked and dangerous ideas for selfish gain, if not worse.
Hobby-Hobby fruit might be able to be used on inanimate objects, since everything has a voice. So wanting rocks, sticks, and trees to play with you isn't necessarily evil.
Vegapunk did not say he only had one theory. He basically said "but hey don't come at me for this opinion, it's just a theory. I don't know for certain."
If the worlds sea level is rising, it would make sense is Tequilla Wolf was to make more “land” for the nobles. Or a place for them to keep storing their slaves and have farm land.
I heard a theory that Tequila Wolf isn't so much a prison as it is a slave factory. People are born as slaves in Tequila Wolf, and are taken away at some point. And since they have no traceable history being from Tequila Wolf, there's even less hope for them than usual, because nobody in the world has any investment in them specifically. And the ones who outlive their usefulness without dying get sent back to make more slaves and perpetuate the cycle.
Honestly, I think the hobby hobby fruit was probably conjured more innocently than you think. It makes total sense that a child wished for this ability without really comprehending the concept that the toys would be eternal slaves.
one of my theories is that the hobi hobi no mi doesn't turn you into a child that turns people into toy slaves. what i believe it actually does is that it freezes the users age where they are at the point of consumption and gives them powers pertaining to the hobby they had at that point in time. so since sugar was a child playing with toys, having tea parties, making up stories and so on, when she ate the fruit, her power turns people into toys which she could (but not necessarily has to) enslave to do her bidding (this is alsy why people who get turned into toys are forgotten, most toys children get are hand me downs from people who are no longer interested in that toy.) on the other hand if say franky ate the hobi hobi no mi when he was a teenager, he would gain the power to turn one people (or maybe something other than people even) into guns and cannons.
I mean what if Sugar's original fruit creator was just thinking "I wish I could have infinite toys that I could play with forever" and the nature of devil fruits twisted that desire into something bad, kind of like how in fiction when you ask a wish from a devil it ends up being not how you were expecting it.
Well I imagine the old society 800 years ago was a society that made the fruits to their use cases. The ability to become toys is pretty useful if you have to go on long voyages for example other planets.

Now that I think about it, I don't think the existence of souls is actually confirmed. It's like what vegapunk says about devil fruits, you don't even need to think about if souls exist for the powers to work as long as someone dreamed it up
I find it funny that he ignores the demon in the one room of the giant skull castle. You know, robin’s demonic possession? I’d say that would be wrath to protect her friends.
Tequila wolf is actually what Rogers was referring to when he said he was too early for the one piece. Ittle be finished right when Luffy gets to the final island!!
I still love the theory that Imu is the sea devil that shanks mentions in chapter 1. I just feel like it would make such perfect sense, especially if imu using the weapon is the reason the world is sinking
Actually the bridge itself proposes an even worse fate for a Pirate Theme World: Land. Easily defensible and predictable Land. In this world, it's far easier to handle highwaymen than pirates.
I have always thought the D. stood for Dreamer. And that the D. Clan had the ability to manifest their dreams. Either like Luffy/Roger and make their dreams come true themselves, or now that we know Vegapunks theory about DF's literally manifest the power of their dreams as a fruit.

I like these videos. You do a good job.
1:38 Oda foreshadowing Robins demon form (literally looks just like a silhouette of her)
10:09 he says 'this is only my theory' not 'my only theory'
Which would imply that vegapunk isnt sure, but this is his theory he thought up to explain devil fruits
about the bridge, if you ever watched kino no tabi, one kingdom does exactly that form of torture, but instead of a bridge it is a rail road they send one worker to disassemble the parts of the rails away after 5 years they sent another one to align it back together and after 5 years they send another one to assemble the rail again.
Scary theory that'd make you cry every night:
Oda will only give us 25 chapters every year because of the excessive break 😭
Hi Liam i have a question how is a Crew travelling backwards on the grand line only with eternal poses and livre cards?
The dreamer of the Hito Hito no mi just wanted to be a normal person, and now Chopper is living their dream.
With recent revelations it seems to make sense the gorosei and Imu ordered tequila wolf to be built knowing most of the world would end up underwater after they use the ancient weapons for whatever their plan is. Probably why Mariejois is up so high too
its worth noting that during dressrosa its mentioned that the Cavindish is the 2nd person to have Hakuba. the first being Xebec
Release the blue banana podcast!!!! 🔵 Banana 🍌
your theories bring out my deepest desires
On days Liam doesn’t upload, I find myself at a loss of things to watch on TH-cam.
1:45 Tell me that is not Devil form Robin's silhouette behind Zoro
Can't wait to see them at afternoon
Child being "I want to make toys to play with that are alive" seems kinda innocent to me😄
I buy into the Tequila wolf theory, it was one of the things brought to mind that it's being both built and destroyed at the same itme
If the worlds sea level is rising, it would make sense is Tequilla Wolf was to make more “land” for the nobles. Or a place for them to keep storing their slaves and have farm land.
the grim reaper is the Klabautermann of the Pluton I reckon
10:09
Vegapunk didn’t say “This is my ONLY theory!”. He said “This is ONLY my theory!” Just meaning he hasn’t confirmed it to be fact.
Oda keeps on cooking in a nutshell.
The d riding is wild
Big mom throwing it back is DEEPly disturbing
I mean what if Sugar's original fruit creator was just thinking "I wish I could have infinite toys that I could play with forever" and the nature of devil fruits twisted that desire into something bad, kind of like how in fiction when you ask a wish from a devil it ends up being not how you were expecting it.
Well I imagine the old society 800 years ago was a society that made the fruits to their use cases. The ability to become toys is pretty useful if you have to go on long voyages for example other planets.
I love this channel. I love your accent even tho I am Australian and all my friends sound like this it’s just refreshing to have a popular TH-camr with and Australian accent and not the New South Wales one like lazarbeam just the general one and the way you talk is so funny
Now that I think about it, I don't think the existence of souls is actually confirmed. It's like what vegapunk says about devil fruits, you don't even need to think about if souls exist for the powers to work as long as someone dreamed it up
the bridge could be like a second red line to keep the world nobles safe when joyboy destroys their home
I love the 7 deadly sins theory. also I'm thinking about tequila wolf, where the hell do they get all of the stone to build a bridge that massive?
I still love the theory that Imu is the sea devil that shanks mentions in chapter 1. I just feel like it would make such perfect sense, especially if imu using the weapon is the reason the world is sinking
scary theory 4 : pandaman is actually the one piece and keeps an eye on potential pirate king candidates in his free time
Keep up the great work and videos Liam love the video
Actually the bridge itself proposes an even worse fate for a Pirate Theme World:
Land.
Easily defensible and predictable Land.
In this world, it's far easier to handle highwaymen than pirates.
I think we may have already encountered the "Demon of Lust" in One Piece being Nico Robin with a lust for knowledge.
I have always thought the D. stood for Dreamer. And that the D. Clan had the ability to manifest their dreams. Either like Luffy/Roger and make their dreams come true themselves, or now that we know Vegapunks theory about DF's literally manifest the power of their dreams as a fruit.
