I started reading Dr. Strange comics as a teen back in the 60s. I waited 50 years for this movie to be made and it was worth the wait. I saw it in a theatre in 3D when it first came out. Amazing.
I share your comic book experience reading Dr, Strange growing up, although I started in the 70s from old comic books that originally came out in the late 60s drawn by Gene Colan. Later on I started to discover older issues drawn by Steve Ditko. When the movie came out, I just had to get the ultimate experience by seeing it in IMAX 3D and was not disappointed.
There's actually a deleted scene where before Strange meets Mordo, he finds a dog with a broken leg. He creates like a makeshift brace or cast for the dog, which helps Mordo see the good in Strange.
the "I've come to bargain" scene is actually so sick. how he goes "but everyone on earth will live".. it's such a crazy character-defining moment. how he's willing to suffer to keep earth safe.. it's amazing.
“We need House” 😂😂😂 Benedict really reminds me of House when he’s all scruffy and deep talking using his American accent in this and saying all medical terms 😂. They played father and son in an old TV show and House of course is based off Sherlock Holmes.
Brutal fact: Kevin Feige confirmed that the loop time battle beetween Strange and Dormammu was an equivalent of aprox. 50 years. If every rounds have a duration of 10 min aprox then Stephen died like a 2629800 times. But the most brutal of all of this is the fact that everytime he respawned his body was still feeling the pain of his last death, so basically was a eternity of pain and suffering until Dormammu just give up
In case anyone was curious, the Cloak of Levitation was never animate or sentient before or after Strange got it. Comics, animated movies, nothing ever gave the personality it has here, but I honestly think it's a great addition to the Dr. Strange lore, they make good use of it being alive! The behind the scenes reveal its inspiration was mostly from Aladdin's Magic Carpet, which made so much sense once I read that.
They said earlier the relic chooses the sorcerer. When the cloak saw Strange defending the Sanctum after the previous master died, even with weak newbie powers, it decided Strange was worthy.
If you have a good surgeon, they will ask you what type of music you like. My back surgeon asked me how I felt about AC/DC or Metallica. Confused me ask why...and he explained that he likes music while he works. Win-win and I went under to AC/DC and came to with Queen. 😂

1:06:25 Dr. Palmer's final jump scare - screaming when the mop fell over in the closet - was unscripted. The mop and bucket just happened to fall in reaction to the pyrotechnics the filmmakers used to create the lighting effect of the portal and scared the heck out of Rachel McAdams and she screamed. The Director liked the reaction so much he left it in the film.
I love the messages from the film. "It is not all about you" and time is one of the things that makes life precious. Great casting. Fun visuals. Very different from the other Marvel films at least for now.
Wong suggested that people laughed at Strange's jokes because he was their boss. When Wong finally laughs at Strange's joke, Strange has recently technically become his boss. So was it genuine?

Doctors still have to decide things like the life of the mother vs the baby, or who to save in a mass emergency. So there are cases of choosing the larger good. Also, the Hippocratic Oath actually reads "First, do no harm..." but there is more than one rule. You can cut off a limb to save the life, for example. Overall the oath is about choosing the greater good, but being cautious about taking irreversible actions.
Whenever I see Tilda Swinton in a movie, I can't help hearing her voice in my head saying, "You could have shot me, John! You chose a higher path! Look how well you're doing!"

To answer your question about surgeons playing music, I'm a med student and they definitely do! Most even have their own OR playlists that they like to jam out to during surgery lol
Yes Strange was being tortured for years according to Scott Dericson. Strange sacrifice a lot to save everyone. My favorite MCU hero. Benedict Cumberbatch was a perfect casting. Check his BBC Sherlock and the movie “ The Imitation Game” he’s also the dragon in “The Hobbit”. He’s a great actor.
I grew up on the original comics, and with Steve Ditko's crazy worlds and effects I always considered it unfilmable - until this. While I question the wisdom of replacing the Asian Ancient One with a white woman, it's not necessarily a bad decision (he was a stereotype after all). I think this is a great adaptation.
Most surgeons I've worked with like some sort of music. Some are specific about what they want playing, others leave it up to the OR team. Had one surgeon who had an extremely calming playlist that he liked to play and damn that music was hard to stay awake to, especially if we were doing a robotic case. Room goes dark and just this soft calm music playing lol was a nightmare trying to not fall asleep, but the surgeon loved it and worked best with it. Another surgeon, my favorite one, liked having karaoke music playing (and would go to karaoke with his coworkers often). He heard me singing under my breath and said by all means enjoy yourself haha and was determined to find a song that I couldn't sing along to lmao. After I've got the OR set up and ready for surgery, whenever the patient is brought in, I like to ask them what music they like and have that playing for them to go under to. Tends to help patients that are very nervous and at least have that comfort before going to sleep.
Doctor Strange's next big appearance in the MCU (not the upcoming instance with Thor) shoots him up to one of the top players within the MCU; it's jaw-droppingly good how top tier he becomes in that movie.
My surgeon would listen to Led Zeppelin albums when performing surgery. He told me a few times “yesterday was a long surgery for another patient. I listened to Led Zeppelin’s first 3 albums and physical graffiti back to back”
Some surgeons do listen to music. Whatever makes them comfortable. My first job in the OR we had one surgeon that listens to Metallica pretty loud where other nurses hated scrubbing in with him.

To answer your question about hallucinations- I dropped acid when I was 21, 22 (I'm 47 now)- the hallucinations were not like this at all. It was more like seeing things that I knew weren't right, like, I had very short hair, but I looked in a mirror (which they say you shouldn't do on LSD) and saw myself with very long hair and the wrong clothes, that I wasn't wearing. I also took a medication (Levaquin, a strong antibiotic)that gave me hallucinations as a side effect and it was very similar- I sort of saw things overlaid reality, Like a tall bookshelf next to my bed, with books falling out of it, superimposed over the shelf that only came halfway up the wall. The only thing that made me see images like this movie was the time when I ate a weed edible and hallucinated colorful, tiled/prismatic tunnels, and I was zooming through them, but they never ended (it was very strong, later we found the normal dose was a quarter of the cookie, I ate the whole cookie). Just spiraling through tiled-looking, colorful tunnels that never ended. I could only squeeze my eyes shut and hang on. Be careful with those edibles, kids!
When I first watched this film, I got so motion sick 😅 But then in 2020 I was in a car wreck and had metal placed in my hand. The loss of autonomy was so rough, I started to understand Dr. Strange so much more.
When Doctor strange is driving really fast and they're talking about the Air Force Colonel with the lower spine injury and he's not interested... They were talking about Rhodey after he got hurt/fell out of the sky in civil war.
The special effects of Dr. Strange in the "trippy world" shown to him by The Ancient One was based on illustrations in the Marvel comic books that were drawn by artist Steve Ditko, and later by artist Gene Colan. They provided the basis for the visuals for dimensions and worlds beyond our reality. They were still very limited by the 2 dimensional print format to really bring that imaginary world to life so the visual artists for the MCU came up with their own version and expanded on it with cinematic technology. Whether their work was inspired by recreational chemistry has never been discussed, at least as far as I am aware of.
9:30 I looked over on the IMDB site and yes these scenes were filmed in Kathmandu, Nepal. While Hong Kong street 40:02 was created on a London soundstage. The set was 570 feet long and included 80 neon signs and 35 storefronts.
The word "Shamballa" umm the wifi password is actually a reference to the Hindu and Buddhist text... In hinduism it is said that the last avatar of Lord Vishnu which is 'Kalki' will be born in the place called "Shamballa" Even in Buddhist text it is said that the place Shamballa is in the himalayas no one can see that city without the divine energy that city is filled with people of immense knowledge.. There is a movie Nick in Indian cinema which recently released and did so well in the Indian Cinema called "Kalki 2898AD" You can watch that it's the first part of trilogy and the vfx are quite good not the best but better to match the level of Mad max.. it's actually kind of mad max but totally based on HIndu text with some modern interpretations you will love it even Quynh can watch it with you.. Btw in HIndiuism there is no possiblity where you can't deny the teachings.. Hinduism has so many paths to follow even an atheist who doesn't believe in god but wants to find the real meaning can become a Hindu.. The only thing that we believe upon is Karma... We say you should respect your teacher or guru what he is teaching but there are some students like Kaicilius who rejects the teaching and think of themselves are they are ready to take upon the world then even guru release him from his shadow but that doesnt mean the guru will not protect the world or any person who is going to get harmed by that reckless student.. obviously the student's karma was to bring chaos but guru's karma is to restore order... But yes once you surrender yourself to a guru then don't ask question because this is where you will get all your answer a soul can't reach to it's goal without getting all theanswers... there is a very thin line people don't understand about they just take it as heads or tails... Either this or that..no... Even if you reject the god's teaching by saying that I don't believe in you I will go aroudn and find my answer it's okay you can do that no god is gonna punish you.. But when you roam around met every scholar met every guru in the world and they are leading you to the same path it means that your EGO is coming in front of you to attain the knowledge.. that's when karma comes into play once you realised that the what world is saying about the universe is true but you are blinded by your own ego and still you continue that then karma says that it goes into your own destruction.. You can question everything in Hinduism or Sanatan Dharma, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism all of these are parts of Sanatan Dharma these are different paths to attain the same goal.... Instead of facing this question that why are these paths are now different and not in under one umbrella start questioning which path is favourable for me.. You believe in warrior and charity go to sikhism you believe in non violence and compassion go to jainism you believe in kindness and inner health of your soul and body go to Buddhism but if you want all of that come to Hinduism.. Just don't exploit any path of knowledge that's it..

Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One) and Chris Evans (Capt. America) are in a really good Action/Sci-fi movie called Snowpiercer. I can not recommend it enough.
I think that the Ancient One's decision to use forbidden powers may have been heavily influenced by being able to see the possibilities ahead. It seems like she's known for a while when she would die; and that could turn into a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy. She does it because she knew that she was going to.

Ah, I can answer some of your hallucinogen questions (being of an age to have had a “mis-spent” youth (cough) to reflect upon). To the question LSD, Psilocybin, Mescaline-no, not like that. Some aspects, perhaps. As I understand it, not ecstasy (MDMT) either. Possibly the depersonalization drug DMT as I’ve read descriptions that are eerily similar to some of the imagery shown in the movie (I’ve no experience with the latter two drugs-I don’t believe they existed way back then). But we’re talking more than fifty years ago! About the movie’s cosmology: I think there’s a difference between siphoning power from the multiverse to fuel sorcery-and selectively tunneling in for a specific, dangerous power for unimpeachable reasons-in contrast with cutting a deal with the ruling entity of that dark universe and selling out your world (and all six billion lives) as payment. It was a kind of take on karma: karma is inevitable, bold face, full stop. She knew the circumstances of her death, the who and the what-she knew Strange was involved-just not the when. By implication, when he showed up at her doorstep she had to know the end was coming. Although necessary for Strange to advance I was sorry to see her go-she was a great character, and a pity she’s lost to the MCU.
Hey Nick so in a couple of weeks you guys will finish phase 3, idk if you know the full phase 4 list since it also includes TV shows, I'll gladly write it down as you get closer to it

Poor Quynh. She’s been through a lot of jump scares in this.
@@williambryan3346 I've been wondering how she spells it I've just been commenting with a pronoun since iron man 1 lmao I appreciate someone knowing, didn't wanna get it wrong.
@@Kitishere12Sometimes it comes onscreen when Nick introduces her
One of my favorite Marvel Films, I was just blown away by the visuals. Doctor Strange is definitely my favorite Marvel hero
Another awesome reaction thanks!
When I first watched this film, I got so motion sick 😅 But then in 2020 I was in a car wreck and had metal placed in my hand. The loss of autonomy was so rough, I started to understand Dr. Strange so much more.
9:32 yes, the location is real. there's bts where you can see benedict and the director with the crew filming in the city ;)
Wong is one of the best characters in the MCU.
This is one of my favorite Marvel movies.
When Doctor strange is driving really fast and they're talking about the Air Force Colonel with the lower spine injury and he's not interested... They were talking about Rhodey after he got hurt/fell out of the sky in civil war.
Nope
Rhodey came to the future?
I was introduced to Dr Strange in Marvel vs Capcom 3 and also a reference from Spider-Man 2. Dr Strange 2016 movie is a gem.
My spinal doctor, a young doctor of 30, plays the tunes in the operating room.
14:15 Quynh picking the hair off Nick is so sweet, they're a damn cute couple 😍
9:30 I looked over on the IMDB site and yes these scenes were filmed in Kathmandu, Nepal.
While Hong Kong street 40:02 was created on a London soundstage. The set was 570 feet long and included 80 neon signs and 35 storefronts.
- It looks like the patient's astral body is wounded, I need to repair it.
- You are strange doctor.
So excited for you to meet best Marvel character…Cloak.
Dagger: "What am I a joke to you?"
Inception on steriods is a good description lol
So after all that, you ended up at…
Be Excellent to Each Other?
I knew it, Bill & Ted are the future.
@@c1ph3rpunk i know someone would say that but buddy please go and read history.. all that knowledge was burnt which was in the Nalanda University by who? A Muslim king who can't tolerate the knowledge of hindus, Buddhists and other religions he was Bhaktiyar khilji go and read about Nalanda University and see for how many days it was burning... There was so much knowledge do you know the game that you play Sun wukong? The traveller who was travelling actually came to this university where he was inspired by the Lord Hanuman and give this character this type of persona

Finally, I was waiting for you guys to react to this movie! And a great reaction too. A lot of fun to watch.
1:54 is so funny when you think about the fact Mads Mikkelsen played Hannibal Lecter lmao
Stan Lee is reading Aldous Huxley's ‘The Doors of Perception’
Yes the scenes in Nepal were actually shot on site.
There's a Batman villain named Dr. Strange as well
Hugo Strange, and he usually manipulates Arkham inmates to prevent them from getting better
I think they call him Professor instead of doctor, but I think they just call him Hugo Strange or just Strange.
The first Dr. Strange movie was a fav....prior to this one.
Great reaction - I enjoyed this movie more than I thought would - and I can never get enough of Tilda Swinton! This was fantastic in 3D 😉
Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One) and Chris Evans (Capt. America) are in a really good Action/Sci-fi movie called Snowpiercer. I can not recommend it enough.
I saw it in 3D and it was amazing. Mind blowing fun.
I think that the Ancient One's decision to use forbidden powers may have been heavily influenced by being able to see the possibilities ahead. It seems like she's known for a while when she would die; and that could turn into a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy. She does it because she knew that she was going to.
When I was on the operating table and they were prepping me for surgery, they had music playing.
i swear quayinh is getting prettier each video (respectfully nick 😂)
i really liked doctor strange i feel like it didn't quite get the love it should of. the ending is great doctors strange beats the villain by trolling him. consider this we don't know how many thosuands maybe even millions of times strange had to die excruciatingly before dormammu finally cracked
Her makeup is extremely flattering 😎

11:53 LOVED THE COMMENT!
surgeons really play music during a procedure as long as it’s not too complicated, i asked the same question to my cousin who is a doctor 😂
Hey Nick so in a couple of weeks you guys will finish phase 3, idk if you know the full phase 4 list since it also includes TV shows, I'll gladly write it down as you get closer to it
I would really like them to see some X-Men before they embark on phase 4, because of reasons.
My favorite one ❤
Dr. Strange is my favorite MCU movie
Dr. Strange is my favorite MCU character
Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange is absolutely perfect
One of the best Mcu movies
only trip that could be compared to is DMT and thats a stretch because dmt is pretty indescribable
One of the bets origin MCU movies alongside Iron Man ! I've watched this soo many times :)
A personal favorite of mine Before Movies
Your girlfriend heard that 👍🏿
48:34 Throughout the MCU there are these...unfortunate post-credit scenes that never get paid off due to lack of foresight on the part of the studio. This just makes them comical in hindsight.
Unfortunate that MOM turned out the way it did. It was very telling when Scott Derrickson dropped out. Tells you everything you need to know about how controlling Marvel and Kevin Feige are nowadays
@@mikenadj.j4355 Ikr? I'm sick of these soulless cameo train team-up films with no arc for the titular character. The new films could be so much better if they just stuck with the original directors' visions.
The tony robbins comment 😂

Bachelor's Degree didn't prove Doctor Strange wrong at all. Doctor Strange asked if physiotherapy had ever healed someone with such extensive damage. BA's "proof" that it had was a guy who quit physiotherapy and ended up being healed another way.
Dormammu, I've come to bargain.
