The script of the Wakandan language (that morph into English titles) is a real-world alphabet called Tifinagh. It’s used by the Berber (Amazigh) and Touareg peoples in northwest Africa. When I saw this in the theater with my Algerian ex-wife, we spotted it at the same time and immediately started jogging elbows like “Did you see that???”😄😂

The scene about whether they are loyal to their country by following their king vs doing what is best for their own people, even if it goes against what their king says, feels way too relevant. The message here is to always be loyal to the county's people first, because if the leader is also loyal to them, then there is no conflict of interest.
The nephew who took over (sorry I forgot names) was following their rules but he didn't have any loyalty to Wakanda's people.
That said, I agree that his motives are the most interesting for a villain, even if his actions are deplorable. He is the villain Wakanda created.

This movie holds a special place in my heart. Before it came out, I had a dream similar to T'Challa going to the ancestral plane. I was walking in a park and I saw my grandfather walking down on steps from the Heaven. We embraced while I was telling him how sorry I was for not being there to say goodbye. He simply smiled and told me that it doesn't matter and he'll always love and watch over me. I watched him walk back to heaven before I woke up crying. The Ancestral Plane scene always makes me cry because of this. Black Panther has been brought to shows and games before, but Chadwick is the one who brought the character to life. To hear that he has passed was a shocker. Chadwick will still be getting his star in the walk of fame and it's well deserved. RIP to my grandfather, to Chadwick, and of course another legend...Stan Lee. Wakanda Forever!

As a South African this movie is so sentimental to me🥹 not just because they speak isiXhosa and all the South African actors they have in it but also the subtle history eater eggs they have throughout the movie. My favourite one is when killmonger breaks the spear to make it shorter which is a strategy that was developed by the iconic Shaka Zulu, king of the Zulu kingdom during the war as a more efficient way to kill his enemies.
Anyway long over due reaction but worth the wait ❤

When T'Challa asks Zuri what happened to the child, Zuri says they left him behind because they had to "preserve the lie". At the time, Wakanda was still hiding in plain sight, and in that sense Killmonger is a monster of their own creation.

10:50 It was implied that- due to his age - King T'Chaka had turned the mantle of Black Panther over to his son T'Challa several years before the events of Civil War. (You may not have noticed, but both T'Chaka and the actor who plays him have a glass eye, so it can be assumed that was a contributing factor to him turning over the mantle.) But as long as T'Chaka was alive he remained King of Wakanda. The ritual battle was for the throne, not necessarily the mantle of Black Panther. The fact the Wakandans have an antidote to the powered imbued by the Heart-Shaped herb implies this passing of the mantle has happened before.

@1:04:50 -- the challenge for the throne might not be open to just anyone. it might be open only to members of the ruling families, which would explain why killmonger brandished his father's royal ring to stake his claim. if the challenge is open to any wakandan, then killmonger's lip tattoo alone would've sufficed.

This and Spiderman Homecoming are my fave marvel films because the villain’s motivations are heartbreakingly believable. I remember my first time watching both, and *wanting* Killmonger and Toomes to get vindication, justice, or respect. Because they’re both right! The world is full of injustice and hate and I can’t blame them for wanting to fight back. But they let revenge take over, without thinking of how to rebuild and heal and grow, and it blinds them to their eventual downfall.
Rest in Peace Chadwick Boseman. One of the best actors in recent cinema.

T’Challa took on the mantle of Black Panther some time before T’Chaka died actually. He would have acted as an extension of his father’s will once his father got too old to bare the title from a physical perspective. It’s why the first suit he has through out Civil War up to the first couple of minutes in this film is as he says, his own design. The mantle is just the king’s to bear if he is able and willing or to share with anyone of their choosing I believe.

Yes the contrast between M'baku and Erik is striking but similar, both want the throne and for semi-noble purposes on the outside but one truly wants it with what he believes is in Wakanda's best interest and that is M'Baku, he challenged T'Challa using the appropriate traditions not out of hatred toward T'CHalla but out of a belief that the Golden Tribe had ruled long enough and were failing as leaders, he is not entirely wrong in that belief. N'Jadaka hated T'Challa, and Wakanda and hated the World too, he was hurt with no way he saw other than to make all others feel his pain.

Ooof, it’s tough watching T’challa say these beautiful things with the world we live in. I believe strongly in the good and decency of people and the world but there is so much division and injustice, especially now. And a world where beautiful people like Chadwick are no longer with us makes it seem all the more unfair. T’Challa for example was already acting as the Black Panther while his father was still King (hence his ability to make that jump to try to save his father during the bombing in Civil War). Could be wrong, but IMO, the mistake T'Chaka made was killing N'Jobu. Not because he's his brother, but he ought to have disabled him, then taken him back to Wakanda to face what he had done. T'Chaka was shortsighted. Who knows how N'Jadaka would have turned out, but I doubt he would have become Erik Killmonger Stevens. He could have at least grown up with T'Challa, W'Kabi, etc., plus the privileges & influence of living in Wakanda. The healing tech that treated Bucky could have helped N'Jadaka deal with trauma, at least. It looked like W'Kabi could have benefitted from treatment when young as well.
    Love M'Baku.

    About W'Kabi (Okoye's husband)
Later in the MCU, it's made clear that he was imprisoned after the events of Black Panther
    1:09:55
yea I've also always disliked W'Kabi's switch up on T'Challa and everyone else
I mean, I guess even in Wakanda, there's gonna be some uhh... backstabbing, snakey, a-hole-ish type ppl (I don't really know how to describe him tbh, I'm not good with negative descriptors lol
But when I think about it, I can almost understand as I've recently witnessed something similar in my life: sometimes knowing people, and having long relations with them, is exactly the fuel that eventually burns the relationship down
Any arguments that were never resolved; expectations that were never met and etc only add to the resentfulness of a person once things get to a very bad place-- or atleast, so I've seen recently
For W'Kabi, the only thing grievance he had towards the Elders and the past King was that they never brought Klaue (I forgot how to spell his name oof) to justice, but realistically, there were might have been other experiences he had that facilitated his betrayal
Or maybe he was just a shallow jerk character lol
    Unfortunate

For me the real villain is Killmonger's father, he is the one who betrayed Wakanda, knowing very well their ways of living and their reason to hide. Tchaka was not going to kill him, but he fought and tried to kill Zuri. If they took him back, how were they were they going to explain his father's disappearance. Tchaka was at fault as much as N'jobu

Trilith Studios, near Atlanta, has been used for many MCU films including this one. Atlanta is about 50% black. To show how far there is still to go in racial equality, Ryan Coogler, the director of the film, was arrested for "banking while black" in Atlanta. One of the suppliers for the film would only take cash, so Coogler went to take $10,000 out of his own account to pay them. The teller thought it was some kind of scam, so she pushed the button to summon the police, and Coogler was arrested and put in a police car until they could straighten things out.

Still miss Chadwick to this day. He would be one of if not the face of the MCU today. It really does suck. Really hoping after secret wars they recast T’Challa and continue the legacy.

It has been well documented and said multiple times by Kevin Fiege that the original plan after End Game was to build around the new trilogy of T'Challa, Peter & Carol. I hope that isn't a spoiler. If it is I apologize. But the point is after Chad's death, they made the decisions that they did (you know the ones) and pivoted to the idea of moving the good doctor into that slot in the trilogy. We all know how that turned out. 😅
It was a very avoidable situation. The decisions they made ran the train off the tracks. It wasn't Chadwick. That's all I am going to say on that.

I wanted to share an idea for *Black Panther 3* or *Black Panther 4* that I think could be incredible, especially if Damson Idris were cast as T'Challa Jr.
Damson Idris is 32 years old, 6'1", and of Nigerian descent-he’d be a perfect fit to play T'Challa Jr. in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His recent performance in *Snowfall* shows he has the intensity and emotional range needed for such a role. Additionally, there’s an interesting coincidence here: Damson’s *Snowfall* character, Franklin Saint, was born and raised in South Los Angeles, while Michael B. Jordan’s Erik "Killmonger" Stevens was born and raised in Oakland, California. "Coincidence?" (in the words of the teacher from *The Incredibles*) “I think not!” #MarvelGotMoney
Imagine if some of the brilliant writers and directors from *Snowfall* collaborated with Ryan Coogler and the Marvel team. It could add new layers to T'Challa's storyline and bring fresh perspectives to his character.
In terms of storyline, Damson could truly capture the complex emotions of T'Challa Jr.-a young man dealing with the loss of his father and being raised by his mother. It could follow a theme similar to *The Lion King* but with a unique Marvel twist.
*Black Panther: Wakanda Forever* introduced us to T'Challa and Nakia’s son, Toussaint, who has been raised in secret, setting the stage for his development. If Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger is brought back from the Ancestral Plane, it would be powerful to see T'Challa Jr. encounter him. The Ancestral Plane is where past Wakandan rulers’ spirits reside, allowing the living to seek their guidance through the heart-shaped herb. When Shuri went under to connect with her ancestors, hoping to see her mother, she instead saw Killmonger. A similar encounter between T'Challa Jr. and Killmonger could be symbolic, bridging past conflicts and offering T'Challa Jr. wisdom as he steps into his role.
Additionally, just imagine if characters like Leon, Louie, Uncle Jerome, Teddy, Gustavo, and Cissy from *Snowfall* could be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They could bring a fresh, unique dynamic to the MCU, attracting a new audience.
Ryan Coogler has previously compared T'Challa and Killmonger to Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. Continuing this narrative with T'Challa Jr. and Killmonger could explore themes of nobility, understanding loss, being for the people, becoming a symbol, and taking action. Damson’s portrayal of T'Challa Jr. (a parallel to MLK Jr.) would be an excellent fit for this storyline.
This could also be the perfect time to introduce mutants into the MCU. Casting Chloe Bailey as Storm would be a great choice, especially since she and Damson worked together on *Swarm*. In the comics, Storm and T'Challa have children, and adding Denzel Washington as the Panther Goddess Bast-either as a voice or in an astral/human form in the Ancestral Plane-could add even more depth to the story.
Thanks for considering this idea! I’m excited about the potential future of T'Challa Jr. and the Black Panther legacy

Killmonger is a “villain” who has all of the right motives but goes about it the wrong way. If he hadn’t murdered so many while trying to accomplish his goal everyone would be on his side. Even T’challa changed his view of the isolation and Nationalism to do as Killmonger wanted.

This movie hit hard originally but once you realize Wakanda had all the means and technology to stop the rest of Africa from being enslaved and they did nothing about it, the whole story starts to not make any sense.....

    • @ekg891
      @ekg891 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

It still makes sense. the reason Africa was in that situation was because they had resources. Of course you would see that and see it's safer to act like you have nothing to keep from having to constantly be in conflict with others, because then they would constantly be wanting to find ways to do the same to wakanda by getting hands on vibranium. So the whole story still makes complete sense.

Black Panther is the protector of Wakanda.
King or Queen of Wakanda is the ruler title either passed down from the previous ruler to their heir or won by someone put forth by one of the original 5 tribes that formed Wakanda to challenge through the combat ritual.
They do not have to be the same person. There have been a number of times in the comics where T'Challa is Black Panther but the ruler of Wakanda was someone else. But yes, usually it is the same person, T'Challa as both. With that I will stop because I will get spoilery and also start to point out the blunders they have made with the MCU Black Panther mythos.

Killmonger took too much joy in his revenge. His father was not about sharing Wakanda's secret with the world and neither was Killmonger. HIs father wanted power; he was essentially an arms dealer doing what he did to empower himsel and not for altruistic purposes.
Killmonger wanted payback and power. He didn't want to share with the world; he wanted to destroy the world. If his father had not been killed, he would have raised Killmonger to be what he became, That is why the child should have been brought back to Wakanda. Maybe that influence might have overcome what his father had instilled in him. That is the tragedy, placing the sins of the father on the son.
Now you have to see Wakanda Forever which not only honors Chadwick Bowman but also shows us what happens when Wakanda's secret is no longer secret.
