my two favourite MCU reactors. they watch and react to these films with little expectation, much enthusiasm and the maturity of a parent who knows it's just entertainment at the end of the day. that's what i love about these two
we appreciate that! seriously! in a world of some really mean comments this one is going to be the one i read to smile through the negative ones! thank you for that!
You hear true-blue MCU fans bemoan the fact that we can never go back & experience this stuff for the 1st time ever again. . .& it’s true! Yet, I’ve found with two channels: *_The OCTOBERS_* & *_The Perfect Mix_* -> watching honest, organic first-timers watch it with no prior knowledge, no idea what’s coming, no trailers, no previews, nothing - it’s almost like experiencing it again for the 1st time. It’s as close as we can get & I love ‘em for it! #RespectToTheOctobers
I'm retired from being a neurosurgeon's assistant. Cumberbatch nailed the operating room scene. Dr. Strange's arrogance (a common thing with neurosurgeons) always gets commented on but I heard an interesting take from a general surgeon who said they have to be that way to have balls to dig into people's brains. But there are some cool ones.
i’m not gonna lie i had ankle surgery (not close to the same thing) but just their ability to operate on something and then live normal is hard for me bc i am so nauseous! i think y’all are so mentally tough and i applaud you! maybe it’s easier than i anticipated but for me i think that you guys are built different! congrats on retiring though! i hope you are enjoying it 😊
It is absolutely crazy to think how we're all created for different tasks that take a different mental makeup and talent to excel at. I can only wonder how many 'mistakes' it takes for a guy like Strange to get so good at what he does. You have to have the mind to turn it off and move on.
Although the one thing they always get wrong - not just in this movie, but in LOTS of movies and TV shows with hospital emergency room scenes: defibrillator paddles do not just magically cause peoples' hearts to start beating again when they've stopped. They are for defibrillation - when the heart is still beating, but the chambers are not synchronized correctly, so that blood can't flow. They have to follow that regular beating pattern to work right. That's what the defibrillator does - it gets the chambers of the heart back into rhythm. If your heart stops completely and you're flatlining, the paddles won't help you. That's what you need CPR for.
He wasn’t seeing possible outcomes. He was literally dying and reliving the same moment in a loop over and over. So every time he was killed it actually happened in reality. And according to the directors it happened thousands of times before dormamu gave up from annoyance. Lol
It really shows how much Strange has grown as a person…willing to subject himself to thousands of violent deaths for centuries just to keep everyone else on earth safe.
@@MrGeoff-iv6re Doctor Strange was always a man of absolute stubborness and high will power. It is just that he channelized his stubborness and will power from being all about himself to about protection of others.
In case you didn't know, Benedict Cumberbatch not only played Dr. Strange but was also the voice of Dormamu in this movie. He has done voice acting before and if you haven't seen the Hobit trilogy yet keep in my mind he voices the character of Smaug when you meet that character.
I'm a retired Grandfather of 9 and great grandfather of 6, you guys are 2 of my favorite reactors and make me happy watching your channel. please keep them coming. Peace out ✌😎
You two pointed out that Dr. Strange is a lot like a medical version of Tony Stark. You nailed it. Somewhere, some casters or producers must have picked up on something similar because both actors have also portrayed the infinitely arrogant and confident Sherlock Holmes, Benedict Cumberbatch in the British show Sherlock, and Robert Downey Jr. in the two Sherlock Holmes movies of 2009 and 2011. I haven't seen many of the episodes of Sherlock, but what I have seen has been very entertaining, and the RDJ Sherlock Holmes movies were great if you ever feel the desire to watch them.
I love how you guys caught the reference to Rhodey breaking his back when Dr Strange was in the car. (EDIT: I stand corrected, I didn’t think about the timeline before making this comment. But it’s still a reference to another MCU film, and I’m just glad they’re catching references in the dialogue. I will leave the mistake for others to see 😂) These films have SO many of those types of little cross-movie references in them. Some of them play a big part in how the films and characters evolve in the end. The more you watch the films, the more you catch those references. It’s seriously crazy how well they weaved all these films and characters together! Also, if you read the comics, you’d be amazed at how good the casting is for these films. The way they look, talk, and act is so close to the way the characters are in the comics. There is just so much magic and emotional gratification in these films. They took so much care in the writing, casting, special effects and overall execution of these films that they’re nothing short of masterful in my opinion. I can’t go on enough about how entertaining and rewarding these films were to those of us that grew up loving the characters and dreaming about the day they’d be able to make good comic films. And I think you guys do a great job reacting. Keep it up and best wishes!
Actually, they were referencing the test pilot for HAMMER Indusrties test pilot at their attempt of an Iron Man suit. That scene is set way before Civil War.
@@orlandoawilliams799 thanks to both of you for clarifying. Still, it’s a reference, and I like to see that they’re catching things in the dialogue. ✌️
That scene at 35:14 wasn't planned. The broom fell on accident and scared the shit out of Rachel McAdams and they decided to leave it in because it fit so well.
Doctor Strange is one of the top 5 most powerful mystical heroes in all of marvel comics, Master of Numerous Mystic Spells, Incantation, Enchantments, Hexes, Curses, and Uses Relic sometime to aid him in battle, basically the guy can do whatever he wants but some magics come at a cost whether small or big. So movie wise he is seriously nerfed like other powerful characters in the MCU ex. Hulk
_SO, HERE WE GO, FRIENDS! -_ *The interdimensional, parallel reality, space-time continuum, alternate existence multiverse explanation:* The fundamental idea is that there is an infinite number of universes (just like ours); many of which have alternate versions of people & things from our very own. I’m an engineer on earth. In another universe, I’m still me. . .just as a cowboy. In another, it’s me again. . .but I’m an OnlyFans model. If I met myself in any of these other universes, yeah - we’d be really different from one another. . .but also really, really the same, fundamental person at our core. Oftentimes, when that happens in these stories/movies, each one draws a little knowledge or experience or power from the other when they meet & use it back home in their own universe: In Jet Li’s *_”THE ONE”,_* there were 125 different versions of himself in the different multiverse universes & everytime one of them died (or were killed by the villain), he (& the remaining versions of himself) got exponentially stronger. When it was down to the final 2, they were basically superheroes & no one on earth could understand how he was able to do the things he did. In Marvel’s *_AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.,_* ((no spoilers)) - there is a similar storyline that emerges at some point. In Marvel’s *SPIDERMAN: INTO THE MULTIVERSE,* similar action. In *_DOCTOR STRANGE,_* the masters are simply tapping into those other universes & drawing upon its “energies” to become more powerful “superhero” types on earth. It would be like if you were going to race someone and, b/c I’m not racing at the moment, I let you use my car engine, too; attach my car engine to your car engine so that you’re now twice as powerful and twice as fast. What if you could tap into 10 car’s engine power for your next race? 20 cars? You’d be able to travel at the speed of light soon😅So, that’s basically what they’re doing - just borrowing energy, power, etc from all these different alternate universes at once. . .to the extent that they can fold matter, manipulate space & alter time. If that just made you more confused, my bad🤦🏽♂️😅
I grew up on Dr. Strange comics so I was actually excited when I found out this was being made. It’s fun with cool concepts and the visuals are tremendous 🤘🏽
@@TheOctobersReact I mean depending what era you’re comparing it to cause some were very dark and gritty. Dormammu and Mordo look different in the comics but I have no problem with that. Besides that Benedict and the sorcerery visuals are pretty damn accurate.
53:00 The Ancient One pretty much touched on the answer to your question when she was explaining things at the start of Dr. Strange's teaching. (17:44) Long story short, they are all powerful magicians who cast actual spells. The fact that Strange has a photographic memory means he can memorize a vast pool of spells and the incantations required to pull them off. In the comics Strange will either scream these out in text bubbles or say them to himself in thought bubbles. We can assume he chants these in his head in the MCU. So each one of these are a different spell that was cast in the movie. Assume he said a quick rhymie poem in his head before all this.... Sling Ring Portal - Creation of portals to any place you visualize in your mind. (20:18, 22:20, 35:08) Ruby Rings of Raggadorr - Manifested energy in the form of mandalas used as either shields (28:23) or projectiles (2:36) Astral Projection - Your life force paranormally active and attentive while your physical body is in a state of inactivity. (22:30) Mirror Dimension - The casting of a parallel dimension that mimics the surroundings of the area where the spell is cast. Normally, only the sorcerer who casts the Mirror Dimension can alter the surroundings within it. But Kaecilius became able to alter things both outside of the Mirror Dimension and inside of it after submitting to Dormammu. Lastly there's The Time Stone. With it, you are OP from a time perspective. Think of something time related you'd want to do and you can do it.
The way they portrayed the visuals in the comics can be summed up in two words: Steve Ditko. He was an amazing artist and his 60s and 70s Strange Tales and Doctor Strange comics were trippy and beautiful. They nailed it in this movie.
This film was off the hook in the theater. I went with a friend who did not even speak English and she was so engaged in what was going on. It was so trippy on the big screen. Top tier marvel movie in my opinion. Love the reaction. Keep em rolling. It's almost October. 🔥💯
5:57 Not Rhodey. Caller said "experimental armor" This timeline set during Ironman 2 and the guy is the test pilot for Hammer Industry. You know, during the start at the court in the big tv where Hammer attempt to make a suit but turned almost 180° and Hammer said the test pilot live
This is a pretty cool movie. And it’s my best friend’s favorite movie in the MCU. I especially love how Dr. Strange saves the day when dealing with Dormammu. Self sacrifice and being clever about it. It’s amazing.
I wanted Doctor Strange to be trapped in that time loop for hundreds even thousands of times and so that he could train in defensive and offensive spells for real... you know he was dying each time. It would have been a valuable time, decades of practical experience. Maybe it did happen and we just didn't see it.
nice ! It's more of a sacrifice when he's not sure it will work and that he willingly goes to trap Dormammu and to face death over and over for an undetermined length of time. The movie went through it too fast. I think he actually said "pain is an old friend..."
The Doors Of Perception was written by Brave New World author Aldous Huxley and was published in 1954. It's a non-fiction look at Huxley's experiments with the psychedelic mescaline, recounting his visions while on the drug and how it impacted his views on art and psychology.
FUN FACTS: This film marks the first time the (now famous) Marvel opening credits are used. From now on, be sure to notice the revolving heroes & scenes they add-on, as well as the various color schemes of the Marvel Studios logo at the end.
I am so happy you're about to start Agents of Shield cant wait for those reactions. One of the rare shows that gets better as it goes and sticks the landing, most shows fall off after the first couple of seasons
Yes it's called the Time Stone, we were told in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron that there are 6 Infinity Stones out in the universe. We've seen 5 so far: The blue one (Space Stone), The yellow one (Mind Stone), The red one (Reality Stone), the purple one (Power Stone) and the green one (Time Stone). There's 1 more stone left which I will not say
You were right, the Eye Of Agamotto is the Time Stone. There are 6 Infinity Stones in total - Vision has the Mind Stone, the Guardians left the Power Stone with the Nova Corp on Xandar, the Space Stone (the Tesseract) is on Asgard in Odin's vault, and the Reality Stone (the Aether) was left with the Collector on Knowhere by the Asgardians at the end of Thor: The Dark World. The only stone we haven't seen yet is the Soul Stone.
you are kind of towing the line on giving away spoilers aren't ya.... I know not necessarily, but they will learn these facts as they continue to watch. The only reason you know all of these things is because you have seen it all already...Right? So please don't spoil anything for them, that's all I'm asking. No disrespect intended.
@@jccurtis9431 don't worry, I know there's disrespect intended. I tried to be careful with my initial comment and not mention anything that hasn't already been established in previous movies, although reading my comment back I'm not sure if the 6th Infinity Stone has been mentioned by name yet, so my bad if that's the case.
If you guys have already seen "The Exorcist," as a follow-up in the genre you'll want to watch "Constantine." While they're different, this movie reminds me of that for you. As for the comics, you'll find the origin of Dr. Strange a bit different, but also similar to this movie representation. They actually made a great attempt in the movie to replicate the portrayal of magic in the comics, but Ditko's graphic imagination is really hard to duplicate, so they added some FX that are clearly capitalizing on what is easier to do digitally, like the city bending FX and fractals. As for dimensional manipulation, I don't think there's much there you need to understand. It's basically just traditional magic spells. However, if you imagine that there are say 8 or 10 dimensions along the nature of space and time, and that we have the ability to move in different directions of space and one direction in time, then if you knew how to manipulate other such "structural" dimensions, you could do all sorts of things ... perceiving and manipulating reality in ways that would seem impossible for someone who doesn't know how to do that. Possibly part of your confusion comes from thinking of dimensions as alternate worlds, planes, or realities, which is of course another valid view on the idea of dimensions. There's both kinds. In the comics, Dormammu is more like the evil Sorcerer Supreme of another reality that has some aspects that are similar to ours, like humanoid inhabitants, but it also integrates space and magic in weird ways. You'd have to see the old comic books to grasp it, probably.
To me, Strange is an even worse version of Tony Stark in his ego and narcissism, but he arguably was humbled even more than Tony as well. Which is a good thing, because he comes out on the other end a better person and much more likeable. The visuals of this movie are still so mind blowing.
@@TheOctobersReact mmhmm. Would they get along because they've both been through life changing moments and are now better people? Or will they argue like children because both are still too proud and have their own thoughts about how things should be done? Hope you guys enjoy the lead up to Infinity War!
dr strange victory against dormammu is the grestest ever... he literally won by trolling the villain hard who knows how many thousands of times and ways dr strange died until dormammu quit
His comics are……stranger. Especially his early ones. The artwork was always a trip and his stories were on the darker side. His magic is better portrayed in later films.
You two are being yourselves while you react to these chapters of a long and unpredictable saga.. and that is why I keep coming back. You are genuine and that is what I love most about you. Dr. Strange uses magic. Though they try to use real science to explain it, it’s not a requirement to enjoy it. This is one of my favorite Marvel movies because of the visual effects and the music, especially the credits music. Octobers, just be yourselves. The best love and respect comes from that. 💕😉👍
Infinity Stones count update! Space Stone (a.k.a The Tesseract a.k.a the blue one): Safe in Asgard. Reality Stone (a.k.a The Aether a.k.a angry red smudge): Still with the Collector. Power Stone (the purple one within the Orb): With the Nova Corps. Mind Stone (little yellow gem initially hidden in Loki's scepter): On Earth, on Vision's forehead. Time Stone (green gem inside Agamotto's Eye): On Earth, with Strange and the other masters of the mystic arts. One to go!
While Tony Stark has always been about science and technology, Dr. Strange has always been about magic. When I was a kid in the 70s reading my brother's Marvel comic collection, Dr. Strange was always one of my favorite titles. The world of magic and other universes has always been very psychedelic, spiritual, and philosophical (it started in the 60s and 70s, so I guess that's not a huge surprise). As a used-to-be comic nerd, I thought the movie did a good job of trying to portray this, but it can be extremely difficult to understand any of it for people coming in cold like the two of you. I thought you did a great job going with the flow; great reaction!
Ahh we've reached Doctor Strange! I knew you would both enjoy it! As far as any confusion goes, it's hard to explain it in full detail in a comment but the barebones you must know is that due to his photographic memory, he is able to learn and use spells quickly and effectively. Many of these spells we saw in the movie - astral projection, "magical" weapon creation, sling ring portals, "defensive" spell shields and of course the use of the mirror dimension. These are just some of many. Of course, the Sorcerer Supreme (in this case the Ancient One) is usually well versed in these spells and their duty (as mentioned in the movie) is to protect the Time Stone as well many world threats. A fun fact as well - Strange was looped with Dormammu for mannyyyyy years even though to those on Earth, only a few minutes passed. During those years he mastered his sorcery powers even more while "fighting" with Dormammu. This is why by the end of this movie (including his interaction with Thor), he's a lot more refined in his knowledge and skill. P.S. - You may know the actress playing the Ancient One from Narnia. She plays the white witch :)
It's the Time stone for sure. It'll play a big part in future movies(along with the other stones ofc). The post credits with Thor is hinting at Ragnarok..that movie is generally considered the best Thor movie...I'm looking forward to y'alls reaction to it
Ahh my marvel friends!! Guys I’m loving the reactions, always great to see you guys together and enjoying each other and the movies! I gotta admit my first time watching this I was questioning if someone had intentionally ruffled me or slipped some lsd into my meal or drink before the movie cause it was out there but my second time watching it I decided it was cool 😂. Like doctor strange I had a car accident and been bedridden for over a year now , and separated from my 2 children and wife of 21 years but I’m rehabbing and trying to get back to them as soon as I can so watching you two enjoy the movies really reminds me of me and my wife when we were courting before we got married in our early 20’s. Didn’t mean to get personal but you can tell the real reactions from the not so genuine! Anyways I love the chemistry and I’ve been here for every marvel plus so many others….. your horror ones make me laugh!! When you lay in a bed 20 hours a day you gotta have something to watch, so thank you both very much and I’m looking forward to your next one Thor Ragnorok is my favorite in the Thor series btw!! And I’m still down for leaving you guys some movie recommendations if you’re interested and run out of ideas. I’m old I’m 45 now so maybe turn you guys on to some great classics!!!
thanks for sharing that! I'm glad we can help bring back some good memories and I'm sorry to hear about the accident! Yes give us all the classics you know! Thanks for watching!
Absolutely guys but I’ll just start with leaving you guys one and if you react and like it I’ve got tons more! 12 Angry Men ( got to be the original 1957) black and white-yes. Will you notice it- no!
How was it portrayed in the comics? By the same man who gave Spider-Man his costume and who plotted his early stories. Steve Ditko was one of my favorite comicbook artists when I was young. Doctor Strange was a visually "weird" comic, but it needed to be. This movie did an excellent job of translating Ditko's vision of spell-casting and strange dimensions to the big screen. As a Marvel fan since the '60s, this one made me as happy as seeing the first Sam Raimi "Spider-Man" film with Toby McGuire. And as important as Stan Lee is to the MCU...Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, and the "Bullpen"(as he called them) are right there with him. 'Nuff said.
@OldRoy I'm with you my friend. I bought my first Marvel comic book for 10 cents in 1966. We didn't have much money so I had two newspaper routes so I could buy subscriptions to all the Marvel comic books. I had hundreds of Marvel comics (lost over time) and my three favorite characters were Spiderman, the Silver Surfer, and Dr. Strange.
I think he became the best sorceror than ancient one because of his experience with dormamu time loop. Maybe he's fought dormamu a million times before dormamu became fed up and back down.
In the comics, it was explained as magic. But the MCU has described magic as tapping into the multiverse. Basically, other universes that have different physical properties. The comics were drawn very psychedelic. It was the 60s after all. Dr. Strange is even featured on Pink Floyd's second album cover. "A Saucerful of Secrets." That should tell you everything you need to know about him.
*Infinity Stones* have powers but none are called “Magic”. It’s: *Space* 💙, *Mind* 💛 (Scepter, on Vision), *Reality* ❤️, *Power* 💜 (Orb, Guardians of the Galaxy), *Time* 💚 (Necklace, Dr. Strange) and *Soul* 🧡. So far we have seen the first 5 in one way or another.
@@Andrew.Grabowski Yes, I just didn’t mention it in case these guys haven’t figured out what/where the blue and red stones are since they haven’t been seen as stones at this point.
@TheOctobersReact the actor that plays dr strange is a good actor. He plays Sherlock Holmes as well as Robert Downey Jr . Check out both versions. They are really good
He sold EVERYTHING but that watch. That one detail says more and more as one interprets it. I also appreciate the unintended humor of the Ancient One explaining death by Thermodynamics to a Doctor.
The symbol on the floor before the final battle with the ancient one is called The Flower Of Life and it comes from our worlds reue history too. Sacred Geometry. Also... occult just means hidden knowledge. ❤😊
@@TheOctobersReact I’d edit my comment to say original history from “reue” which was some sort of autocorrect thing but doing so would automatically remove the heart sticker you gave my comment. I don’t know why it does that but I found out that’s what happens about a year or two ago… 😂
You knew but forgot by the end that Wong explicitly says it's an Infinity Stone in the movie @ 49:49 - It's the "Time Stone", which is the green flavour.
Tilda Swinton portrays The Ancient One. In the comics the character is a male in Tibet. This was a problem for Disney due to them not wanting to offend China. So not only did they gender swap but also race swapped the character. Tilda Swinton also played the White Witch in the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. 😮 Muttonchops refers to sideburns. Having a mustache with a trimmed beard is a Goatee. 😅 That wasn't a vase, it was the Brazier of Bom'Galiath...an artifact. The cape is The Cape of Levitation...another artifact...but this one chose Strange. 😅 The mirror dimension is but one of many. They also mentioned the Dark Dimension where the Dread Dormammu resides and rules. So the purpose of this movie is to introduce the concept of magic and magic users into the MCU. Also the concept of multiple dimensions some of which impinge on our own. This opens the door for characters like Blade the vampire hunter, Werewolf By Night, Moon Knight, Mephisto, Nightmare and many others. 😮 Your instincts serve you well. The Eye of Agamotto is another artifact and an Infinity Stone, the Time Stone. 😮 The art direction with regards to the Dark Dimension is heavily influenced by artist Steve Ditko who was the artist on the Doctor Strange comic. He also was the original artist on the Spider-Man comic. Going back to Amazing Fantasy #15. Karl Mordo is known in the comics as Baron Mordo a Doctor Strange villain, rival to the Master of the Mystic Arts - The Sorcerer Supreme. 😮
Fitting that you found Dr. Strange's abilities hard to understand as you were also thrown by Wanda. Both characters are part of the witches/wizards of Marvel, which can be thought of similar to Harry Potter - it's magic (spells, enchantments, etc.), so there are laws to what can happen but.. it's also magic so what borrowed powers/items do what can get quite extreme. For a while, Strange was the most powerful character and had to be nerfed in comics similar to how Superman got toned down because the power creep in comics got too much.
I love your comment after the movie. " Thats Wanda" from phase 3 which is the infinity Saga to that movie where you say that's Wanda. ( Dr Strange sequel in MCU phase 4)......so much happens. You are all in for a ride from now until the end of phase 3. Keep in mind Phase 4 is a new Saga a new chapter of stories. You will understand after Avengers endgame. Okay I might have said too much. Great reaction as always
You two with color matching :) I haven't heard about Dr. Strange before and never read comics, so it was very unusual movie in the MCU, but i really liked it. One of the best for me.
Stan Lee is reading a famous book entitled Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley. It was a pretty influential book on western thinking concerning psychedelics, mysticism and metaphysics. Although Dr. Strange became a popular character in the late 1960s among the college crews, neither Stan and his co-creator Steve Ditko ( responsible for incredible strange mindscapes) were advocates for drug experimentation.
@@TheOctobersReact They claimed to be against drug experimentation due to Comics Code Authority in effect at that time. However, at least Steve Ditko was known to use LSD and likely created Dr Strange while under the influence. Hence the psychedelic look of the comics.
Another great reaction from you three (dog included). 😀My mind was blown the first time I saw Dr. Strange in 3D in the theater, I'd seen time travel movies before, but never in the way it was done in the third act of this movie. Plus how he played Dormammu was amazing also. If you want to see who gave the crazy look to comics like Dr. Strange & Thor, look up Steve Ditko & Jack Kirby online. Kirby worked with Stan Lee right from the beginning at Marvel as the artist, & he's probably had more influence on the look of comics in his lifetime more than just about anyone else. Can't wait for the next reaction!! Cheers!!
when wong listed the book "the key of solomon." i looked to my book shelf and saw my copy of "the lesser key of solomon." look it up. its what Hollywood has used to find antagonist inspiration for decades.
the surreal imagery of dormammu's dark dimension were directly borrowed from the pen of steve ditko, the original artist in the 60's who gave marvel spider-man, dr strange, a lotta monsters and weird sci-fi artwork.
Supposedly they fought for many years before Dormamu gave in, Strange gained years of experience in the battles, increasing his knowledge/power/mastery.
Widening the scpe of the MCU again, this movie does so much for whats possible in the future. Even to where we are now in 2024 man i hope we can get back on track to what bringing comics to life can be. 😅❤
He was reading a very famous book called the Doors of Perception. Its a book about drug use and consciousness. Mind trip stuff. All the weird stuff is them in the mirror dimension. its the funhouse mirror version of reality wizards can manipulate.
here we go go . loved this reaction so much you guys keep up the good work. next up guardians of the galaxy vol.2. and incase you were wondering the green stone is of course the time stone another infinity stone
He didn't see the future, he just lived it over and over again by creating an endless looped time and kept dying over and over again until dormammu gave up
"He's like Tony Stark." Yeah, kinda. But he won everything on his own, not from dad. And his story arc evolves, Tony's is flat. And he, Strange, sacrifice his life hundreds of time before Dormammu, while Tony had to hear "if I tell you what happens, it won't happen". So, who is the real hero, the real big one?
this all happened and no one from the Avengers group even knows their world is in danger of falling to Dormammu. and I don't know if Wong or anyone even know what strange has to go through just to win that fight, he actually died thousands of times and as that happening, he gain experience.
Most Marvel characters worth talking about were created by Jack Kirby. Accept for Spider-Man and Dr. Strange. They were both created by Steven Ditko. He really liked drawing hands, so both of them use the same hand pose, just oriented differently.
The book Stan Lee is reading is The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley. The book is about expanding one's consciousness by using hallucinogenic drugs. The Classic Rock group The Doors got their name from the book. The reason Dormammu's promise of eternal life is a half-truth is because when you become his disciples you become one of his horde called the Mindless Ones. Your memories, freewill, & consciousness are stripped away, and you can only serve him. They also have only one eye in the center of their foreheads which is why you see the area their eyes changing. Their bodies are also transformed into hulking monstrosities.
For the air force colonel that broke his back, I think it was the person that tested Justin Hammer's armor, not Rodey since Rodey's armor wasn't experimental.
The spell Doctor Strange cast in the dark dimension works because the loop is limited to only Strange himself since the dark dimension exists outside of time. Dormammu therefore does not get looped and experiences (and remembers) the entire fight.
I am soooo glad that someone said that this movie was like a different movie other than "inception" kind stand people who keep saying that it's inception rip off
You asked a few movies ago which superhero you would want to be, not your favorite but like what powers you would like to have? I would want either Dr. Strange or Wanda. Magic from the MCU is so cool and so versatile. I also love the ending of this and it's why I love magic in most fiction because the best way to defeat your enemies isn't always raw power, its intelligence. Dr. Strange stood no chance against Dormomu but he out thought him and beat him with intelligence.
From the very beginning of the MCU, there were so many Characters and Stories that they could bring to life...and "Doctor Strange" was right on Top of My Wishlist! I knew that His Movie would be a Game-Changing, World-Bending Experience because ("Yes") His Comics Books were just as Wild, Twisted and Crazy too!👍 Just so Y'all don't get lost along Your way, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is Next...and it's just as Good, if not Better than Their First Movie!👌 After that is "Spider-Man: Homecoming," then "Thor: Ragnarok" and then (finally) "Black Panther!"
This is my favorite MCU origin story and Doctor Strange is my favorite MCU hero. Benedict Cumberbatch is a perfect casting and btw he didn’t just act as Doctor Strange but he’s also the voice of Durmamu. 😊 Basically he takes energy from other dimensions and uses it to perform spells. He’s a talented genius with a photographic memory. He can use portals, conjure weapons, use relics, telekinesis, astral project, elemental control, he learned material arts, manipulate time through the time infinity stone, and basically many other things through spells that he still did not learn.
my two favourite MCU reactors. they watch and react to these films with little expectation, much enthusiasm and the maturity of a parent who knows it's just entertainment at the end of the day. that's what i love about these two

@regtravels8697 you so awesome!
But there are some cool ones.
i’m not gonna lie i had ankle surgery (not close to the same thing) but just their ability to operate on something and then live normal is hard for me bc i am so nauseous! i think y’all are so mentally tough and i applaud you! maybe it’s easier than i anticipated but for me i think that you guys are built different! congrats on retiring though! i hope you are enjoying it 😊
Give me a genius doctor surgeon with no bedside manner as opposed to the opposite everytime thank you!!!!!
It is absolutely crazy to think how we're all created for different tasks that take a different mental makeup and talent to excel at. I can only wonder how many 'mistakes' it takes for a guy like Strange to get so good at what he does. You have to have the mind to turn it off and move on.
Thanks, yeah, I'm enjoying it!
Lol
lol i would be annoyed too! thanks for watching 😊

Aww awesome every generation can enjoy reactions!! :)
I haven't seen many of the episodes of Sherlock, but what I have seen has been very entertaining, and the RDJ Sherlock Holmes movies were great if you ever feel the desire to watch them.
crazy to know they were both Sherlock lol!
@@TheOctobersReact Notice that they are also beard twins, having very similar beards.
I will leave the mistake for others to see 😂)
These films have SO many of those types of little cross-movie references in them.
Rhodey's armor was NOT experimental when he was injured, therefore he was not the person being mentioned.
@@orlandoawilliams799 thanks to both of you for clarifying. Still, it’s a reference, and I like to see that they’re catching things in the dialogue. ✌️
yeah we found out we were wrong! sorry y’all. but thanks for the kind words !
That scene at 35:14 wasn't planned. The broom fell on accident and scared the shit out of Rachel McAdams and they decided to leave it in because it fit so well.
Thank you, i assumed it was timed but always wondered because the reaction was so good.
Without giving anything else away, you will come to love Wong and the cloak both, as you continue your MCU journey.
they are both pretty cool we must say!
I always wondered how long Strange spent fighting Dormammu. He could of been looped in there for centuries...
crazy to think about !
Hulk
oh i see. that is exciting though!
_SO, HERE WE GO, FRIENDS! -_
*The interdimensional, parallel reality, space-time continuum, alternate existence multiverse explanation:*
The fundamental idea is that there is an infinite number of universes (just like ours); many of which have alternate versions of people & things from our very own.
Somehow, I’m still confused. . .but that made perfect sense👏👏👏

Spot on!
I grew up on Dr. Strange comics so I was actually excited when I found out this was being made. It’s fun with cool concepts and the visuals are tremendous 🤘🏽
was it a pretty accurate depiction in your opinion?
@@TheOctobersReact I mean depending what era you’re comparing it to cause some were very dark and gritty. Dormammu and Mordo look different in the comics but I have no problem with that. Besides that Benedict and the sorcerery visuals are pretty damn accurate.
@@TheOctobersReactAccurate that the visuals are trippy, so the comics and this movie are popular with people who use psychedelics.
(20:18, 22:20, 35:08)
Ruby Rings of Raggadorr - Manifested energy in the form of mandalas used as either shields (28:23) or projectiles (2:36)
Astral Projection - Your life force paranormally active and attentive while your physical body is in a state of inactivity. (22:30)
Mirror Dimension - The casting of a parallel dimension that mimics the surroundings of the area where the spell is cast.
This was Stephen's hero origin story and Baron Mordo's villain origin. Mordo is one of Dr. Strange's arch enemies in the comics.
“We have met Wanda, we have met Vision, I don’t know how much stranger Strange can get”...

This is a pretty cool movie. And it’s my best friend’s favorite movie in the MCU. I especially love how Dr. Strange saves the day when dealing with Dormammu. Self sacrifice and being clever about it. It’s amazing.
yes big character development 😊
I wanted Doctor Strange to be trapped in that time loop for hundreds even thousands of times and so that he could train in defensive and offensive spells for real... you know he was dying each time. It would have been a valuable time, decades of practical experience. Maybe it did happen and we just didn't see it.
@@mannygee005 It happened. He was there for years.
nice ! It's more of a sacrifice when he's not sure it will work and that he willingly goes to trap Dormammu and to face death over and over for an undetermined length of time. The movie went through it too fast. I think he actually said "pain is an old friend..."
I was laughing when he cracked the blonde woman in the face with a energy whip.
The Doors Of Perception was written by Brave New World author Aldous Huxley and was published in 1954. It's a non-fiction look at Huxley's experiments with the psychedelic mescaline, recounting his visions while on the drug and how it impacted his views on art and psychology.
... and where the rock group The Doors got their name.
FUN FACTS: This film marks the first time the (now famous) Marvel opening credits are used. From now on, be sure to notice the revolving heroes & scenes they add-on, as well as the various color schemes of the Marvel Studios logo at the end.
love those ! thanks for watching 😊
I am so happy you're about to start Agents of Shield cant wait for those reactions. One of the rare shows that gets better as it goes and sticks the landing, most shows fall off after the first couple of seasons

hilarious bc i don’t even know one person with that name!
Fun fact, the actor who plays Dr. Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch, also plays Dormomu.
There's 1 more stone left which I will not say
can’t wait to see it! thanks for watching 😊
And we won't see that until infinity war
you are kind of towing the line on giving away spoilers aren't ya.... I know not necessarily, but they will learn these facts as they continue to watch. @@jccurtis9431 don't worry, I know there's disrespect intended. @@carlgibson285I don't think @jccurtis9431 was referring to your comment.....
You'd have to see the old comic books to grasp it, probably.
those are on our horror list! thanks for the great suggestions
@@TheOctobersReactwhere is the best place to give you movie suggestions etc?
46:46 Trivia, Dormamu was play by Strange as well (in mocap suit)
so cool!
To me, Strange is an even worse version of Tony Stark in his ego and narcissism, but he arguably was humbled even more than Tony as well. Which is a good thing, because he comes out on the other end a better person and much more likeable. The visuals of this movie are still so mind blowing.
aw yeah can’t wait to see them together! bet that’ll be a treat!

Very underrated movie! Enjoy all of your guys reactions!
Thanks so much! Yes very very good one!
This is one of the golden nuggets of the MCU.
I literally thought the thumbnail was the “Oh my _Gooooood!!!”_ guy from Troll 2 😂
Hearing that you're going to do Agents of SHIELD (and the One-Shots) is fantastic news! It really is some of the best Marvel material out.
Fun Fact: the voice and mocap work for Dormammu was done by Benedict Cumberbatch the actor who played Doctor Strange in this movie.
😅😂😂 and his name is a pretty cool one
Strange fought doramomu for 1000 years. He became the sorcerer supreme while fighting.
It's the Time stone for sure. It'll play a big part in future movies(along with the other stones ofc). The post credits with Thor is hinting at Ragnarok..that movie is generally considered the best Thor movie...I'm looking forward to y'alls reaction to it
I'm gonna love his reaction when he sees a certain somebody in that movie 😂😅

How was it portrayed in the comics? By the same man who gave Spider-Man his costume and who plotted his early stories.
Steve Ditko was one of my favorite comicbook artists when I was young. Doctor Strange was a visually "weird" comic, but it needed to be.
This movie did an excellent job of translating Ditko's vision of spell-casting and strange dimensions to the big screen. As a Marvel fan
since the '60s, this one made me as happy as seeing the first Sam Raimi "Spider-Man" film with Toby McGuire.
Maybe he's fought dormamu a million times before dormamu became fed up and back down.
this is one of the only movies I happily paid for the 3d experience
In the comics, it was explained as magic. But the MCU has described magic as tapping into the multiverse. Basically, other universes that have different physical properties. The comics were drawn very psychedelic. It was the 60s after all. Dr. Strange is even featured on Pink Floyd's second album cover. "A Saucerful of Secrets." That should tell you everything you need to know about him.
oh nice that’s kinda a cool way to put it i guess

Tilda Swinton portrays The Ancient One. In the comics the character is a male in Tibet. This was a problem for Disney due to them not wanting to offend China. So not only did they gender swap but also race swapped the character. Tilda Swinton also played the White Witch in the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. 😮
Muttonchops refers to sideburns. Having a mustache with a trimmed beard is a Goatee. 😅
That wasn't a vase, it was the Brazier of Bom'Galiath...an artifact.
The cape is The Cape of Levitation...another artifact...but this one chose Strange. 😅
The mirror dimension is but one of many. 😮
Your instincts serve you well. The Eye of Agamotto is another artifact and an Infinity Stone, the Time Stone. 😮
The art direction with regards to the Dark Dimension is heavily influenced by artist Steve Ditko who was the artist on the Doctor Strange comic. He also was the original artist on the Spider-Man comic. Going back to Amazing Fantasy #15.
Karl Mordo is known in the comics as Baron Mordo a Doctor Strange villain, rival to the Master of the Mystic Arts - The Sorcerer Supreme. 😮
thanks for always helping us understand better! we appreciate you! thanks for watching 😊

Stan Lee is reading a famous book entitled Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley. It was a pretty influential book on western thinking concerning psychedelics, mysticism and metaphysics. Although Dr. Strange became a popular character in the late 1960s among the college crews, neither Stan and his co-creator Steve Ditko ( responsible for incredible strange mindscapes) were advocates for drug experimentation.
thank you!! i knew it would mean something! thanks for watching 😊
@@TheOctobersReact They claimed to be against drug experimentation due to Comics Code Authority in effect at that time. However, at least Steve Ditko was known to use LSD and likely created Dr Strange while under the influence. Hence the psychedelic look of the comics.
(At 30:11) Crimson Bands of Cyttorak. When that name "Cyttorak" pops up, only one person name comes to my mind "The Juggernaut"
Cheers!!
Nala says thank you! You saw it in 3D wow that was probably so so cool!
when wong listed the book "the key of solomon." i looked to my book shelf and saw my copy of "the lesser key of solomon." look it up. its what Hollywood has used to find antagonist inspiration for decades.
the surreal imagery of dormammu's dark dimension were directly borrowed from the pen of steve ditko, the original artist in the 60's who gave marvel spider-man, dr strange, a lotta monsters and weird sci-fi artwork.
All the weird stuff is them in the mirror dimension. its the funhouse mirror version of reality wizards can manipulate.
wow interesting! thanks for watching 😊
fantastic movie, loved it too ... and adore your cute pug 😄
Nala girl says thank you!
here we go go . loved this reaction so much you guys keep up the good work. next up guardians of the galaxy vol.2. and incase you were wondering the green stone is of course the time stone another infinity stone
thanks Blake! we appreciate your support as always! thanks for watching 🙂
Yes, it is the Time Stone.
let’s go!!
this all happened and no one from the Avengers group even knows their world is in danger of falling to Dormammu. and I don't know if Wong or anyone even know what strange has to go through just to win that fight, he actually died thousands of times and as that happening, he gain experience.
I love this movie, top 5 for sure. Dr. Strange is really awesome and powerful. Also the CGI is just incredible!
100% agree 😊 thanks for watching
You don’t have to thank me
@stevenrogers8601 we love the support Cap !
Yeah!!! Marvel mondays lets go ma boa!!!
🇵🇷
let’s gooooo!
I'm having fever but still watching your reaction.... you guys are so good....😊
oh my goodness!! i hope you feel better! thanks for the dedication! get well though friend !
I am soooo glad that someone said that this movie was like a different movie other than "inception" kind stand people who keep saying that it's inception rip off
i’m glad we haven’t seen inception to even consider it similar lol 😂 thanks for watching 😊
I knew that His Movie would be a Game-Changing, World-Bending Experience because ("Yes") His Comics Books were just as Wild, Twisted and Crazy too!👍
Just so Y'all don't get lost along Your way, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is Next...and it's just as Good, if not Better than Their First Movie!👌 After that is "Spider-Man: Homecoming," then "Thor: Ragnarok" and then (finally) "Black Panther!"
yes cannot wait for GOTG2 !!! it’s gonna be great! thanks for watching 😊
you look like a cross between jeffrey dahmer and the toxic avengers before he got mutated
Doctor Strange debuted in Strange Tales #110 (July 1963), Created Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
I cant wait for scream 4, and even more for Agents of Shield, ill give you my kidneys for agents of shield
kidney? ahhhh!
43:27 that's why Kaecilius called her a Hypocrite at the beginning of the movie 😢😢
Thanks for this reaction. One of my Top 5 MCU films.
Thor, T’Challa: nobility
Strange: Sorcery + wisecracks
This is my favorite MCU origin story and Doctor Strange is my favorite MCU hero. Benedict Cumberbatch is a perfect casting and btw he didn’t just act as Doctor Strange but he’s also the voice of Durmamu. 😊
Basically he takes energy from other dimensions and uses it to perform spells. He’s a talented genius with a photographic memory. He can use portals, conjure weapons, use relics, telekinesis, astral project, elemental control, he learned material arts, manipulate time through the time infinity stone, and basically many other things through spells that he still did not learn.
