I've had my Redhawk 7 1/2" for near forty years. I've been loading my own ammo for 42 years. Bought a 3" GP100 in .44 Special to keep her company a few years back. Then I picked up a snubby SP101 in .357 Mag. The .44 Spl GP100 is as
smooth firing as I could ever wish for in a brand new revolver. So sweet! I've had my .22 Ruger Single Six for 41 years now.
All of these Rugers plus the rest of the gang go to my two sons along with the mess of supplies and accessories. In the
meantime, shoot, shoot, shoot................clean, clean, clean...........................load, load, load.
I bet that sounds familiar to most everyone here.

I have an 7.5" Redhawk from the early 90s in 45 Colt without scope ring mounts like yours. I can really crank up the 45 Colt handloads in that thing. Such a strong handgun.

Nice revolver, I've got one exactly like it. I put larger wood grips on mine for my large hands. I had trigger work done on mine, very accurate gun..!!! LOVE IT...!!!

As much as I like Rugers, I also would love to see a Black Powder "quick change" swing out cylinder version of the Tarus Raging Judge revolver that uses 410 length cylinders in .40 caliber, that also uses 209 priner ignition and standard percussion cap ignition

I always liked the Red Hawk but wish that Ruger made a Black Powder only version that used "quick change" swap out cylinders that use 209 shotgun primers and those that use standard percussion cap primers; at least two of each. I believe that these will be even more popular than their "old army black powder revolvers

You say all you need is a Vaccaro to complete your Ruger Revolver collection. I don't think so. Currently I have 6 Ruger revolvers in my collection and I'm just getting started. I have 3 Single 6 Convertibles (and 3 granddaughters), a 357/9mm Blackhawk, a 30 Carbine Blackhawk and a 41 magnum Blackhawk. Yes currently they are all SA's but that can change without notice. I have at least 7 other SA's in my collection ranging from Heritage 22's to Interarms 44 magnum. And I'm always looking for the next gun that I desperately don't need but can't live without. So I caution you sir don't think that just because you get your Vaccaro, your Ruger collection will be complete. The good news is there is to the best of my knowledge, no 12 step program for our "problem" . If there is please don't tell my wife.

Nice gun. I wouldn't bother with 44 special brass. I load 240 gr swc hi tek coated bullets with Hodgon Clays in magnum cases. They go about 920 fps. Not too much hotter than a 45 auto. That way you don't have 2 crud rings to clean in the chambers.

I second this. Just made a light 357 load with fast burning powder to take the place of my 38s. No changing die setups, no mixing up powder loads, no carbon ring. No downside at all as far as I can tell

The regular does look better than the super.
I have a ton of 44 special brass only fired once that I could send some to you. I have 4 ruger wheel guns in 44 mag, 357 mag, and 2 sp101's in 357 mag one is a 2 " the other is 3". I've been a fan of ruger since the early 80s when I was old enough to perchance one. Rugers are built to last several lifetimes.

@jesseboutdoors hit me up, I don't have much use for 44 special I load 44 magnum lite loads for plinking and some hot ones for the Henry big boy. I got 4 big gal. Ziploc bags full of mixed magnum and special from a guy who decided to sell his 44. He even threw in the lee dies he had and 2 packs of primers. Oh and I love my lee classic turret press, and my on press priming system is picky too so I prime off the press.

45 colt will beat the 44 mag when loaded in a gun that can handle the pressure. 45 has always been handicapped by the weak revolvers it was chambered in
