This and the time Ashens forgot to edit a part in a video (that almost resulted in joel thinking he had a stroke). are pure gold.
It still amazes me that GTAO would rather more quickly ban the player for getting millions and not the guy teleporting the entire room of players under the map and have them all drown.
Money can be caught for cash, thereby giving RS an excuse to ban them with prejudice, whereas griefing and trolling don't put paid currency into the market

I've legit had to use a fairly weak cheat program, one I normally use to mess around in single player. Cheater was going around insta-killing everyone. So I turned on invincibility (the only cheat the program has that worked in Online). Cheater responded by banning/kicking me from the server they were cheating on, saying I was ruining their fun and they're going to report my account for cheating/hacking.

"Descent II" has something similar, although it will just kill you instead.
Ironically, it's when you successfully use a cheat code in the first game that the game calls you a cheater.

It's not stealing if you sell someone a shell for a dollar and then buy it back for 10. Punishing players for something left in the game is fucked. As long as no code in being modified, no third-party software is being used, and no one is getting hurt, then the player shouldn't be getting punished for anything.
(and no, a company's bottom line that exist to make the rich, richer doesn't count.)

That account reset thing actually really pisses me off. Rockstar wanting to crack down on cheaters is one thing, but the fact that they push the microtransactions so heavily makes it kind of sickening.
"Oh, so you found something that our game testers missed? Oops, there goes your whole account! Don't worry though. You can just pay a couple hundred dollars and be back to where you were!"
And I'm sure the much more severe cheating that actually ruins the fun for the other people probably doesn't get as much attention.

This video feels like it was edited quite haphazardly, very rare for DYKG, noticed no less than 4 editing errors or slipups, and they just popped up I wasn't looking for them at all.
The Witcher 3 also has an anti cheat system in place incase the player has far to much money... the funny thing is though is that the barrier to reach that count is really not hard to get to at all so if you're a 100% completionist you'll get to see the flagged cutscene with the banker investigating you.

Being on GTA playing as Michael, Franklin & Trevor activating cheat codes is a level of enjoyment that I wish I could have everytime.
Considering the vast amounts of cheaters still on GTA Online I'd say they still have a huge problem to tackle
They've reset my character a couple times, but I just come back after a ban and give myself the money back. It's better to enjoy the game for a couple months at a time rather than grind it.
The L4D exploit was not the players' fault, neither was the Witcher. They are using game mechanics to their advantage.
GTA V was the first online game I ever played on pc when I built my computer in 2016. Not even a few months after I kept getting bans for whatever reason. I've never had any problems on other games on pc.

I don't agree with preventing cheating in single player games, cheating is just a way for people to find more fun in a game that they've beat multiple times already, and that thing in witcher 3 was why I dropped the game, I wasn't after the money, I was after a good food source
exactly. Any devloper that punishes or griefs a player in a single player game for cheating is just an arrogant prick that wants to tell people they have to enjoy the game the way they intended and no other way.
Multi player games are different as using any kind of cheat can mess up game balance which affects other players so that's okay. Although even then punishment should be within reason.

The GTA account reset was too extreme a punishment. Not that the people who used that exploit didn't deserve punishment, but there have been countless other exploits before and after that were never punished with nearly the same severity (if at all).
And that's without even talking about the rampant hacking with mod menus that is the biggest source of cheated money and griefing in the game. That's what they should really be focusing on going after.
I made hundreds of millions selling duplicated cars, never got banned or reset. I also used the replay glitch for heists dozens of times, never got an infraction. So yes, it is shocking, and tone deaf that they'd reset accounts for this minor and insignificant exploit. On the other hand, you can't really complain about getting caught if you're cheating.

I literally spent years using mod menus and just dropping oceans of money in the middle of the city and never got banned. It's very silly what rockstar decide to focus their attention on

I had a friend I'd known since I was 3 who got me into GTA Online. In 2015, he handed me the email address and password for an account he modded as a gift to me. I thanked him for the idea and argued over using it for 7 months until I finally logged in around October 2015. I didn't do any cheats to cause harm to any players, I just grinded like I always have.
I think it was March or July of 2017 when one day not only were our characters gone but our PSN accounts were blocked out and we couldn't access anything. He was screaming, punching his wall, calling Rockstar every name in the book. But, I was just like "Well, it sucks but I wasn't comfortable modding to begin with" and just went to my real PSN account and began grinding on there. Right now, I'm at 52,000,000 in my account and I have enough cash that I can get anything I want.
They should have just buffed the Demon Cow Protector, give him invincibility frames, super amor, tons of health and give him terrible dropped items instead of just removing it after 1 fight
I think it's extremely rude for some one to cheat or try to gain the system in an online game everything they get is deserved but I think it's stupid in single player games to get punished for wanting to cheat it's your experience you're the only one ruining it for yourself who cares if you cheat In single player games it just feels so petty when a developer does that
Exactly. I cheat in single player games sometimes when I just don't want to deal with some tedious thing.
Just recently I got back into Pokemon after being out of it for 10 years and wanted to speed through the games to catch up. So to make it easier on myself I hacked several of them to get all the money and items I'd need so I wouldn't have to waste time grinding.
Yes I get exploring is part of the game but I was just after the core game in this case and wanted to side step the other stuff to an extent.

Or do like starcraft did. Activate cheat and upgrades and high tech units can't be made
The "Earring of Sad Exploitation" was an example from Everquest. When players found a way to access a raid boss before it was intended to be released, all the loot they got from it was turned into "X of Sad Exploitation," which gave -99 to all stats and resists, -999 to HP and MP, and weighed an absolute ton. A lot of people were upset by that, but I'd take it as a trophy these days.

unless you are genuinely hacking in a multiplayer game you should not get Punished
if the dev messes up and leaves in an exploit its their fault not the players
and that crap with GTA5 is one of many reasons I'll never give rockstar another cent of my money.

Rockstars harsh approach to cheats and glitches is literally why I stopped playing it. The key issue for me was, hacker spawns like 3-5 million out my ass, Okay cool off i go to buy bunch of rando crap. Then months later I've grinded my way into multiple businesses I've earned millions properly idk why because at this point it feels like a fucking job more than a game snowballing my income like this. None of it earned with the hacked money that went on cars and mods for the most part and a house.
Now months down the line I hop on to find I have 50k not 10 odd million. WTF I think glitch, hack whats going on I think. Eventually raised a ticket with support. Oh yea you had hacked money so we took it off you ticket closed. Respond that was ages ago, I've since spent it and I wasn't the one cheating and had no control over it, it spawned on me and I've earned this legit, how am I supposed to differentiate the balances of legit and cheated money?. Ticket closed. Basically fuck you don't care buy a shark card or cry alone.
Basically someone else cheated and they fuck my hard work over. So fuck them and their scummy practices maybe put as much work into stopping cheats as you do skimming microtransactions and punishing innocents.
Geez, Rockstar. Totally resetting accounts is way, way, way too harsh for what those players were doing. Taking away unfairly gained things and suspending the account is fair enough and many others do it that way for a reason. And I hear from others that they don't do anything about even worse cheaters? What kind of boo boo strategy is this?
Because the actual cheaters ruining peoples experience don’t effect their income for the over priced micro transactions, but the people exploiting a glitch are getting around the micro transactions does mean rockstar makes less money thus they care about that more than their actual players because they’re a greedy multibillion dollar corporation.

Attempting to Cheat Engine ammo for any subweapon in the MSX-styled La-Mulana will give you ammo alright... Except using the now cheated ammo will lock Lemeza in place. And if you save with cheated ammo, GG, you might as well load a clean save or start from scratch.
Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch has an unintentional(?) one in the Stardroids chapter: trying to MDK or using the Kill command proper against certain bosses will cause the fight to become unwinnable or outright crash the game! It's specially funny because it could be argued the big evil at the end doesn't like cheaters!

In Gradius and Gradius 2, the Konami code gave you all the upgrades (except double or laser). However, inputting it in Gradius 3 will make it look like you get all the upgrades-but as soon as you unpause, it blows up your ship with a special animation.
Using the L and R buttons instead of left and right is the actual cheat.
Does anyone else think that it should be a cardinal sin to have sponsor segments in the middle of a video? They really ought to be at the beginning or the end so as not to interrupt the actual content. I remember the judge in Runescape. I've been there to throw bots in Varrock. I even once being accused for using bots. It will not give you a ban but more like you lock in a cage in Varrock for a long period of time.

The Clam/pearl exploit was funny too. By collecting clams/oysters you can break them down into pearls at a town smithy and sell for a huge profit. In one of the dlc's if the game detected the exploit you have to pay a tax on them and the collector specifically brings up the pearls

Anti cheat is lazy in modern times. I wouldn’t even bother to try some games on PC. I heard hackers can mess with you even in single player in GTA 5.
For a while after release, you could get banned from Dark Souls 3 multiplayer if some other guy cheated an item and left it in your world.

Why not allow the code to be entered in the app itself. Instead it just won't go through. I've tried many times already and now it says I've tried too much because the app kept resetting so I couldn't get to the inbox in time which means I have to restart.
I dont get why people cheat in games. Like how does it make it any fun to play a survival game like Left 4 dead and hide in a spot or in the sky box where nothing can kill you. It takes all the thrill and fun out of the game and you dont even look good for doing it you just look like someone who sucks at the game.

Yet, Rock* doesn't give a fly FUUU** about the rampant online cheaters who use invincibility, insta-kill, and various other hacks and glitches to ruin the day of regular players. Or even the spam bots who clutter the chat with BS ads.
Because that doesn't affect their bullshit online market since it's not like you can buy those hacks in game. They only care if they think there is money in it for them.
Rockstar likes to take forever to deal with god mode cheaters but god forbid someone makes some extra cash.
I love these videos on this subject. It’s fascinating because it shows me the dedication some people have in exploring every possibility, but it’s awesome seeing how the developers and programmers behind the game fight back - especially when it’s unfair or impacts other player’s experience(s) in some way, shape, or form.
I sometimes wish I could explore code and a games’ inner workings, but alas, I went into the medical field. If you have the ability to do so, just know I envy you.
This video makes me feel sorry for "cheaters", especially the Heretic one. I wish there were more examples of actually harmful cheaters getting their comeuppance.
Now I'm curious on what would happen with all the Doom cheats. Like if "noclip" made the player fall through the floor.

A hacker stopped me from walking and then executed me with a machine gun that shoots actual cars LITERALLY yesterday.
That doesn't affect Rockstar's micro transactions though.

i liek that for the GTA one it was something that was clearly an obvious glitch people would find, something important enough that QA testers should have found. the severe punishment seems uncalled for.
the real dick move there is wouldnt be surprised if that exploit oversight STILL isnt fixed so they can just keep deleting people who accidentally find it.
You say "zee" for bdz because it's not a matter of pronunciation differences, it's the "proper name" and is the only way to get a "balsy dragon."

If you "cheat" in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels by taking a Warp Zone the game won't let you play the last couple of Worlds. You have to play every level in-sequence to access the entire game.
If you use the Super Guide in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, the game will not grant you the best reward in the game (rainbow stars on your save file), even if you return to those levels and complete them yourself after you've improved your skill at the game.
one PC anti cheat I know of was in the CD-ROM game Captain Claw. You can type in cheats but you wont be able to save your game, and being as it's such a hard game I would have to try and beat it in one shot.
I wish real life punishments were this cool. Just banish criminals to a island and make them dunce.
Crazy how quickly Rockstar will rectify an issue that messes with their real world revenue, but they just keep upping the prices of things in game to fix that economy

5:35 I remember playing gta online on the ps3 (i didn't have a computer at the time and even if i did have one i would bother putting cheat menus on it) i remember creating a accout my brother followed suit then we saw a exploiter. Although he was using critical hacks to kill me he decided to do the funni and give me $200M, insane amounts of ammo on EVERY SINGLE GUN, and infinite snacks (ya know the stuff that heals you?). I didn't know that accounts could be erased by illegally obtained money (call me dumb not like i care). Lucky my account didn't get erased yet. Im now scared as my only main account instantly transformed into a modded account the second i joined gta online.

is a name, not a letter.
It doesn't even make sense. No other letter in the Alphabet sounds like it has multiple extra letters attached to it.
Zed is clearly a more complex sound than any other letter in the alphabet which makes zero sense as letters are meant to be basic building blocks for words.
But then the English go all "oh we pronounce more we're clearly right and better than you lazy AMericans". And on that note I've looked up some of them and in some cases the "English" spelling they use in the UK isn't even the origional one! In some cases etiher the American version came first and they just added to it or both the American and UK versions are alterations of a more ancient spelling of the word that no one uses anymore.
So their argument "our spelling is correct" is largely false.
I remember that money glitch on ps3, I somehow slipped by and have slowly been playing thru the money from the biggest heist I ever pulled on GTA V, the one we pulled over rockstar
