    Actually, iirc crash bandicoot 3's combo bonus doesn't have a set cap and overflows into data it's not supposed to, which just happens to be gems, crystals, etc. It's also human viable. iirc if you spin and jump in a certain way, you can move without breaking your combo. In the level polar plunge (I think. It's an ice level.) if you jump on a box next to a pit with penguins sliding into it, your combo will go up with each penguin. This trick is used in certain speedruns.
    Edit: Crash 2, not Crash 3. My bad. Been a while since I've played the old Crash games.

    • @TheD101
      @TheD101 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      There were no ice levels in Crash 3. You might be thinking of Crash 2 or Crash TWoC, but you definitely are correct about the spin and jump thing. If you spin and crouch right before you hit the ground, it preserves the combo

    • @consair
      @consair 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do it in crash3 too, that is how they beat the game in the true any% speedrun category.

    • @TheD101
      @TheD101 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@consair Indeed. There are not many spots to execute the move early on. I can think of Bone Yard as the best early level to pull off the trick. Otherwise Hang Em High in the second warp room area would work best

    • @consair
      @consair 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheD101 bone yard I think to get the first few crystals then somewhere in the second warp. Also the tigers in the tiny fight was one route that got it there and held it until a different level with a specific movement technique

      ThaRixer covers it which is why I thought it was odd they said it was TAS only unless it's the 3rd one specifically you can't make use of it but I know for a fact the 2nd one does since it can be done on the Snow Go level and exploiting spin crouching to save the jump counter.

    The factoid that you provided at 9:18 in regards to Crash Bandicoot: Warped is misguided.
    This is a method that can be executed the same way as the previous titles and the values provided in the table are practically the same, til Relics and Powers having the difference.
    (It would be nice if you mentioned Cortex Strikes Back since it's the same method)
    The other issue is that this can be performed without tool-assistance and that’s including in Warped. There’s a speedrun (and WR) by burgerlands2 that does exactly what you’re saying without tool-assistance.
    It’s also nowhere close to being "nigh-on impossible" to execute, cause the method you’re showcasing, the one in Gee Wiz has been performed by human players (including burgerlands2).

      It was a time unrivaled in the industry. It was synergy between games becoming cheaper to produce (cds cost less than cartridges and the value got passed on to the consumer), and the “90s alternative” mindset making developers and customers more interested in trying new things. The ps1 was also terrible and rendering people, which forced developers to make interesting games using vehicles and abstract objects rather than copying Hollywood films.
      The end result was amazing stuff that would never get tried today.

    i'm planning since at least 5 years to buy an actual ps1 again. but...
    living in the pal region sucks. so importing a ntsc console would be the next best thing
    the power difference and always importing games is a waste of money, so modding the console would be a necessity
    i probably will stick with my retropie

      What a relief. I missed videos where it's done 50/50, instead of showing just one thing.
      Their subscriber account hasn't increased for over a year. Why is that? Does it have anything to do with making sponsors videos that prevents them from gaining more subscribers?

    Remembering the golden age of Square.. before the merger, they couldn't be beat, they were *THE* company to contend with in the RPG genre.. recently, they've been getting better but there was a short time where they were just putting out whatever and it wasn't good.
