    I like using fountain pens for practicing my penmanship. I started learning Spencerian and was using dip pens and then fell into the fountain pens, paper, inks, watercolor and stationery rabbit hole. One hobby just leads to another.😊

    First of all, thanks for making this video and all the details you shared in it - I'm so happy whenever I see people sharing examples of how fountain pens work on different papers.
    I have just recently picked back up journaling as a hobby after having a rough time with a medical diagnosis. This time I started out very small, journaling and recapping my days in order to connect with myself and my spirit better - so not to get lost in the fact that I was sick and practically living at the hospital. Few months ago I decided to go for those things I never dared before because I thought as unreachable and impossible for me to be successful in, that included writing. So I bought myself my first fountain pen to feel more inspired to write - and that I did. I started writing daily, not only in a journal format, but writing creatively, trying out different writing styles, practicing and practicing, and I want to start publishing something very soon so to let people into my world and imagination. Being able to have high-quality tools to write has been a great motivator to keep going, to write to feel the pen glading on the paper, to feel deeply and feel in tune with myself.
    In my case, I'd use one of the pens to continue writing more and the other one I'd gift my bestfriend who has grown an interest in using a fountain pen for the first time!

    My absolute favorite way to use my fountain pens is writing letters to my dad. I got into fountain pens when he started writing me letters about a decade ago, and now it’s one of the best ways to use my pens. I also love using the pretty pens to keep track of everything that I know will slip out of my ADHD brain. Whether it’s tracking projects, planning a new make, or just taking notes at meetings, the fountain pens make what might be otherwise mundane into something really special.

    • @LittleCocoStudio

      I love the fact that you exchange letters with your dad. 🥹😭 That’s so so sweet. 💓
      I also find making my pen writing experience more enjoyable helps to keep me organized overall. I’m using my planners more and I’m slowing down to write things down. I tried to go fully digital with my iPad for a while, but I never felt more scatterbrained. 😅 Writing/recording things on paper feels more manageable and intentional!

    I'm so excited to see this collab! I love that that you are both giving away something that you have worked with and has made a big impact on your fountain pen journey. It's so cool to see how your different creative processes lead you to different tools and styles.
    One of my favorite ways to use my fountain pens is for long format journaling. I have kept a similar kind of journal since I was a kid. I recently was gifted a very sentimental pen (which is also a Pilot Metropolitan!). Using fountain pens to write increases my intentionality, mindfulness, and connection. I would love to use the two pens to compare to my current Pilot Metropolitan and TWSBI pens. I haven't had a lot of experience with different configurations of pen, ink, and paper. I recently bought a planner with Tamoe River Sanzen paper, and I am so excited to try it out with my pens!

    My favorite way to use my fountain pen is for my morning pages. It almost romanticizes the daily routine. Early morning quiet with a cup of coffee, cozy blanket, and some journaling with my favorite fountain pen is a very calming way to start my day. Fountain pens also make me more likely to follow through with using my planners and journals because of having a special pen that's only used for those tasks. It makes me look forward to getting to use them.

I love to see how the inks interact on different papers and their different properties on display especially inks sheen. I thought it was so interesting how this ink behaved differently in two different nib sizes of the same pen. I will have to try this out with some of my favorite and least favorite inks. This is such a fun way to engage with the community and pass along something that doesn't fit your needs! I'm always a huge fan of creators managing to talk about these sorts of collection-based niches without falling into or promoting over consumption! I also hadn't seen any of Liane's videos yet, so I'm glad to have someone new to watch:)
    I actually ended up working with fountain pens in a weirdly roundabout way! I started watching your videos because I was interested in content about adhd, mindfulness, and planning, but at the time I didn't really have any intentions of working with fountain pens. From there I picked back up my daily journaling practice, but I was having a lot of wrist strain issues with writing, so I went looking for other options. I saw fountain pens recommended a lot as an option that didn't need as much pressure to write with, and finally caved lol. I've been working with my Pilot Kakuno to do my daily journaling, and it has definitely helped my wrist strain, but I feel like I'm in that transition you described here between my initial research and further experimentation. The extra fine nib is nice, but I think my writing might be better suited for something slightly broader, and I'm really looking forward to experimenting with new inks (i'm in a similar phase at the moment as you were, searching for a blue i can fall in love with 😅). I also like the idea of having a few separate pens and inks to cycle through as a means of compartmentalizing. I find it's really helpful for me to have a hard, visual break between tasks/time periods/topics.

    • @LittleCocoStudio
      @LittleCocoStudio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you so much for sharing how you got into fountain pens. As for your perfect blue - how would you describe it? 🩵💙

    • @b1rdeee
      @b1rdeee 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LittleCocoStudio honestly i'm not really sure yet! i really love the blue in my pigma micron pn, which is sort of just a plain bright primary blue, but i think part of moving to broader nibs for me is falling in love with inks that have a lot of subtle variations in them.. i'm definitely still in the 'dreaming and saving' phase of blue acquisition 😅

    My favourite way to use fountain pens is in my daily/planner journal. I use a TN standard weekly vertical, with my daily planning on the left, and I use the right side to note down events & thoughts that occurred during the week. Since there’s a proficiency test every December, I thought that a notebook like the hobonichi or the midori diary be great to use as a countdown. In the days leading up to the exam, I could use it to track how I studied that day (eg 1 hour of listening on Tuesday, 30 mins of writing on Wednesday etc), for color coding those skills on the monthly calendar pages, and tracking daily goals (eg. 2 new words a day). I do like to have a few pens I'm rotating through to test out different inks. I do have a fine metropolitan that I use for work, but I'd love to test different nibs and it actually is one of my favorite pens in the way it feels in my hand, so would love to play around with them for journaling rather than just quick notetaking!

      Ahh, I can relate to the “good enough” handwriting. Whenever I start a new diary, I always spend a week or so trying to practice better cursive. I like using fountain pens any chance I get lol - note-taking, letters, long form journalling. I only choose non-fountain pens for planning (I need a frixion for constant erasing) and my main dailies ( which I use lots of fun coloured pens).
    It’s bizarre to me now, but for the longest time, I felt fountain pens were beyond me. As if they belonged to a certain calibre & type of person (like a 40 yr-old male executive lol). Their price points didn’t help I suppose.
    I think I would use them for my brain dump/notetaking books. But I would have to meet them in person & feel out their personalities. 😊

      @@LittleCocoStudio TRP is for sure my favorite. But I have some muji and Rhodia paper that is nice. I have an onion skin notebook and am really excited to try that paper. I am definitely going to try the cartridge fill. I’ve never done that to any pen.

    I love using my fountain pens for journaling! They are such smooth writers and I have penabled a few friends and family members into this hobby! I would love to gift these 2 pens to a friend and my mom who recently got into fountain pens so she can try and see which ones she like!

    At one of the clinics that I work at, they still use pen and paper for medical records instead of EMR. I usually ink up my Muji x Preppy fountain pen with waterproof inks like Octopus Write & Draw in Blue Chameleon or Rohrer & Klingrer Freida to write clinical notes. You can also never go wrong with document-safe blue ink in a TWSBI 1.1 stub for signing signatures 😉. I would be curious to know how the Pilot Metropolitan performs on regular office copy paper and see if it would show ghosting and/or bleeding when I use it at the clinic.

      Thank you for commenting! Out of curiosity, have you experienced any issues with using Octopus and R+K inks in your fountain pens? Ive been curious about Octopus inks specifically because they are heavily discounted at a local pen store, but they always warned that they can be more challenging to work with.

    I love using my fountain pens to write letters, take notes with different inks when I am studying a new subject, and also to journal🥰 I have never used a Pilot Metropolitan, my first pens where all Lamy Safaris. I would love to compare the two pens to the Lamy fine and medium nibs, and of course, use them for letter writing.

    I think I might use your pens to test out the nibs and see how they write. If they don't end up ideal for me, I'm most likely going to try and penable a coworker or two with them...

I personally have just been introduced to fountain pens and so far I've stuck to a trusty Pilot Kakuno in to write in my Kinbor planner, which has been working fine, but I'm planning to upgrade to a Hobonichi for next year so it would be super neat to be able to test a few other pens on it as well ✨ Thanks for hosting the giveaway, by the way, and especially for accepting worldwide entries as well 🥰

    Ooh... I'm a first time viewer of your channel and videos, but I love the cozy style and how you use your fountain pens! I'm excited to see what other content you post in the future and also excited at the opportunity to enter such a kind giveaway.
    I love to use my fountain pens in my planner for journaling and memory keeping in my Hobonichi Cousin. I change my inks every month and rotate through which is my dominant ink & pen combo each week. I do this with the Rose, Thorn, Bud journaling method.
    I currently have 5 fountain pens and 1 of them is a Pilot Prera . I'd love to have the chance to try out a Pilot fine nib and compare the differences there. Additionally, I'd love to see what a more metal bodied pen feels like in my hand because I tend to grip my writing instruments quite tightly and firmly. I wonder too if the metal body will be harder or easier to grip than my current plastic bodied pens. I'd also love to explore the nuances of different fountain pen converters and perhaps do some experimentation with refilling a cartridge with my own ink.
