Pentatonix did the Andrews Sisters proud with this one! The sisters must be smiling down from heaven to think this song is being played approximately 80 years later and can sound so good by a group such as Pentatonix. It's Brilliant in any decade/century.
@8:00 was awesome! Sounded like Jerry Lee Lewis playing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy lol! Your music knowledge & ability to hear everything & break it down to make sense is 🤌🤌🤌
Being overall a jazz fan (in its original sense as a diminutive of fanatic) I always love it when PTX sprinkles some jazz or swing riffs into their music (e.g. "You're a Mean One Mister Grinch") and now that you are venturing into their audio-only catalogue may I offer a challenging song to 'dismember' that I have never seen a reaction to and that you might enjoy - "White Christmas" by PTX featuring The Manhattan Transfer (and therein lies the challenge). I'm sure I won't have to explain to you what The Manhattan Transfer could/did bring to such a collaboration. But I would enjoy having you explain it to me in your inimitable way. Being also a Pentaholic, do I have to say how much I enjoy this version of "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy"? I thought not. [edited because my OCD would not permit me to leave the extraneous apostophe in the word "it's" once I'd seen it. OCD is hell to live with but really helped in making me a good computer programmer.]
I love the combination of the vintage and modern take. Definitely makes it ver interesting, and a great listen! Thank you ALWAYS for your wonderful content! ❤🇺🇸
I suspect the view count is low because the Andrew Sisters and other Big Band performers aren't well known to younger generations. Lovely reaction, thank you!
One of my favorites. My mother and her two sisters used to perform this on a local radio station in Charleston, West Virginia. They were offered a recording contract but due to their young age my Grandparents wouldn't allow it. We still got lucky as they were still singing together (at family gatherings) I think my Mother was 15 when they were offered the recording deal, so I totally get my Grandparents' reluctance. I love music from the 40's and onward. Used to love watching my parents Jitterbug to this song also. Miss them both so much but thanks for allowing me this trip down memory lane. 👍✌🤗
I'm so glad you did this one! I'm not sure I've seen anyone react to this before! Please keep sprinkling in reactions to songs without videos! One I hope you'll do is Rose Gold: it's an original and one of my favourites by them, but again, I've never seen a reactor react to it. Now I'm off to watch your meeting Avi video (which is awesome!)
I've never seen a reaction to it either. I think not even D has done one and he has almost 300 PTX reaction videos of their stuff and is checking out the backstage videos from 2019 now. I love Rose Gold as well. Anchor and It's Different Now are two other no video faves.
To answer your questions I think that (as always), PTX got it exactly right. The retro effects were an homage to the amazing Andrews Sisters, and the modern version brings in their own ideas. Two treats in one. Please, Sir, don't hesitate to react to the audio-only songs! Suggestions: Na Na Na, Water, and Hey Momma/Hit the Road Jack from PTX. There are live versions but, as far as I know, no official videos for any of those. From Avi, there are two neglected songs from his Avriel and the Sequoias EP Sage and Stone--neglected, I"m sure, because there are no videos: Song for the Seeker and the eponymous Sage and Stone.
Amazing! You've given us an extraordinary experience with this Sir H! Listened to the great PTX rendition with all its little subtleties, then revisited the Andrews Sisters original, then other Andrews Sisters pieces and it turned into proper time travel in music! 💃🕺😃 Had the most enjoyable time! Your take on this is fabulous and fun 👌💯 THANK YOU Sir H!!! Beautiful!!! ❤ 🎶 💫
I’ve listened to this one soooo many times! I was to a jazz ensemble- a select group from our concert choir. This was one of my favorites ❤ And no surprise… Pentatonix did such an amazing job! Love it!
As others have said, videos definitely draw more views, but I love some of their songs that don't have one so please feel free to include those as you've done here. Your analysis is always enlightening and appreciated. They have another duo where they use a similarly older song, combined with newer in Hey Momma/Hit the Road Jack. It's another clever combo they're so good at. A couple favorites of mine are some of their original songs: Sing - very different video and energy that many of their songs; Side (Mitch lead), Misbehavin' and Cracked (on Popspring), and finally, Happy Now - a very unusual video and a song with an interesting message. Someone else suggested Making Christmas and I agree that it's a fun seasonal transition song. Looking forward to your next reaction!
Yay! What a fun reaction! I was thrilled to see it broken down with so much detail. Thanks for the transcription. I'm glad they paid homage to the A.S, and then having modernized it. It's a neat alternative rather than Bell Tones or a massive, grand crescendo. Creates a different kind of grab. JMO Now the personal part: I love, love, love this! I'm not sure I ever shared with you, but I'm wheelchair bound; I have MS. Each day, I play my PTXercise playlist and this happens to be on it 3x. I "march" in place, while pumping my arms and legs for 4 to 8 miles a day. This song helps get those super high heart rates (180 - 190) for a couple minutes at a time. I found myself instinctively marching during your reaction.I know, seriously, who has a PTX exercise playlist other than me? Stay well and be healthy my friend. Thank you!
There is a core of people who are quite happy to watch reactions to PTX songs that don't have videos, but there is no denying that songs with videos (original material and reactions alike) will get more views. Personally, I love when attention is paid to these songs (especially PTX's "Light in the Hallway"). I'm so glad you got to experience Avi live. His voice, while fantastic on recordings, is so much more in person. Thank you for continuing our musical education.
9:46 "I wonder in how many he does a trumpet impression" Well, I know of at least one more instance, the song "A Little Space" ft. ATEEZ. I think it might be a Pentatonix original song, adapted slightly to incorporate three of the ATEEZ singers.
When I was a little girl I had a story record (I actually still have it!) about a bunch of mice in a garden who would put petunia hats on their heads & dance to the Waltz of the Flowers! Now, at 71, I can still see those little imaginary mice dancing in a garden whenever I hear that song! 🤗💕
Oh what a wonderful surprise! I have loved this song from the first time I heard it. Thank you for reacting to it. I think PTX did a great job covering it! Love the Andrew Sisters but was thrilled when PTX put their spin on it. I love another old time song by Roseanne Cash-Tennessee Flat Top Box. I always flip over to your reactions because they are spot on with the analysis, not to mention Your passion for music shows.
🌟👉There are several videos where they sang this "LIVE". Also unfortunately their audio only videos don't get as much attention. I guess fans just LOVE seeing their beautiful faces but like I said there are several videos where they sing this LIVE . 👉👉ALSO, They did "Waltz Of The Flowers" just that iconic music , no lyrics, and that is with Matt unfortunately there is no live video just audio. Its AMAZING what they do vocally just like Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy.
This has been a favorite of mine since i was a small kid,no idea why it’s always made me so happy, but it’s always made me smile and puts me in a great mood!! The Andrews Sisters were so much fun!! Such an old time throw back!! Thanks for checking it out! 🎶❤️✌🏻
I love this one! Heard it many times before. I am still hoping you do their cover of Waltz of The Flowers! Congrats on seeing Avi in concert! Hope you also get to see PTX soon also. Mitch has stated that Kevin can definitely go higher than he can. Who would have thought-
I liked them switching back & forth in the era effects. I would love to see you react to a couple of their originals that are on my list for days I need a “pick me up” “Sing” and “Happy Now”. I also love their gothic version of “My Favorite Things”. All have videos & Sing is filled with cameos of famous people interspersed with normal fans. It’s hard to catch them all on the first few watches. 😅 As always, I love your informative reactions. It never ceases to amaze me how many things you can hear at once! 🤯
Well goodness...found one I hadn't heard that got these old bones moving (well, as much as they can). It was a fun one. As for as Kevin's' trumpet, it can be heard in their cover of Rockin ' Around the Christmas Tree. Such a versatile group. Thanks for this goody. 😊
I've always enjoyed the Andrew Sisters' rendition of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, so was curious how PTX would do it the first time I listened years ago. At first, I wasn't at all sure I liked the juxtaposition of the classic with the more modern sound, but decided in the end that it added a unique variety to (as you pointed out) a song with a pretty basic chord structure whose repetitiveness doesn't become boring because the song is so short. I particularly like that PTX picked up the pace, just a skootch.
Just have to listen. Our beloved PTX! Haven't found another reaction to this, but ok I choose my reactors. So much fun. I actually prefer the fact that the whole song is not "muffled". You are appreciated. Greetings from South Africa
Great reaction as always, even if there are 100s of PTX songs I would have picked over this one lol. I always eagerly await your PTX reactions! Since we are officially in spooky season, I’d love your reaction to Making Christmas.. of course a hybrid of seasons song but the video to me will always be more Halloween. So fun!
That was fun!! It's only the second time I've heard that piece. I'd forgotten how they used the old '40's mic effects for parts of it. Avi's bass in this is outrageous! Loved that Kirstie got to shine in this one and show off her vocal skills. Highly recommend Rose Gold, The Greatest Showman, It's Different Now for more PTX without official videos.
It has low views simply because there is no video. People can listen through streaming or the album if they have it. Ptx is a groups who's fans still buy their cds. Many don't use youtube to hear their music. I personally like them bringing in the modern after the opening part. Ptx are pretty much known for taking old-school a capella and giving it a modern sound. Which is exactly what they displayed with the two different styles. Plus there's some a cappella purists who get upset when they add vocal effects sometimes. Even if they're still singing without instruments.
Pentatonix has some amazing vocals w/out videos! My two favorites are When You Wish Upon A Star and Once Upon a December! They are amazing! And in Once Upon A December they even recreate the organ sound like from the old carousels! 🎠 ❤
In my mind, there is a 1940's family gathered around the wireless listening to them in black and white. Transition to live , in colour, full fat PTX. Brilliant.
I like that they changed it up between the historical effect and a modern sound. It's a very Pentatonixy choice, lol. Great reaction. I do like to hear analysis of some of their lesser heard songs that get overlooked because there is no official video for them. I will go listen to the Patreon version with the live fan cams later on, that sounds fun!
Just watched your Avi video. I hope you heard some songs from the concert that made you want to analyse them here on YT! So glad you were able to go! I wish I could have gone, but I didn't have the money this time around. I was supposed to see him last time he was over here, but I had a family emergency and had to miss it. Third times the charm, so hopefully when he comes around again, I'll be there! 🤞
I think one thing you'll find consistently is that the songs where there is a music video will always have considerably more views than the songs that don't have one. It's pretty much human nature that something that has a visual component will always attract more attention than something that doesn't, and in the TH-cam world, not having a music video means that at least 90% of the people who normally react to something won't be paying any attention to it. It's kind of sad, since a lot of those songs are really interesting, but it's pretty understandable. Speaking of Kevin doing instrument impressions - check out A Little Space, either the official video or the audio-only studio version (my preference, as it has more of Kevin singing solo). I'm not 100% sure it's a trumpet/bugle, but it sounds like some sort of brass instrument.
@@Gwennedd I've also heard fans calling the instrument Kevin makes at the end of Havana a flugelhorn, but my first impression was always a muted trumpet, and given the cultural references of the song, that always made more sense to me. I'm not as familiar with the ins-and-outs of a flugelhorn as a trumpet - we had plenty of trumpets in band in junior high and high school, but no flugelhorns at all.
Their songs with videos tend to have more views than those without. Regardless, we're here to watch your reactions even to those without videos. You can never go wrong with Pentatonix, with or without video.
Since you say you are a classical musician, I have been waiting and waiting to see how you will review Pentatonix's cover of "The Prayer". I also think you would have fun with the "90's Dance Medley".
Love the analysis and I'm glad you're doing more with just the audio. Can I recommend: Michael Korte - Queens sing King (its a medley that feels like a mini musical) and Cynthia Erivo - Stand up ( the video clip, cause the backing vocals do some interesting things ) I wouldn't recommend the live (even tho people gush over it) just because I think that she was sick and didn't sing it the way she wanted to deliver it.
You should react to Once Upon a December. The song came from an animated movie called Anastasia. There is no official video just the song. It is a classical music sounding waltz, with Kirstie singing lead. When I listen to that album I listen to this song two or three times as loud as my speakers and ears can take it, before I let it go to the next song and finish the CD. They released it on their Christmas CD in 2020 during Covid I think. It is astounding how good it is compared to the movie. Another acapella group helped with the backing track. You will really geek out to this. The arrangement is unbelievable.
For some reason, I feel like you’d enjoy reviewing/reacting to Brendan Urie’s (Panic! At the Disco) best live vocals and his live performance of “death of a bachelor” from a late night show. It’s fantastic! He’s mindblowing. Cannot believe his voice and ability to play so many freaking instruments. It’s crazy.
Hello! I love your vocal analyzes of Dimash, without a doubt they are the best. It will be a pleasure to see you analyze Dimash performing the song Ti Amo Cosi, with appearances by Aida Garifullina and Lara Fabian. Please!
Hi Sir Hairless, I’m guessing TH-cam is showing me this video as an introduction to you because of this reaction. I was searching earlier for this song. I was introduced to it as a teen by Bette Midler. Thanks to TH-cam I can see The Andrew Sisters in all their glory. I did the research because I thought a young singer I’m following has the alto/contralto range of the sisters and I broached an idea with one of her collaborators to cover this as it hadn’t had a major cover since Bette. Now I see PTX did it recently. Missed that until now. The singer I’m referring to, is known for covering other artists as she sings mostly songs of the bygone years. A great example is this song from 1970 that she made with a different collaborator than I mentioned earlier. You may find her unique and quite good. I think I need to say in these times, she does NOT use pitch correction. The example song is We’ve Only just Begun originally by Carpenters. I have to assume you are familiar with Karen and Richard? Trust me, if I could I would Patreon just to have the access to the goodies. Don't know if you know them ...THE SWINGLE SINGERS. This is the Acapella group I cut my teeth on (a looong time ago) . th-cam.com/video/jHcNHL8AyfU/w-d-xo.html. Classical music was a huge part of the fidelity listening repertoire in our home and I remember singing along, as best as I could, and being fascinated that the human voice could do this Which brings me joyfully back to your channel again and again. I thank you Sir.
Sir....Sir.....SIR ! I wish you read this. I am getting somewhere. I follow you since SOS. I follow Dimash for 3 years. For a year he was the goat, after the most versatile vocalist, you agreed upon. Wrong. I have to go back to the goat, proving it by introducing an another goat for you. I wonder, how you missed him out. He is not a miniscule less than Dimash. Equals. They booth own their universe. He is the same age, coming from Wales. I had to listen to him some 30 times in 3 days, in order to read him, to dig him. He is the king Ren. I suggest, you start it with "HI REN". It's his SOS Thanks!
Also you didn’t do Honey freestyle iconic song, shame on you…and how dare you not. Haha. No worries, their other stuff is good, great even, I just love why and when they blew up and became more common knowledges

Oh for sure! Aberdeen was in close 2nd in a previous poll... I'm happy my first experience of it was live 🎶 Lovely song
@@SirHairless He has two versions of it! You should consider reacting to both and compare and contrast.
I love this one sooooo much! I kinda need to see the other live versions of this.
I think most fans have said it's a flugelhorn. Not totally sure they're right, but ...Kevin is still amazing with all that he can do.
@@Badger77722 I hear you. I've actually never heard a flugelhorn IRL ,so I have to just go by what others say.
✨✨.. very fun .. ✨✨
This is fun! Love your comments as always ❤ 😊
Great version. Fun listen. 😊
Yass I love the Andrews Sisters!!!
Their songs with videos tend to have more views than those without. Regardless, we're here to watch your reactions even to those without videos. You can never go wrong with Pentatonix, with or without video.
I like how they mixed the styles. It makes it interesting.
Recommend their audio track of Once Upon A December (Yule Log version).
Since you say you are a classical musician, I have been waiting and waiting to see how you will review Pentatonix's cover of "The Prayer". I also think you would have fun with the "90's Dance Medley".
I LOVE THIS!! GREAT JOB PTX!

I'm excited ❤
They are so good. You are amazing too. Your insight is always impressive. Have to join your patreon.
Thank you! Would be a pleasure to have you over there
7:01 😊 I like your breakdowns, how you show it instead of just saying it
🙏 🙌🏽
I grew up listening to the Andrews Sisters!
You should listen to Voctave’s version! It is in their Andrew Sisters Medley!
I prefer the non muffled sections. You can hear the individual parts more clearly.❤
It’s crazy.
Love it!
Hello! I love your vocal analyzes of Dimash, without a doubt they are the best. It will be a pleasure to see you analyze Dimash performing the song Ti Amo Cosi, with appearances by Aida Garifullina and Lara Fabian. Please!
Very fun!
The next song from the same record, Over the Rainbow, is also a hidden gem. Their Wizzard of Aaahs is great, but I prefer the former.
❤ congrats on 40k
Thank you 🙏
I can see The Andrew Sisters/Bette Midler coming through this version. Sounds great but a sucker for this song.
11:43 I feel like they kinda paid respect to the original with how they did it then made it a little their own 😊
Hi Sir Hairless,
I’m guessing TH-cam is showing me this video as an introduction to you because of this reaction.

Oo I like their "Blackbird / I Will" arrangement
Sir....Sir.....SIR !
I wish you read this. I am getting somewhere. I follow you since SOS. I follow Dimash for 3 years. For a year he was the goat, after the most versatile vocalist, you agreed upon.
Wrong.
I have to go back to the goat, proving it by introducing an another goat for you. I wonder, how you missed him out. He is not a miniscule less than Dimash. Equals. They booth own their universe. He is the same age, coming from Wales. I had to listen to him some 30 times in 3 days, in order to read him, to dig him. He is the king
Ren. I suggest, you start it with "HI REN". It's his SOS
Thanks!
Omg I forgot about this! Definitely not a favorite but still decent
Yes, I know I'm aging myself...
Also you didn’t do Honey freestyle iconic song, shame on you…and how dare you not. Haha. No worries, their other stuff is good, great even, I just love why and when they blew up and became more common knowledges
