I can't tell you how much I appreciate your commentary. As much as it's fun to see people react and just say, "that was awesome" or whatever, dropping some knowledge when you notice things adds so much. I have enough background in music to care (I sang in chorale and played French Horn), but not enough to speak to some of their specific choices they make in their arrangements the way you can, and it makes me appreciate them even more hearing you articulate your thoughts.Thank you!
Thank you, really appreciate it! In that regard, I try to offer something other reactors don't - after all, there are only so many reactions people can watch each day! Oh and if I react to some PTX performances that aren't your favourite (like Forget You/Since U Been Gone), maybe now you won't wait check out the reaction (ha!) 😂
@@SirHairless Even in their rare shaky performances, there are glimmers of talent, so we don't mind that they are human. It's interesting to go to their concerts. Recently, they have taken to teaching parts of songs to the audience, and since most of their fans are singers and/or musicians, the whole arena sounds like a huge choir. In one recent concert, they had the audience sing a chorus, supposedly to warm up their voices. What the audience didn't know was that they were being recorded, and during the last song of the concert, Hallelujah, they played the audience singing with the song, and it was amazing. For Avi's low note you should watch Aha Singapore Star Vista. They star with Christus Factus Est and Avi hits a note so low I think it rattled the floor.
You've easily become my favorite reactor. Those reactors who have a musical background give such thought-provoking insight on how much is going on with each voice represented. Please keep up the great work!
Avi's ability to hit those low notes was honed as an opera/classical voice major at Mount San Antonio College in California, where he was a member of 3 choral groups - a chamber choir (which is where he got the idea of using "Christus Factus Est" as the "Aha!" opener), an award-winning choral group called Singcopation, and the notorious a cappella group Fermata Nowhere. He was actually offered a position as basso profundo with the Los Angeles Opera when he was recruited to join PTX for their appearance on The Sing Off. A good video to hear how effortlessly and resonantly he takes it low is his 2014 collaboration with Peter Hollens of "Black Is The Color of My True Love's Hair" th-cam.com/video/3oc1XuqzyGs/w-d-xo.html
This has become my new favorite ptx reaction channel. I love the depth to which you listen and pay attention to the notes and harmonies and what they’re doing. It’s so interesting to see from the perspective of someone who can really appreciate what they do. Also, one thing to say is you’ve mentioned a few times how good Mitch and Kirstie sound together which is definitely true! But the absolutely beautiful thing about the trio is how interchangeable they are. They are magnificent at switching the solo around and it doesn’t matter who is singing the background parts, the sound is always so rich and full. Mitch and Kirstie obviously blend well together with their ranges but Scott and Mitch do fabulous work while K solos and the same for Kirstie and Scott when Mitch is at the forefront.
Really appreciate it Emily 🙏 Thank you for watching. I've filmed a couple more reactions and have certainly noticed how nicely Mitch and Scott work together...in truth, every possible combination works a treat from what I've heard 😅
@@SirHairless There are certainly ENDLESS Pentatonix videos for you to react to, but if you get a chance, definitely check out the Superfruit channel. Mitch and Scott had a side project TH-cam channel/musical duo for a few years. There's plenty of great covers and the music videos to all of the original songs from their album Future Friends! Beyonce, Feelin' Myself, and Hip Hop Goes Broadway are all standout covers (plus like at least a dozen more tbh) Also if you do watch their videos, make sure to continue after the endcard! They usually include bloopers or fun behind the scene snippets and sometimes people miss them because they think the video is over.
@@emilyfaith4061 This isn't the first time someone's mentioned Superfruit so it's certainly on my radar 👍 And I love bloopers so this is even more exciting!
You have to do their DAFT PUNK medley reaction. It won them their first grammy. The video & vocal arrangement plus the several daft punk songs they blended into one is pure genius.. Looking forward to seeing your reaction 👍👍👍
Will do, David. Probably in the New Year as we have the festive season rapidly approaching and, from what I hear, Pentatonix have some good Christmas music out there...
One of my favorite Pentatonix covers is "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You." It's simple, no fireworks, but the arrangement is magic and the harmonies are mesmerizing.
I'm so enjoying your reactions! I like the pauses and analysis. If you want a glimpse of pre-babytonix you could search for the video "Trio Sings Telephone by Lady Gaga in Concert" on Malcolm James' channel. It is from the year before the Sing Off and is Kirstie, Mitch and Scott in a High School concert. The videos of the 3 of them back then got them somewhat well known by other singers, and I remember an interview where Avi said he had seen the videos before he joined up with them, and I think Ben Bram, their arranger, who is the one who encouraged Scott to form a grouo for the Sing Off (and worked on the show) had seen them too and suggested Scott base the group around that Trio with added bass and beatbox.
Thank you, appreciate you watching! To let you in on a little secret....that Telephone reaction is on my list of upcoming reactions to do! The pre-PTX videos were brought to my attention in my last video, and I chose Telephone to start with 📞 I can't wait to get round to listening to it
Also because they had no money…they did have the $200,000 from the sing off, but their record company had dropped them. So 5 people living on their own in LA…wow! They took a tremendous leap of faith and “we” are the beneficiaries…of their hard work! I’ve often thought how they went from parking garages to renting entire airport terminals and massive sound stages to create a snowy forrest, in just a few years!!!
As a classically trained singer, I love your theoretical commentary and analysis. And especially as a lover of early music (my thesis was on the evolution of music from prehistoric through the Renaissance), hearing someone on TH-cam use the term organum, and even going so far as to find an example(!), makes my heart happy.
Thank you, that's so cool to hear! A lot of my favourite music is owed to the Renaissance; particularly Josquin des Prez, Palestrina, di Lasso, Tallis...the list would go on and on
If I remember correctly this was the groups first track post sing-off and just after the company reneged on the contract that they were supposed to get from winning the competition. I've been told that it was filmed on a go-pro in the bottom of a stairwell. So to hear the quality of the sound considering the equipment that it was recorded on is absolutely incredible. I love watching these older videos so we can see how much they have improved over the years.
If you want to hear some of Arby's lowest, and some of Mitch's highest you want to listen to Aha live at Singapore. But you might want to strap in it's a real ride
All us Pentaholics know these videos off by heart, so hearing you break them down is wonderful. I'm a fairly seasoned musician, but you are teaching me things I didn't know.
See, I learn something every time with you! I didn’t know there was such a thing as Supertonic, which suits them so well. Dare I say they have moved into their Supertonix phase? That’s rhetorical. The answer is yes. Love, love, love your reactions and analysis! Peace …
I love the "review as you go". You spend about the right amount of time explaining. Its so cool that you get blow away like we do. Thanks for explaining!
It's great that you don't just fanboy over them. There's nothing wrong with hearing something off, and saying so. Your technical knowledge, to me, seems absolutely above average... Above, above average. Loving the analysis and reactions. Keep it up, please!
Gotye ran into the guy that helps with the arrangements of the songs most of them anyway. He's the behind the scenes 6th member of PTX. Gotye said that he loves the arrangement they did.
Wow. I'm a classically trained singer and have done quite a lot of studies but your ability to pick out the details on first listen is remarkable. I chose another profession but your well trained ear makes me want to bring out the old study guides to brush up on my theory.
Thanks! I was doing absolutely nothing music-related so Sir Hairless was a nice re-introduction for me into the world of music 😀If you're missing it, do try and do something! Whether that be joining a choir or attending concerts 🎶
Great reaction, as always! I loved the Gotye song, and saw a reference to PTX on that video years ago. This was the first PTX song I ever heard, and I was immediately hooked. I love how they pick songs that fit their skills - not sure how to say that, but it's true. Others like this are Valentine, Papaoutai, Radioactive and Carol of the Bells. They sound like they were made for PTX to cover. The opening choral segment you mentioned is not surprising. Avi was deeply involved in many of their early arrangements, and he had studied opera performance and composition in college. He had seen a video of The Trio online and thought they would be fun to sing with. He had been in a couple of men's singing groups which had performed medieval choral music. A great example of his bringing this music to PTX was the opening piece to their live performance of Imogene Heap's "Aha!", where they begin with Cristus Factus Est, and then move right into Aha!. Please react to that - and please know that during Aha!, KEVIN IS THERE NEXT TO SCOTT! Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/aT2Nm4fYmI4/w-d-xo.html
@@SirHairless I have been holding my breath ever since suggesting Aha! ! Blue is not a good look for me. One more thing - I think one of the most interesting parts of this video is where Mitch and Kirstie come in part-way through the lines "right for me" and "company", even splitting the word company in half. My musical mind is weird, but that sounds so good, and I'd love to ask them why they thought to do it that way.
Really loving your reactions and commentary. After all this time as a Pentaholic, I’ve still been missing melodic/harmonic things you’re picking up immediately
I really, really enjoy your reactions! ❤ There's many voice coaches doing reactions, and a lot of them are really good. What I appreciate about your reactions, though, is your analysis of not only the voices, but of the underlying music techniques used. Your knowledgeable explanations and calm voice make watching your reactions a pleasure. (And I'm glad you stop the videos instead of talking over them!)
Thank you so much Sir Hairless! As others have said, I really appreciate your thoughtful analysis of these songs and how Pentatonix performs them. I’m not a musician, so it’s so nice to learn things about the arrangements that completely pass me by. If I were to recommend new songs for you to visit for early Pentatonix, I would suggest Can’t Hold Us (lots of fun) or Mary Did You Know or Hallelujah (both with great harmonies - to my untrained ear). Thanks again and keep up the great work
Im in! Subscribed for more, not just reaction, but analysis. Because when somebody knowledgeable like you explains something that I hear but I don't understand what I'm hearing, I am able to enjoy the music a whole lot more. See you in the next one! Cheers!
Babytonix songs for you to react to - 7th Performance (Born to Be Wild) and 12th Performance (Dog Days Are Over) from The Sing Off. Hallelujah, The Sound of Silence, Amazing Grace, The Prayer and Can You Feel The Love Tonight. Fun Videos are The Wizard of Ahhhs Featuring Pentatonix with Todrick Hall, Come Along and Daft Punk. One of the latest, and which so many people are reacting to, is Kiss From A Rose.
So thrilled that you are sticking to the early stuff. You will love seeing how they develop over time. Don't forget that they have early Christmas songs too and now is the season for them. The Christmas songs released BEFORE 2015, in release date order are "Carol of the Bells", "Little Drummer Boy", "Angels We Have Heard on High", "White Winter Hymnal" with an amazing hand-clap sequence, "Winter Wonderland/Be Happy mashup with Tori Kelly, "Mary, Did You Know", a huge hit, "That's Christmas to Me", "Silent Night", "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", "Hark the Herald Angels Sing", "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", "Sleigh Ride", "O Holy Night", "Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel", and "Go Tell it on the Mountain".
Welcome to the Pentatonix fandom, we are called Pentaholix, since we are definitively addicted to the sounds of PTX. First note: PTX does not do covers, they do upgrades. Second note: 95% of everything you here they do without electronic effects or enhancements. Really! If an instrument does get used you normally see it. Hey, acapella masters have the right to expand once in a while. My favorite recommendation is to have new re-actors go look at the catalog of PTX releases, start early years, and come forward. To get the full experience of seeing the growth of the group and to learn the names of each member. Now my challenge is to after looking at the catalog of PTX releases choose the song you truly think could not be done better than your favorite version and the song that you really do not like the original version. After listening to each, you will be a Pentaholix.
Based on your reactions & your vast musical knowledge, I'm going to suggest you do their "Evolution of Music" video. It's a journey thru music, done as a medley, live....& it's epic. There are other Evolution videos as well, that are basically medleys of an artist's catalog. Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, & Beyonce are the ones that blow your face off lol. All done live as well. One takes. Well, they generally do 3-4 takes & choose the best one. Their transitions in the Evolution videos are insane .whew chile lol!
I understand all Avi’s reasons for leaving, but in my opinion his classical operatic training is one reason the made it. He brought knowledge of musical styles and techniques that the trio had not experienced as child performers in local productions, he was the only one of them to have completed a firnal degree (Scott and Kirstie were college freshmen and Mitch still in high school. Kevin was musically trained (cello) but not in voice and it wasn’t his major. So he knew things like you are pointing out and brought not pop, not musical theatre, not high school/church choir knowledge. I think if their base had been from the sane musical background as the trio, they would have been much less interesting as a group.
Really enjoying your reactions as they are so different. I know next to nothing about music technically but your view gives me more appreciation for what they do. Spoiler alert: they never spread out the “mad bits” 😂
I’m really loving your reactions and lessons! You hear sooooo much more than I do, and it makes it so fun. This was the very first song that of theirs that I listened to back when it came out. Sadly, I missed out on years of joy because I didn’t really listen to them again (and now obsessively!) until 2021 when The Prayer cover came out. 💜
Appreciate your kind words! I really try to listen hard, and ngl it can be quite difficult and brain-tiring to do in the first listen 😅and there's always stuff I notice I've missed when editing, but that's all part of the challenge! Thanks for watching 👌And good to hear you're now a Pentaholic 👀
Thanks for the recommendation! There are a lot of Christmas songs to do and oh so little time in which to do them 🎄 If I can't get round to it, I'll be sure to give it a listen 🎶
Yay, I am so glad you did this one! Thank you 😊 And that was a fascinating analysis to watch too, you pick up so much. I really appreciate that you pick out what each one is doing individually, it's a bit like having magic explained 😅
Sometimes it's hard to hear Avi. I swear they turn down his mike, mostly because he can and has blown the speaker system. He has a beautiful warm chocolate voice that spans 5 octaves and when he gets a solo part, people are amazed. Try some of Avi's solo music for a surprise at how talented he really is. He's a prolific songwriter, arranger and tends to layer his own harmonies. Don't think you'll be sorry for listening to anything About does. Thanks!😅
I think in general PTX has their basses mic lower (at the start maybe for basic technology survival) but mainly because they mostly do pop. And most pop, unless when it's a big feature, doesn't really have huge heavy bass over the other sound. They use it as a feature sometimes, but for the general background bass they don't have the bass pulling focus. Which is probably what makes them more mainstream and easier to listen to for the general listener than other a capella groups. Because the bass and beat act like "music" and not as leads pulling focus. (with many obvious exceptions, but those are well choosen)
wow, thank you for teaching me to hear their parts. found you through Dimash but am enjoying learning about music in new ways here as well. your enthusiasm and ability to pick apart multiple part harmonies makes me wanna see you tackle Jacob Collier's Moon River
I really appreciate your breakdowns. like I really enjoy the insights and explanations of what you're hearing and how it all fits. it's really really cool! keep up the good work
Great reaction. Definitely Babytonix. They had low $$ for videos for beyond sitting on a couch or being in a group of 5. This is definitely one they tried some different camera stuff. Their arrangement and vocals are outstanding. I enjoy you noticing details on why and how they are amazing. Thanks for the technical music information without being stuffy nor taking an hour. Please react to more PTX. ❤
Fairly new sub here. Truly enjoyed all of your reactions to PTX Christmas music. Thought I would enjoy going down the Sir Hairless rabbit hole to watch your reactions to early PTX. And I have enjoyed them tremendously. Hope your new year is off to a great start!
New subscriber here... really liking your reactions and analysis. Not sure if you want to stay with the older stuff for awhile, but if not, i think you would enjoy their mini-documentary that shows their recording process during the recoding of last year's Christmas album. It is called The Recording of Evergreen if you are interested.!
Cheers, it means a lot! The Recording of Evergreen has been recommended to me so it's definitely on my radar; how soon I'm able to get round to it though, that's a different question. From what I understand, there's essentially limitless PTX content out there so I'll get round to everything eventually 😅
There are fa vids for each of them that have collected snippets to demonstrate each of their ranges, if you wanted to look around. Or you can just wait and see. I’m pretty sure their ranges have expanded so to maturity and regular training as adults. In Mitch’s case it’s also a matter of just letting go. In high school, the actual rules of competitions for school chorus and the reality of being a small gay boy in Texas did not encourage the use of his higher range. The show was also not supportive. But once they were on their own he began to work on it.
I love love love your reactions. Thank you! I learn so much. I look forward to every Pentatonix video you will react to. Their newest holiday album, which is mostly greatest hits of theirs, ends with 8 new releases which includes "O Holy Night". DO NOT react to "O Holy Night"(There is also an old "O Holy Night" they did years ago, which is less complicated). It is EPIC....but I'm not sure you will be able to handle it. I know other reactors who have had trouble reacting to it. So much going on.
Hi again! Love your reaction to this one, it gets overlooked sometimes! I would like to suggest Evolution of Beyonce, which will introduce you to their spectacular skill of transitioning between songs of different keys, tempos, and tone. There are multiple jaw-dropping transitions and movements within songs that will have you pausing delightedly throughout! I'm married to a composer and it's so fun to see someone else with musical knowledge finding joy in these little and big moments of PTX! If you're looking for a more modern PTX lineup song that showcases some fantastic bass and their skill at mashing up two songs, New Rules x Are You That Somebody is fantastic, and so is their super cool version of Havana, with Scott singing a sultry lead.
Thank you for your comment! This has been recommended to me before so it's on my radar - there's a lot of repertoire to get through (whilst also not neglecting recommendations to other artists' music) so I'll get there one day!!
Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole! You asked if Ago can go lower...um yes. He has broken speakers. He can also do this thing where he sings 2 different notes at the same time. I know there is a name for it but forget what it's called. The most clear example of this is when they perform "Aha" live. You can hear it at the Hollywood Bowl performance but amore fun reaction video is too Aha live in Singapore. The audio recording is from an IPhone but their performance, both Avid and Mitch is just insane. Something to add to the list to check out.
Thanks for the recommendations! Avi's singing multiple notes at once is called overtone singing - I've pointed it out in the videos I've seen where he does it
Avi does some incredible overtone singing in some other pieces like AHA! He did in live in lots of concerts. You really should check out Voiceplay for the lowest bass in the business. Geoff Castelucci is phenomenal. Try Valhala calling or Hoist the Colors for some great singing.
Thank you for your words full of knowledge! Please continue the good work and don't apologise for stoping if you find something interesting to mention! If you get to the Daft Punk medley, please listen the studio version and after there is the rawest preformance live in a dressing room, it would be a real testament of what they sing on the record, they can do live :) Thank you again, you are an awsome man, sir! 😊
Usually the interruptions irritate me but your breakdown and explanation add to my experience. I’m not musical but a music appreciation course I took in college ( 1974 🤯😳😜 ) made me an appreciative music lover of all types of music 🎶 : Baroque, a cappella especially 😊.
I think you should react to Scott and Mitch’s TH-cam group Superfruit - some of their songs and medleys. Their voices totally complement each other. They have some older medleys and several newer pop songs. Awesome!
Good to know! And hardly surprising haha 🎶 Just to clarify, in the thumbnail it's a literal question - not like "what would he think" because it's bad 😅

Avi was an opera voice major in college and has a lot of experience and knowledge of these old forms. I believe this was recorded by them on their own after their record label dropped them shortly after winning the Sing Off. The record company didn’t there was a market for acapella. Stupid move. They had all just moved to LA and had to decide what they were going to so. They were determined to not give up and started their own TH-cam channel and filmed their music on an iPad. This is one of their very earliest videos. They already had their style and sound that was so unique to only them

Superfruit... Scott and Mitch duo channel. Not a capella BUT being kind of a spin off subgroup of PTX, you could group them with your a capella group reactions, or a just a stand alone group. They are magnificent!!! They collaborate with other artists. I think you would appreciate their rendition of Katy Perry's Rise. They have evolutions of Beyonce, Rhianna, Lady Gaga, the tv show Empire Songs . Two of my faves are Nicki Minaj Feeling Myself and Hip Hop goes Broadway 1 and 2 ( well, three faves) They have bars and flows or whatever the rap lingo is. I don't understand all the musical jargon. I just love PTX, Superfruit, and mostly Mitchell Grassi. PTX cover Macklemore and Ryan Lewis Can't Hold Us and Ariana Grande's Problem. Mitch is a natural born rapper. Of course he can sing the phone book. They all can! I really enjoy the educational breakdown with your reactions. I'm learning things. And I'm sure you know by now they have originals. Popspring 2016 is a good intro to their original music and has a great Evolution of Michael Jackson. Anything done in the studio they can also perform live. This type of music is so impressive. I cannot get enough.

Cheers, I appreciate it! Yes I do like to keep information about myself private (sorry!) - but a very brief summary would be: I started playing piano when I was young, then with age I took up more formal education, but I think a lot of my musical training just comes down to listening to music a lot 😅I'm always listening to music of different genres if I'm not doing something else

Thank you! Really enjoyed that
This has become my new favorite ptx reaction channel.

@@emilyfaith4061 This isn't the first time someone's mentioned Superfruit so it's certainly on my radar 👍
And I love bloopers so this is even more exciting!
@@SirHairless Can't wait to see your reactions!
Definitely Babytonix! It's fun watching them grow up from old videos to their new ones.
The pre-PTX videos were brought to my attention in my last video, and I chose Telephone to start with 📞 I can't wait to get round to listening to it
@@SirHairless Can't wait!
Some of their songs are done in stairwells because of the exceptional acoustics in some of them.
That just makes me smile 😊. They are just very, very special.
Check out their latest release, A KISS from a Rose. Really great and shows their growth.
Thanks, it's been recommended to me a lot!
Can't wait to see you do hallelujah n sound of silence!
All us Pentaholics know these videos off by heart, so hearing you break them down is wonderful. I'm a fairly seasoned musician, but you are teaching me things I didn't know.
Avi singing two tone live.. is amazing!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 and his sings the hobbit song live too both incredible to see his talents
I forgot to add Avi is a Basso Profundo and is classically trained.
See, I learn something every time with you! I didn’t know there was such a thing as Supertonic, which suits them so well. Dare I say they have moved into their Supertonix phase? That’s rhetorical. The answer is yes. Love, love, love your reactions and analysis! Peace …
Didn't the SuperTonics used to play in the NBA.
Haha was waiting for something to get punny with Supertonix 😂 Bravo!
And thanks, as always, for watching 🙏
Hahaha... More respect! You're the first one I have heard in YEARS use 'punny'. Well played 🤣😂🥇!!
@@bomag5629 😂 Thank you haha
I love the "review as you go". You spend about the right amount of time explaining.
Its so cool that you get blow away like we do.
Thanks for explaining!
Their Evolution of Music will really leave you gobsmacked, truly
Avi has a degree in opera music. This is one of their first videos. They had No money. Standing together filmed on an iPad.
About Scott "cracking" a note, he likes to add "soul" sometimes. That's what it sounded like to me.
WOW. I could listen to you for hours. So interesting. I will defo be watching more of your reactions.
Clicked right away! I absolutely love your comments and analysis... a perfectly lovely music lesson. Thank you. 🤗
🙏🙏🙏
You've got such a refined ear. Thank you.
Absolutely loved this reaction- Thanks!
Thank you for watching!
Hey, thank you for watching and for the info 👌
@@SirHairless I have been holding my breath ever since suggesting Aha! ! Blue is not a good look for me. One more thing - I think one of the most interesting parts of this video is where Mitch and Kirstie come in part-way through the lines "right for me" and "company", even splitting the word company in half. My musical mind is weird, but that sounds so good, and I'd love to ask them why they thought to do it that way.
Avi's base blew out the speakers with their Aha! Live performance in Singapore. Mitch goes off in the performance. One of my favorite live!
Really loving your reactions and commentary. After all this time as a Pentaholic, I’ve still been missing melodic/harmonic things you’re picking up immediately
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this comment, means a lot!
My new favourite reactor! I appreciate your in-depth explanations, so much better than ‘wow that was great’ 😉
Thank you so much 😄
Thank you so much Sir Hairless! Thanks again and keep up the great work
The pleasure is mine. Thanks for watching 👊
Im in! Subscribed for more, not just reaction, but analysis. Because when somebody knowledgeable like you explains something that I hear but I don't understand what I'm hearing, I am able to enjoy the music a whole lot more. See you in the next one! Cheers!
Thank you Helen! I'm happy to learn that I can provide you with a bit more than just a reaction
I am a new fan of yours!! I love your reactions to PTX!! There are so many for you to catch up on ... they never disappoint!!
Thanks! I appreciate the support 👌
The evolution of music you would love ❤❤❤
I think you'd enjoy Avi's performance of "Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair" with Peter Hollens.
I am impressed of your knowledge. I like your singing also ❤
So thrilled that you are sticking to the early stuff.
Thanks, David! Watch this space as reactions to/analyses of these will be coming out in December 👌 They're already scheduled
Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Avi's new release, Healing ❤
This will be coming up fairly soon 👍
Thanks!
Thank you so much! 😊 🙏🏽
Thanks for this recommendation - I've received it a number of times so it's on my radar!
Loved the analysis!!!!!
🙌
I would like to hear your reaction to their cover of the live Vevo performance of Kiss From A Rose.
Thank you! And more mad bits for me then, not complaining 😅
This is their first viral video, it was recorded in their apartment building
I was waiting for you to mention the water drop sound that Kevin was making (right before the second big drop). I always listen for it ☺️💧
Haha was very unexpected
You should check out their original song Run To You. ❤
I recomend you their Evolution of Music video. They start in the 11th century. 😉
Sorely underappreciated!
🙏
Would love for you to react to Silent Night live in the cathedral. You get a special treat from Avi 😉. ( Who also arranged it I believe)
Thanks for the recommendation! There are a lot of Christmas songs to do and oh so little time in which to do them 🎄 If I can't get round to it, I'll be sure to give it a listen 🎶
Kevin... K.O.. his cover of "down" might blow your mind for the amount of talent 1 man can have!! ❤❤❤
Thanks for the recommendation!
Yay, I am so glad you did this one! Thank you 😊 And that was a fascinating analysis to watch too, you pick up so much. I really appreciate that you pick out what each one is doing individually, it's a bit like having magic explained 😅
Haha wow a comparison to magic 😂 If only I could magically squeeze 30mins of info into 10mins - so much to try and say in each of their performances!!
Yes for more Avi!
How do you hear so much‽ I enjoy listening to PTX, now I understand why. You fascinate me with your ability to explain what is going on.
Haha I don't know - just can! Thank you, glad you're enjoying!
wow, thank you for teaching me to hear their parts. found you through Dimash but am enjoying learning about music in new ways here as well. your enthusiasm and ability to pick apart multiple part harmonies makes me wanna see you tackle Jacob Collier's Moon River
Thanks! Unfortunately, I've listened to Jacob's Moon River dozens of times in the past 🎶 and, I'm sure, many more times to come
I really appreciate your breakdowns. like I really enjoy the insights and explanations of what you're hearing and how it all fits. it's really really cool! keep up the good work
Really appreciate it 👌Means a lot
Great reaction. Definitely Babytonix. They had low $$ for videos for beyond sitting on a couch or being in a group of 5. This is definitely one they tried some different camera stuff. Their arrangement and vocals are outstanding. I enjoy you noticing details on why and how they are amazing. Thanks for the technical music information without being stuffy nor taking an hour. Please react to more PTX. ❤
Thanks for the kind words! More PTX will be coming your way, next reaction coming Saturday so watch this space!
Fairly new sub here. Truly enjoyed all of your reactions to PTX Christmas music. Thought I would enjoy going down the Sir Hairless rabbit hole to watch your reactions to early PTX. And I have enjoyed them tremendously. Hope your new year is off to a great start!
Thank you so much! Hope 2024 has been great for you too
@@SirHairless you've become my favorite channel for music analysis and reactions! Keep up the excellent work!

The prayer... please react if you can make it through the entire song. Prepare to be 🤯
Aha live Singapore. Nuff said
For Avi's bass try Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Avi has blown out speakers
They’re so young here! Also, so much better than this 😂😂😂 I still love it though!❤❤❤
That's lovely to hear, thanks ☺ O Holy Night is one of my favourite Christmas tunes.........
I've enjoyed your video reviews of PTX! Please review Run To You, an original of theirs. It shows their growth & maturity by a year or two.
Thanks! It's on my list
I think the dissonance helps them sound so "big" with such a full sound.
Thank you for your words full of knowledge! Please continue the good work and don't apologise for stoping if you find something interesting to mention!
If you get to the Daft Punk medley, please listen the studio version and after there is the rawest preformance live in a dressing room, it would be a real testament of what they sing on the record, they can do live :)
Thank you again, you are an awsome man, sir! 😊
Thank you! I'll get to the Daft Punk medley fairly soon - it's on my list!
Usually the interruptions irritate me but your breakdown and explanation add to my experience. I’m not musical but a music appreciation course I took in college ( 1974 🤯😳😜 ) made me an appreciative music lover of all types of music 🎶 : Baroque, a cappella especially 😊.
Thanks! Wow, 1974 :o
That's cool - a lot of my favourite musical works are from the Baroque period
If you want to hear Avi going low, listen to Aha Live at Star Vista
PTX 🔥🤘
Avi goes low. He also does overtones most don’t realize but hear in their songs
I imagine these would also be difficult to hear when mic'd up
I think you should react to Scott and Mitch’s TH-cam group Superfruit - some of their songs and medleys. Their voices totally complement each other. They have some older medleys and several newer pop songs. Awesome!
I’d love to hear your reaction to their version of Hallelujah or Daft Punk.
Both on my list! Hallelujah likely to come sooner...
Actually I have read Gotye has heard it and likes it.
Good to know! And hardly surprising haha 🎶 Just to clarify, in the thumbnail it's a literal question - not like "what would he think" because it's bad 😅
@@SirHairless Gotye included PTX's cover in this huuuge mashup, Somebodies: A TH-cam Orchestra. The description box is worth reading.

They already had their style and sound that was so unique to only them
Yep. Ben Bram (their arranger) ran in to him somewhere and he had seen it and loved it!
The video from their new album will be released tomorrow. "O Holy Night" by Pentatonix. I hope you react to it!
Thanks! I unfortunately can't get round to it this year as schedule is booked up, but it'll definitely come in the future! When I saw the video released yesterday it took every ounce of strength to not click it to watch it 😂
Superfruit... Daft Punk and Bohemian Rhapsody are fan favorites. Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole. I'm just a little ahead of you. I recently discovered them and Home Free early fall of this year. This type of music is so impressive. I cannot get enough.
Thanks for the comment! We learn from each other 🤝 Superfruit has been mentioned quite a few times so I think I'll get onto them after the New Year at some point 🎶
ya need to check out Hallelujah if you want to be blown away by them

Hey SH! Again! 👋🏻
I was just rewatching some of your videos to look out for merch ideas for you and I found one! Yay! 😁
Do You Ogam
Because
I Sure Do
Does that sound suggestive? We don’t want that. I thought it was better than Let’s Ogam….together. That is very cringe.😬
I looked up this word and there are 2 different spellings so I am not sure that is right because Ogham was the start of Irish language or something like that….I mean I didn’t study it in depth, although I do have a friend from Ireland that I plan to ask about this word tomorrow, yet another one of my infamous comments on his YT page, why he finds me so amusing, who knows, could be the time I asked him if Ireland celebrated Halloween and Lawzy Me you would have thought I said something really, really bad, he was like, we invented Halloween Labeth. Well gee whiz, excuse me, I had Oklahoma History in high school NOT Ireland History. 😳 😂
And yes, I annoy others on the regular. 😁
I have added it to the list I have going for SH Merch, although it might need to be adjusted. 🤔
Later! T ✌🏻
How...? Can you comment on how ~exactly~ you sing your part within the others in such intricate arrangements...? Mind boggling.
To some people hearing the music in such a way is kind of like...I don't know, maybe like speaking another language? It makes sense to those who speak it but not to others who don't speak it!
The key to getting views is to attract us Pentaholics … the key to getting us to stick is to keep your reactions/analyses as interesting as you do. Well done. I appreciate that you want to keep your private life private but I would appreciate if you could summarize your musical training.
@@SirHairless Thanks. Was actually thinking of broad details like" majored in composition - sang/performed professionally for X years - not enough detail to finger you completely, but enough to understand where your ear comes from. I've listened to a lot of "reaction" videos from various others - I find you have the best analyses.
please review AHA filmed in Sinapore. Mitch in his glory and the lead in choral number has Avi at his lowest. Enjoy Enjoy ENJOY!!!!!!
If I remember right, this was recorded as a live performance in a parking garage. Those beat drops still get me, and Mitch's slightly haunting melody. I think Gotye would be embarrassed at how much better their version is than his lol.
That explains the bare-brick walls!
