Hell yeah go for the hvac addition. I get scrap from a hvac co that only does commercial and industrial jobs. They do some killer jobs. I know that Crain comming out is expencive. But that's part of the biz
As an employee, nothing is worse than a small shop becoming corporate.. Really changes the atmosphere in the company from a feeling like family to feeling and being treated like more of a number. It was the reason I left my last 2 jobs and a lot of other people as well. I don’t like it obviously but if I were in your shoes trying to grow, employee retention would be my number one goal along side, happy customers and profit. Not that my opinion matters, but I am rooting for you!
I get that. I didn’t like working at bigger shops either. At the end of the day I’m going to be the guy on top though and I just don’t think I have it in me to go to “corporate”. I mean I cuss like a sailor and am pretty rough around the edges you know. I’ll never forget how I got here and I know it’s my guys who did all the work. I’m with you on employee retention. I have guys I can trust and that is worth more than anything.
It’s a language we all speak. I can’t predict what my guys will do but I can connect them to the profits of the job and then I know what is in their best interest and it becomes a lot easier for me to know what my guys are going to do. When they know how they can get a bonus they seem to always hit the target lol.
I would like to go union but there really isn’t a benefit to it down here in Texas. I am a vested member from UA local 100. The unionist strong and has really small market share. I’m all about Union and I loved my time there but they can’t help me.
The best thing you can do is have a really productive career. I built up a reputation with a lot of important people over the years and once I started my business all of those people wanted to stick with me. If I wasn’t a supervisor/manager for years I don’t think I could do this as fast as I have.
@@chdaudAhmed you can do it just as easy as a tech. If you’re an all star technician you should get plenty of exposure to building engineers and property managers who choose the vendors they use. Most companies try to assign a company to one tech so that tech can get familiar with the equipment on that property and be more efficient over time. It’s common practice where I’m at for properties to follow techs when they change jobs as they are so invested in that technician it would cost too much to wait for another technician to come out and learn the property. It works the same when you start your business. If they like you they will want to stick with you.
The way you created it, is the way every good company is made, only way to get good guys is to pay them right, and to take business is nothing personal, it’s just business
