    Texan here. A master plumber (shop owner) once said that the only thing worse than dealing with customers are employees 😅 Have you found any issues managing the guys or finding the right guys? Maybe your take on an upcoming 📹. Enjoy the content thxs.

      @@terry6665 a little bit of issues here and there but for the most part my guys are incredible. I’ve fired three people and none of them made it past two weeks. I’m quick to hire but even quicker to fire. If someone’s a shithead I’ll sniff them out pretty quick. I typically go with the route of buying guys loyalty. I try to do a raise every 6 months for guys and give them random thousand dollar plus bonuses. I can usually pay them off to keep them happy.

      @@brasshouse9822quality of employees and retaining employees is where most blue collar owners fall short and never make it past a 3 or 4 man crew. The biggest thing I see is being an old mean unfair crusty bastard. You being younger and tough but fair/logical is doing you alot of good.

    These residential companies charge so much because they put so much money in marketing. Once they pay for lady answering phone, truck, gas, marketing, bloated number of workers in the office, etc etc they have to charge a stupid amount. So it’s just a bad business model / too much fat in certain areas and then it breeds stupid fucking sales meetings and sell sell sell blue collar crap…
    Makes for a Huge demand for one guy and a truck business model…

    Do you recommend a young guy to go to college over plumbing. Even know with how much money you make? Like if you could do it all over again, would you still go into plumbing?

    • @brasshouse9822
      @brasshouse9822  หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@brycet6149 I don’t necessarily recommend going to college unless you’re going for a particular reason. Like if you wanted to get into finance, medical, legal, and stem jobs then sure I would definitely recommend that over being a plumber. But even me knowing what I know now I don’t know that I would recommend plumbing even for myself if I could do it over. Very few plumbers make the money I make. Very few made what I made before I started my own business. If you’re the guy that can make the same amount of money I make in plumbing you’re the kind of guy that can make millions in real estate if you stuck with it for a couple years. You’re the kind of guy that can make millions selling cars if you stuck with it for a few years. Because I have really good focus and I’m able to understand value and how to add value to what I’m selling no matter what I did I would’ve wound up making a lot of money. I’m definitely in the top 1% of plumbers when it comes to income. I’m maybe cracking the top 50% when it comes to bankers, doctors, and lawyers. That’s the difference

      Little known fact, the cost of college has far outpaced the average rate of price inflation---and the average is through the roof. Sure fire way to make money is buy low, sell high, and college is sky high.

    • @brasshouse9822
      @brasshouse9822  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@treenopie depends on how you do it. I have a friend who makes 400k/year in HR working for an oil company. She went to community college for an associates and then 2 years at a state school to finish her degree. At the same time the two richest people I know both dropped out of high school and started businesses like I did. It just depends on the person I guess.

    • @AsviniKumar4747
      @AsviniKumar4747 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @treenopie that's not a little known fact. Regardless we should stop hyping up the trades when most guys won't make over 100k for the first decade or more, if ever. Meanwhile an engineer, accountant, nurse can all make 100k after 5 or 6 years.

      I don't think anything should be hyped, jist present it as it is. However...
      The trades, and entrepreneurship have taken a back of the bus seat to college for a long time and, in my opinion---and hope---the tide is turning.

    Man, I love your videos! I do have a question if you could answer for me please. Is there a easy way to find my hourly rate when I’m just starting out? I understand the margin pricing but, I’m confused on what my labor rate should be. Thanks!

    • @brasshouse9822
      @brasshouse9822  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@johnnyfreeman7926 it depends on the size of the crew your pricing for. If it’s just one man, I say about 550 to 700 a day. If it’s two guys I go about like 900 or so, three guys go up to like 1250 to 1300 depends on the pay for the guys, but a normal guy makes $45 an hour at my company Which is like 350 a day but after payroll tax and vehicle and shit I figure about $550 a day. So a job that takes $100 in parts and 5-6 hours I would figure my labor cost at 550 and figure a little extra in material so like $150 which would get me to $700 cost and then I’d sell it at $1400. That’s a pretty cheap price for a five or six hour job to the customer and you doubled your money for the day.
