I play very amateur pool but learned how to play from my uncle who was a legendary snooker ball player in New Jersey and I love how I know the shoes the pros are going to take. Shane is awesome and I would love to meet him and play against him once for the heck of it if course I know I will loose but it will be fun. Keep up the great games Shane
Robert Hunter The commentator says a deaf mute managed to develop into a great player. At 19:08 it is explained that he didn't start speaking until he was 3 years old and how difficult it was. So it was meant that he managed to overcome his speaking trouble, is still deaf, and is now one of the best pool players in the world.
Robert Hunter Right you are correct. Shane had speech issues in his youth, but he has pretty much overcame that. He has high-powered hearing aids, but he spent a long time as a young child without sound. That's a lot of adversity to overcome. Shane is the best pool player in our generation
@@garygwinn4256 Shane is not the best. I can play just as good and I don't play professionally. He is one of the top 100 worldwide professional players. There are probably thousands of people that can play just as good if not better that cannot afford to play professionally.
Sorry if this is dumb but I always thought 8-ball racks had to have solids in every corner. In this league, is it just the 1 in the front and the 8 in the middle?
so when did Shane started doing the soft high five instead of a hand shake? noticed that also before his us open 8 ball match against Bustamante. is this a thing he do to familiar players?

Maybe strategy wise but that's not the main reason why we should watch....more safety play/having to bump more balls/having lots of balls to shoot at/SUPER easy pockets with all short shots makes 8 ball Very very random. The tables need to all be 9-10 feet (for shot difficulty/publicity from the general public) and the pockets need to be the same width to ball ratio as snooker. Pool is just sooo luck based right now... The difficulty of the game based on random chance means nothing, difficulty based on tough shots will usually give you the better player. It's their fargo rating. around 780 and up is considered world class. Shane is currently number 1 in the world. I think his rating is like in the 820s.
The % is just the percentage they have for winning the match at that point, based off their fargo rating and the current score. How is fargo rating assigned? Just from playing in fargo rated events. I am only half way through the match, but want to say; without doubt these announcers make one of the very best teams I have every heard in pool match. Not even sure yet what it is, but you are great! Now lets watch the rest of the match. BTW, I am very much an SVB fan.
Didn't they call Tom Cosmo, "The Cosmo Rocket".? Saw him play an exibition at Ralphs Pool Hall in Pinellas Park, Fl. He was with Minnesota Fats. That was late 60's. Never heard Cosmos' name again until this video. He did a lot of trick shots.
Danny DiLiberto brought him up quite a bit in the Accustats videos going back to the 90’s, as there is a term in pool called “ a cosmo” it’s an easy runout! Danny D would mention him and how he glided around the pool table entertaining the crowd while running out as Cosmo would set the balls up that way! That is where the term came from Cosmo nickname!
@@MALTHEMASTERBARBER Hey thanks for the info....always wondered about what happened to him. Those guys gave a very funny show. The break shot has enough power to get the balls rolling. The magic rack does not keep the balls together so strongly, but as you could see a few times it can effect the balls path if it's moving slowly and can be anoying if it gets stuck under the balls. It gives a tighter rack so the balls spread better around the table which imo outweights a few predicaments it has.
Breanna Thompson I commented that earlier watching a match between Allison fisher and aiming Chen. The magic rack messed with the natural path of the balls like every single rack, it was bad
An old school rectangular wood rack is usually not very good at getting a tight rack but is gone after the break. Where as the magic rack gives you tighter balls but you have to deal with it's presence after the break. Pros and cons to each.
