To think someone could win a championship in 1983, and then be selected for the 2022 Mosconi cup America's team is simply amazing. Real shame he wasn't able to play.
I used to hate Earl, but I am really starting to love the guy. What a player, so much knowledge and raw ability. He has to go down as one of the best players in our lifetime.

@@pechinma @pechinma Those three are very iconic 8 ball players, really are, I personally have noted them many times, but SVB, Reyes, and younger Ko in my opinion have very large tournament wins, which is why I consider those 3 to be the very best 8 ballers, then there is bustie, darren, hohmann, alex pagulayan, Melling, Hatch, Seigel, Archer, Ronnie O'sullivan, Lin ( I believe that's his name? I forget some chinese and taipai players) I would say is my favorite 8 ball players of all time, with SVB and Reyes being the best, and the 3 you mentioned probably the next in line. Archer and Melling I rate highly, as well as Pagulayan, has played some of the best 8 ball to watch.
These legends are running racks like legends yet the commentators can't shut up with how Shane and Earl are playing every shot wrong, shooting the wrong order, hitting the balls the wrong way, on and on. Someone send a memo the commentators that this isn't their match. Also we want to hear what Earl is saying to the referee and the crowd, but naturally the commentators are rambling over the room audio about how they would play the match better.

Would of liked to see Shane and Earl player each other both at their prime. Earl can still play, however in his prime he was a machine. SVB is more calculated and probably better suited for 8 ball, however earl would of been the better 9 ball player. Both of them are 5 time US 9 ball champions.
I love the relationship SvB and The Pearl seem to have. In between racks they chat and laugh. I saw them together in the Mosconi Cup and SvB was the only one able to keep Earl focused on playing.
I don't care if these two commentators are good friends or not they sound like they're arguing throughout this entire match! It was a huge distraction that took away from a great match between two of the best players in the game!

15:17 - I thought no three stripes or solids should be touching when racking? There are three stripes at the bottom of this rack on the left. Also I thought the two balls directly under the 8 ball shouldn't be both stripes or solids? Both are solid on this rack (rack 3)
I don't know if there were differenr rules for the rack in this match but all I've seen is that the 8 is dirctly behind the 1 in the third row and the corner balls don't match.

these comments by these "old" dudes about Earls' age smacks of jealousy! Now billiards is considered a SPORT! Therefore… you must keep yourself in "shape" with visits to a gym or working out at home. Those days of "wine and song" are past. The enjoyment of playing ALL DAY has become the standard. Winning tourneys AND private ($) matches is common place now. There are players now advanced in age who can outplay younger pros due to being "in shape" and that desire to win!
There was a Medieval Times troupe in town, and one of the jouster's had accidentally left his lance behind. Earl was gracious enough to lend him his cue.
These two commentators drive me crazy with their arguing.. I turned down the volume so I can enjoy the game. They do this every time and should be removed from the coverage
