I just forwarded this video to a friend who I was trying to help, at his request, in my hitting bay. You video shows exactly what I was trying to convey, but in a much more professional and instructive manner. Thanks.

A thoughful examination Mark of the do's and dont's of hitting the driver for the recreational golfer. Your capacity to maintain interest and keep it simple......was a credit to your many years as a golfing instructor. One of the better vids out there amongst the many.

Left ear to the ball, right hand off, and then introduce the right hand from the side resulting in tilt....GOLD sir. I was working with my 11yr old last week to develop the tilt and setup with driver, and you put it perfectly with no overcomplication. Kudos to you again for straight forward, incitefull tips that all can use and learn from.

9:50-ish point ... when you are demonstrating the different forms of bad swings. I think through people I play with (and probably me, I just don't see me) and recognize almost each one. Your ability to mimic all of these mis-hit styles is truly brilliant. So informative. Keep these videos coming!

I've been a subscriber for a long time, since the Golf Guru days, and I can't believe how much quality content Mark has consistently put out over the years. The amount of work that must go into coming up with video ideas, planning and recording them, editing, etc. is just mind-boggling! Amazing stuff as usual, keep it up.

This is a brilliant video. So much to unpack so I'd advise people to watch it a few times. I really liked the ball position part as I can get stuck a bit here. I struggle most with driver and I want to get back to it being the fun club I know it can be to hit.

Yeah good stuff. I have made every amateur mistake you mention over the years. I am now having weekly hour lessons. Which has improved my game completely. But my handicap is still going up as it takes time for the transition to bed in. However the game is much more enjoyable sometimes lol.

Solid video on cause and effect!! The slightest alterations have a huge effect on the outcome of a shot. Good and BAD! Inside the left heel or even slightly back should be the ticket. Never forward of that. It makes a player lunge and cut across the ball. Your fine video emphasizes this beautifully.

This excellent. Half of the battle to hit good shots is a proper set up. I sometimes see people set up in such a way that I know I am going to see a bad shot. They would have to be magicians to hit good shots from some set ups.

Yep, solid tips gave me improved performance off the tee last wknd. I also found that the feeling of a slower swing speed resulted in longer, more controlled yardages and even brought in more of a draw bias for me. No need to smash the granny out of it and risk misdirected shots as a result.

Great lessons as always Mark. I have a swing that de-lofts all my clubs and no matter what I try nothing sorts it long term. My irons are fine with good ball contact getting it up in the air but I have always struggled with my driver flight being very low: it's great when its dry or on a links course but in the wet or on a hilly course i'm better with my 6 iron. I went for a lesson recently and whilst chatting to the pro he set up a 12 degree driver and added 2 degrees loft - what a revelation as it flew high and long. Now all I can look at on the internet are new shiny drivers with variable loft.

Another great video Mark. My driver has been on the naughty step for awhile and I have relied on my 3 wood. However, it doesn’t give much flex if I have an off day. Therefore, going to get back to working on the driver with these tips and hopefully get it back to where it was - which is what made my handicap come down due to being able to hit shorter clubs into greens!

this is crazy I have such a Horrible slice and i got my driver out in my front room and just set up like i normally would and as i watched your video and all the things i was doing look like they are causing a slice. You literally made it feel so imple rather than too complicated and when i set up like you showed it just felt so more natural! I am going to the range tonight to make things more neutral and really try to fix this slice as its ridiculous. Im not talking just missing the fairway here im talking going 2 -3 fairways right to the point i literally have give up on driver last few weeks and only hit irons!

Not really sure how I pull it off but one time after a few beers and always failing with my driver I decided to play my driver with the ball WAY out in front like you showed in your example. The inside of my thumbs are both on either side of the grip respectively and it almost seems the harder I swing the straighter it goes🤷🏽‍♂️. I don’t question it and smash away. I have since kept that grip for the rest of my irons (except ball position is more in the middle) and they have slowly improved. The only clubs I can’t really do that with are my hybrids, they seem to leak left on me. Great video as always thanks.

Hi Mark, thought I would give some feedback on your driver setup tips. I watched this video on Friday and took these thoughts to the range on Saturday and Sunday. Playing off of 9.8 I am quite a steady golfer but now trying to take it to the next level. My driving has always been my nemesis to the point in comps I would hit 3 wood off the tee rather than driver. Working through your setup drills particularly introducing the trail hand from underneath the results have been incredibly. With the club championship this Saturday and Sunday coming I will definitely taking the driver out with me. Thank you for sharing your tips, keep them coming. Thank you again Mark, Best Regards. Steve.

How about a teaching tip, or two, or three, or as many as you deem necessary, in hitting the ball before the turf with an iron. Especially avoiding hitting the hozel when doing so.

Great tips! I noticed thst iI really struggle with keeping my shoulders square to the target (from this I bet you know I generally go 'over the top' and slice my drives), so have purposefully started closing them a little, which now results in a slight left, albeit straight shot. My miss is still a slice, but mostly a lot less vicious 👍

    My lesson last week.
Ball way in front of front foot. Grip too strong and feet aimed for a 60 yard draw and not shifting weight to left side 🤣 .. was seeing quick left hooks, skied shots .. just gradually happened over time since last lesson and I don't see my swing on camera enough to catch it..
Weakened the left hand grip. Moved the ball back and moved right foot forward and went out and played some of the best golf I've played this year. The weight shift and rotation are longer term things to work on
