    Body shaming is wrong but In the disguise of Body positivity, obesity shouldn't be promoted. This is a real and serious issue with the society, especially in the societies of developed nations.

      @Anjana Rani Lizzo just has criticized one part of it i.e. commercialisation, but the things you and I are speaking is far from discussion in the mainstream.

      @Anjana Rani Well you seem to not understand body positivity all together if this is the point you are raising. Even if a person is obese and feel good about his own self. Thats body positivity. A person should not be shamed for being obese by media or people because for some people it is also just health conditions. Pcos and Pcod are real. You should work on you body weight only if it poses you health risks or you are not happy with it. But ofcourse media and people take it otherwise. You may not have suffered through fat shaming to starve yourself, even if you are perfectly healthy.Your comment does depicts that. Also side note. If someone does loik fat it doesnt necessaruly mean he is unhealthy many skinny people are unhealthy body is much complex than just how big you look. Basic science, research it up.

    • @blah6720
      @blah6720 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @Anjana Rani Why is obesity not good if it isn't harmful to your body?If someone is cool with being obese who are you to judge if that body weight is "okay" or not. Yeah the explaination is still pretty vague and still depicts obesity "not okay". If you are 'morbidly obese' then thats a issue. Its in the term itself 'morbid' meaning 'lethal'.More some open mind and healthy thinking about others and considering obesity as human and "okay" is also part of being healthy individual. P.s vague explainations requires huge "syllabus". 😂Lol i don't even know what you mean by that but I presume long paragraghs which u still cant seem to understand. Anyway your statements are funny to read. Good entertatinment.

      @@blah6720 obesity in itself is a disease obesity poses various life threats like diabetes being on the chubbier side is ok but being obese is not something to be made fun off but to be made aware off Some major threats posed by obesity are heart attacks,high cholestrol blood pressure and diabetes.Obesity decreases the metabolism of the body thus decreasing a person's activity and oxygen absorption. An obese person has more chance to get such problems and that's why the person should be made aware of.

    • @blah6720
      @blah6720 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Anjana Rani Obesity is just prone to risk factor only if u fall in category of "morbidly obese". Also if you term unhealthiness with being fat, I would suggest you do some research or just read book. You are very uneducated at this. And yes i am disappointed at you stupidity. Basically you still didn't understand my comment and are posting information that is just basic. The commentbwas not denial of health risk. Its was you incompetence if understanding that these health risks are not just fat based. Its diet based. Well I just got a big good look at dumb mind of your. Thank you for existing. Your stupidity entertaining.

Even average people with even a slight muffin top are insecure these days due to the so called 'Divas' and 'Adonis' we so commonly see on platforms like Instagram. I tire quickly, I get short of breath easier, I'm less agile and the added weight has started to strain and hurt my knees. The only body images that the media and fashion industry should be promoting are the healthy ones. This of course does not mean a narrowly defined set of weight to height requirements, because of course everyone is different. But when you find that your low body weight is also making you weaker, or your extra body weight is making average activities more difficult, then you need to deal with these as a critically thinking person, and not from some place of denial.

    Thing is that Americans are actually deluding themselves when it comes to sizes. Simply take a tape and measure yourself (bust, hips etc) and then look at the sizing. It is rather fascinating. Where I am from, I am either M or S. In the US I would be size zero....I am really not size zero. I have curves and hips. Please be more honest with yourself. Also, body positivity may sound great but plus size ladies and gents usually also battle serious health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure etc which is being swept under the rug. Accepting weight such as this is not being positive about your weight. This is dangerous. To accept that one does not look like a super model and being okay with it is good but don't try to hide your weight problem behind so called body positivity. If you are are xxl (because that is what size 14 means) then you actually have a gigantic problem and it is probably already biting your ass.

    I think as long as your own body is not causing health problems for example obesity, we should accept our body.
    Body positivity should encourage things like being happy with your body inspite of being disabled, or some conditions you are born with ,something that you can't change and have to live with your whole different.
    People shouldn't shame those who are fat(excessive)but it is for those people to decide whether they want to lose weight or just be prone to problems that are caused because of their obesity.

    Be happy with your body, but hit the gym too. Gyms aren’t just for losing weight or gaining weight.

    It is always profitable to watch Gravitas news and views, as they are based on well reasoned thought.

    A big shout-out to all the people in the comment section who shared this rare information that 'obesity is not healthy'. Nobody is perfectly healthy all the time. I am a so called healthy weight person but I am terribly unhealthy and guess what it really helps when people say it my face that I am not healthy. So thank you genius.

    Body positivity now : I am plus size and I am going to normalise fatty unhealthy body.

    Good job in taking on this sensitive topic! Women from patriarchal societies like in India are now coming out more and are having discussions on topics like this. They still have a long way to go since there are very few feeble voices in the political space in the country about similar issues since mostly men control the narrative!
