    I'm still on Melinda's side when she told everyone Harry kissed her. Bc Harry is a huge manipulator and had already started to get people on his side and told everyone Melinda lied about the kiss and just wants clout. So Melinda had to clean her name! And I don't believe in the concept of a third person being a homewrecker who should be ashamed bc the only homewrecker is the one living in the home aka Harry and he got away with many people believing his side and supporting him. He did the same on his season THTH when he kissed his partner (and therefore lost money) and told everyone she was the one who persuaded him so everyone in the house litterally bullied her and made her the villain and he let it happen with a cheeky grin. I don't like him

  • @mellamobrittney
    @mellamobrittney หลายเดือนก่อน +1083

    Possibly an unpopular opinion.
    To preface: I don't necessarily enjoy Melinda as a reality TV show "character." I think she tries entirely too hard, and it's a little too cringe for my liking. But, I just have to say this: Melinda got way too much smoke for doing what everyone else does on these ridiculous dating shows.
    So, she "tempted" Harry. Not to be callous, but ok? Was that not the entire reason that lineup was brought in-to wreak havoc, stir up drama, and shake the foundation of the established couples?
    Christine was intent on kissing Kaz, and went about it in the most relentless way possible. In front of the whole group, she was on that man like white on rice. He was in a solid relationship with Micah, was he not? Yet, no one treated Christine the way the whole house treated Melinda. Also, when Christine was all over Kaz and the other guys were watching, I remember Harry saying something like, "I would've folded already, even if I had a wife and kids." The man is an absolute menace, yet was able to convince the whole house that Melinda was the problem?
    Also, to my recollection, Jess asked Melinda-in front of all the other women-to explain what transpired between Melinda and Harry. Then, after Melinda explained, Jess became upset that Melinda did what she asked her to do? Lol. Jessica's anger was completely misdirected. She should've saved some of that energy for the man who was telling her he loved her and wanted to be a father to her daughter.
    The whole thing was just so irritating to me. When it was finally revealed that Harry did, in fact, kiss Melinda and even went as far as saying that he "wanted to f her so bad," and create tall/athletic children with her (which was a super weird "get out" type of thing to say, btw), no one even acknowledged the fact that they'd all stood in solidarity with Harry and accused Melinda of lying for clout. Typical misogynoir for these types of shows. Disappointing, but not unsurprising.
    Side note: Melinda wasn't speaking in "trendy" internet lingo. She was using AAVE, like many black people do. Most of these so-called "internet phrases" are simply AAVE gone viral. You know, like "whew, chile," "spill the tea," "on fleek," etc? It's not "internet slang," it's just the hijacking of black culture/black culture becoming mainstream 🙄
    Edit: typo.

    Melinda is the douche of the season over Harry?? Melinda was upset that Chris didn’t choose her because he implied on the date that he was going to. Also, Harry seriously downplayed his relationship to Melinda plus the girls were supposed to flirt with guys to try and get the guys to choose them over their current partner. She’s not a homewrecker, she was just doing what she was supposed to do

      Melinda was just doing what production wanted her to be doing. She was a host on another reality show so is aware of producer shenanigans. It just seems more playing the character/role because she knows this stuff is not that serious. She'll keep getting on these shows because production will find her easy to work with and delivers what they want.

They are on a tv show, what convo would have been private. All the girls were “telling” on the men. That was the point for bringing the other folks back. She said that Harry had kissed her first and then mentioned about being worried about the cameras so she reassured him that there was no cameras around and that he could kiss her again. Jess wanted to embarrass, exspose and put melinda on the spot by instigating the convo the way she did the "they already told us so YOU tell us yours"....what upset and triggered her was that she (for some reason) was stupid and chose to believe Harry 🙄 she was upset harry embarrassed her during her gotcha moment by not telling her everything and that it was melinda, a black woman, who "pulled her man"
    Harry has a similar issue because it was disgusting the way he and the others talked about her. They trid to erase her femininity as well with her credibility. Then a majority of the guys knew he was wrong and continud to defend him and and say problematic and prejudice shxt about her.
    Melinda was a bombshell....just like Hollie, Britan and Christina....they were doing heir jobs and following the rules. dylan, i love you, but i think melinda being in the wrong about the harry situation is uncalled for and goes way deeper than that. i do agree that melinda came in strong and i didn’t care for it either (same with christine, but why she didn’t get the same smoke is because of her lightskin privilege), but also that’s kind of the point of them coming in. they’re trying to get a man/woman. everyone was doing the exact same thing melinda was doing so how come it’s not ok when she does it? and jess should really be mad at harry because he was the one who owed her the loyalty. also, jess outright asked her in front of the rest of the girls what happened, so for her to say that it wasn’t respectful of melinda to speak her truth in front of the others is out of pocket. and how come harry got to walk away with no consequences but melinda was being talked down to that whole time??
    furthermore, harry straight up gaslit melinda and lied to everyone in the house about what went down, and was STILL commemorated at the finale for finally telling the truth that he had been denying this whole time. and they never gave melinda an apology.
    to my next point, melinda using this “online/trendy” language is just her using aave that people took and made mainstream. and i’m sorry, but as a black girl, i strongly dislike jess because when melinda was using aave during the finale, she tried to silence her and acted like she was doing too much. she did same thing with tolu in the post-show interviews and rolled her eyes and was being a racist mean girl. and what annoys me about it even more is that it’s ok for her to use our vernacular, but when an actual black person does, she catches the fattest attitude.
    honestly and truthfully, black people, especially black women, aren’t treated fairly by most cast members and producers in reality tv (tbh, in tv period), so this whole topic about melinda just triggers me, especially considering that i am a black woman who has been discriminated against on several occasions. some people may claim that this has absolutely nothing to do with race, but the sad reality is that it absolutely does.

    Mel, Jess, and Harry break down: - I have the biggest problem with how Jessica and Harry went about the situation with Mel. I didn't like it. Harry uses weaponized incompetence, he's literally a 3-year-old and Jess falls for a baby. She acts like his mother. When all the girls were at the table, Jess said she knew everything, and with that, Mel thought Jess knew about the kiss. It all goes back to Harry, he lied to Jess, and Jess thought she knew everything, so Mel started talking about what happened, jess got mad even though Mel thought she knew everything. Then Jess said you could've told me privately, even though Jess noted she knew EVERYTHING. How was Mel supposed to know she didn't know about the kiss if Jess said she knew ABOUT EVERYTHING? Jess got mad at Mel because she didn't like what she was hearing about the man she was with. So she attacked Mel even though she should've been getting mad at Harry for being a compulsive liar, yet she attacked the woman even though it Perfect Match, the women and men were going to have to step on someone else toes. Plus Mel most likely had no clue Jess and Harry were saying "I love you" to each other. Harry didn't communicate that to any of the girls. Harry is one of the worst men on reality TV.

    Okay but there’s sooo much drama and context outside of the way the producers edited it especially for Dominique and Brytons situtiaion

    DYLANNNN i love you so much ive been watching your vids for about 7 years and recently started showing my mum (52yrs old) your vids and she really enjoys them 😭 which was surprising to me since me and her don't often share the same humour but she now considers herself a troublemaker😁 she also said you have amazing teeth😍 she's now updated with all the fandoms inside jokes too, U ALSO INSPIRED HER TO BUY LAMPS LIKE YOURS FOR HER BEDROOM!!! love u Dylan!

    Crazy that Melinda is the villian when Harry lied, gaslit her and said she was lying for clout.

    A few points Dylan probably missed:
    -Stevan ghosted Alara after the season
    -The nobodies won because the "rejects" had an alliance of voting for a "reject" couple if any made it to the end

    You're being way too easy on Jessica and hard on Melinda. Jessica asked what happened. Melinda answered. If Jessica didn't want an answer, then she shouldn't have asked a question. I also think you're being too easy on Harry. He kissed someone else. He's just as culpable. He doesn't get a pass

  • @ForTheWitches

    Pretty sure Melinda was a strategic play for the show. She’s probably not really a homewrecker but they’re definitely paying her to be.

  • @designdesign23
    @designdesign23 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

    Hmm, not Ok with Dylan labeling Melinda as a homewrecker and a douchebag. It would be one thing if this was first and last and he didn't get any context, but he watched this entire season. It not OK for Harry to paint her as a liar and a desperate woman looking for "clout" when he was the one who wasn't being honest. It was especially problematic that neither Harry nor Jess apologized to Melinda when the truth was revealed. He was willing to go along with the lie he concocted if Netflix hadn't called him out. Melinda also is the only person who Netflix paid to be a host of one of their reality shows. So she didn't need Harry for "clout." She also doesn't speak in "Internet lingo," that's her authentic personality.

    nooooo Melinda speaks like a black woman and like most black women do, it’s the way we speak, and it’d a part of aave, which for some reason has been known as internet slang, TikTok slang, gen z slang, bc they have adopted the way of speaking from black culture. it’s one of the many ways we uplift each other, but it is deems as such or degraded for multiple reasons.

    troublemakers/boogies, i'm pleasantly surprised by this comment section! i was feeling a bit icky about the stuff dylan was saying in this video about melinda (referring to her using AAVE as internet lingo, general lack of sympathy and slight double standards towards the way he viewed her actions compared to other lighter/whiter contestants) but didn't really think i'd see that many others expressing that sentiment and i'm glad i was wrong. i do think it comes from a place of ignorance, not malice, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't call him out on it anyway! also dylan if you see this i hope you don't take it as hate because i see it as a respectful critique/an attempt to educate. i have watched you for almost seven years now and am a big fan, so this is not me trying to tear you down at all. hope you're having a good day!

    dominique came out and said that Bryton was being very homophobic (which is important because she’s bisexual) and that their arguments were pretty major but the edits made it seem like she was getting mad over nothing. also the edits made it seem like she liked toxic guys but they cut out some pretty major stuff.

  • @daniellehardy1095
    @daniellehardy1095 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    One piece of feedback on the vid (otherwise a banger as always) is that “internet speak” majority of the time is actually AAVE (African American Vernacular English) or something that a black woman in her amazing/funny nature said that became viral. Therefore, the internet clings on to it and people over use it out of context, which makes it feel annoying to hear over and over again. So her using AAVE-originated phrases is very justifiable and okay. Just a note! ❤
