Excellent work as always! 👍 The clear case is perfect to showcase your beautiful modification. I’m lazy so I use the Aliexpress-md2hdmi converter powered by a Pololu 5v step-down that draws 12v from the DC connector pins. 😂
From what I have read on the SEGA Retro website, the rear expansion port was only used by the Mega Modem, and only a small number of Japanese games supported it.
Man I really want to do this project but have not soldered anything since 2001 my senior year in high school. There was a bad solder connection on a horizontal alignment chip on a CRT TV. This kind of soldering seems a lot more tedious!
i like the concept of having an hdmi on a retro console cause the digital signal will be the cleanest. but the ammout of work it takes to install this isnt worth the effort. imo i think just using the rgb output and a retrotink looks pretty close to the hdmi.
@@LIRetroGaming same here. ive watch many of your videos in the past. i have a few consoles that is compatible with this but ill probably end up doing this in the future. i know these mods evolve over time so maybe when they have a simplified revision ill do it.
Really cool, but definitely cost prohibitive for me. I've gladly paid this much for HDMI mods on systems I play more frequently. Maybe some day I'll justify the cost, but for now I'll settle for a 3BP and RT4K. As much as I love the Genesis, I very rarely use it. This does look fun to install, though. I'd even build a system with this if I knew I could resell it.

I considered this when it was first announced but after seeing the installation and cost....not a fan. Think I'm good with my triple bypass modded systems which look wonderful on RT4K.
It’s a very nice mod but your existing setup matters a lot. If a person has an rt4k, then a triple bypass is all that’s needed to get the best out of a Genesis
"the DB9 expansion port is gone" -- Yeah, I get that. Unless you have a Japanese Mega Drive and the game Cyberball, the modem is of little value. Probably the only reason to get it. :)
Hey George, great video. Good to see you again. 🤙
Thanks, it’s good to be back!
@LIRetroGaming where can I buy clear shell?
Welcome back sir! Great video and job. Also, it must have been a nice sunny morning with all those bird chirps in the background. lol
Also, I was blown away at the PQ on this mod as I recently had mine installed.
Yeah we had good weather here and it was surprising to have all those birds out in December!
This shell is amazing 😍 Thanks for this great video my friend 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Great video. Just did my first triple bypass mod for the sega genesis model 2 while following your video. Helped me out greatly! Thank you
Thanks! That’s an awesome mod to do and you're welcome!

I have this mode installed by the inventor😊 highly recommended
Pretty cool. Probably stick to my triple bipass and tink 4k. Nice job over all. I guess my biggest concern is 32X and Sega CD compatibility.
This does work with Sega CD, but not 32x. A triple bypass and a scaler is a great way to enjoy the Genesis!

Another great mod. Thanks.
That expansion port was only used by a modem add on. It was mostly used in japan to bet on horse races.
What an enormous pain. Though I have to admit I'd love a Sega Neptune with HDMI out...
It’s a lot of work but the results are nice. And yeah a Neptune with hdmi would be awesome
I think brazil neptune will have hdmi
Exelente mod para esta gran consola retro 💪😎🍻
Its look like complete new console with all the wiring
I will be a matter of time before the SNES also gets the HDMI treatment.

Yeah this is definitely a more advanced mod that requires some experience. But with practice and the right tools, you can get there!
Is it exist this type of modification for the snes?
wait,...
when did this come out?
It’s been out for at least a year but not too many people have covered it
Love to know if this will work on model 2 genesis that already has a 3BP mod
No, this is only for a model 1. But it’s possible to use it with a 3BP on a model 1

That’s a fair assessment. I enjoy building stuff like this but it’s definitely not for everyone

I wonder if it's compatible with a dfo?

@LIRetroGaming obrigado
Does that shell come with the hdmi port?
It does not but there is an opening for the expansion port that works for the hdmi. There’s also a 3d printed option as well
I have a megadrive in the loft with all th acessoris in a box it must ve sitting there a guess 30 years...😂😂 one of thease days i have to try it out
Definitely - it’s a great time to revisit the classics on the mega drive!
I'll stick to my correct-looking original case and external video conversion.
Nothing wrong with that. Play video games, that’s the important part. The other details are a matter of personal preference
Que pena que no se puedan jugar juegos de Máster System con eso

太清晰了,与怀旧主机好像不是很搭,要是能有开扫描线的功能,或一些滤镜功能则更好了。

the mod is amazing 😉😉.....but the price not.........🤐🤨😮💨
It’s pricey to be sure, but similar to other hdmi mods
