I'm really glad they made a mod that allows you to both use the Everdrive Pro and the original CD hardware if you want. I have just a regular PC Engine and a Turbo Everdrive Pro so I'm good, but it'd make me sad if the CD hardware got permanently disabled one a bunch of Duos.
I recapped a japanese Duo with my dads soldering iron from the '80s about 15 years ago. First recap I ever did. Around 70 capasitors with the worst tool available. Been working like a champ ever since😅😅
Thanks for this, I've done a TurboNanza but haven't gotten around to installing a Duo Disabler yet, so it will be good to have a video reference. The Hu6260 has a bunch of pins that are internally connected, so that can be confusing if one decides to check for shorts after soldering the flex PCB. Console5 has the schematics for the Hu6260 though.
I have a Pc-Engine Duo-R Japanese console. This console I bought already modified to make it region free. Same as this basically, but in Japan. My Duo-R can play turbo grafx cds, turbo hucards, pc-engine CDs, and pc- engine hucards. Now, both types of hucards have always worked perfectly, proving the region free mod works. But the pc-engine cd-roms rarely work. Not completely nonfunctional, but like 5-10% of the time working. They just don't load up. It'll say loading for a few seconds, then "Please Set Disk" The turbo-grafx cd-roms have worked fine. This is quite odd, and I've never been able to figure it out. You seem like you really know what the hell you are doing with this stuff, so I was wondering if you had any ideas what you think the problem could be. I'm not an expert knowing if everything is hooked up correctly or not engineering-wise, but I've had IPCC training, so I know what a bad solder connection would look like and such. Everything looks good on the surface, no leaking caps.
Dam I bought a pc engine duo parts unit. Thinking about sending it in to make it the ugly duckling console. I would need full recap and the works like this on it.

I never got to own a Turbo Duo but I've always loved how sleek it looked.
I have a fondness for the PC engine. And I'm glad to see it getting mods.
Finaly waited for this solution so long! Great jobb finding a solution for the DUOs.
Yeah, zaxour is really talented and this was a great solution for enjoying these flashcarts on a duo

Yes the console5 tech wiki is a great resource. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Good way to start the day :-)
Now, if they would make something like that for a Genesis/Sega CD and/or the CDX when you use them with a Mega Everdrive Pro...
That would certainly be awesome
Didn’t Zaxour also discover an audio issue on original Duos and work out a fix? I think it was something like two resistor values that were off.
Yes he did and I had actually applied that fix and forgot to talk about it! The fix balances out the audio levels for cd audio, I think
I bought a Core II system and fell in love with it, but then my pre ordered Analogue Duo showed up and I just put the old gear away.
I really like the Analogue Duo, it’s a beautifully designed console
Great vid as always! Quick question: these mods can also be applied to DuoR right?
Duo R works. I have done it myself. Endgame mod! Try S-video to see the more “accurate” representation of the games too.
Yes they are! It also works with the Duo R and RX
Nice thanks for this. Shout out from Brookhaven.

To me it sounds like a laser that is failing. I would try a replacement and see if that improves the situation

Absolutely, I can help with this!
