so i'm one of your subs that knows NOTHING about sailing, and i somehow still like watching these videos. it's impressive how much y'all know about this stuff and how well you work together.
I've been sailing since I was 9 years old (for 65 years now!) and when I sail my current boat, a Beneteau 373 which I've had for 19 years I do exactly what you do when we get underway. You did an excellent job of describing it. Really enjoy your channel.
I enjoy this format of video. Not necessarily “tutorial based” but more along the lines of day in the life and what means to actually get the boat up and ready to sail. I for one enjoyed it! Every boat is different with different systems so it’s nice to see in my eyes. But I still love the adventure as well. A few of these mixed in time to time would be awesome!
There are many "cruiser" channels out there that can't sail to save their life. I have a lot of respect for your approach to be sailors first. And also a huge fan of your restoration work content.
This is a great video to remind me that I’d MUCH rather watch you sail, than to actually do it myself. Maybe when I was much younger but I’ll enjoy watching you in my latter years thank you….
If you're trying to figure out what content people like the most I'll give you my quick take from most to least favorite (I'm middle aged, male, mechanically inclined) 1. Boat systems work - installing components, repairs, upgrades etc. 2. Sailing related - passages, passage prep etc. 3. Exploring places - on shore explorations etc. 4. Water sports activities - diving, fishing etc.
Always interesting to learn new things. Impressed there are folks like you that are interested in sailing. If ocean water navigation is ever needed, I would appreciate having you on board. (Knowledge with experience).
Hi guys, really appreciate today’s video, for us non sailors ,sometimes it’s kind of a mystery all those terms , lines and sails! You did a fantastic explanation of the basics of sailing a catamaran, and the ways you go about it. 👍👍👍 P.S. All your videos are always amazing 🫶
Sierra, thanks for bringing up smart relevant questions about the tell-tales. And, Billy, for your thorough answer, which wasn't too far over the heads of those still learning. Excellent episode. Thanks for sharing.
I thought this was a nice mix of planning, sailing, and instruction. Given that you had a long "close reach" section that was cut, maybe include a little of that with the sailing tweaks about tuning the boat / rig, including wind speed vs boat speed, so there would be a little more of a sailing tutorial. I'm enjoying the videos.
Great video! You too are so in love and it shows in your videos! Amazing how you seemed to fit right into your new boat! Another TH-cam couple just got a new Seawind and they are totally lost on how to sail it!
I have watched every single episode. I wouldn’t want you to do this every time, but as somebody who used to sail Sunfish sailboats and knew what worked but not why I absolutely appreciate this type of video. Whether you are repairing something or sailing please don’t just tell us what you are doing but the why. You both have a “teachers” mind and are great at explaining things so anyone can understand. Can’t wait for your next adventure. I always learn something and for that I am eternally grateful. You all are doing what I would have done 40 years ago had I known it could be done. ( of course back then it was a lot harder to earn a buck while traveling). Keep it up, you three are awesome!
Love love love this. As a land lubber and a fantasizing boater, I live vicariously thought you and Sierra. FYI. You two were my very first "follow" on TH-cam many many years ago. I love your vids!
While you lost me pretty early on in the ‘how to’, I still really enjoyed this video. My dad would have loved watching you sail. He was a Captain for Beneteau and would sail and deliver new boats to the islands. I’m sure he's looking down with a smile and understood everything you guys did. Thanks for taking us along! Smooches for Jetty!!
QUESTION w a new boat theres always a list of items that need fixing or replaced by the manufacturer that you find out after weeks of being underway. Can you share the process and what items or issues you have run into. Also, can u update the repair job, how you liked it, befor and after, etc. Thanks
Excellent video for those like me that are new to sailing. I can understand it could be boring for experienced sailors but to have a “how to” thrown in now and again is great idea. Love your other videos as well 😊
Nice job explaining apparent wind, telltales and getting the boat sailing, in a simple commentary. It's pretty easy to get lost in the physics of it all, and probably not interesting except to nerds like me, LOL. I'm also glad to see your sheeet attachment to the clew at the highest position, meaning the most tension on the jib leech. I see SO many of these roller furlers with a leech that is too loose, (= slow) and the sails look terrible at anything but hard on the wind. Most of them really need a barber hauler when let out on a broad reach or run, to maintain leech tension. A good leech = better speed.
I like the idea of securing the main halyard to the back of the boom at anchor. We usually tie ours to a shroud, but we are going to try your way next time out.
Hey guys…I recently became a sub a couple months ago. Motor boater for 40+ years, never got into the “how to” of sailing.. Love this Vid! GREAT INFO!! Thank you for the education and great channel!
Hii..Nice to see your boat,i love catamaran...and your adventure.i've sailing cat too more than 10 years...tqsm,enjoy your sailing. Love sailing from Malaysia...Umaira.
Very helpful thank you. I learn a lot watching your videos. This time it was how to stash the main halyard to prevent banging on the mast while at anchor!
Your explanation on sailing was for beginner sailors but you used the terminology of a knowledgeable sailor which would have lost all the beginners. Always look forward to what you guys are up to.💕🍻
We have a SW 1000. Next time you shoot raising and lowering the mainsail could you address how you keep the mainsail away from the lazy jacks as the sail goes up. And maybe a shot of the main lowering into the sail cover? Thanks. We enjoy following you guys!
Loved the video. Maybe you could show how you tack and jibe, reef the main. I imagine how hard work is to make videos while maneuvering, but it would be appreciated. Happy sail for you.
I don't know if it will help me out because I'll probably never own a sail boat because my wife doesn't like the water. I do however, find it interesting and who knows my son-in-law has a Pace 27 that he may get on the water one of these days. Keep the good stuff coming guys and give Jetty a pat on the head and a treat for me.
Fantastic. Tks for the details. Next time, if possible, tell us about what and how you read all the instruments for motor running. Greetings from Zurich.
I know nothing about sailing and appreciate this lesson, I would like to see more and its helpful for Sierra. I watched another video from you guys and she is wanting to become a better sailor. Thank you for your content. Can you educate us on True Wind vs Apparent Wind? I googled it but its not sticking. Thanks again.
Another great upload! Maybe one cool idea could be a Picture in Picture in the corner of your screen showing your wind speed, how fast you're going, etc. It's kinda fun to follow along with that for us geeky people. Not sure if you could do a screen record of it or have to set up another camera.
I hope you don't have to come about too quickly to head north! But when you do, be mindful of the Outer Banks! They don't call them the graveyard of the Atlantic for nothing... I wonder if this years El Nino had anything to do with the light fishing catch this year. I guess they call it fishing and not catching for a reason. You crushed the lobster though!!!
Do you have a jib barberhauler system on the boat? We have a Dragonfly 32 trimaran and we are using our jib barberhauler as soon as we start to bear away from a close reach through a broad reach. It’s the only way to get all the telltales flying top to bottom on the luff of the sail and not have too much twist in the leech. It’s also good for the health of the sail as you don’t get the floppy leech thing that can lead to premature wear and tear on the sail. Nice boat!
I love these how to vids because let's face it 80% of us are watching from our couch and don't know shit about sailing Like I always wondered if you need to go south but the wind is blowing north are you screwed 🤷♂️ 🙏❤️👊🏼🇺🇸
Is that standard galvanized chain? It’s in such good condition. Our charter cats always have trouble getting the main to fall that last 30%. Cars/track are probably not getting their needed maintenance. Do you use a downhaul?

I got you beat! Age 7. Nice Boat Beneteau 373. I am a Bristol Girl. Happy Sailing ⛵.

It's always great to see some real world sailing demonstrated.
This is a great video to remind me that I’d MUCH rather watch you sail, than to actually do it myself. Maybe when I was much younger but I’ll enjoy watching you in my latter years thank you….

P.S. All your videos are always amazing 🫶
Thanks the sailing explanation was nice of you as most of your viewers have never sailed a modern catamaran.
Sierra, thanks for bringing up smart relevant questions about the tell-tales. And, Billy, for your thorough answer, which wasn't too far over the heads of those still learning. Excellent episode. Thanks for sharing.

Any time you can make it easier to understand sailing the better. You two are so fortunate.
One of your best yet. You make a great team. Loved your sailing coverage and explanations.
I love you guys and Jetty too!
Thank you so much for another wonderful video. Everything about you and your videos is awesome!
Great video! You too are so in love and it shows in your videos! Amazing how you seemed to fit right into your new boat! Another TH-cam couple just got a new Seawind and they are totally lost on how to sail it!
Excellent camera angles and yes, like the content.
So far in my vote, you guys are the best TH-camrs I seen selling. I think you guys are great. Love your videos.
Beautiful boat, you must be so happy with it 😃
GREAT VIDEO!! Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed how simple sailing can be. Cheers
Still looking in and enjoying your videos, thank's for taking us along...

Good info... also if you could do exploring of Isle or towns. Thats interesting also

Thanks for the tutorial on sailing a catamaran. I am considering upgrading to a catamaran, and I appreciate viewing your videos.

Great camera work to show the adjustments you made to sails, really excellent. Thank you!
Thanks guys, really appreciate all you do in sharing your adventures. Stay safe and as usual GO JETTY GIRL. 👍🏻💕🐾🍖
Love the new boat and the adventure! Saving for a new hoodie. All the prints are cool. Cheers guys 🍻⛵
Billy looking like Sully from Godsmack with the shades and chin growth. Rockstar
Thanks couch sailer here learning the lingo! Like the way you explained things.Very helpful! Someday ill put it to work😊
Video summary: "This is all magic, and we are magicians."
Excellent video for those like me that are new to sailing. I can understand it could be boring for experienced sailors but to have a “how to” thrown in now and again is great idea. Love your other videos as well 😊
Well done. You explained it well - I know because I had a sailboat when I was 13!
Nice job explaining apparent wind, telltales and getting the boat sailing, in a simple commentary. You guys must have picked a great boat, some channels with new catamarans are having constant problems. You guys are great 👍
I like the idea of securing the main halyard to the back of the boom at anchor. We usually tie ours to a shroud, but we are going to try your way next time out.
Nice to see all the theory you learn about when starting out learning to sail, put into a practical way - with show and tell. More of them pls
Excellent description for sailing. You guys are very articulate and clear .
Perfect TH-cam opener this evening! TY! Loved it.
Very helpful thank you. I learn a lot watching your videos. This time it was how to stash the main halyard to prevent banging on the mast while at anchor!
Your explanation on sailing was for beginner sailors but you used the terminology of a knowledgeable sailor which would have lost all the beginners. Always look forward to what you guys are up to.💕🍻
Very informative video! Learned a few things today 😊 thanks Billy and Sierra!
Great video! I would have liked to see more of the sails adjustments as you were narrating about your lines a d trim.
New to sailing and to Catamarans. I really enjoyed the video and the format. Thanks!

Another excellent video, we would like to see more like this.
Enjoyed it guys you gave me a little insight on what it would be like to sail a cat.
So interesting for me as a non sailor to see how sailing works!
I learned something and I saw Jetty - terrific.
I don't know if it will help me out because I'll probably never own a sail boat because my wife doesn't like the water. I do however, find it interesting and who knows my son-in-law has a Pace 27 that he may get on the water one of these days. Yes, we like it!!
I do like this type of video. I know nothing about sailing but enjoyed seeing how to trim the sails. Thank you

I would love to see how you retrieve your anchor with the sails up. As a sail boat owner I enjoy seeing your thoughts and mentality on how you sail.
Another great upload! Maybe one cool idea could be a Picture in Picture in the corner of your screen showing your wind speed, how fast you're going, etc. It's kinda fun to follow along with that for us geeky people. Not sure if you could do a screen record of it or have to set up another camera.
Please show us on the chart as you go, especially cuts and passes. That will help us share the fun with you. Thanks !
Enjoyed the lesson at the ride. Loved it.
Great video, coming from a landlubber, lol! It's always interesting!
Talk about professional you guys really know your stuff and your boat great video

Nice boat!
Great video. I must do one for optimal trim / racing on a Seawind 1160!!
LOVE this kind of video! Very relaxing! :) Can you do a video on the electronics and how it all helps you sail? Thx!
A lot of great info there. Thanks for sharing.
Loved it, Keep em coming!
Love this type of video❤
Very helpful, thank you so much. :)
Cool video guys
team work 🤝
I love these how to vids because let's face it 80% of us are watching from our couch and don't know shit about sailing
Like I always wondered if you need to go south but the wind is blowing north are you screwed 🤷♂️
🙏❤️👊🏼🇺🇸
Really enjoyed it!
Thanks!
Love it guys!
Thank you for a nice sailing primer. Cheers
Thx love it hard
work and a little fun
top job you 2 as always
Be safe !!
Great video, very interesting
Loved it!!!!!
an interesting trip
How do you properly set your anchor? And how do you know it’s holding good?
how fast can you go when you are sailing?
What rod rack are you using? How did you install? Do you recommend it?
GOOD JOB
I enjoyed it….wondering what true wind and apparent wind is all about
Have you tried the Cedar Plugs yet! They have been great for me.
Good video. Like that it was uneventful.
Love the vids!
Not a sailing guy, appreciate you explaining how you sail.
But it's LOL to me, you might as well be speaking Chinese, which I don't!
I liked this video
Is your Starlink mount a custom piece, or something off the shelf?
Is that standard galvanized chain? It’s in such good condition. Our charter cats always have trouble getting the main to fall that last 30%. Cars/track are probably not getting their needed maintenance. Do you use a downhaul?
Do you guys think you will ever sail to Greece, Australia etc.
i honestly thought sails worked like a net to catch the wind and simply get pushed forward. had no idea they worked like an aerofoil!
Sails are just like the wing of an airplane, just turned sideways
