We were approached on our 52' cat last year 150 miles offshore of Venezuela on our way to Panama by a small skiff at a shift change in the morning...I was brushing my teeth looking out the porthole window and had to rub my eyes that I couldn't believe that small of boat was out there. I woke up the rest of the crew and the small boat came in behind us about 3/4 of a mile back then paced us at 10kts for about 15 minutes before turning and going even farther north. Definitely had the "Spidey senses" tingling & thankfully was nothing...but it's good to look like there's a whole bunch of people on board and you recognize them. No mothership was showing up on AIS either. Be safe out there!
6:57 - "WAAAWHOO!!" moment. BBQ'd, even with teriyaki marinade, are yummy options for that. Liking the Jetty sail. 18:49 - good tip. 22:40 - now THAT looks GOOD!!
A solid post. Love your style of just taking us along even though some may consider it not as thrilling. Congrats on the Wahoo, we as still striving to join to ranks someday.
That was a really great video. It’s good to see you guys underway and doing passages, even though they’re short. Billy, it was so good to see you with the life vest on also! I watch several other TH-cam channels with people cruising the world. And I’m shocked how many times they’re on watch all alone and they don’t have a vest on. The sushi looks absolutely incredible. You guys really have made. Thanks again looking forward to the next one as always.
Sour dough is wonderful! Happy you have discovered it. Now you're like a lot of the earlier settlers. Sour dough starter was something they shared with other settlers. Best of luck with it. English muffins mafe with SD are yummy
Oh Billy and Sierra so good to see you guys out in fair blue seas. That was a beautiful video. I’m glad the dog gone drone didn’t go overboard because those last shots were fantastic. So excited for you guys to get your first wahoo on Laurie Sue. I think your spinnaker by far is the coolest out there Aargh Jetty! How old is Jetty her little face is getting whiter by the day. Sweet girl give her extra pets for me. Sending love you guys. Fairwinds at your back. Be safe. Can’t wait to see the next adventure. ⛵️🤟🏻😎🐬🥰🇺🇸
Venezuela. You just went to one of the best islands in Venezuela (Los Roques) it is a paradise. You should stay there longer. Good luck guys over there.
I enjoy watching you SAILING!! Sailing and exploring places. Not going around and round for example F.P. There are some channels, ive stopped watching. But not you,so keep going 👍
Hi guys, it must be hard work sometimes when you are in a port for awhile and you get to meet a lot of wonderful people and you have to say goodbye. I suppose sailing is a bit like motorhome in your always catch up with them again but for a brief moment you have a bit of sadness in your heart Anyway keep up the good work always enjoy the videos , Cliff from Logan City, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺 I’m on the big island 🏝️
The chain of Islands along the coast of Venezuela are the most beautiful places. We sailed them for years since the 80’s until we sold our sailboat in 2010’s it’s worth visiting. Unfortunately some bad publicity makes it hard.
Would love to know if yall bought or made yourself the crocheted veggie holder in your galley. I'm actually sitting here testing some patterns for some as I watch your video. I love yours so much more than any I've tested and would love to know the pattern.
The freeze your seafood is only a thing in the USA. It’s actually a requirement for anything served raw. I ate tuna on a boat in the pacific right after it was caught. The 3 day part in the refrigerator before it goes bad is true. If you’re going to keep it longer than that freeze it.
Maybe I’ve just missed it but what’s your long term plan? Are you planning to spend much time in Central America? Will you go through the canal and eventually cross the pacific?
You and stop at there places but you are taking your chances. I had a friend about 30 mile off the coat of Venezuela he was shot. His wife motorsaild them to Trinidad. He lived but barely. The I have made this trip. Great sail! But today I would steer clear.
I am very happy that you loved the beautiful islands of Venezuela, which are undoubtedly safe places, since you visited the Aves archipelago. Here I leave you information about the Isla de Aves shipwreck. In the wreck of Las Aves in 1678, between 12 and 15 French ships were sunk. This event was one of the largest maritime disasters of the time. The shipwreck occurred when the French fleet, led by the flagship Le Terrible, was heading towards the Las Aves coral reef. The Dutch fleet had maneuvered into the island's central lagoon to lure the French, making the archipelago look like part of Bonaire. As the French approached the reef, Le Terrible could not avoid it. Captain d'Estrées ordered guns to be fired to warn the rest of the fleet, but the other ships thought they were being attacked by the Dutch and headed towards them. Finally, all the ships in the fleet hit the reef and sank. It is estimated that 500 sailors lost their lives. A big hug from Venezuela and may God bless you always.
@@merledeardorff7584 I understand your concern, but it is not fair to judge an entire nationality by the actions of a few. The 25 years of Chavismo have impacted Venezuela in all aspects and have destroyed many Venezuelan values, but the majority of Venezuelans are good people. Blaming everyone for the behavior of a few lacks empathy and humanity. I wish you a happy day, may God bless you, and a big hug from good Venezuelans.
Hey guys, been thinking about your stove and oven. That oven is a FIRE HAZARD. Get rid of it and get a toaster oven for that space. I know your home wall oven never has a hot handle.
News is always bad news. Jamaica is bad. We heard about a person starting to shop outside the protected dock. A woman started to cross the street. A motorcycle came by and took her bag within ten feet of the security section.
I first started sailing in 1973, even got my captain's licence in 1983. I am willing to learn. Have I always spelled jibing wrong, should it be gybing, or is it a preference matter? I would prefer a different spelling than one that gets often confused with jiving. Thoughts?
Question: can you elaborate a little more…. Did you get a visa or not for Vz? You mention 2 months. Would you recommend a visa? I used to live and work in Venezuela and my wife is Venezuelan so we are thinking of sailing there next year. Did you ever legally check in? Hope you give the western Caribbean a try. We loved Cuba and will go back later this year. sv Heliades
You're putting yourself at the mercy of the Venezuelan government when in those waters. Sierra, it' not the "news" telling you venezuela is no go, it's the Department of State. Have you ever wondered how Americans become political prisoners in other countries, i.e. Banana Republics???? I've watched you two for years and love your channel, but I am pretty upset with your naivety. Even more so because you're encouraging others to do the same. Understand this: you are NOT an expert in diplomacy and you're not in any position to tell anyone to disregard DOS alerts. The fact that you might not have come to the attention of unfriendly governments is luck and numbers. Please don't let that be your guide. Please be careful and move on.
The current Venezuelan regime would love nothing more than capturing Americans as bargaining chips with the US, your visit and advise to others is reckless and irresponsible, being robbed is the least of your concerns. The State Department issues advisories based on credible threats not just news, consider editing your video for the sake of preventing serious harm to your audience
Los Roques is Venezuelan territory. The entitled americans always feel that they can venture into the territory of sovereign states' waters without even having the courtesy to check in with immigration as long as they stay offshore. If a foreigner tries that in the US, it's a whole different story. Simply no respect for anyone.

It would be in your best interest to carry some protection. You can trust “ abandoned “ or “ safe” islands. But, you just gave valuable information to those that would not think twice to take your boat, your money and probably your lives. We do NOT in a happy go lucky, fairy tale world as the “ progressive “ liberals believe. We live in the end times. Good VS. Evil. It will, unfortunately, take people until their last breath to realize that. Then, it will be too late. Hell is real! Heaven is also real! We choose our eternal destination by who we trust. So when are you guys going to head to the South Pacific?
Looks like the hurricane is heading for Cuba
Aves = Pajaros = Birds
In case you haven’t heard La Vagabond was anchored and hit by a fishing vessel in Japan. Everyone safe, boat severely damaged. Stay safe
