    Is DJI Osmo Pocket 3 the ultimate compact TH-cam camera?

    I have the a7siii and just picked up the Osmo Pocket 3. Obviously, the a7siii looks better overall, but regarding vlogging for my channel, I will bring the pocket with me every time. Not only holding a heavy camera out in front of you for a long time but also in terms of other people in public. People act differently when you put a big camera around them, but most barely recognize that the pocket is recording.

      100% agree with you. I actually never understood people who vlog with full frame cameras. It’s so cumbersome. The Pocket 3 is perfect for vlogging. Great image quality, stabilization and it fits in your pocket.

      Same here. Both are great cameras and if DJI allows customization of how fast autofocus works, it will be amazing.

    The Pocket is very good, but it’s nowhere near a ZVE1. You can get totally clean footage in very dark environment on the ZVE1, the image is much better. Heck, they filmed ‘The Creator’ with the same sensor, they didn’t use a Pocket 3. The Pocket 3 is really, really good though and I can’t see why anyone would buy a ZV1 mark ii (or mark I) over the Pocket 3. It has destroyed that market.

    The image quality is much better on sony but is it worth the extra $2500 for the setup? If you could only have one cam, would you sell the p3 and keep the zv? Also how about the s9 vs the p3?

    • @Romafedorov
      @Romafedorov  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I could only have one camera, I'd definitely pick the ZV-E1. It's better than the Pocket 3 in almost every way, except that it's bulkier and doesn't have a built-in gimbal. I'd say if you're mainly shooting on a tripod like I am, something like the ZV-E1 is a much better choice. However, if you're doing handheld selfie vlogging, then the Pocket 3 is better. Don't get me wrong-the Pocket 3 punches way above its weight as a whole package for the price, but the ZV-E1 is much superior when it comes to image quality.
      As for the S9, I'm assuming you mean the Panasonic S9. I wouldn't recommend buying it, mainly because it has so many recording time limits, and I'm pretty sure it overheats much quicker than the ZV-E1. In my opinion, the ZV-E1 is the best compact mirrorless camera for content creation.

    I have the Sony A7IV and some expensive lenses yet I don't use it at all since picking up the Pocket 3. The Pocket 3 has so many benefits that outweigh the slightly reduced video quality. I'm probably going to sell my Sony. The Pocket is just insane for the price.

    The Pocket 3 battery handle allows mid shot battery changes. I don't think the Sony can do that. Overall, to be honest when comparing your exellent example shots, I often preferred the P3 images. I am not saying they were better, just preferable to me. Really, to compare the two you have to add the size weight and cost of a gimbal for the Sony, and for many people that makes the Sony an impossible expense. You used the word 'tools ' near the end of the excellent video, and that is the key thing. These are two different tools for different jobs, and purchasers need to consider the job they will mostly be doing and buy the hammer, not the screwdriver, or the reverse.

    • @Romafedorov
      @Romafedorov  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I 100% agree with you. One must consider what they really need from a camera before investing in a new one, especially for those who are just starting with TH-cam, etc. No need to waste money on a 'tool' that looks cooler but is not necessary.

      No, the resolution is not reduced. If it is dark or barely lit and you then zoom in on the video for analysis, you will see a slight loss of quality. However, you usually notice practically nothing of it.

    This is like comparing a motorcycle to a car, each has their own strengths and weaknesses but not nearly close to the same range to be compared, a more comparable video would be with the ZV1 which the P3 blows out of the park. I happen to own 2 ZV1s and a P3.

    Hello Roma,
    Really nice comparaison between the DJI and Sony ZV-E1, I personally have an issue with the DJI pocket 3, I feel that my skintone are not pleasant with shooting in Auto.
    I can see that yours look very nice when shooting in LOG and color grading. Any tips on the color grading to have better skin tone ?
    Also, I will purchase your LUT package, which LUT have you used in this particular video ?
    Thank you

    • @Romafedorov
      @Romafedorov  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In this video, I haven't used any LUTs. I've manually color graded everything. When it comes to skin tones, try to use manual balance as much as possible for more accurate colors. If it still doesn't look right, you can use HSL curves to push the skin tones towards yellow because typically, on the Pocket 3, they lean towards magenta. Hope this helps!

    Comparing the DJI at 3200 ISO to the Sony at 12800 ISO. I think it seems a little unfair that the Sony is getting 4X less light and looks far far cleaner.

    • @DigiDriftZone
      @DigiDriftZone 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      There are 2 good reasons to do this: 1) That's the native ISO of the camera and 2) This is a 1" sensor, so if you apply the crop factor of 5, that's 3200*(5**2), the full frame equivalent would actually be ISO 80,000 to get a similar level of noise (this runs the sensor at the same gain as ISO3200 on a 1" sensor), so not sure how useful that would be to see. Would be interesting though.

Sometimes i dont have a videographer for my second professional camera to film me. So i thought of getting the pocket 3 to mount on a tripod to film me as it cann follow me. Iphone 15 Pro or Sony EV-Z10 using a Hohem m-6 for tracking, OR Pocket 3??? I have the Ulanzi MT-79. To get a closer with P3 I would just try to set it up closer (I guess) since zero Zoom. I vlog every day and just love the prospect of the P3. I would use the DJI mic 2 for all three (arrives today!). I would appreciate anyone's take!

      Pocket 3 is hands down the best choice for vlogging. For a dedicated 'tripod studio' camera, the ZV-E10 would likely be the top pick. However, the iPhone 15 Pro could also deliver fantastic results, especially when shooting in Apple Log. If you can wait, the ZV-E10 II is set to be released in a couple of months with significant upgrades. Still, I don't believe it will surpass the Pocket 3 for pure handheld vlogging. Hope this helps.
